Welcome back to the Goblin Lore Podcast. This is our final episode for #MentalHealthAwareness Month! Hobbes and Alex decided to tackle a heavy topic with Stigma and what better way to do this than to revisit one of our favorite Goblins (Slobad). This episode looks at Slobad and Glissa's stories from a new lens than what we did way back in Episode 19! Stigma is a set of beliefs that are held about a particular group (or can be internalized to the point that people believe them about themselves). It is one of the biggest barriers for seeking care. So join us as we finish out the Month of May. ____________________________________________ Also May is Mental Health Awareness Month. All month we will be focusing on this and additionally want to provide resources for anyone who needs to reach out and talk to someone or to learn more about Mental Health in general. For general Mental Health the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) has great resources for people struggling with mental health concerns as well as their families. We also want to draw attention this week to this article from NAMI's site. If you’re thinking about suicide or just need someone to talk to right now, you can get support from any of the resources below. Welcome back to the Goblin Lore Podcast. Today we have a solo episode with HobbesQ discussing Mental Health Recovery and Asking for Help. We had originally planned to discuss Stigma this week but that topic ended up being bigger than our prep time and also fitting for the end of #MentalHealthAwareness Month! Hobbes also tried out his fancy new microphone sound booth and realized that it works... almost too well... his very inhalations could be heard. He apologizes and we have decided not to eat him... ____________________________________________ Also May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Our guest this week is hilarious and multi-talented comedian Teresa Lee. Teresa has written for Cracked, Reductress and more. She can be seen on NBC Asian America and Take My Wife. Teresa describes the intersection of trauma and romance that comes with living in New York City. We discuss mental health stigma, how to deal with grief and loss, finding comfort in comedy, and navigating sobriety on our own terms. Also May’s perfect dog is in studio to remind us how therapeutic having a pup can be! As always please hit us up on Instagram @crazyinbedpod or crazyinbedpodcast@gmail.com
Jordan Temple is a hilarious stand-up comedian and genius writer for The Rundown with Robin Thede. He's with us this week to break down hyper masculinity, imposter syndrome and the joy of sensory deprivation tanks. Jordan drops a lot of wisdom about grief and anger, and tells us an insane story about the time he made himself sick (literally) from comedy. Also May points out the universal truth that "all moms deserve to vape"! If you enjoy the podcast, give us a rating and review wherever you listen! And as always, hit us up at crazyinbedpodcast@gmail.com or @crazyinbedpod on Instagram.
We’ve arrived at the station for the end of Tamers and May can’t stop making train puns or dropping hints about Digimon Frontier. Tonight; the Chinese pass law that bans women from live streaming themselves eating bananas provocatively. What? The Saudi's secret support of Netanyahu's re-election. Also May 9th, 1960: a day that changed history and much more! Always an interesting perspective on everyday issues.
It's that time of year, the time we've been waiting for for months. Yep, that's right, it's finally Christmas! (Also: Star Wars opening!) As you settle down to watch your favorite Christmas movie (also: space opera), one thing you'll notice right away--the setting. You know, the lights and carols and snow and roast beast. (Also: the cool spaceships and laser-swords and aliens and mysterious masked villains.) This episode Tim and Nick examine the various ways setting affects story, both consciously and unconsciously. They follow up with a lightning round review of recent movies and TV shows, and finally end with some observations on how a certain science-fiction pop culture touchstone has infected everything in the entire world. Except our podcast, obviously. Merry Christmas! (Also: May the Force be with you!) Show Notes
