Sorry I screwed the post last week this is the July 14 broadcast y'all missed.
There are still newspapers that print the news--that actually do journalism. That's opposed to rags that print nothing but opinion and attempt to tell you what to think. On our weekend I came across a small paper in Basin reporting on the same thing as the Cow Pie but with very different results.

The colon, :, is a punctuation mark consisting of two equally sized dots aligned vertically. A colon often precedes an explanation, a list, or a quoted sentence. It is also used between hours and minutes in time, between certain elements in medical journal citations, between chapter and verse in Bible citations, between two numbers in a ratio, and, in the US, for salutations in business letters and other formal letters. - WikipediaThis, as always is largely irrelevant to the episode today but the title had a lot of colons in it. Why did the Wyoming Tribune Eagle publish a clearly anti-American op-ed the day after Independence Day? It's not because they're interested in presenting both sides, that's not their style. It's because that's the prevailing opinion of their editorial board. Regardless, the headline on their opinion section the day after Independence Day: We Shouldn't Have Won (The Revolution).
Welcome to the What's Next! podcast with Tiffani Bova. This week, I'm reflecting on a conversation I had with Diane Hamilton. Diane is a nationally syndicated radio host, award-winning speaker, author, and educator. She is the MBA Program Chair at the Forbes School of Business and has a Ph.D. in Business Management. She is the creator of the Curiosity Code Index and the author of 4 books. THIS EPISODE IS PERFECT FOR…if you have the desire to increase your desire to learn and become more curious in both your personal and professional lives, this episode is for you. TODAY'S MAIN MESSAGE…how do we measure the “soft stuff?” How do we encourage, reward, and quantify the benefits of curiosity? Why is it that innovators throughout history–Einstein, Edison, Jobs–point to their curiosity as their most important contribution? Are you getting curious yet? In today's episode, Dr. Diane Hamilton helps us answer these questions and explains why it is so vital that we stoke the flames of our own curiosity. She also shares with us her groundbreaking research and what exactly the F.A.T.E. of curiosity can tell us. WHAT I LOVE MOST…I was fascinated by this whole concept of curiosity and how we can become more curious as leaders, as contributors, and as innovators. The soft stuff is so important to our success, not only as a company but for the people we lead and manage as well. The Supreme Court has been busy releasing opinions. Last week, it ruled against a ten billion dollar lawsuit from Mexico against American gun manufacturers. The Mexican government had alleged that US gun companies were fueling cartel violence south of the border. But in a unanimous opinion, liberal Justice Elena Kagan wrote that the lawsuit didn't reach the burden required by a 2005 law. The court declined to take up two other gun cases: one challenging Maryland's ban on semi-automatic weapons and the other challenging Rhode Island's ban on high-capacity magazines. To talk more about the Supreme Court's decisions (and lack of decisions) and what this means for gun policy, we spoke to Stephen Gutowski. He runs The Reload, a news outlet dedicated to firearms and the gun debate. And in headlines: The US and China (kinda) reach a trade agreement, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard warns of a nuclear holocaust, and the White House Rose Garden gets a makeover.Show Notes:Check out The Reload – https://thereload.com/Subscribe to the What A Day Newsletter – https://tinyurl.com/3kk4nyz8What A Day – YouTube – https://www.youtube.com/@whatadaypodcastFollow us on Instagram – https://www.instagram.com/crookedmedia/For a transcript of this episode, please visit crooked.com/whataday

Ever feel like you're coaching on repeat? You've handed a client every tool they need, yet they keep circling back with the same issue. Or maybe you're working with an athlete who hears everything you say, but nothing seems to land. It's as if they're outsourcing ownership of the entire process. It can start to feel like a rehearsed dance. You say your part, they nod along, and both of you move forward on autopilot. But this doesn't have to be just frustrating—it can be an inflection point for us. In today's episode, Brett breaks down how to navigate this all-too-common dynamic and use it as a way to better understand what we bring to the table. Because when we hone in on and embrace our unique intangibles—those strong qualities that might even turn some people off—we create opportunities to lead more effectively, grow our business, and stand out in a noisy, boring world where everyone just wants to fit in. In this episode, we cover: No matter what they say, clients come back for more than just results Questions to ask a non-responsive client to encourage ownership—without assigning blame How to get feedback and gain insight into what sets you apart (hint: it's not your experience or certifications) Determine if there's a “psychological nutrient” you're providing—or withholding Bonus: An excerpt from Brett's Observed Absurdity file about department stores, including some hilarious, can't-miss euphemisms and analogies The Apprenticeship If you're tired of struggling through hard conversations or avoiding them altogether, this is your chance to train for them. We'll put you in realistic role-play scenarios and teach you the frameworks that help you navigate conflict, power dynamics, and tough personalities. No fluff. No gurus. Just pressure-tested strategies you can actually use—because the best coaching skills don't perish. Everyone has a coach in their life, and the ability to communicate clearly under pressure pays off in every area—not just work.

On this installment of the Gutowski Files we sit down with investigative reporter Stephen Gutowski of thereload.com and discuss two posts over at the Reload, one about the state of Texas apparently legalizing short barreled (or "sawed-off) shotguns on the state level despite them being listed on the NFA and why they would even do this and then the Supreme Court's recent denial of certiorari in two high-profile second amendment cases and what that might mean. Active Self Protection exists to help good, sane, sober, moral, prudent people in all walks of life to more effectively protect themselves and their loved ones from criminal violence. On the ASP Podcast you will hear the true stories of life or death self defense encounters from the men and women that lived them. If you are interested in the Second Amendment, self defense and defensive firearms use, martial arts or the use of less lethal tools used in the real world to defend life and family, you will find this show riveting. Join host and career federal agent Mike Willever as he talks to real life survivors and hear their stories in depth. You'll hear about these incidents and the self defenders from well before the encounter occurred on through the legal and emotional aftermath. Music: bensound.com Video Intro by Joe Russo
