HER Style Podcast | Buy Less, Shop Smarter, Build a Wardrobe You Love
When it comes to getting dressed, there are two things we all want… ➤ To make the most of what's in our closets ➤ And to have a great outfit option for every occasion Okay, there are probably a few others we could add to this list. But today, I want to help you tackle these 2 wardrobe goals with 1 simple solution: Creating your own outfit library. An “outfit library” ─also referred to as a “seasonal lookbook”─ is an organized collection of head-to-looks based on the pieces in your existing wardrobe. I create one of these for each of my 1:1 clients in order to help them save so much time getting ready in the morning, to ensure they have ideal outfit options for every event on their calendars, and to give them dozens of unique combinations for the existing pieces in their closets. After we complete this step, my clients are always blown away by how many new outfits they can make with what they already own! It's a genius technique to spend less money on unnecessary shopping, find greater contentment with what you have, and, of course, maximize your wardrobe. There are also some modern day apps to help you do this on your own. So it's no surprise that our friend, Crystal, submitted today's Q&A Thursday question to find out my honest thoughts on one of them in particular: the Stylebook app. In this episode, I'm sharing my professional take on wardrobe planning apps, the pros and cons and what I recommend, PLUS three (completely free!) alternatives to create your own outfit library and maximize what's in your wardrobe. Many ridiculous questions were asked of Mike Pence at his CNN town hall last night; however, some of his answers were even more absurd than the questions themselves. Then, the latest version of the Associated Press' Stylebook tells journalists to avoid using terms like "biological sex" in order to be more inclusive. And finally, the Atlanta City Council approves funding for a new police officer training center, the site of which has been routinely attacked by radical leftists.Guest Host: Andrea KayeGuests:Jessie Jane Duff | U.S. Marine Corps Gunnery Sergeant (Ret.)Angela Morabito | Spokesperson, Defense of Freedom InstituteTerry Schilling | President, American Principles ProjectDr. Tre Pennie | President, National Fallen Officer Foundation
The AP updated its stylebook, releasing their "Abortion Topical Guide." The guide contains verbiage that politicizes how media outlets around the world "should" discuss abortion. Among the language discussed, the AP doesn't want media discussing "fetal heartbeat", but want it called "cardiac activity." Jay, Jordan, and the Sekulow team discusses the monstrous changes. This and more today on Sekulow.

THE VIC PORCELLI SHOW 0:00 SEG 1 John Lott is the author of Gun Control Myths: How politicians, the media, and botched "studies" have twisted the facts on gun control AP Stylebook Finally Recognizes AR-15s Aren't Weapons of War By John R. Lott The term "assault weapon" is nonsensical. Finally, the Associated Press's highly influential Stylebook followed by the news media is recognizing that fact. As the AP now acknowledges, the term conveys "little meaning" and is "highly politicized." Politicians will obviously continue calling AR-15s "assault weapons" and "weapons of war," as Biden did a few days ago. And many seem to think that "AR" means assault rifle when it stands for ArmaLite rifle, after the company that developed it in the 1950s. But at least some of the media is now recognizing that "AR- or AK-style rifles designed for the civilian market" are fundamentally different than military weapons. https://crimeresearch.org/about-us/ 22:19 SEG 2 Celebrating the life of Paul Sorvino who passed away at the age of 83 on Monday 29:54 SEG 3 St. Louis County Councilman Mark Harder breaks down last night's council meeting. Read it below. Have you recently escaped, I mean, finished your stay at Camp L.I.S.A. and are looking for a new camp to spend the rest of your summer? Do you have a degree in Social Work but not in Common Sense? Well, look no further because We Excuse Every Democrat is the place for you! At Camp W.E.E.D we pride ourselves in the delusion that we can do whatever the heck we want without any repercussions. And this blind faith is the support for our three tenets of success: corruption, unaccountability, and greed! Our day at Camp W.E.E.D begins with a noon start time because, like, seriously, we're just too stoned, I mean tired to begin any earlier than that. Our most popular day-time theme-filled activities include: -Omission or guilt, how to tweak your financial interest statement -Joint rolling 101 -How to lose total recall of a conversation -Baking for edibles -Why it's better to use a burner phone to avoid getting caught and -Midnight cravings: are they cravings or are you just really hungry? And because we know our campers do get hungry, food is available 24/7 in our newly renovated Cheech and Chong Cucina. Nighttime will be spent staring at our hands, being fascinated with our moving fingers and singing the Camp W.E.E.D. Alma Mater: My Political Career is Filled With Corruption and Greed, I Hereby Pledge My Allegiance to Camp W.E.E.D. This year's honorary guest speaker at Camp W.E.E.D will be none other than Hillary Clinton, discussing her area of expertise: If you can't delete the texts and emails, delete the people. In order to maintain our illusion of acceptance, everyone is welcome at Camp W.E.E.D. But if you are a conservative, know that your attendance will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Per usual, our left leaning campers need not fear inculpation but, in the unlikely event of a raid, each liberal camper will be given a dark hoodie and instructed to burn this camp to the ground. Though most instructional fees are covered by our beloved camp director G. Soros, there is a one time camp fee of $5,000 but, don't worry, that requires absolutely no paperwork on your part. Locating our camp is a bit tricky as those darn conservatives don't want us within 1000 feet of any churches or schools, but, don't worry, with enough lobbying and pocket lining, we'll soon change that! In today's episode I discuss how updates to the Associated Press stylebook discourage use of the word ‘riot,' and how they've expanded the definition of the word ‘protest' to include ‘violence'." I discuss how this equivocation (an often used logical fallacy) is common in propaganda. In my opinion this is a perfect example of how words are being redefined for propagandistic purposes. I also discuss, for a moment, some of the flaws in both the Left and the Right's take on Black Lives Matter, and Antifa, protests. And at the end I spend a few minutes discussing an example of the varied use of the words "claim" and "said" in news media reporting in order to suggest clear implications to readers and listeners. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/zeropolitics/message

Words have power. They can educate, inform, or entertain. They can be used to shape how we think of our world around us. But, like any power, words can be misused. They can be potent weapons in cultural warfare, shaping how people think and believe. Since the 1950s a publication called the Associated Press Stylebook has been used by nearly all media outlets in the country as a way to standardize word meaning, grammar, and style. The Stylebook is updated every year as new words and terms enter our vocabulary. But, in recent years some of these changes seem to have a political agenda. Guests Roger Drinnon, Director of Editorial and Media Services for the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, and Peter Slayton, Social Media Manager for the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, tackle this topic on today’s Free to be Faithful.
Words have power. How we speak and how we’re spoken to impacts our lives. This is especially true of mass media, which is our window on the world around us. Most news media, newspapers, magazines, broadcast new media, use what’s called the Associated Press Stylebook in Writing. It’s been around since 1953, and it’s designed to provide a uniformity of writing style. It’s mostly concerned with grammar and other language conventions. Every year, the Stylebook is updated to reflect changes in language uses. But this year’s changes are problematic. Instead of listing when to use numerals instead of spelling out numbers, or proper use of commas, or when to use abbreviations, the latest changes seem to reflect an agenda. As examples, the phrase "pro-life" is no longer used. Instead, it’s "anti-abortion." And the word "abortionist" is also discouraged, with the phrase "abortion provider" being recommended instead. Rachel Alexander, senior editor of The Stream, talks about why this is happening and what it means for journalists and media providers.
