Howard Behar barely graduated high school and spent just two years in community college. Yet, he became a key leader at Starbucks soon after joining the company. From the start, he saw that Starbucks was not just about coffee but about people. With no formal business degree or global experience, he relied on persistence and a deep belief in servant leadership to guide him. He rose to president of Starbucks International and helped transform the brand from a small regional chain into a global powerhouse while ensuring its people-first culture remained at its core.Howard Behar is a longtime advocate of values-driven leadership. His book, It's Not About the Coffee, explores the principles that helped build Starbucks into a people-first company. He is also a sought-after speaker and mentor, helping leaders develop cultures of trust, integrity, and purpose. In this episode, Dart and Howard discuss:- How Starbucks scaled while staying true to its values- Servant leadership in action- Why leaders must listen to employees at every level- Persistence over credentials in leadership- Hardest lessons from leading an international brand- Why Howard rejects the word "customers"- The business case for dignity and respect- What companies get wrong about inclusion- And other topics…Howard Behar is a leadership expert, former Starbucks president, and a champion of servant leadership. Serving as president of Starbucks North America and Starbucks International, he played a key role in expanding Starbucks beyond the U.S., leading its first global expansion into Japan and later into Europe and Asia. His leadership was rooted in a deep belief that business is about serving people first. He wrote It's Not About the Coffee to share his insights on leadership, culture, and values-driven business. After retiring, he has dedicated his time to mentoring, public speaking, and serving on nonprofit and corporate boards.Resources Mentioned:It's Not About the Coffee, by Howard Behar: https://www.amazon.com/Its-Not-About-Coffee-Starbucks/dp/1591842727The Magic Cup, by Howard Behar: https://www.amazon.com/Magic-Cup-Business-Parable-Putting/dp/1455538973Servant Leadership, by Robert Greenleaf: https://www.amazon.com/Servant-Leadership-Legitimate-Greatness-Anniversary/dp/0809105543Good to Great, by Jim Collins: https://www.amazon.com/Good-Great-Some-Companies-Others/dp/0066620996The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey: https://www.amazon.com/Habits-Highly-Effective-People-Powerful/dp/0743269519Built to Last by Jim Collins: https://www.amazon.com/Built-Last-Successful-Visionary-Essentials/dp/0060516402The Experience Economy by Joseph Pine and James GilmoreLeading Through by Kim Clark, Jonathan Clark, and Erin ClarkConnect with Howard:Phone: 206-972-7776Email: hb@howardbehar.comWork with Dart:Dart is the CEO and co-founder of the work design firm 11fold. Christians Face Persecution During Christmas, Trump Promises to End “Transgender Lunacy,” The Christmas Truce of World War I

It's Christmas, Wednesday, December 25th, A.D. 2024. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes written by Jonathan Clark and heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com.  Filling in for Adam McManus I'm Ean Leppin. Christians Face Persecution During Christmas Around the world, Christians face increased persecution during Christmas season. Armed men killed 14 Christians in Nigeria on Sunday. The believers had just celebrated a Christmas carol service at the Evangelical Church Winning All. In Vietnam, officials arrested Christian villagers over the weekend for getting ready to celebrate Christmas. Authorities had told Christians they would face arrest if they celebrated Christmas or attended non-sanctioned churches. And yesterday, officials in Nepal arrested a pastor just for giving gifts. Pastor Janmajya Bhattarai had given educational materials, clothes, and gifts to underprivileged children in the area. During this festive season, Hebrews 13:3 reminds us, “Remember the prisoners as if chained with them—those who are mistreated—since you yourselves are in the body also.” Honda and Nissan Consider Merging Japanese automakers Honda and Nissan announced Monday they are in talks to merge by 2026.  If completed, the merger would create the world's third largest car manufacturer by sales after Toyota and Volkswagen. Honda CEO Toshihiro Mibe said, “The rise of Chinese automakers and new players has changed the car industry quite a lot. We have to build up capabilities to fight with them by 2030, otherwise we'll be beaten.” Ohio School District to Settle with a Christian Teacher Over Unlawful Termination In the United States, an Ohio school district agreed to a $450,000 settlement with a Christian teacher last Wednesday. The Jackson Local School District forced Vivian Geraghty to resign a couple years ago. The teacher refused to use biologically incorrect pronouns for transgender students based on her Christian beliefs. Logan Spena with Alliance Defending Freedom responded to the favorable settlement for Geraghty. He said, “No school official can force a teacher to set her religious beliefs aside in order to keep her job. . . . The First Amendment prohibits that abuse of power, and Jackson Local School District officials have learned that comes at a steep cost.” Trump Promises to End "Transgender Lunacy" President-elect Donald Trump promised to end “transgender lunacy” on day one of his second term.  Listen to his comments from a speech he gave Sunday at Turning Point USA's America Fest conference. TRUMP: “With the stroke of my pen, on day one, we are going to stop the transgender lunacy.” [Crowd cheers] “And I will sign executive orders to end child sexual mutilation. Get transgender out of the military and out of our elementary schools and middle schools and high schools.” Trump also said he would keep men out of women's sports, stating, “It will be the official policy of the United States government that there are only two genders: male and female.” Most Popular Bible Verses During Christmas Lifeway Research released data from the Bible app YouVersion on the most popular Bible verses during Christmas. Popular verses include the narrative of Christ's birth post also verses from the Psalms and Old Testament prophecies. The most popular Bible verses during the Christmas season are Luke 2:11-14 and Matthew 1:21.  Matthew 1:21 says, “She will give birth to a son, and you are to name him Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” The Christmas Truce of World War I And finally, on this day in history, the Christmas Truce took place between the Germans and the Allies in World War I. On December 25, 1914, Captain Robert Hamilton, a lieutenant with the Royal Warwickshire Regiment, made this entry into his diary: “A day unique in the world's history. I met the [German] officer and we arranged a local armistice for 48 hours. As far as I can gather, this effort of ours extended itself throughout the whole line. Soldiers on both sides met [by the] hundreds and exchanged greetings and gifts.” It all started when the Germans heard the Allied troops singing Christmas Carols on the other side of the line. A German Lieutenant, Johannes Niemann, reported that “We started trading everything we had: tobacco, chocolate, schnapps, ribbons. At one point, a Scottish bloke came outside with a football. It was the start of a real football match, with caps as goals.” The temporary truce took place at Ploegsteert Wood on the Western Front, near Flanders. Leadership is fundamentally about doing what's right and leading through positive influence rather than coercion or authority. Welcome to episode #953 of Six Pixels of Separation - The ThinkersOne Podcast. Erin Clark is a managing director with Deloitte Consulting's Human Capital practice, where she specializes in helping clients improve performance, drive change, and create sustainable advantages through people. With a deep commitment to unlocking human potential within organizations, Erin has dedicated her career to transforming workplaces into environments where individuals and teams can thrive. In her new book, Leading Through - Activating The Soul, Heart, And Mind Of Leadership (co-authored with her father, former Harvard Business School dean Kim Clark, and her brother Jonathan Clark), Erin explores the dynamic shift needed in leadership for today's rapidly changing world. The book delves into the struggle between traditional leadership paradigms - rooted in control, hierarchy, and bureaucracy - and a new model that emphasizes empowerment, trust, and collaboration. During our conversation, Erin discusses how the pandemic and technological advancements like generative AI have accelerated the need for this leadership transformation. She emphasizes that while we're living in a digital, transparent, and complex era, many organizations are still clinging to outdated methods that stifle innovation and suppress human potential. Erin introduces the concept of "leading through," which focuses on activating the soul, heart, and mind of leadership to create a culture where people are motivated to solve tough problems and make meaningful contributions. We explore the importance of leaders embracing a more human-centric approach, one that not only cares for people but also consciously seeks to do good and make things better. Erin highlights that leadership is both deeply personal and systemic - it requires individual growth as well as organizational support to foster an environment where employees can excel. She also touches on the challenges of short-termism and the pressure to meet market expectations, which often hinder long-term development and human sustainability. Erin's insights shed light on the necessity of preserving humanity in the face of rapid technological change. She advocates for leveraging technology as a tool for value creation while ensuring that it doesn't overshadow the human element that is crucial for innovation and organizational success. Christians Targeted in Nigeria as Protests Rock the Country  Protests broke out in Nigeria last Thursday over a cost of living crisis, leaving dozens of people dead. Christians in the country have faced even more violence during the instability.  Islamic Fulani Extremists attacked multiple farms owned by Christians last week. The militants killed Christian farmers and destroyed crops.  One survivor told International Christian Concern, “Fulani wanted to kill me, but I thank God I was safe.”  Nigeria is ranked 6th on the Open Doors' World Watch List of nations where it is most difficult to be a Christian.  Nigerian Regional Church Body Leaves Compromised UMC A Nigerian bishop with the United Methodist Church (UMC) resigned last month over the denomination's support for sexually perverted lifestyles. Bishop John Wesley Yohanna led the Nigerian Episcopal Area. The entire regional body decided to leave the UMC and join the Global Methodist Movement, according to The Christian Post.  A letter from Yohanna said, “We want to make a statement that since the church has derailed from Biblical principle we cannot be in this church where … homosexuality can be celebrated.”  Psalm 1:1 says, “Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful.”  Arrest Made In An Assassination Plot in US As reported by Fox News A Pakistani man with ties to the Iranian government sought to carry out a political assassination in the United States, a case that was investigated weeks before a gunman tried to kill former President Trump at a Pennsylvania campaign rally.  Asif Merchant, 46, traveled to New York City and worked with a hit man to carry out the assassinations in late August or early September, federal prosecutors said  the plot was intended to target high-ranking U.S. officials, potentially including Trump.  ABC News Senior Investigative Correspondent Aaron Katersky gives more details concerning the case so far. KATERSKY: “His name is Asif Merchant, and he entered the United States, according to federal prosecutors in Brooklyn, in April.  And while he was here in the United States, he made phone calls, trying to hire hitmen to carry out his alleged scheme to assassinate government officials on U.S. soil.  The criminal complaint does not mention former president Donald Trump by name, but multiple sources, familiar with this case, say one of the intended targets was former president Trump.  The hitman that Asif Merchant contacted, ended up being confidential sources of the FBI, so there was never any real danger here, because it seems the Feds were onto this man from the start.  They followed him for several months, and arrested him July 12th, just before he was about to board a flight and leave the country.  The arrest, July 12th, you'll note, is one day before former president Trump's rally in Butler, PA, when there was an attempt on the former president's life.  Although, these two things are not believed to be connected.” Christian Tennis Star Wins Olympic Gold Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic won an Olympic gold medal in the men's singles final in Paris this week. Despite being one of the world's top tennis players, this is his first Olympic gold medal. With this victory, Djokovic accomplished what is known as the “Golden Slam.” That's when a tennis player has won each of the four Grand Slam tournaments (Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon, US Open) as well as an Olympic Gold medal.  After receiving his medal, Djokovic pointed upward and said “God is great” in Serbian. Kamala Harris Picks Running Mate In the U.S., the Democratic National Committee officially picked Vice President Kamala Harris on Monday as their nominee for the presidential election.  And yesterday, she announced her running mate—Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. The 60-year-old military veteran is known for pushing Democrat agendas in his state. Walz supports abortion up to birth, transgender surgeries, and socialism. He is a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America which supports sexually perverted lifestyles.  Georgia Town Pays $55k in Free Speech Case A city in Georgia reached a $55,000 settlement in a First Amendment case last month.  Authorities in the City of Alpharetta arrested Jeff Gray back in 2022 for holding a sign saying “God Bless the Homeless Vets” outside city hall. Gray challenged the city in court with the help of The Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression.  Thanks to the settlement, Alpharetta agreed to train officers on the First Amendment and to not punish people for peacefully demonstrating.  1 out of 10 Americans are Evangelical  A new study from Dr. George Barna documents the demise of Evangelicalism. The study defined Evangelicals as those who recognize their sinful life, rely on Jesus for salvation, and receive guidance from the Bible. Only 10% of U.S. adults are Evangelical. And only a third of those have a Biblical worldview.  Dr. Barna noted, “The data strongly suggests that evangelicals are more likely to be shaped by the culture around them than they are to influence or ‘evangelize' it.” Romans 12:2 says, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” U.K. Christian Settlement Becomes World Heritage Site And finally, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation added a Christian settlement in Northern Ireland to its list of world heritage sites.  German-speaking Protestants established the Gracehill Moravian Church settlement in 1759.  It received world heritage status after the U.S. led an effort to recognize Moravian Church settlements. Other settlements include  Herrnhut in Germany and Bethlehem in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania.  The Moravian Church draws its heritage from the 15th century Czech reformer John Hus. In the 1700s, the church saw a renewal under the patronage of Count Nicholas Ludwig von Zinzendorf who built the Herrnhut community. The community was known for sending pioneering Protestant missionaries throughout the world.  And that's The World View in 5 Minutes on this Wednesday, August 7th, in the year of our Lord 2024. China Sentences House Church Elder A Chinese court sentenced a house church elder to five years in prison last month. In 2022, officials accused Elder Zhang Chunlei of “inciting subversion of state power.”  He has been in detention since then. Such treatment is part of China's agenda to crackdown on churches that are not sanctioned by the government.  Mervyn Thomas with Christian Solidarity Worldwide said, “The charges against Elder Zhang Chunlei are completely unfounded. . . . We call for his immediate and unconditional release and for reparations to be made to Elder Zhang and his family for the years of injustice they have been subjected to already.”  British Christians are More Satisfied Belonging Forum surveyed 10,000 people in the U.K. The study found 72% of Christians said they were satisfied with their lives. Only 65% of people who identify as non-religious said the same. Kim Samuel with Belonging Forum said the study underscored the “vital role that faith communities continue to play in nurturing social bonds and providing a sense of belonging and purpose in the UK. . . . Christian hospitality and compassion shone through the data, particularly a sense of neighbourliness and inner contentment.” Northern Ireland Prosecutes Pro-lifer Last September, Northern Ireland banned praying and offering help to pregnant women outside abortion mills. The next month, authorities arrested Claire Brennan for praying near an abortion mill. She could be fined and even imprisoned for six months. The Christian Legal Centre is now supporting Brennan in her case. It's the first case of its kind in Northern Ireland. Brennan said, “I cannot go against my conscience and do nothing whilst innocent babies are aborted in this country. Praying is the most important thing I can do to help and I and everyone else must be free to do that.” Proverbs 17:15 says, “He who justifies the wicked and he who condemns the righteous are both alike an abomination to the LORD.” U.K. Cuts Interest Rates, U.S. Holds Rates Last month, the Bank of England cut interest rates for the first time in over four years. The key rate is now 5%, down from 5.25%. The central bank expects inflation to increase to 2.75% this year before returning to its target of 2% next year.  Meanwhile in the U.S., the Federal Reserve left interest rates unchanged. The central bank's benchmark overnight borrowing rate remains at 5.25%-5.5%, which is a 23-year high. The Fed noted inflation has eased  over the past year but is still elevated.  Trump and Harris Spar over Debate Former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris may not debate each other as they compete for the White House. Trump was set to debate President Joe Biden next month on ABC. But with Biden's withdrawal from the presidential race, Trump said he would instead debate Harris on Fox News or not at all. Harris said she would still appear on the ABC event.  Also, the latest polling from FiveThirtyEight found the race between Trump and Harris is a virtual tie.  20 States Challenge U.S. Treasury  Twenty Republican state attorneys general sent a letter to the U.S. Treasury Department last week. The department has come out against states with de-banking laws. Such laws prohibit banks from closing accounts over the owners religious or political views. The recent letter stated, “No consumer or business should be denied services based on political beliefs or religious views or because of some arbitrary social credit score derived from ideological agendas.” New Film Features the Life of Ronald Reagan At the end of the month a new movie will be released that covers the life and presidency of Ronald Reagan.  The movie titled simply Reagan has actor Dennis Quaid taking on the title role. He recently told NewMax his thoughts on Ronald Reagan and what he thinks of this movie. QUAID: “Playing Ronald Reagan is an honor, and it's probably my favorite movie now, of my entire career, and quite a feat to do.  It's six years ago that I said ‘yes' to the part, and four years since we finished shooting.  And it's finally coming out, and I think it's the right time for it to come out as well.” Dennis Quaid also told CBN News that Reagan was a man of faith and how much that resonated with him.  Dennis goes on to talk about his own faith journey. QUAID: “Over the last 30 years, it took me a while, because I was, for those that don't know my faith journey… But I grew up in the Baptist church, and I became disillusioned with, what I call, ‘Churchianity' in my teens, at a time.  And I got into Eastern philosophy, which led me into Buddhism.  And then I read the Q'uran.  I read the Bible, cover to cover… And, twenty years later, I came to a place, where I got to do all those things in the world - cocaine and drugs and stuff.  Got clean, and then went back to reading the Bible again, and what struck me were the red words of Jesus.  That was the thing that got me, and that led me to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.  And that relationship has continued to grow and mature and get deeper, and it's a continuing journey.  But, that's where I am.  That's what's really different about my faith, and what you can't find any other place is that relationship with Him. Reagan will be released in theaters on August 30th. Tennessee City Honors God And finally, a city in Tennessee passed a resolution honoring God last month. Mt. Juliet authorities supported their state's resolution calling for July to be a month of prayer and fasting.  The city's resolution stated, “We recognize that God, as the Creator and King of all Glory, has the authority to judge and to bless nations or states.”  Commissioner Ray Justice said, “I think prayer is something that is important every day, several times a day, and when you are living in as divisive of a world that we are living in, you should do it as often as possible.”  Psalm 33:12 says, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people whom he has chosen as his heritage!" Chinese Christian Reunites with Family A Christian activist from China finally reunited with his family in the US this week. 71-year-old Zhu Yufu had spent sixteen years in prison for defending freedom in China. After his release, he was diagnosed with advanced stomach cancer. The US approved his application for urgent medical treatment and to reunite with his family. Yufu issued a statement through ChinaAid: “Thanks to the Lord's grace and the efforts of all of you, I had the chance to be reunited with my family . . . I pray constantly, believing that the Lord's grace is sufficient and that it will not be Satan or the forces of evil that will dominate everything on earth.” In 2 Corinthians 12:9, the Apostle Paul wrote, “[The Lord] said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” Christian U.K. Teacher Banned for “Misgendering” Students Last week, a High Court judge in the U.K. ruled a Christian teacher should be banned from his profession for allegedly “misgendering” students. Joshua Sutcliffe did not use students' preferred pronouns based on his Christian beliefs. His decision did not break the law. However, the judge ruled Sutcliffe's religious beliefs did not justify his actions. Sutcliffe told GB News he plans to appeal and that this is an important case for the U.K SUTCLIFF: "This I believe is a really important case for our nation because obviously I have quite strong Christian convictions, but this is probably a more universal belief that we shouldn't be leading young people down this dangerous path, and that is what the principle argument in the court was." Another Court Blocks Biden Admin's LGBT Agenda Under the Biden administration, the US Department of Education has tried to extend civil rights protections to people living sexually perverted lifestyles. The new rule would protect so-called “sexual orientation” and “gender identity” in schools. Many states have sued the administration over the new rule. In the latest ruling, a US District Judge issued a preliminary injunction against the administration. It applies in Arkansas, Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota. The new rule is now blocked in 21 states. California's Attack on Abortion Pill Reversal Services A pregnancy center is fighting California's attacks on Abortion Pill Reversal (APR) services. California Democrat Attorney General Rob Bonta is trying to end APR services and silence pro-life groups. Culture of Life Family Services is now suing Bonta with the help of the Thomas More Society. Peter Breen with the legal group said, “With all of the crime and corruption in California, it is tragic . . . that AG Bonta . . . is using his vast resources to target pregnancy centers and strip women of . . . their right to continue with a pregnancy through the safe and effective Abortion Pill Reversal process.” Americans' Changing Beliefs on Moral Issues Gallup released their latest data on Americans' moral beliefs. Most people in the U.S. still say adultery, suicide, and polygamy are morally wrong. Most Americans now say birth control, in-vitro fertilization, and having a baby outside marriage is morally acceptable. However, Americans are more divided on issues like abortion, doctor-assisted suicide, and “changing one's gender.” Since the early 2000s, support for abortion is up 12 percent, support for divorce is up 19 percent, support for having a baby outside marriage is up 23 percent, and support for sexually perverted lifestyles is up 24 percent. Brazilian Athletes Praise God at the Olympics And finally, Brazilian athletes are winning medals and praising God at the Summer Olympics. 16-year-old Rayssa Leal won bronze in the women's street skateboarding final. Despite Olympic rules against religious demonstrations, she used sign language in front of the cameras to say, “Jesus is the way, the truth and the life,” quoting John 14:6. Meanwhile, Brazilian surfer Gabriel Medina beat an Olympic record after riding a perfect 16-foot wave. Knowing his accomplishment, he went airborne at the end of the wave. An iconic photo of the moment shows Medina floating midair with his finger pointed upward. The three-time world champion posted it and quoted Philippians 4:13 which says, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Close And that's The World View in 5 Minutes on this Thursday, August 1st, in the year of our Lord 2024. U.K. Upholds Ban on Puberty Blockers  A High Court judge in the U.K. upheld the country's emergency ban on puberty blockers for children on Monday. Mrs. Justice Lang based her decision on the Cass Review. The study found so-called “gender-affirming care” could actually be harmful for gender-confused children.  Lang ruled, “In my view, it was rational for the first defendant to decide that it was essential to adopt the emergency procedure to avoid serious danger to the health of children and young people who would otherwise be prescribed puberty blockers during that five- to six-month period.”  Trump Calls out Harris for Hostility to Christians In the U.S., former President Donald Trump called out Vice President Kamala Harris last Friday for targeting people of faith. Trump spoke at the Turning Point USA event and criticized Democrat's hostility toward Catholics in particular.  TRUMP: “As everyone here understands, the radical left ideology, Kamala supports is really militantly hostile toward Americans of faith.  And you saw that during the pandemic, where people couldn't get together.  Even when they want to get together with big spaces outside, they were ravaged.  As a senator, she viciously attacked highly qualified judicial nominees, simply because they were members of the Knights of Columbus, suggesting that their Catholic faith disqualified them from serving on the federal bench.” Trump also promised to cut funding for schools that push “critical race theory,  transgender insanity and other inappropriate racial, sexual, or political content onto the lives of our children.” Tech billionaire Elon Musk posted a clip of Trump's statement, commenting, “Save our kids!”  1 out of 7 Americans Would Consider Moving if their Presidential Candidate Loses A new survey from StorageUnits.com found 15% of Harris and Trump voters say they will move if their preferred candidate loses. Among Harris voters, 19% said they would consider moving to a different state if Trump wins the presidential election. The top states they would consider moving to are New Jersey, California, and New York. Among Trump voters, 12% said they would considering moving if Harris wins the election. Many would consider moving to states like Florida and Texas.  Fewer Protestants Inviting Others to Church Lifeway Research reports 60% of protestant churchgoers have invited someone to church with them in the past six months.  That includes 20% who made three or more invitations. The numbers are slightly down from 2017 when 62% of respondents had invited someone to church. And 25% had offered three or more invitations.  Lifeway found younger people, people who attend church more often, and evangelicals were among the most likely to invite others to church. Most Americans still Credit God for Mankind Gallup released their latest data on what Americans' believe about the origin of human life. A record 24% believe human beings have developed over millions of years from less advanced forms of life, but God had no part in this process. That's up from 9% in 1982.  Meanwhile, 34% believe human beings have developed over millions of years from less advanced forms of life, but God guided this process. That's slightly down from 38% in 1982. And 37% believe God created human beings pretty much in their present form at one time within the last 10,000 years or so. That's down from 44% in 1982.  Hebrews 11:3 says, “By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.” Anniversary of “In God We Trust” Motto And finally, this week is the anniversary of when the U.S. made “In God We Trust” its official motto. Congress passed legislation to make the phrase the motto on July 30, 1956. President Dwight Eisenhower signed the legislation the same day.  But that's not all President Eisenhower did to acknowledge God during his presidency.  As reported by PBS here is historian Kevin Kruse: KRUSE: “It's during Eisenhower's presidency, for instance, that the prayer breakfast became an annual event - an event at which clerics and politicians of all political stripes come together to pray for the nation.  We get the addition of ‘under God' to the pledge of allegiance for the first time, which had previously been secular, had no mention of God.  We get the adoption of a God we trust as the nation's first official motto in 1956.  It's added to paper currency for the first time in 1957.” The phrase “In God is our Trust” appeared in “Defence of Fort M'Henry,” a poem written by  Francis Scott Key in 1814. The poem would become the lyrics of the U.S. national anthem, better known as “The Star-Spangled Banner.” The poem's fourth verse says: “Praise the Power that hath made and preserv'd us a nation! Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just, And this be our motto— ‘In God is our Trust'.” And that's The World View in 5 Minutes on this Wednesday, July 31st, in the year of our Lord 2024. The mob broke into the house, vandalizing the property and beating the 15 Christians inside. The violence continued until police arrived who proceeded to delay filing a case. Pastor Rajesh Bhomi told Morning Star News, “We are enduring immense hatred from all corners . . . Yet I believe God chooses only a few for this great mission of facing persecution. I am thankful to the Lord that he has chosen me. Through this pain and trials too, I want to serve the Lord. I want to serve the Lord until my last breath.”  India is ranked 11th on the Open Doors' World Watch List of nations where it is most difficult to be a Christian.  Blasphemous Parody at the Olympics  Paris held the Opening Ceremony of the 2024 Summer Olympics last Friday. The event included drag queens doing a parody of Leonardo da Vinci's painting of the Last Supper.  Gavin Calver with the UK Evangelical  Alliance posted on X, “It really was appalling to see Christianity so openly mocked in the opening ceremony with the unbelievably crass portrayal of the Last Supper. Utterly insensitive, unnecessary & offensive.”  Galatians 6:7 says, “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.”  Biden Admin Sentences Pro-life Mother In the U.S., the Biden administration continues to put pro-lifers in prison. A court sentenced Bevelyn Beatty Williams to over three years in prison last week. This came after the 33-year-old mother was sharing the Gospel outside an abortion mill. She wrote on her fundraising page, “I was persecuted as a Christian standing for my beliefs when it comes to life. This is devastating news. Not only is this bond extensive for the accused crime, but [the judge] made it very clear in the courtroom that she was going to an make example out of me.”  Nebraska Supreme Court Upholds Pro-family Act Last Friday, the Supreme Court of Nebraska upheld a piece of legislation known as the “Let Them Grow Act.” The bill limits abortion to 12 weeks of pregnancy and bans sex-change procedures on children.  Nebraska's Republican Gov. Jim Pillen said he was “grateful for the court's thorough and well-reasoned opinion upholding these important protections for life and children in Nebraska.”  Americans Less Confident in the Church A recent Gallup survey found 32% of U.S. adults have confidence in the church or organized religion. Confidence in organized religion was over 60% through much of the 1970s and 80s. Confidence remained over 50% in the 90s. However, it has fallen drastically since 2000.  Americans have low confidence in many other institutions including higher education, the medical system, the U.S. Supreme Court, and banks. Americans have the most confidence in small business, the military, and the police.  U.S. Economic Growth Beat Expectations  The U.S. economy beat expectations during the second quarter of this year. Real gross domestic product grew 2.8% at an annual rate according to the Commerce Department. That's up from 1.4% during the first quarter and 2.5% during 2023. Business and consumer spending drove the growth.  Scientists Discover Red Dye Mentioned in the Bible And finally, researchers with the Israel Antiquities Authorities discovered an ancient textile fragment in a Judean desert cave back in 2016.  Researchers believe the fabric is 3,800 years old, and they recently published their findings on how it was produced. The study found the textile was dyed red using tiny insects known as kermes from oak trees. The scarlet-red color was rare and expensive in the ancient world.  Professor Zohar Amar of Bar-Ilan University tied the findings to the Bible, “In the Bible, the dye extracted from oak scale insects is referred to as 'scarlet worm'. 'Worm' was used as a general term for various insects and their developmental stages in ancient times, and a reference to the colour 'scarlet worm' appears twenty-five times in the Bible.”  Referencing the scarlet worm, God said in Isaiah 1:18, “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool.” And that's The World View in 5 Minutes on this Monday, July 29th, in the year of our Lord 2024. Christians in China Facing the Worst Persecution in Decades Bob Fu, the founder of China Aid, addressed the second International Religious Freedom Summit Asia in Tokyo this week. Fu said Christians in China are facing the worst persecution in decades. FU: “Between 100 to 130 million Chinese Christians are now currently experiencing the worst Christian persecution we have not seen since the cultural revolution in 40 years.” Fu said China has moved from trying to control Christianity to eradicating it. For example, the Chinese Communist Party forbids children from believing in Christianity. Officials encourage family members of Christians to report them. Authorities have also banned private Christian education and many foreign missionaries.  Fu goes on to say that part of eradicating Christianity involves criminalizing aspects of it. FU: “The recent trend shows the Communist party even tried to criminalize the most fundamental elements of Christian worship.  Pastors, one after another, had been arrested for simply putting up an offering box, are now being criminalized as business fraud.  So many pastors already got sentenced from three years, four years, seven years imprisonment for collecting the tithing and offerings.” Please pray for our persecuted brothers and sisters in Christ in China, ranked the 19th on the Open Doors' World Watch List of nations where it is most difficult to be a Christian.  Christians in Scotland feel Excluded A recent survey from Logos Scotland found most Christians in the country feel excluded from public life. Seventy-percent of respondents believe the Scottish government does not support them. A similar number said they are concerned about abuse leveled at Christian politicians. Most also said they have experienced discrimination for their faith.  Scotland's latest census data from 2022 found people who identify with no religion outnumbered those who do identify with a religion for the first time.  Netanyahu speaks to Congress As reported by NBC News.  Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday delivered an impassioned speech to Congress, taking on protesters inside the House chamber and thousands gathered outside the Capitol. It was his first address to U.S. lawmakers in nearly a decade and the first since Hamas' Oct. 7 terrorist attack on Israel killed 1,200 people and resulted in the taking of over 240 hostages to Gaza, where about 100 are still believed to be held captive. Netanyahu spoke about that day. NETANYAHU: “October 7th is a day that will forever live in infamy.  It was [a] Jewish holiday.  It began as a perfect day - not a cloud in the sky.  Thousands of young Israelis were celebrating at an outdoor music festival.  And suddenly, at 6:29am, 3000 Hamas terrorists stormed into Israel.  They butchered 1200 people from 41 countries, including 39 Americans.  Proportionately, compared to our population size, that's like 29 9/11s in one day.” Netanyahu also emphasized the importance of the US and Israel standing together. NETANYAHU: “This is not a clash of civilizations. It's a clash between barbarism and civilization; between those who glorify death and those who sanctify life.  America and Israel must stand together.” Vice President Harris Secures Democrat Delegates In the U.S., Vice President Kamala Harris has received enough support from Democrat delegates to become her party's nominee for president.  She has secured 3,180 delegates, well over the required 1,976. This comes after President Joe Biden dropped out of the race on Sunday and endorsed Harris. She went on to raise over $80 million for her campaign in the first 24 hours. The Democratic National Convention meets next month and plans to officially select their nominee by August 7. Trump Leads Harris in Polls Former President Donald Trump narrowly leads Vice President Kamala Harris in recent polls, according to Real Clear Politics. Trump led by three points in a CNN poll with an average lead of 1.7 points across recent polls. However, one poll from Reuters/Ipsos gave Harris a two-point lead. With many voters supporting Biden's decision to not run again, Harris is performing better against Trump than Biden did in the polls. Pro-abortion Work of Harris Speaking of Kamala Harris, the Vice President is an outspoken supporter of killing unborn babies. Emily Davis with Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America warned, “American women and babies lose if she's in office, because she will not stop. She knows whom she's beholden to financially. She is the preferred candidate of the abortion lobby.”  Harris is known for targeting pro-life voices. As California's attorney general, she prosecuted whistleblower David Daleiden in 2016. Daleiden had exposed Planned Parenthood's sale of body parts from aborted babies.  In an interview with Fox News Senator Marco Rubio of Florida said this concerning a potential presidency of Kamala Harris. RUBIO: “Kamala Harris is owned by the left.  She is a product of the left wing of the Democratic party, whether it's defunding ICE, getting rid of ICE, defunding the police.  Single payer health care- I know she's changed her positions when she became the vice presidential nominee.  But these are the things she fought for and stood for and voted for when she was a senator, and that's what she'll do when she's president.  She is a committed California left wing Democrat.  And she will be the most radically left president this country will ever have if she were elected.” Proverbs 29:2 says, “When the righteous increase, the people rejoice, but when the wicked rule, the people groan.” Happy Birthday John Newton! And finally, this week marks the birthday of John Newton. He was born on July 24, 1725 in London. Newton was a captain of slave ships in his early life. While at sea, a severe storm brought him to his spiritual senses, leading to his eventual conversion.  Newton went on to marry, become a pastor, and work to end the slave trade. Newton is probably best known for his hymns. Each week he would write a hymn to a familiar tune. Of his hundreds of hymns, he is especially remembered for “Amazing Grace,” “Glorious Things of Thee Are Spoken,” and “How Sweet the Name of Jesus Sounds!” Newton wrote his own epitaph for his tombstone which says, “JOHN NEWTON. Clerk. Once an infidel and libertine, a servant of slaves in Africa was by the rich mercy of our LORD and SAVIOUR JESUS CHRIST preserved, restored, pardoned and appointed to preach the faith he had long laboured to destroy. Near 16 years as Curate of this parish and 28 years as Rector of St. Mary Woolnoth.” Ephesians 2:8 says, “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God.”  And that's The World View in 5 Minutes on this Thursday, July 25th, in the year of our Lord 2024. It's Wednesday, July 24th, A.D. 2024. This is The World View in 5 Minutes written by Jonathan Clark and heard at www.TheWorldView.com.  Filling in for Adam McMannus I'm Ean Leppin. Persecution of Christians in Communist Countries  International Christian Concern (ICC) reports that 72 Christians are imprisoned or missing in communist countries. Fifty-two of those Christians are imprisoned in China, Cuba, North Korea, and Vietnam. The remaining 20 are missing across those nations. An ICC staffer in Asia said, “These numbers are daunting yet unsurprising. Communism is just as dangerous and destructive to Christians today as it was in previous generations.”  In one case, Chinese authorities arrested a Korean Christian for studying the Bible. Chung Yong Cheol faced deportation to North Korea and then a 10-year sentence in a political prison camp.  French Bible Society to Distribute 200,000 Bibles at Olympics The French Bible Society plans to distribute 200,000 New Testaments during the upcoming Summer Olympics in Paris. The special edition will include testimonies from Christian athletes and is being called “More Precious than Gold.”  The title is drawn from 1 Peter 1:7 which says, “Their purpose is to prove that your faith is genuine. Even gold, which can be destroyed, is tested by fire; and so your faith, which is much more precious than gold, must also be tested, so that it may endure. Then you will receive praise and glory and honor on the Day when Jesus Christ is revealed.”  Subway denies service to Christian for Biblical shirt In the U.S., an outspoken Christian street preacher was denied service at a Subway restaurant in Waunakee, Wisconsin because he was wearing a T-shirt that declared homosexuality a sin and referenced Romans 1, reports The Christian Post. Rich Penkoski, who leads the online ministry Warriors for Christ, said he is considering a lawsuit against Subway after he was recently refused service at one of their locations in Waunakee, Wisconsin. According to the video of the incident that has since racked up millions of views on X, an employee admitted that she was refusing to serve Penkoski for reasons she described as "a personal matter.” Here is audio from a portion of that video… Penkoski, who was traveling with other pastors after preaching outside the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, said he believes the incident at the Subway location shows there is a double standard when it comes to denying service to people who oppose LGBT ideology. Subway's corporate office did not respond to CP's request for comment by time of publication. Send a letter of complaint to Subway's President, John Chidsey, to 1 Corporate Dr, Shelton, CT 06484. You can also email corporate through a link in the transcript of this newcast found at TheWorldView.com Jesus said in John 15:19, “If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.” U.S. Secret Service Director Resigns  U.S. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle resigned yesterday. She faced sharp criticism on Monday from Congress after the recent assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump. Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson told reporters, “It is overdue, she should have done this at least a week ago. I'm happy to see that she has heeded the call of both Republicans and Democrats.”  Pat Fallon, a republican that served on the House Committee said this in an interview the Fox News. Pat Fallon: “I'm glad she's resigning.  I'm glad she will no longer be the head of the Secret Service.  I wish she had been fired, because we need to change the culture of that organization.  This was a catastrophic failure to protect the former President and quite frankly also the leading candidate to be the next President” Meanwhile, Trump blamed the Biden administration for the security failure. He wrote on Truth Social, “The Biden/Harris Administration did not properly protect me, and I was forced to take a bullet for Democracy. IT WAS MY GREAT HONOR TO DO SO!”  Chick-Fil-A Dethroned as America's Favorite Fast Food Chain For nearly a decade, Chick-Fil-A has been America's favorite fast food restaurant. However, the chain fell to third place this year on USA Today's ranking of fast food restaurants based on votes from readers.  The top stop now goes to Del Taco followed in second place by KFC. Del Taco has only 600 locations across 16 states.  Despite this, Chick-Fil-A made $21 billion in sales last year, up 14% from the year before.  Iowa's Abortion Ban goes into Effect And finally, Iowa's six-week abortion ban will go into effect next Monday. A district court made the ruling yesterday. This came after the state's Supreme Court said in June that there is no constitutional right to abortion.  Previously killing unborn babies was legal up to 20 weeks of pregnancy. The new law bans the killing of unborn babies with detectable heartbeats but with some exceptions. Iowa joins over a dozen states to restrict abortion since the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022. And that's The World View in 5 Minutes on this Wednesday, July 24, in the year of our Lord 2024. Subscribe by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldView.com. What cross are you on? Jonathan Clark continued our Paradise series last night, where we look at the two men who were crucified and the left and right of Jesus while Jesus was on the cross. The man on Jesus's left mocked Him alongside the crowd, but the man on the right saw that something was different about Jesus, so he asked, "Will you remember me?". Jesus responded, "Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise." (Luke 23:39-43) Are you on the cross of revolving sin and anguish? Where you try to solve your problems on your own, but you can't seem to change? Or are you on the cross of salvation, where you recognize your need of a Savior? Jesus IS that Savior. We can trust Him with our lives that His life and His works are what saves us and gets us into heaven. You can be on the cross of salvation today! You may think it's too late, or you're too far gone to be saved, but NO ONE is too far gone that can be redeemed by the blood of Jesus! http://bible.com/events/49286496 Paradigm is a weekly gathering of Kansas City college and 20s-30s young adults who desire to see Jesus made known throughout the city! Paradise: 5 Truths About Heaven That Will Change Your Life

What is heaven like? Are there pearly gates? What do we do in heaven? We've all asked these questions before and have had our own ideas about what heaven is like, but what is it REALLY like? Last night, Jonathan Clark kicked off our new series, "Paradise," to jump head-first into the book of Revelation to see what it has to say about what heaven is like. Here's 5 truths about heaven that will change your life: 1. Heaven is physically new (Rev 21:1) Heaven is a physical place, not clouds in the sky. 2. Heaven is prepared (Rev 21:2) God knows all of us better than we know ourselves, and the Lord has prepared heaven, especially for YOU. 3. Heaven is the place of God's presence (Rev 21:3) Heaven will NOT be boring. We will be in the very PRESENCE of God. 4. Heaven is a place of healing (Rev 21:4) In heaven, there's no heartache, no pain, no disease, no sin. God will be there to wipe the tears from our eyes because He loves us. 5. Heaven is our home (Rev 21:5-7) Heaven is not just God's home, it's OURS as well. We can not enter into heaven through our own works due to the corruption of sin (Ephesians 2:8-9), but luckily we don't have to. The life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ allows us to enter heaven! Believing in Christ's works and confessing that He is Lord is what gets us to heaven (Romans 10:9)! If you do not know where you will go when you die, today can be the day when you are finally sure by confessing Jesus Christ as Lord! See y'all next week at Paradigm! http://bible.com/events/49283435 Paradigm is a weekly gathering of Kansas City college and 20s-30s young adults who desire to see Jesus made known throughout the city! It's Monday, July 1st, A.D. 2024. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Ugandan Muslims murdered Ugandan evangelist An evangelist who had received death threats from Muslim extremists was murdered after leading Muslims to Christ in eastern Uganda, reports Morning Star News. The body of 36-year-old evangelist Richard Malinga was found in the evening at Kayete Swamp in the Butebo District after he had texted his pastor that he was surrounded by Muslims. A local resident found the victim dead, in a pool of blood, and tied with ropes. Please pray that God would unmistakenly reveal Himself to these Muslim murderers, that they would repent, and profess Jesus Christ as their Savior. Biden v. Trump: Differing visions on the economy During last Thursday night's presidential debate, President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump laid out starkly different visions. BIDEN: “His economy, he rewarded the wealthy. He had the largest tax cut in American history -- $2 trillion. You raised the deficit larger than any President has in any one term. He's the only president of the Herbert Hoover who's lost more jobs than he had when he began, since Herbert Hoover.” TRUMP: “The only thing he was right about is I gave you the largest tax cut in history. That's why we had all the jobs and the jobs went down and then they bounced back. “He's taking credit for bounced back jobs. You can't do that. He also said he inherited 9% inflation. No, he inherited almost no inflation and it stayed that way for 14 months. And then it blew up under his leadership because they spent money like a bunch of people that didn't know what they were doing. And they don't know what they were doing. It was the worst, probably the worst administration in history.” Biden falsely claimed he has better control of border than Trump Jake Tapper asked President Biden about the open border which he sanctioned. TAPPER: “President Biden, a record number of migrants have illegally crossed the southern border on your watch, overwhelming border states and overburdening cities such as New York and Chicago, and in some cases, causing real safety and security concerns. Given that, why should voters trust you to solve this crisis?” BIDEN: “Because we worked very hard to get a bipartisan agreement that not only changed all of that, but made sure that we are in a situation where you had no circumstance where they could come across the border with the number of border police that there are now. We significantly increased the number of asylum officers. “What I've done, since I've changed the law, what's happened? I've changed it in a way that now they're 40% fewer people coming across the border illegally. It's better than when he left office. And I'm going to continue to move until we get the total ban on the total initiative, relative to what we can do with more Border Patrol and more asylum officers.” TAPPER: “President Trump?” TRUMP: “I really don't know what he said at the end of that sentence. I don't think he knows what he said, either. “Look, we had the safest border in the history of our country. All he had to do was leave it. He decided to open up our border, open up our country to people that are from prisons, people that are from mental institutions, insane asylum, terrorists. We have the largest number of terrorists coming into our country right now, all terrorists, all over the world, not just in South America, all over the world they come from the Middle East, everywhere. “He didn't need legislation because I didn't have legislation. I said, ‘Close the border.' We had the safest border in history. In that final couple of months of my presidency, we had the safest border in history. Now, we have the worst border in history.” Are Trump supporters a threat to American democracy? Tapper asked Biden to defend one of his wild campaign claims. JAKE TAPPER: “President Biden, you have said, ‘Donald Trump and his [“Make America Great Again”] Republicans are determined to destroy American democracy. Do you believe that the tens of millions of Americans who are likely to vote for President Trump will be voting against American democracy?” BIDEN: “More they know about what he's done, yes. The more they know about what he's done.” Biden's committed to veto any national abortion ban On the abortion question, Biden committed to veto any national abortion ban if the Republicans gain a majority in the Senate and he is re-elected. BIDEN: “What he going to do, if in fact the [“Make America Great Again” Republicans and he gets elected, and the MAGA Republicans control the Congress, and they pass a universal ban on abortion period across the board at six weeks or seven or eight or 10 weeks, something very, very conservative? Is he gonna sign that bill? I'll veto it. He'll sign it.” CNN Poll: Trump trounced Biden in debate Registered voters who watched CNN's presidential debate between Joe Biden and Donald Trump largely think Trump outperformed Biden, according to a CNN poll of debate watchers conducted by Social Science Research Solutions. In the poll, 67% thought Trump was the better debater.  And, oddly enough, 33% thought Biden won the debate, reports CNN. Most said they have no real confidence in Biden's ability to lead the country. Kelly Ann Conway: Biden “can't do the job” Appearing on Fox News Channel's Special Report with Brett Baier, former Trump advisor Kellyanne Conway was blunt in her analysis of Biden's debate performance. CONWAY: “Joe Biden asked for this debate. He basically begged for this debate to save his presidency. And he's now harmed it even more. “The serious point is the one that people take away from this, which is this: This is a man who can't do the job. What's wrong with that? By the way, can't we admit that everybody has a relative who's in a situation like this? I hope Joe Biden lives another 20 years. I just think it should be spent in Delaware ASAP. “You [Brett Baier] and Peter Doocy just said the two magic words as to why it's not easy to remove Joe Biden and hasn't been easy for the 18 months they should have done it: Kamala Harris, people fear her. The fact that you even mentioned [California Governor] Gavin Newsom and [Michigan Governor] Gretchen Whitmer. How are we not mentioning the black woman Vice President? It's because she shed 20 senior staffers, because nobody has confidence in her competence. They are scared about her being the president. And I think that's a very important point here.” Justice of peace cannot be forced to officiate “gay” faux weddings On Friday, the Supreme Court of Texas ruled in favor of Dianne Hensley, a justice of the peace in Waco, who had been reprimanded for not performing homosexual faux weddings, reports The Christian Post. The court also reinstated her lawsuit against the State Commission on Judicial Conduct. The commission had previously issued a public warning for her refusal to officiate faux homosexual weddings, citing a violation of judicial impartiality based on perverted sexual preference. Oklahoma requires a Bible in every classroom Oklahoma officials announced Thursday the state is requiring a copy of the Bible to be in every public school classroom, beginning immediately, reports The Oklahoman. In a press conference, Ryan Walters, Superintendent of Oklahoma Public Schools, explained that the Bible was essentially foundational to America. WALTERS: “The Bible is a necessary historical document to teach our kids about the history of this country, to have a complete understanding of Western civilization, to have an understanding of the basis of our legal system, and is frankly, we're talking about the Bible, one of the most foundational documents used for the Constitution and the birth of our country. “It is essential that our kids have an understanding of the Bible and its historical context.” Proverbs 30:5 says, “Every word of God is flawless; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him.” 32 Worldview listeners donated $6,837 And finally, toward our $84,000 final goal in our month-long fundraiser, 32 Worldview listeners stepped up to the plate on Friday and Saturday to help fund our 6-member team for another fiscal year. Psalm 118:24 says, “This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it." Why Kentucky listeners gave $2,500 to The Worldview And finally, on Saturday night, I called Alexis in Crittendon, Kentucky. She and her husband David made a $2,500 donation to The Worldview. She explained what she appreciates about the newscast. ALEXIS: “I like that it's from a Christian standpoint and that I can get the news without having to get all the junk with it in this day and age. I've been listening to it since I was 16. I just really appreciate you guys and all that you do with it.” She recalled one story that stood out. ALEXIS: “We live in Kentucky and there was that truck driver that went over the bridge that I heard about, but didn't really know the full story. But then you guys covered the full story. I really appreciated that and thought it was really neat that she was a Christian and that she was praying and everything during the whole circumstance and just how much of a miracle it was that they rescued her.” Here's a soundbite from that truck driver whose truck got into an accident on the bridge which sent it careening through the railing, and then was dangling above the Ohio River. TRUCK DRIVER: “If I start freaking out and screaming and moving around, the truck might fall into the river. I was praying. I was crying. And I was trying to just stay calm and just hope and pray that they would be able to get me out because I didn't think they will be able to.” When I told Alexis that the donation which her husband, David, and she had made, enabled us to meet and surpass our $84,000 fundraising goal, she said this. It's Thursday, June 27th, A.D. 2024. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark Nicaragua has shut down 250 Protestant groups Roman Catholic Churches have faced persecution in Nicaragua under the regime of Daniel Ortega. The dictator is increasingly targeting Protestant churches as well.  The central American country shut down over 250 Protestant groups in recent years. Earlier this year, authorities imprisoned 11 Evangelical pastors associated with Mountain Gateway, a ministry that drew thousands to its Christ-centered events. Nicaragua is ranked 30th on the Open Doors' World Watch List of nations where it is most difficult to be a Christian.   Israeli Jews are asking for New Testaments Jews for Jesus reports more people of the Jewish faith are seeking New Testaments. The nonprofit offers the New Testament to Israelis for free. The group sent over 1,200 New Testaments to Israelis since the Muslim terrorist group Hamas attacked Israel on October 7th, 2023. Aaron Abramson, the Executive Director of Jews for Jesus, told The Christian Post that the terrorist attack has prompted many Israelis to have spiritual questions. He said, “Israel has prided itself in its ability to defend itself, so [the Hamas attack] was a real blow to that for people. … If you can't put your trust in … a military solution … then where do you put your trust? … And I think that's why a lot of people were starting to sort of dig into those spiritual questions.”  In Romans 1:16, the Apostle Paul wrote, “For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Gentile.” Supreme Court okay with Biden's censorship of Facebook The U.S. Supreme Court ruled 6-3 in favor of the Biden administration yesterday in a social media case. Multiple states and social media users accused the government of pressuring media companies, like Facebook, to censor content about COVID-19 and the 2020 presidential election. Justices Samuel Alito, Clarence Thomas, and Neil Gorsuch ruled against the Biden administration. In the dissenting opinion, Justice Alito warned, “If a coercive campaign is carried out with enough sophistication, it may get by. That is not a message this Court should send.” Vermont's crisis pregnancy centers allowed to speak the truth A federal court in Vermont is allowing pro-life pregnancy centers to continue their lawsuit against the state. The centers are challenging a state law that censors their free speech. The law only applies to pregnancy centers, which could face fines of up $10,000 if the state's attorney general believes their advertisements are misleading.  Julia Payne with Alliance Defending Freedom said, “Pregnancy centers should be free to serve women and offer the support they need without fear of unjust government punishment. As our case continues, we will urge the court to support the rights of pregnancy centers that provide these critical care services.”  70% of Americans approve of homosexual faux marriage A new survey from Gallup found nearly 70% of Americans believe that faux homosexual marriage should be legal. And 64% believe that sexually perverted lifestyles are morally acceptable.  However, support for these issues is plateauing and even declining slightly. This is driven by a drop in support for such lifestyles by Republicans. Forty-six percent of Republicans support such lifestyles now, down from 55% in 2021. The drop in support comes as Democrats have supported sexually perverted lifestyles for children through the schools and medical industry. Low home inventory and high interest rates drives prices higher The National Association of Realtors reports the sale of previously owned homes is down 2.8% in May, compared to last year. Existing home sales are now at a 30-year low. With low inventory and high interest rates, home prices continue to climb. The median home price in May was a record $419,300. That's up 5.8% compared to last year.  If you can forgive, you'll be happier The American Bible Society released their latest data from the “State of the Bible USA 2024 Report.” The report found that people who say they are willing to forgive others were more likely to score higher in Human Flourishing which involves happiness, health, purpose, character, and relationships. The report also noted that young people who engage with Scripture score higher in Human Flourishing. Dr. John Blake, editor-in-chief of the State of the Bible series, said, “Not only do [Gen Zers] score higher on the Human Flourishing scale than other young adults who don't read the Bible — but they have the highest score of any generation.” In Proverbs 8:35, Wisdom says, “For whoever finds me finds life, and obtains favor from the LORD.” Why Virginia Worldview listener gave $200 Ginger and her husband Michael in Jonesville, Virginia gave $200 yesterday to help fund the 6-member newscast team for another fiscal year. I called her last night and asked her what she liked about The Worldview in 5 Minutes. GINGER: “I like the very clear, Christian worldview that's presented, the fact that it's just straight news, straight facts, but then you also, by the addition of Scripture and a little analysis, show how Christians should think about these things.” She was encouraged to hear one uplifting story about Tennessee. GINGER: “I really appreciated you presenting the story about the Tennessee governor and his recent signing of the call for fasting and praying for the state of Tennessee. We live near there, but actually go to church in Tennessee. So we know, have a lot of friends and it's been very exciting to ask them. ‘Did they realize that? Do they know that?' I just thought that was fantastic that you presented it because you may be the only news source that shares that.” Ginger also liked the recent human interest story I highlighted about the Katy, Texas couple who discovered a newborn baby girl on the ground who had been abandoned. GINGER: “The story about the couple that found the baby was heartbreaking in one sense, but tremendously hopeful. Life was valued and life was saved in a culture that worships death. I so appreciated that being reported as well.” Ginger urges other Worldview listeners to make a donation today to help us reach our $84,000 goal. GINGER: “If you appreciate the objective news and the Christian worldview then definitely it needs to be supported. It's such a rarity. Now, my one thing would be don't wait to the last minute like I did.” McMANUS: (laughs) “Well, it is the last minute. That's okay, as long as people get in, before the wire.” GINGER: “It is definitely a worthy cause to support Adam. I don't even realize how much work is put into the research and the gathering. There's so much out there. It's so refreshing to have a new source and a news broadcast that I can listen to. I can quickly get the gist of the news that day, but from the Christian worldview that I share. It's refreshing!” 23 Worldview listeners donated $3,105.37 And finally, toward our $84,000 final goal by 5:00pm central this Saturday, June 29th, 23 Worldview listeners stepped up to the plate to help fund our 6-member team for another fiscal year. We appreciate Augustine in Auburn, California who gave $30, Samuel in Niceville, Florida who gave $37.37, Jeremy and Kristin in Cleveland, Tennessee who gave $40 as well as Colleen in Melbourne, Florida and Joshua in Hortense, Georgia – both of whom gave $50. We're grateful to God for Eli in San Diego, California who gave $58, as well as Eben in Kansas City, Missouri, Kirsten in Drake, Colorado, Corrie in Crawfordsville, Indiana, Amy in Snohomish, Washington, Leslie in Middletown, Delaware, Cory in Morrison, Colorado, and Tamar in Poplar Bluff, Missouri – each of whom gave $100. And we're thankful for the sacrifice of Don in Rogers, Minnesota who pledged $15/month for 12 months for a gift of $180, Michael and Ginger in Jonesville, Virginia, Stephen in Morgantown, West Virginia, and Rick and Barb in Arlington, Washington – each of whom gave $200, Duane in Moriarty, New Mexico who gave $300, and Michael and Jacci in Valley Center, California who pledged $80/month for 12 months for a gift of $960. Those 23 donors gave $3,105.37.  Ready for our new grand total? Drum roll please. (sound effect of drum roll) $64,160.53 (audience cheering) We still need to raise $19,839.47 by 5:00pm Saturday, June 29th In order to hit our $84,000 goal, we still need to raise $19,839.47 in just 48 hours.  I had hoped that 40 people would be inspired to make a donation yesterday, but only 23 did so.  At this point, on this Thursday, we need 60 people to make either a one-time donation or a monthly pledge. I wonder if you might be one of four people to give a one-time gift of $2,000.  There might even be someone who would invest $5,000 in this Christ-centered work. Could you be one of 6 Worldview listeners to pledge $100 per month for 12 months, 4 people to pledge $50 per month for 12 months, and 8 people to pledge $25/month for 12 months? Time is ticking. (sound effect of ticking clock)  We need your help by 5:00pm central on Saturday, June 29th. Your support enables our 6-member newscast team to thrive. We have  three writers – Kevin Swanson, Jonathan Clark, and myself, the researcher, Emily Munday, and the uploaders of the audio on multiple platforms – Rebekah Swanson and Kayla White. Were you touched by what Ginger in Jonesville, Virginia said today about what makes this newscast special?  Did you hear what 10-year-old Lukas in Olympia, Washington said yesterday about why he gave $10 of his own money? I need you to step up to the plate. Please, go to TheWorldview.com, click on “Give,” select the dollar amount you'd like to donate, and click on the recurring monthly tab if that's your wish. Do you ever feel that maybe God has called you to do something more than what you're doing? Jonathan Clark clearly heard God tell him that he was made to do something more and that revelation drastically changed his life. As the new young adult pastor at Abundant Life's young adult ministry, Paradigm, he is passionate about seeing the next generation know God and make Him known. Jonathan talks about meeting Pastor Chad, being offered the position with the Paradigm staff, and the difficulties of moving his family away from everything familiar to pursue God's calling in his life. Jonathan and Les also talk about their shared desire to provide for their families, actively pour into their kids, and demonstrate obedience to what God asks them to do. Jonathan reminds listeners that God is, has been, and always will be faithful to His people. You can trust Him with your future but must demonstrate your trust through obedience.

Can we do our own heart surgery? (Yes, you read that title correctly.) We're not talking about opening up your chest and repairing torn ventricles with your spouse holding your makeup mirror so you can see what you're doing. We're referring to addressing the spiritual issues that cause physical problems that can plague us for years, even to our death."A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones." Proverbs 17:22My guest today, Dr. Jonathan Clark, took some time out of his busy Telehealth practice to share some wisdom on the heart. Not the thumping gizzard located on the left side of your chest, but our demeanor, attitude, mindset that unless properly cared for can cause real damage to our physical bodies.Take care of the inner heart, says Dr. Clark, and you can better take care of your physical heart. Here's a bit of what you'll hear in today's episode:-Dr. Clark's personal history and coming to spiritual understanding...05:00-Overcoming physical problems by addressing spiritual issues...08:00-Sometimes it's a decision to be free...13:16-What we mean when we say "do your own heart surgery"...16:55-Releasing unhealthy emotions is akin to releasing unhealthy weight, dis-ease, etc...21:40-Jonathan's recent experience with intermittent fasting...27:30-And much more!Resources mentioned:Holy and Holistic Healthjonathanclarkmd.comConnect with today's guest!University of Missouri-Columbia Medical School graduate Dr. Jonathan Clark has a passion for the fascinating mystery that are human beings. “As both a board-certified family medicine doctor and an ordained minister, I have witnessed great advances in medical science as well as many miracle healings over the past 30 years. I have seen firsthand incredible medical achievements and supernatural miracles—natural and supernatural solutions. I am so blessed to have the opportunity to have multiple vantage points of healing and health.” It was this blending of observations that led Dr. Clark to research and write his book, Holy and Wholistic Health! His approachable writing style mixed with humor and ‘tidbits' of fascinating information make this book an easy to understand and practical collection of insights. “I love to care for people with all the tools in my tool belt.” Dr. Clark says, “And as a diligent student of the Bible, science, and medicine, I have a natural curiosity of human nature. This is the reason I wrote this book—to share some pearls and tidbits of things I have learned in this process of living and learning.” Twice one of 417 Magazine's Top Doctors of the year, (2015, 2019), Dr. Clark has run his own family practice, Olive Grove Medical (formerly Clark Family Medicine) in Springfield, Missouri, since 1995, and has recently added being a Telehealth provider to his list of services. Church and family play a huge role in his life and he credits them for his inspiration to write and encourage others. “As I reflect back on my life... I was raised in a religious, Christian household and was a church-going, good boy with a good quality of life (and was in good physical health); however, in the process of time, I turned away from my religious training and my Christian faith.I did not turn to another belief system. Rather, in trying to cope with my inner struggles and inner pain, I deconstructed into a different path, hoping that maybe then I could breathe internally and possibly find a healthier reality.” It was this return to his roots and in finding a genuine faith that his health was...
