Episode 5407: Flip Flop In Iran Discussions
Miranda Devine, Fox News Contributor, NY Post Columnist, author of THE BIG GUY: How a President and His Son Sold Out America, and host of the hit podcast "Podforce One," joined us on the Guy Benson Show today to discuss Jill Biden's "despicable" flip-flop on former President Biden's 2024 debate performance. Devine discussed Jill Biden's comments regarding her concern about the then-president's health, despite her insistence that President Biden was in good health at the time, and you can listen to the full interview below! Today's Headlines: Trump announced the US and Iran were near "finalization" of a deal on Saturday, then posted less than 24 hours later that he's "not in a rush" — with the reported framework giving Iran $25 billion in unfrozen assets in exchange for disposing of enriched uranium and temporarily reopening the Strait of Hormuz, while Iranian officials claim American diplomats have been privately telling them to ignore Trump's posts because they're "primarily for media consumption," which is either reassuring or terrifying. Tulsi Gabbard resigned as Director of National Intelligence citing her husband's rare bone cancer diagnosis, though it follows months of reporting that Trump was already planning to fire her. A gunman opened fire at a White House security checkpoint Saturday, was shot by officers, and died at the hospital — he had previously been arrested for walking into a restricted White House area while claiming to be Jesus Christ. A federal prosecutor was indicted for trying to leak Jack Smith's sealed Mar-a-Lago report by disguising it as a file called "bundt_cake_recipe.pdf" and emailing it to herself, which is both a federal crime and the most creative act of resistance we've seen all year. Hasan Piker and CodePink's Medea Benjamin were reportedly subpoenaed over a humanitarian aid trip to Cuba — except neither actually received subpoenas, and Piker had cleared the trip with the Treasury Department's own office beforehand. Minnesota became the first state to ban prediction market platforms like Kalshi and Polymarket outright, and the Trump administration immediately sued the state in response. CBS issued copyright notices against Colbert's surprise public access appearance the day after his Late Show finale, then backed off after universal backlash. And New York City recovered $9 million in unpaid idling fines from Amazon, because a $2 trillion company apparently couldn't be bothered to pay its tickets. All eyes are on the Makerfield by-election, where Andy Burnham is hoping he can scrape through a tight race, beat Reform and become Labour leader… and then the PM. His hopes are coming under strain as the media, and his political rivals, train their eyes on him. Both Wes Streeting and Keir Starmer said over the weekend they would want to (eventually) look at re-joining the EU. That places Burnham in a bind – Labour members are generally pro-EU, while around 60% of Makerfield constituents voted for Brexit. Lo and behold, following Streeting and Starmers' statements, Burnham U-turned on a previous pledge to re-join the EU. His critics say this is true to form, pointing to previous ideological flexibility for political expediency. In reaction to these U-turns, Lord Hannan expresses dismay with politicians who renege on their promise that the 2016 Brexit referendum would be a ‘once in a generation' vote – explaining that Brexit was a problem with execution, not ideas. He also argues that any deal to return us to the EU would inevitably lead to the EU imposing punishing demands on the UK, including losing the pound. And Lord Foulkes trots out the Starmerite line… arguing that the PM's downfall is the fault of the media, run by ‘multi-millionaires who live abroad', rather than personal failure.Julia Hartley-Brewer broadcasts on Talk from Monday to Thursday, 10AM to 1PM.Available on YouTube and streaming platforms, along with DAB+ radio and your smart speaker. Thirsty Thursday on the show and today we heard about women's flip-flop frustration with men. Some Florida woman stole a Red Bull truck! CBS may need to hire a new cameraman, it's National Dog Bonding Day, the hottest debate in the country right now is whether data centers should be built in cities, and we found out Patti has gotten multiple tickets from police in the SAME DAY. Willard and Dibs continue to react to tonight's Giants lineup, which features an off day for Matt Chapman to get Bryce Eldridge's bat in the lineup. Can the Giants keep flip flopping the infield and the lineup like this?
Justin Pearson goes viral with two completely different personas in separate clips — and Joe Pags asks how anyone buys it. Is it political theater or something more? Then, President Trump touts strong job numbers in a press conference, taking aim at how previous numbers were reported. Plus, Sean Duffy clears up who really stopped the Spirit–JetBlue merger. And Kay Hill joins for a loaded, wide-ranging conversation — breaking down a newly discovered planet with a possible atmosphere, the shutdown of Infowars and what it means for alternative media, and concerns around hantavirus cases tied to cruise travel. A fun but informative segment that hits science, media, and real-world health in one shot. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Elias Makos welcomes in Beryl Wajsman, president of the Institute for Public Affairs of Montreal, and Trudie Mason, veteran newscaster at CJAD 800. It was Eric Duhaime’s turn yesterday to reverse course on his stance on Bill 96. Duhaime told reporters yesterday that he would amend the Bill and continue to make use of the notwithstanding clause. The current state (or lack of state) of trade talks between Canada and the U.S. is becoming a bigger story every day as we approach key dates this summer. Prime Minister Mark Carney voiced his irritation to reporters on Thursday, pushing back on the nation that provincial booze bans were hurting negotiations.
Happy National Boston Marathon Day! We kick off the episode with some very realistic running motivation, reminding everyone that making it to the start line with your bodily fluids sorted out is half the battle, and taking a trip to the medical tent just means you get a cooler story. We recount Erin's brutal weekend "marathon" hike up Pulpit Rock, which featured Dan hiking in flip flops and eventually having to shove a 40 pound, heavily breathing Bucky the pug into his backpack. Erin also gives a week two update on her "Pull-Up Revolution," celebrating the awakening of her "sleeper cell muscles". Erin then spirals over her invite to the Dick's Sporting Goods Varsity Team brand trip in Tampa, specifically stressing over how to dress "camera ready" without looking like she consulted ChatPPP for fashion advice. In niche internet and pop culture news, we cover the genius behind the "Two Cute Labs" (Stink and Bink) who went viral for selling "your ad here" space on their backs. We also discuss the growing "Jason Kelce fatigue" after his appearance at The Masters frustrated traditionalists, and debate the so called decorum decline involving college bros flipping off cameras outside Augusta National. In sports, we break down two disqualifications: Matt Choi getting DQ'd from an Ironman for drafting (and missing the penalty tent because he skipped orientation), and the shocking overturning of a Pokémon Go Regional Championship simply because the winner put his headphones down too forcefully. We then present our very serious, hard hitting journalism segment: an interview with Max Martin, the CEO of the Enhanced Games! We debrief our chat with him, discussing the $1 million world record prizes, the fascinating concept of building a digital first stadium in just four weeks, and how athletes are utilizing FDA approved testing and doctors to compete safely. Finally, we wrap up with a heartwarming "No Bad, No Sad" story about King Randall's program, where he takes young men to the grocery store to teach them essential life skills like picking produce, doing laundry, and speaking with eye contact.
John and Jim witness Sylvester McCoy's entrance as the Seventh Doctor with sharply divided first impressions, a regeneration Jim wasn't expecting to see, Kate O'Mara's scene-stealing Mel impression, and listener mail exploding with passionate defenses, dire warnings, and Shag's triumphant return. The Regeneration Confusion: The opening delivers McCoy in a wig tumbling around the TARDIS console, but does blunt force trauma from turbulence really count as a dignified send-off for the most maligned Doctor? The Rani's pre-credits kidnapping analyzed as "probably the campiest scene in Doctor Who ever." Jim's Verdict: Not Impressed Opening confession sets the tone for controversy: Jim dubs McCoy "the Tumbler Doctor" and struggles to see anything beyond "Uncle Morty's Carnival of Fun" children's show host energy. Discussion covers whether this is purposeful Troughton homage or just broad physical comedy, whether McCoy's acting reads as awkward versus committed, and Jim's struggle between respecting the evolution promise versus judging what's actually on screen in Part 1. The "Children's Show" Debate: Does Season 24 represent a deliberate pivot back to Doctor Who as kids' programming? Jim raises the uncomfortable question after recognizing McCoy primarily as BBC children's performer. John pushes back on the script but concedes the Doctor's characterization in this story absolutely plays as juvenile. Kate O'Mara's Double Duty: Extended appreciation for Kate's Bonnie Langford impression complete with chirpiness, voice work, and gradually losing it as the Doctor frustrates her. Jim admits the initial visual shock of "seeing Kate O'Mara as Bonnie Langford" but acknowledges she won him over. The hosts debate whether the Rani gets enough screen time and whether this story serves the character as well as "Mark of the Rani." What Happened to Mel?: Jim calls out the regression: "They took the Mickey Mouse out of Mel." From confident agency in Trial to suggesting they just leave and go back to the TARDIS, plus scream count reaching numbers 5-7 in just two episodes. Is this the Mel we admired or has she become Peri 2.0? John defends specific moments (the flip, proving identity, computer knowledge) while acknowledging some scenes don't look good. The Icona chemistry tease explored. Production Highlights: The bubble traps earn universal praise as maybe the best effect in Classic Who history—the spinning, bouncing, exploding sequence perfectly executed. Tetraps debut Doctor Who's first animatronics with six full heads for the leisure center scene. The Citadel exterior combined with effects impresses. Jim notes "effects are better—they made another jump." Malapropisms and Outfits: McCoy's word-mangling wears out its welcome fast for both hosts. The trying-on-previous-Doctors'-outfits sequence judged as "too winky winky" and unnecessary fanservice. Discovery that "Mrs. Malaprop" comes from 1775 play The Rivals. The question mark vest that McCoy hated. The Bowery Boys comparison for hat and coat. The Leisure Center Problem: Why introduce this massive 80s-heavy concept (complete with Dugadoos music) in Part 3 only to abandon it? Discussion of wasted opportunities and typical Doctor Who late-story concept bloat. The anklet bracelets vs. original "ball of bees" control method questioned. Production Context: JNT wanted out, BBC couldn't find replacement, Sidney Newman brought in as consultant with idea to bring back Troughton traveling with old-fashioned 12-year-old Beatles fan. The "impish person" concept stuck. McCoy cast from Twelfth Night production same night Cubby Broccoli saw Timothy Dalton for Bond. Andrew Cartmel signs as new story editor influenced by Judge Dredd and Dr. Manhattan from Watchmen. Ratings: 5.1, 4.2, 4.3, 4.9—not good. Coming Up Next: Patreon Exclusive (Monday - Episode 167): Comic "The Gift" (four parts, not one or three!), more music, Memory TARDIS with Colin now added to the wheel, and Big Finish audio Flip Flop featuring Seventh Doctor and Mel. SONG: TRUMP FLIP FLOP JOE KENT Hear comedian Jim Gossett on Rob Carson's National Talk Show 12-3 on WMLB 1690 AM in ATL
A top counterterrorism official resigns amid controversy—and suddenly changes his stance on Iran. Is this about principle… or pressure? We break down the timeline, the claims, and the political fallout. ⚡ EPISODE SUMMARY Today's episode dives into the sudden resignation and controversial statements from Joe Kent, raising serious questions about credibility, timing, and national security. Kent—who previously warned that Iran posed a direct threat and even urged aggressive military action—has now claimed that Iran posed “no imminent threat” to the United States. That reversal is at the center of today's breakdown. The episode explores allegations that Kent was removed from sensitive intelligence briefings related to Iran due to concerns about internal leaks, and that his resignation may have come before potential dismissal. We also examine the broader context: multiple recent terror attacks, Kent's role overseeing counterterrorism, and whether failures in that role contributed to his exit. The conversation expands into the geopolitical reality of Iran's missile capabilities, ongoing tensions in the Middle East, and the role of allies like Israel in shaping U.S. foreign policy. Claims that lobbying efforts influenced military decisions are also addressed—along with the counterargument that shared strategic interests drive cooperation. We also touch on the involvement of figures like Donald Trump and Lindsey Graham in shaping Iran policy discussions, and how political alignment can shift rapidly under pressure. At its core, this episode asks a bigger question: when narratives change this quickly, is it about new intelligence—or something else entirely?

In this episode of The Winston Marshall Show, I sit down with journalist and former government adviser Ben Judah to dissect the Chagos Islands deal, Diego Garcia, and the geopolitical battle shaping Britain's future. We examine why the UK agreed to hand sovereignty of the Chagos Islands to Mauritius, the role of the International Court of Justice, and how UN decolonisation rulings placed mounting legal and diplomatic pressure on Britain. Judah explains the strategic importance of Diego Garcia, the sensitive US military capabilities based there, and why American officials quietly pushed London towards a settlement. The conversation explores China's growing influence in the Indian Ocean, the risk of Mauritius pivoting towards Beijing, and why British officials feared losing access to critical US military infrastructure. We debate sovereignty, international law, national security, and whether Britain was defending its interests or surrendering territory under diplomatic pressure. We also discuss the future of Britain's Overseas Territories, proposals to integrate them more fully into the United Kingdom, and whether the Chagos deal reflects strategic realism or managed decline.A serious and wide-ranging conversation about geopolitics, American power, China's rise, and whether Britain still knows how to protect its global position.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------To see more exclusive content and interviews consider subscribing to my substack here: https://www.winstonmarshall.co.uk/-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------FOLLOW ME ON SOCIAL MEDIA:Substack: https://www.winstonmarshall.co.uk/X: https://twitter.com/mrwinmarshallInsta: https://www.instagram.com/winstonmarshallLinktree: https://linktr.ee/winstonmarshall----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Chapters 00:00 Introduction01:20 The Strategic Importance of Diego Garcia06:32 The Secret US–UK Deal and “Super Capacities”09:35 UN Rulings, ICJ Pressure & China's Role12:09 Why Washington Forced Britain's Hand14:47 Legal vs Military Defence: The China Risk18:52 Could Mauritius Win a Binding Judgment?21:17 Why the Americans Might Move the Base23:10 The Real Prize: UK Access to US Capabilities28:54 “Everything Changes So Nothing Changes” – Inside the Deal30:00 Can Mauritius Invite China In?32:31 Why Rubio, Vance & the Pentagon Backed It35:29 Trump's Flip-Flop and the Iran Question40:31 What If Mauritius Breaks the Agreement?42:31 Why Britain Is Paying 0.2% of Its Defence Budget44:33 This Isn't About Land — It's About Power45:30 Legal, Diplomatic & Hard Power Layers of Defence51:52 Overseas Territories: From Colonies to “Overseas Kingdoms” Hosted on Acast. In the third hour of episode #1156, Clay Edwards defends Turning Point USA's mission to counter liberal indoctrination on campuses and motivate young conservative voters, dismissing financial criticisms and Candace Owens' drama as distractions—emphasizing TPUSA's role in making Gen Z the most conservative generation. Clay plays a Glenn Beck clip exposing Fulton County election discrepancies in 2020, with ballot surges and chain-of-custody issues flipping Georgia's results. Addressing listener chats, he clarifies his stance on Epstein prosecutions (skeptical but open to facts), rejects Trump pedophile smears, and stresses evidence over conspiracies. U.S. Military Action in Venezuela and Its Aftermath U.S. operation in Venezuela was not a war but a short military action to arrest Nicolás Maduro, described as an indicted narco-terrorist. This was not intended as a regime change through force but rather a law enforcement action supported by the military. After Maduro’s arrest, Delcy Rodríguez, Venezuela’s former Vice President and a staunch communist, was sworn in as interim president. The text provides extensive background on her Marxist roots, corruption allegations (including gold smuggling), and anti-American stance. Advocations for free and fair elections in Venezuela to replace the current regime with a pro-America, pro-market leader, highlighting Venezuela’s vast oil and gold reserves and its potential for economic recovery if corruption and communism are removed. There is discussion of U.S. legal precedent (e.g., Noriega case, Ker-Frisbie doctrine) supporting extraterritorial arrests and the constitutional authority of the President to order such actions, even if they conflict with international law like the UN Charter. Minnesota Political Crisis and Somali Fraud Scandal The second part shifts to domestic U.S. politics, focusing on Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, who allegedly faces a massive fraud scandal involving Somali immigrant communities and misuse of government funds. The fraud is described as “the worst instance of fraud in American history,” totaling around $9 billion. Minnesota Democrats are guilty of corruption, vote-buying schemes, and inciting violence to distract from the scandal, even suggesting that Walz called for “war with the federal government.” A congressional hearing exchange is included, highlighting welfare dependency statistics among Somali immigrant households compared to native Minnesotans, painting a picture of systemic abuse and failed integration policies. Donald Trump has finally thrown in the towel and caved on releasing the Epstein files after realizing that up to 100 House Republicans planned to reject the President's directive and vote for the disclosure. Trump's incredible about-face — from calling the issue a "Democratic hoax" one day to urging Republicans to vote for release the next — shows just how much his influence over the MAGA coalition has weakened. Jimmy claims this episode reveals a broader collapse of Trump's control as lawmakers, donors, and influencers increasingly resist him over issues from foreign policy to worker visas. This Epstein-file vote provides yet more evidence that Trump's political power has fractured and that his base is now holding him accountable rather than following him. Plus segments on Trump's unhinged meltdown over Massie and Marjorie Taylor Greene's MAGA apostasy and Trump's secret plan to keep the Epstein files hidden. Also featuring Stef Zamorano and Mike MacRae. And a hilarious phone call from JD Vance!
