Matthew Garcia has been in jail for 26 years for second-degree felony murder. He didn't even have a gun, yet he has a life sentence. As an adopted child from North Philadelphia, Matthew has turned his life around in remarkable ways. He is a published author with a book called "Raw Reflections" and graduated with college courses from Villanova, St. Joseph's, Bryn Mawr, and Widener University. Matthew also created his own mentoring program called the Real Rap Program and has scholarships for at-risk youth with Councilman Kenyatta Johnson. Despite these achievements, he remains behind bars due to Pennsylvania's harsh felony murder law. This petition seeks to change the felony murder law in Pennsylvania to make lifers like Matthew eligible for parole. His case shares similarities with Derek Lee's case that the PA Supreme Court is ready to rule on, including 17 amicus briefs filed on behalf of individuals like him. Please support Matthew Garcia by signing this petition and advocating for fairer sentencing laws in Pennsylvania! If you would like to help Matthew out, the petition is below https://www.change.org/p/change-pennsylvania-s-felony-murder-law-to-allow-parole-for-lifers?recruiter=1338786924&recruited_by_id=1f98e0d0-13f6-11ef-8e42-110cd3ef6ae3&utm_source=share_petition&utm_campaign=petition_dashboard&utm_medium=copylink#FREEMATTHEWGARCIA

Episode 169: Free Joe Exotic, Pennsylvania's Gambling Crisis, The CEO Who Couldn't Escape, and Taylor Swift's Legacy Buckle up for another wild ride on What Are We Doing! This week, we kick things off with none other than Joe Exotic. Yes, the Tiger King is clawing his way back into headlines, calling on Trump (again) for a pardon while dropping prison mixtapes on Rumble. Is it desperation or just another chapter in his bonkers legacy? Either way, the tigers are waiting. Next, we head to Pennsylvania, where skill games in gas stations and bars are wreaking havoc. Are they harmless fun or unlicensed slot machines in disguise? The PA Supreme Court is stepping in, but with crime spiking and Chipotle doubling as mini-casinos, it's clear we're in deep. Pro tip: maybe don't gamble next to your burrito bowl. Then, the true-crime plotline you didn't see coming: United Healthcare's CEO is gunned down on a Manhattan sidewalk, and the suspect? Luigi Mangione—a valedictorian-turned-ghost-gun-toting vigilante. He's caught eating McDonald's fries with all the evidence in his backpack. Is he sloppy or a genius? Either way, corporate America just got a lot scarier. And speaking of things ending, Taylor Swift's Eras Tour is officially over. With 149 sold-out shows and over $2 billion in ticket sales, it was nothing short of historic. As Swifties mourn the end of an era, we're manifesting the next big thing: a Miley Cyrus “Eras Tour.” Hannah Montana, “Bangers,” “Flowers”—are you listening, Miley? America's ready! Finally, Trump's back at it, launching a fragrance line called Fight Fight Fight. Is it a rallying cry in a bottle or just the olfactory equivalent of fast food? Either way, MAGA supporters can now smell like victory—or a 78-year-old Florida man. What are we doing? From prison pleas to pop stars, slot machines to scents, we've got it all. Smash that like button, leave a comment, and join us for the madness. #WAWD169 00:00 - Introduction & Jeff's Backdrop Controversy 11:13 - Joe Exotic's Pardon Plea 27:30 - Pennsylvania Skill Machines Debate 37:31 - United Healthcare CEO Murder Case 55:38 - Taylor Swift's Eras Tour Recap & Miley Cyrus Manifestation 1:07:02 - Trump's New Fragrance Line 1:16:27 - New Jersey Drone (or Alien?) [SEGMENT 1-1] Democrats are mad – Ms Universe Their world has fallen apart. And only in some dystopian world would an American see the election of Trump over Harris as a bad thing. But Democrats view life through a distorted lens. So for example, Democrats watched the outcome of the Ms Universe pageant and grabbed their go-bags and prepared for the Zombie apocalypse. All because a blonde-haired, blue-eyed stunningly gorgeous white biological woman from Denmark won the contest. How is that even POSSIBLE, they must be asking themselves. First Trump wins, now THIS?! What is going on in the tortured world of Leftist when a gorgeous white bona fide woman of the white persuasion can win a beauty pageant over a cross-dressing trans-sexual Guatemalan midget?” This is NOT the world they signed up for. And what about this Trump Dance that's sweeping the continent? It's being done by people all over the world. I watched a world-class soccer player do it, and far worse, I watched an ABORTION AGE biological female golfer Charley Hull do the Trump dance walking up the 18th fairway. Apparently with a 2-shot lead she felt comfortable that Democrats couldn't cheat her out of the win. There was a big controversy when Trump had McDonald's served on his plane, and his HHS Secretary nominee RFK Jr was said to have eaten a Big Mac and fries. But that was only part of the controversy, as apparently the bigger surprise is that Kamala Harris actually served them the meal, fulfilling her obligation. And maybe on a private bet between her and The Donald? Lots to discuss today, Peeps. All areas of this corrupt government are under attack by Trump. I was thinking of a perfume name for Trump. Triumph – The sweet smell of victory—Unmistakably Trump! Voiceover (Deep, commanding tone):"When the dust settles, and the weak have fallen, there remains one unstoppable force: Victory." Final Scene:Trump sprays the perfume in slow motion. Behind him, a massive, gleaming wall rises from the earth, inscribed with the word "WINNING." Eagles soar overhead as fireworks light up the sky. Close-Up on Bottle:Gold-plated, with a bold "T" logo and the phrase, "The Essence of a Legend." Voiceover Ends:" Triumph. The fragrance of always Winning." End Screen:Trump smirks into the camera, saying,"Because losing? That's for them." [SEGMENT 1-2] Democrats are mad 2 - illegals In breaking news, Tom Homan announced a 20-year ban from the US if illegals don't self-deport. They won't even be able to get a tourist visa. That's one way to get MASS DEPORTATION. [X] SB – Tom Homan on self-deportation [X] SB – Tom Homan schools AOC [SEGMENT 1-3] Democrats are mad 3 – World turned upside down Did I call it the other day. How Trump will get his appointments made. [X] SB – Man explains bureaucracy of government The man won, and he can pick his people. Look at the freak show of the Biden administration and ask me should we negotiate on Trump's picks. Democrats should be ashamed of Joe Biden's administration picks. Rumor is that Matt Gaetz will reveal the names of the people on Deborah Jeane Palfrey, DC Madam's list. Dave McCormick defeated Bob Casey in PA, and the Republicans officially have another Senate seat. The PA Supreme Court ordered the vote counting STOPPED. See how that works, Republicans. GA Court of Appeals abruptly canceled oral arguments in Fani Willis Trump RICO case… Biden wants WWIII to hand over to Trump, and he told Russia that he wants discussions with them and Ukraine immediately…more to come. Congratulations are in order: CNN is the first network to have more employees than viewers. Fact-check that, but I hear that's true. [SEGMENT 1-4] Democrats are mad 4 - Hollyweirdos Democrats have a lot of people to blame for their losses. Because soon-to-be former FBI Director Wray can recall the agents who've been surveilling Conservative parents at school board meetings. But I digress. Where are the stars who pushed all in for Kamala Harris? I'd say that De Niro is keeping a low profile, but then again without his massive lifts, De Niro has no choice but to keep a low profile. Appalled by radical Islam after 9/11, Gabbard volunteered to serve in the Hawaii National Guard, deploying to Iraq in 2004 and 2005 in a medical unit. She completed officer training at Alabama Military Academy, then served overseas in Kuwait. In 2020, she transferred to the U.S. Army Reserve and attained the rank of lieutenant colonel. You might think that people who claim to respect the troops so much might hesitate before calling someone with this kind of record a foreign asset or even accusing her of being a foreign agent. You would be wrong.” You can read the full article here: https://www.nationalreview.com/corner/id-take-tulsis-record-in-syria-over-the-cias/ 5:00pm- While speaking with Jake Tapper on CNN, Speaker of the House Mike Johnson said of Donald Trump's cabinet appointees: "They are persons who will shake up the status quo.” 5:10pm- Rich takes calls: one person wants to talk about Donald Trump dismantling the deep state—while another wants to randomly discuss Tommy “Cutlets” DeVito starting for the New York Giants. 5:20pm- Disney has canceled plans for their next Star Wars film which was scheduled to be released in December of 2026. The state Supreme Court has declined to immediately decide questions related to mail-in ballots in the commonwealth with just weeks remaining before Election Day. At least 16 counties do not give voters any notice about a mistake or give them a chance to fix it -- according to a new analysis. More than 20,000 Pennsylvanians living abroad or serving in the military have applied to vote by mail. Solar energy developers may need to pay more to get projects built under a proposal moving through the state legislature. Voting rights advocates are asking Pennsylvania's Supreme Court to stop counties from throwing out what could be thousands of mail-in ballots in November's election in the presidential battleground state. Some energy experts are hailing the planned restart of the Three Mile Island nuclear plant as good for the climate. Nuclear facilities don't emit the planet-warming pollution that fossil fuel plants do. In a change of course, the Cumberland Valley School District will participate in a state-funded program to give student teachers thousands of extra dollars. Scores of other schools still have not sent in their participation agreements. An arbitration board is allowing U.S. Steel to proceed with its proposed acquisition by Nippon Steel. Investigators in Philadelphia are exhuming eight bodies buried in a potter's field this week in the hope that advances in DNA-based testing can help them identify the long-ago victims. 12 - Dom comes in hot on this Monday over another attempted assassination of Trump and yet another failure by the secret service due to their bogus protocols and lackluster staff. 1210 - Even after getting shot at again, lefty media outlets are still throwing words like “Hitler” and “authoritarian fascist” over the air. 1215 - Side question: What backdrop to a city is integral to a show? 1220 - This guy was in the shrubbery for 12 hours and there were no flags being set off about this guy? What do they mean by “deem possible”? Your calls. 1240 - Is it Trump who needs to tone down the rhetoric or could somebody or something else be to blame? Do we need to hire agents externally, like Pinkertons? 1250 - The Secret Service has an attitude problem. The Democrats don't see this as an existential threat. More calls. 1 - Martha Raddatz fact checked a Democrat in real time over false claims made by Kamala during the debate, so why did Muir and Davis? We play clips of Kamala's sit down with 6ABC's own Brian Taft and what an unmitigated disaster her answers were. 115 - Brittany Mahomes and Taylor Swift did not sit together for the second straight game. Is Taylor that petty? 120 - Taking your side question calls. 130 - Scott Presler joins the program again to tout good news that he alone is out registering people to vote Republican than Taylor Swift is for Democrats here in Pennsylvania. He also details the backlog of mail-in ballots in Luzerne county among others and how that will affect turnout. How did we get to out mail-in vote the democrats in ELEVEN red, rural counties? Sign up to help Scott because tomorrow is National Voter Registration Day! Scott will be heading to Shoemakersville, where your First Amendment right to free speech is being limited. 150 - Biden makes remarks after the second assassination attempt of Donald Trump, commending the Secret Service. Why are the SS's rules on these investigations so arbitrary? How much money will it cost? 2 - Old friend of the show Kevin Kelly joins the program. After a long time away from bringing election integrity to our voting places, he returns to stress the importance of Pennsylvania after election integrity claims in 2020. Republicans need poll watchers to prevent any fishy business. Where you might need them the most may surprise you. Has the veil been lifted from the traditional Democrats' eyes? 210 - Dom likes the chances of PA being red thanks to the great help Trump has had in this state. 215 - Dom's Money Melody 220 - Winner? 225 - The SCOTUS made a decision regarding a third party candidate and that is why ballots are not ready in Luzerne. The PA Supreme Court also made a ruling that overturned a ruling over incorrect mail-in ballots. Mail-in voters in Pennsylvania must write the correct date on their return envelopes or risk having their ballots rejected. Due to high levels of voter excitement and confusion in news reports and social media channels, counties are getting lots of questions about when voters will actually get ballots in-hand. That won't be until early October, as is normal in Pennsylvania. Governor Josh Shapiro is taking steps to address affordable housing and homelessness. Dauphin County is absolving inmates of nearly 66 million dollars in room and board debts. Democrats are pumping $25 million into expanded voter outreach across Pennsylvania and nine other states as part of their effort to protect their narrow Senate majority. Hour 3: Major PA Supreme Court Decision: Steve Ulrich of Politics PA writes: “By a 4-3 vote, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court vacated a decision by the state's Commonwealth Court, finding it unconstitutional for undated mail ballots to be counted. Justices Kevin Dougherty, Sallie Updyke Mundy, Kevin Brobson and Daniel McCaffery wrote that ‘the Commonwealth Court lacked subject matter jurisdiction to review the matter given the failure to name the county boards of elections of all 67 counties,' and because the joinder of Secretary of the Commonwealth Al Schmidt ‘did not suffice to invoke the Commonwealth Court's original jurisdiction.'” You can read the full article here: https://www.politicspa.com/pa-supreme-court-overturns-commonwealth-court-decision-on-dating-mail-ballots/139187/

In this episode of "Hidden Killers With Tony Brueski," retired FBI Special Agent Jennifer Coffindaffer discusses the progress in the case of Ellen Greenberg's death, which was controversially ruled a suicide. The Pennsylvania Supreme Court has agreed to hear arguments, a significant step given the rarity of such cases being accepted. Jennifer explains the importance of this decision, as it addresses whether Ellen's parents have standing to challenge the medical examiner's ruling. They discuss the inconsistencies and bizarre aspects of the case, including the use of two different knives and the presence of multiple stab wounds, some post-mortem. The conversation highlights the hope for setting a legal precedent that allows parents to seek justice for their children and critiques the illogical aspects of the initial suicide ruling. Jennifer and Tony also touch on the psychological and forensic elements that make the suicide ruling questionable, emphasizing the need for a thorough re-evaluation of the case. **Main Points:** - Ellen Greenberg's death case is being heard by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. - The case questions whether Ellen's parents have standing to challenge the suicide ruling. - The lower court previously found the initial ruling appalling but ruled the parents lacked standing. - The case involves bizarre elements like two different knives and multiple stab wounds. - The decision could set a precedent for parents seeking justice for their children. - The suicide ruling is illogical considering the forensic and psychological evidence. - Jennifer and Tony emphasize the need for a thorough re-evaluation of the case. **Hashtags:** #EllenGreenberg #JenniferCoffindaffer #TonyBrueski #HiddenKillers #SuicideRuling #PennsylvaniaSupremeCourt #ForensicEvidence Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? Greenberg's family has been in a years-long fight with the City of Philadelphia over Ellen's manner of death since it was ruled a suicide in 2011. Ellen Greenberg was a 27-year-old first grade teacher at Juniata Park Academy in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. At approximately 6:40 p.m. on January 26, 2011, Ellen was pronounced dead as a result of twenty stab wounds, including ten to the back of her head and neck. In addition, there were eleven bruises in various stages of resolution on her right arm, abdomen, and right leg. Signs of abuse. Despite all the evidence to the contrary, the Medical Examiner, Dr. Marlon Osbourne, ruled her death a suicide. #BestGuests #EllenGreenberg #ColdCase #Homicide #Suicide #SchoolTeacher #Philly #Pennsylvania #SamGoldberg #JusticeForEllenGreenberg #truecrimecommunity #crime_news #truecrimepodcast #truestory #murdermystery #criminaljustice #crimestory

Earlier this week, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court issued a ruling related to abortion access. Technically, the case before the court was about Medicaid. But some of the justices signaled their willingness to make a bigger ruling about reproductive rights in the Commonwealth. City Cast Pittsburgh host Megan Harris breaks this all down with Susan Frietsche, co-executive director of the Women's Law Project, and Gillian McGoldrick, Pennsylvania state government reporter at The Philadelphia Inquirer. A ruling Monday about the limits on Medicaid funding to cover reproductive care in Pennsylvania sent shockwaves across the Commonwealth, but it could still be years before there's full clarity on whether abortion should be a fundamental right. We're with a plaintiff in the case — Sue Frietsche, co-executive director of the Women's Law Project — and a journalist with the Philadelphia Inquirer to talk about what happened and what's coming next. The Pennsylvania Supreme Court appears closer to recognizing for the first time that abortion is a right enshrined in the state constitution. Environmental groups are celebrating what they call a “record-breaking” settlement with U.S. Steel. A new website helps Pennsylvanians connect to healthcare and social services. A federal judge has refused to dismiss a lawsuit brought by seven Lancaster County Prison inmates who claim four district judges set cash bail at levels they can't afford -- leading to unconstitutional pretrial incarceration. Saturday marks the one-year anniversary of the toxic train derailment near the Ohio-Pennsylvania border. The Environmental Protection Agency has been overseeing clean-up efforts where the Norfolk Southern train crashed. But, one scientist is criticizing the agency's work in East Palestine, Ohio.Support WITF: https://www.witf.org/support/give-now/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
