Lo hizo de manera anónima, como pedimos que se haga; así que, a pesar de que nunca se lo había contado a nadie, nos autorizó a que la citáramos, como sigue: «Crecí con... padres divorciados por infidelidad, [y] yo con desórdenes [de] alimentación tremendos.... Un compañero de la escuela [abusó de mí], pero... creo que yo tuve la culpa porque empecé a conocer cosas que no eran de mi edad muy tempranamente.... Conocí a alguien a quien me entregué en todos los sentidos. Mi error fue que, desde la primera vez que nos vimos, me acosté con él, pero todo esto lo hacía para llenar un gran vacío en mi vida. También abusó de mí verbal y físicamente, pero seguí con él casi dos años, hasta que me di cuenta de que él sólo me usaba para complacerse y robarme mi dinero. Lo dejé, y ahora hace dos años descubrí que él me infectó con el virus que causa el SIDA. ¡Me siento tan fracasada! ... Me siento muy decepcionada y abrumada.... »Mi mayor ilusión era tener una familia, y sé que la realidad mía será que nadie me ame así como yo estoy.... Sé que pequé demasiado y por eso recibí esta consecuencia. Tengo veintiséis años, y siento que mi vida ya no sirve y que no tengo ya un camino que recorrer.» Este es el consejo que le dimos: »Estimada amiga: »Lamentamos todo el trauma que usted ha sufrido a pesar de ser tan joven. Dice que contrajo el virus del SIDA por haber pecado demasiado.  Si fuera así, entonces todo el mundo tendría el virus, porque todos hemos pecado demasiado. Como Dios es santo, un solo pecado es demasiado; por lo tanto, cada uno de nosotros ha pecado demasiado para ser aceptado por Él. Por eso Dios entregó a su único Hijo Jesucristo para que muriera en la cruz a fin de pagar por nuestros pecados. Así que ese virus no es un castigo de Dios por los pecados que usted ha cometido. »Sin embargo, sí hay consecuencias naturales en este mundo. Si usted mete la mano en el fuego, se quemará. No se debe a que Dios quiere que se queme, sino que la naturaleza del fuego es quemar. Cuando opta por tener relaciones sexuales fuera del matrimonio, la consecuencia natural es que corre el riesgo de contraer el virus del SIDA o una enfermedad venérea.
