Giulio Filia aka fixon Uk is born in Sardinia in 1997. Thanks to his older brother touring around the island to Dj in some of the best night clubs, he started getting passionate about electronic music at a very young age. At the age of 15 he had the chance to play in a local club and that's when music becomes vital in his life: three years later he decides to come to London to fulfill his desire to improve music production skills and most of all to meet other producers, djs and everyone involved in the underground music scene. Given the opportunity to attend the SubBass music production academy, he got to meet Tutor Michael L Pennman, a Minus label artist that Giulio has been supporting for many years. In the meantime, he has joined events and promotion group “We are Family” and became resident at 10B London, playing in different clubs all around London; he has also became resident at Ovest club in Sardinia after supporting them since the very early stages of their opening as a loyal clubber. From his earliest childhood and with many musicians in his family, he was immersed in many different music styles, if not all. He went to music theory at the age of 10 and played piano, sax and guitar, receiving the highest honors. He felt in love very soon with electronic music (especially techno) and when he was 14yo, it was clear : he knew that one day he would become a DJ. Because for him, he felt it as such a great feeling and a real pleasure be able to mix incredible tracks together and share it for the people. While time has passed and life diverting him from his goals, he finally decided to buy his first gear in May 2016 : definitely one of the best decisions he ever made. Since then, he never stopped training and started to focus on the styles of music he likes the most. Welcome to this week's edition of Subterranean Homesick Grooves™, a weekly electronica-based radio show presented originally on CHMA FM 106.9 at Mount Allison University in Atlantic Canada (but expanded to distribution on other terrestrial and internet-based radio stations), and also distributed as a global podcast through iTunes. The show is normally programmed and mixed by Jonathan Clark (as DJ Bolivia), although some weeks very occasionally feature guest mixes by other Canadian DJ's. The show encompasses many sub-genres within the realm of electronic dance music, but the main focus is definitely on tech-house and techno, and a small amount of progressive, trance, & minimal. Due to the mix of styles, you may hear combinations of tracks that wouldn't normally be featured together in a DJ's live set, but this show is intended to feature various styles of electronic/dance music. I pay a lot of attention to the programming, and to the development of energy levels. If you're a first-time listener, you might think that the start of the show is quite tame, on the slower and "deeper" side of house or techno. However, give it time. Pay attention to how the styles change throughout the mix, and how the energy builds. Sometimes, I'll be very erratic and jump around between several genres, just for fun. Sometimes, I'll do a particularly dark show, with a heavy emphasis on techno. Most of the time however, you'll find a mix of mostly deep house or minimal or deep techno for the first third of the mix, building into a more upbeat section of tech-house through the middle, perhaps building up to some energetic tracks at the end, which often trespass into the realm of more contemporary house. Don't treat the show as a collection of individual tracks ... think of it as a cohesive experience; an hour-long aural journey of reflection and beats.
