In episode 16 I ask why conservatives are repeating this story about "suitcases" full of ballots in Georgia? I make the case that those suitcase are just ballot bags with chain-of-custody paper work on them. "Ballot bags" are the names of the suitcase like bags on rollers that are used to transport ballots. You can look these ballot bags up online yourself. The video purporting to show suitcase full of ballots has been purported to be highly suspicious by conservatives on Fox News, NewsMax, OANN, and all over the internet. The video and the theory is a distraction from good evidence for fraud. THE BATTLE OVER REFORMATTING AND UPDATING THE DOMINION VOTING MACHINES, WHY IT'S IMPORTANT, AND HOW WE CAN DO BETTER. It was reported that Brad Raffensperger had ordered all Dominion Voting machines in Georgia to be wiped clean and have a new version of software installed. However, in a public address Raffensperger denied that claim saying that he did NOT make such an order. He merely allowed for the removal of the data, and software, from the Dominion machines... A judge ordered a stop to wiping the machines and installing new software, only to reverse his decision hours later. The basis for reversing the decision was that the machines were not in possession of Dominion voting, but in the possessions of the state election facility. I personally don't know what that has to do with it. Later that night the judge placed a restraining order on Dominion Voting from accessing these machines in order to protect the software on the machines from being wiped.... I spent over 2 hours logic checking the fact checkers regarding the 2020 election. I discussed several news stories that were "fact checked" irresponsibly, and show their gross critical thinking errors. I also threw in some other stories for good measure. The left-leaning media, including Fox News, has continued to state that Trump's legal accusations of fraud are "baseless," and "without evidence." However, I don't think his legal team is showing up to court with empty pieces of paper containing no arguments, and no evidence. On the contrary they are providing "evidence." Whether that evidence is "proof" of fraud, or mistakes, and enough to change the outcome of the election is not for me to decide, but what I can do is point out the highly irrational arguments being made by the "fact checkers." Straw man arguments, red herring arguments, and non-sequiturs abound. I also discuss a few little 'debates' I had with people online that provide excellent examples of how badly we need critical thinking courses taught in high school. A Critique Of Paul Krugman's Argument For Federal Government Covid-19 Mandates In this episode I critique Paul Krugman's hypocrisy, and inconsistency, with regard to demanding government mandates. Krugman argues that: “many things should be matters of individual choice. The government has no business dictating your cultural tastes, your faith or what you decide to do with other consenting adults.” But Krugman has spent his who career advocating for the government to make it their business what you do with other consenting adults. He also suggests that any time we do anything that could potentially put any one else at risk the government should get involved. But that's just absurd. A Couple of Key Points QAnon is not a conspiracy theory, it's a group of followers of Q who is allegedly a White House insider leaking classified information online. So QAnon is not a conspiracy theory, but rather a group of people who believe a conspiracy theory. QAnon does not claim that DEMOCRATS run a satanic child sex-trafficking ring. They claim that: Both some democrats, republicans, celebrities, and wealthy elites are involved in a child trafficking. Some of it is satanic, but not all of it. Trump knows about this, and plans mass arrests and indictments of people within this group. Trump Does Side-Step This Issue To A Certain Degree, But Why and Is He Justified In Doing So? Trump knows that Q has million of followers and the doesn't want to lose those votes. Trump is against pedophilia - at least publicly - and so he wanted to point out that QAnon is at least correct in that respect. I think Tump likes the idea of being seen as a savior, and won't often disavow people who treat him that way. Although he did disavow people like David Duke who endorsed him for president. Trump was right to discuss the nuance of the issue, and Savannah Guthrie was intellectually dishonest in both her summary of QAnon and her request that Trump disavow the entirety of QAnon's opinions. The logical fallacy of Equivocation is one of those fallacies that is often easy to spot, but in some cases flies completely under the radar. Equivocation is often pivotal to propaganda and political manipulation The recent attempt by Democrats to use the term court-packing to refer to the imminent approval of Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court is an example of equivocation. And, frankly, a very poor attempt on their part. They followed it up by attempting to redefine the term as “depoliticization.” An equally egregious attempt to manipulate the public. I discuss how this equivocation (an often used logical fallacy) is common in propaganda. In my opinion this is a perfect example of how words are being redefined for propagandistic purposes.
