“How many people do you think go into a bar and say: ‘I'd like an Everclear on the rocks, please…'?” Looking back, 1997 seems utterly surreal… To put things in perspective, 1997 marked the debut of South Park on Comedy Central, the release of Radiohead's breakthrough, third album, OK Computer, the beginning of the final season of Seinfeld, and (of course) the arrival of Metallica's conclusion to The Loads with Reload. Perhaps one of the most surreal (and tragic) parts of 1997 was the time a bunch of children in a band called Hanson went viral with a song called MMMBop while a lesser known, criminally underrated, and FAR SUPERIOR band (with an extremely similar sounding name, consisting of former members of Helmet & Quicksand) called Handsome released their one (and only) album, Handsome, earlier that same year. Sometimes life is just too weird and utterly unfair… It's time to discover the power of “a better magical piece of paper” that is not a college degree and understand that whenever someone uses the term ‘dating' that “we know exactly what they're talking about”. Find out who “stayed metal the whole time”, who was “chuggin' the D”, and who wasn't going to metal shows “unless it was Metallica” when you JOIN US as we go back in time almost 30 years with THE CLASS OF 1997. Ohio State, Oregon, and Indiana shake up college football's transfer portal, pulling in big-time talents and sparking national title buzz. Can Christian Alliegro anchor the Buckeyes' defense after replacing NFL first-rounders? Will Michael Bennett III's transition from Yale secure Oregon's offensive line and playoff hopes? Nick Marsh's arrival in Indiana raises expectations for a breakout offense—are the Hoosiers poised for a deeper run? The conversation focused on immediate impact players—like Joe Brunner (IU) John Walker and Terry Moore (IU) and Koi Perich (Oregon)—and examined how roster moves could decide conference races. A key theme was the high stakes of offensive line transfers, player development, and coaching philosophy in modern college football. The discussion explored whether heavy reliance on portal talent hurts long-term success and which programs expertly balance recruiting with portal additions. Don't miss this inside look at how Ohio State, Oregon, and Indiana could shape the Big Ten race and national picture this season. Support us by supporting our sponsors! Episode 274 of Beer, Blues, and BS delivers a packed show of vinyl unboxings, massive industry shakeups, and peak neighborhood absurdity! Mark Kidder officially breaks the seal on the newly released, remastered edition of Metallica's Reload, sparking a deep dive into favorite tracks and rare demo discs. The conversation takes a serious turn as the guys dissect the massive wave of corporate radio layoffs sweeping the nation, breaking down the harsh reality of losing local voices and critical live emergency coverage to automated broadcasting. Over at the bar, JS battles a golden ale with an unexpected "Christmas tree" undertone before redeeming his palate with a smooth Mississippi pecan brown ale. Doc checks in live from an airport lounge to review a crisp raspberry gose, while Howard Blues attempts to launch "Kombucha Appreciation Month"—much to the absolute skepticism of the room. Defense investing is rapidly moving from the margins to the center of capital markets as geopolitical fragmentation, rising global tensions, and technological innovation reshape how nations allocate resources. What was once viewed as a niche or even overlooked sector is now emerging as a critical pillar of global infrastructure and security. In this episode of The Bid, host Oscar Pulido sits down with Rolf Heitmeyer, Head of Industrials in BlackRock's Fundamental Equities Group, to explore the forces driving this shift in defense investing. They discuss the surge in global defense spending, the changing competitive landscape between incumbent contractors and new entrants, and how innovation - from AI-enabled systems to low-cost drones - is transforming modern warfare. As geopolitical megaforces continue to evolve and technology reshapes security priorities, defense investing is becoming an increasingly relevant theme for investors seeking to understand the intersection of global politics, innovation, and markets.Key moments in this episode:00:00 Introduction01:41 AI Spending Surge Explained04:52 Tech Industry Shakeup Ahead07:14 Attritable vs Exquisite09:49 Scaling the Arsenal11:32 Startup Innovation Tour14:39 Defense in Portfolios16:05 A Long Supercycle17:13 Wrap Up and DisclosuresDefense investing, capital markets, AI investing, megaforces, geopolitical risk, stock market trends, defense technologySources: “Venture capital investment in defense tech surges while M&A activity slows” S&P Global March 2026; “Over 11,000 munitions in 16 Days of the Iran War: ‘Command of the Reload' Governs Endurance” RUSI, March 2026; Department of War Statistics; Data from BlackRock Fundamental Equities as of April 2026.This content is for informational purposes only and is not an offer or a solicitation. Episode 260 - Patrick Flanigan Returns. A Decade Later and Ready to Reload Almost ten years ago, world famous trick shooter Patrick Flanigan joined me on the HuntFishTravel Podcast after one of my favorite turkey hunts in South Dakota's Black Hills. We swapped hunting stories, talked about life in the outdoor industry, and had one of those conversations that still makes me laugh every time I listen to it. Then... he disappeared. Patrick stepped away from the outdoor industry, left behind a career that included nine world records, television shows, sold-out exhibition shooting performances, and years on the road. Like many people, he reached a point where the constant travel and pressure outweighed the passion that had driven him for nearly two decades. Rather than burn out completely, he chose to step away and focus on what mattered most, his family and rediscovering himself. Now he's back. In this episode, Patrick shares why the timing finally felt right to launch his 2026 Reloaded Tour, what fans can expect from his live exhibition shooting shows, and why he's approaching this next chapter very differently than the first. Instead of trying to fit into someone else's mold, he's building shows around entertainment, authenticity, and bringing new people into the shooting sports, whether they've ever picked up a shotgun or not. We also catch up on everything that's changed over the past decade, from raising four daughters who love the outdoors, to moving back to Wisconsin, to the role AI and social media now play in entertainment and outdoor content. Along the way, we revisit some of our old podcast memories, and laugh about just how much has changed... and how much hasn't. If you listened to the newly republished Episode 259, you'll appreciate hearing where Patrick's journey has taken him nearly a decade later. And if you're new to Patrick Flanigan, this is the perfect introduction to one of the most accomplished exhibition shooters in the world, and someone who's rediscovering why he fell in love with the shooting sports in the first place. Follow Patrick on Facebook, YouTube, and his social channels for announcements about upcoming 2026 Reloaded Tour dates and appearances. As public events are announced, I'll update the links here so you can catch one of his live shows.

Men's Podcast Episode 1 by ResLife Ministry
Ohio State isn't slowing down. On this episode of The Buckeyes Blitz, Jeff “Tito” Thitoff breaks down a loaded day in Buckeye Nation — starting with Jett Harrison, the 2028 five-star wide receiver and younger brother of Marvin Harrison Jr., committing to Ohio State.Tito also dives into the Buckeyes' ridiculous wide receiver pipeline, Cortez Hankton proving Ohio State hasn't missed a beat after Brian Hartline, and another massive defensive line win with Marcus Fecato joining the 2027 class. But it's not all roses — Tennessee may be turning up the NIL heat for five-star running back David Gabriel George.Plus, Jeremiah Smith sits at No. 1 in PFF's top college football players, Julian Sayin gets major QB1 love, Ohio State basketball has Sweet 16 potential, Sydney Mobley gives the women's team a major boost, and former Buckeye Dillon Dingler earns MLB All-Star honors.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

The Detroit Pistons have been one of the busiest teams of the offseason, and Aaron Johnson and Jasper Apollonia break down every move on this week's episode of the Palace of Pistons Podcast. The guys discuss Detroit's trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder to acquire Isaiah Joe and what the sharpshooter brings to the Pistons' rotation. They also analyze the free-agent additions of John Collins and Kevin Huerter, examining how both veterans fit alongside Cade Cunningham and the rest of Detroit's young core. Next, Aaron and Jasper dive into the ongoing contract negotiations between the Pistons and Jalen Duren. Has Trajan Langdon handled the extension talks the right way? Should Detroit lock up its young center now, or is there value in remaining patient? The guys share their perspectives on the negotiations and what a potential deal could look like. To wrap up the show, Aaron and Jasper preview the upcoming NBA Summer League, highlighting the players they'll be watching most closely and what Pistons fans should keep an eye on as Detroit's young talent takes the floor in Las Vegas.
Our Free Agency Season Finale Special is loaded! The Leafs were a centrepiece on Canada Day after reshaping their roster, highlighted by the signing of veteran goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky to form a tandem with Anthony Stolarz and a wave of additions including Nick Paul, Jack Roslovic, Teddy Blueger and Colton Sissons. While Toronto appears to have better-defined roles throughout its lineup, there are questions about whether the club sacrificed too much speed. Zach Werenski remained in Columbus after apparently blocking a reported trade to Dallas, creating another layer of drama for the Blue Jackets. Meanwhile, the Edmonton Oilers cleared significant cap space by moving Darnell Nurse to San Jose without retaining salary. Vancouver continued its retool by flipping Marcus Pettersson for a first-round pick before adding Jamie Oleksiak and Montreal locked up cornerstone forward Ivan Demidov to a long-term extension Elsewhere, Winnipeg signed Stuart Skinner to stabilize its goaltending depth without necessarily taking Connor Hellebuyck off the trade market, as the Jets continue searching for help down the middle. Plus, Devils offer sheet, Larkin stays put, Florida pivots, Caps are HUGE and Sharks expected to take the next step.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Steve Friess is running for the U.S. House along with 9 other candidates. He joined me in the studio for an hour a few days ago. It was a wide ranging discussion that covered everything from the Save America Act, the Convention of States, guns, so-called affordable housing and exactly who he is. I pressed him on the central claim of most of his campaign material--that he helped author executive orders for the Trump Administration. The first question I asked him was what has he done in Wyoming politics. It's a great interview that lasted longer than it was supposed to.

What if “retirement” for founders isn't about stopping work, but finally getting relief? The conversation unpacks why builders rarely stop building: founders are wired to create, not to consume, and the fantasy of beach life usually shows up at a low-energy point when what's really needed is recovery. They compare founder burnout to wanting the finish line without running the race, and note how exits often lead from “margaritas” to “domain names” within months because the calling returns once the nervous system resets. The key reframe: separate a recovery plan from a retirement plan, and define “retirement” as creating on your own terms—less panic, fewer hated parts (like investor pressure or endless hours), more control, and a sustainable way to keep doing the work you love. What to listen for:00:49 Builder DNA and Relief00:57 Carpenter Story and Pain03:06 Four Minute Founder Brain04:31 Broken Retirement Dream05:13 Reload and Retire Again06:31 Beach Metaphor Explained09:58 Athletes vs Founder Longevity12:00 Vacation Checklist Trap15:35 No Substitute for Mission17:29 Finish Line Fantasy18:45 Recovery Not Retirement20:35 Builders Need Purpose25:14 Retired But Uncharged27:00 Creation Over Consumption30:16 Retirement On Your Terms32:26 Design Better CircuitsResources:Startup Therapy Podcasthttps://www.startups.com/community/startup-therapyWebsitehttps://www.startups.com/beginLinkedInhttps://www.linkedin.com/company/startups-co/Join our Network of Top FoundersWil Schroterhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/wilschroter/Ryan Rutanhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/ryan-rutan/
