Recidivism rates in the U.S. are some of the highest in the world, and in Wyoming, 33 percent of inmates are back in prison within the first year. But studies show that animal therapy can help reduce that by teaching things like responsibility, nonviolence and empathy. Most programs pair inmates with dogs. But Wyoming has a special program – one of only five in the country – that teaches inmates how to tame wild horses.

[26:21] How does Alta Robbins ensure the reliability and durability of its valves in both high-vacuum and high-pressure environments? What is the 4-to-1 safety factor? [29:25] One of the qualities that I adamire is that Alta Robbins Valves are simple to service. When is it recommended to replace individual parts of a valve versus replacing the entire unit to maintain optimal performance? [34:51] Troubleshooting or explaination for the feeling like having to make more turns on the valve before seeing the metering of gas. [37:58] Greg elaborates on a built in safety feature that better explains why it takes more that one turn before opening the valve. [41:41] There's an arrow on the outside of the valve, and the question that you have been asked before was like, does it matter the direction of that valve in its use? [45:40] Soft Goods Kit vs Bonnet Assembly, when do you replace parts and when to buy a new valve? [49:50] What is Alta Robbins thoughts on partnering with Taming Lightning? [52:13] A fun fact from Greg Wilson and his thoughts on and service to neon.

The No BS Kettlebell and Bodyweight Kickstart Program by Aleks Salkin https://amzn.to/3FMJdLd Alekssalkin.com Cut Through the Endless Sea of Training BS Get Strong, Resilient, and Fit With 1 Kettlebell and Your Own Fair Flesh When it comes to getting real-world strong, carving out a lean, athletic physique, and building a body that turns heads and drops jaws, nothing beats the 1-2 punch of kettlebells and your own bodyweight. Yet most budding kettlebell and bodyweight enthusiasts struggle, strain, and ultimately FAIL to make any real progress toward their goals – instead racking up aches, stiffness, and discomfort in place of new personal records, finding themselves in an endless cycle of being stuck at Square 1. To make matters worse, probably not 1 in 1,000 personal trainers (even many of the so-called “experts”) knows how to combine these tools into an effective, efficient program for busy people with big ambitions and little time. That's why I wrote The No-BS Kettlebell & Bodyweight Kickstart Program. I took the best tips, tactics, techniques, and strategies that I've learned from over 10 years of teaching real people like you – NOT natural athletes – how to positively dominate the essential kettlebell and bodyweight moves in less time than they thought possible. If you've got a kettlebell, a suspension trainer, and a little bit of floor space, all you need now is this book and a little bit of grit and you can be well on your way to new and exciting levels of brute strength, raw power, and personal confidence. Show Notes About The Guest(s): Alex Salkin is an internationally recognized leader in the world of strength and fitness for busy professionals and entrepreneurs. He is the author of two bestselling books, "The No BS Kettlebell and Body Weight Kickstart" and "Tamers of the Lost Arc." Alex is known for his expertise in kettlebell training, calisthenics, and natural human movement. He has taught workshops in multiple countries and is dedicated to helping individuals improve their health and fitness. Summary: In this episode of The Chris Voss Show, host Chris Voss interviews Alex Salkin, an expert in strength and fitness for busy professionals and entrepreneurs. They discuss the benefits of kettlebell training and how it can improve overall health and fitness. Alex explains why kettlebells are his preferred tool for strength training and highlights the convenience and effectiveness of using kettlebells at home. He also emphasizes the importance of focusing on strength and movement quality over cardio workouts and shares insights on common roadblocks that individuals in their forties and beyond may face. Alex provides valuable tips for maintaining health and strength as we age and offers advice on incorporating kettlebell training into a fitness routine. Key Takeaways: Kettlebells offer convenience and effectiveness for strength training at home. Strength training helps combat muscle wasting and improves power and speed. Proper posture and mobility are essential for maintaining a youthful appearance and overall health. There are no exercises that should be avoided based on age, but starting with appropriate movements is crucial. Crawling and loaded carries are effective exercises for core activation and overall strength. The ability to get up and down off the ground without assistance is correlated with longevity. Grip strength is an important indicator of overall health and should be maintained. Kettlebell ballistic lifts provide an opportunity for explosive muscle activation and can be done safely with proper instruction. Quotes: "Fitness, strength, health is actually a lot simpler and more straightforward than most of us have been led to believe." - Alex Salkin "Strength training allows you to get a very good fitness session in without necessarily having to break a sweat." - Alex Salkin

Kathy Joseph talks with me about her book The Lightning Tamers: Trues Stories of the Dreamers and Schemers Who Harnessed Electricity and Transformed Our World. This is episode 579 of Teaching Learning Leading K12, an audio podcast. Kathy Joseph splits her time between writing her next book, making documentary videos based on her books for her YouTube channel, and giving talks about the history of science and the importance of context for learning science. Kathy attributes her novel's depth and breadth partially to her YouTube channel, Kathy Loves Physics. She uses her channel to test out her ideas in documentary form and learn from her brilliant viewers, making this book an interactive experience. Despite her simple video format, Kathy has hit a nerve, and her channel has over six million views and over 98,000 subscribers. Kathy also puts all of her scripts on her website and dives into other fascinating scientific topics on her blog, spanning a broad range of topics like the history of the Nobel Prize, the birth of wireless, and the early history of quantum mechanics. Kathy has earned four higher education degrees in physics, engineering, and science education, but she feels as if her real education came from spending 12 years as a public high school physics teacher. She is an alumnus of the University of Chicago, Penn State, and the University of Utah. Kathy lives near San Francisco with her fabulous husband, Mike, her amazing children, Alicia and Alex, and one very cranky cat aptly named Brutus. Learn more at www.KathyLovesPhysics.com. Our focus today will be on Kathy's book - The Lightning Tamers: True Stories of the Dreamers and Schemers Who Harnessed Electricity and Transformed Our World So much to learn. Awesome talk! Get your own copy on Amazon here! https://a.co/d/faMep2Q For centuries the kettlebell has been the trusty “secret weapon” of athletes, wrestlers, soldiers, professional strongmen, and physical culturists the world over. In addition to forging hard bodies, fearless minds, and indomitable spirits, the kettlebell holds the key to unlocking a rare and potent set of movements known as ballistic lifts – exercises that use momentum to forge brute strength, raw explosive power, and next-level cardiovascular conditioning and stamina. Or at least that's how it was supposed to be. As kettlebells faded into ancient history with the rise of exercise machines, health clubs on every corner, and Western civilization's slow but decided turn toward easy living over a rugged existence, knowledge of how to use this tool slowly declined and disappeared. Then, with its triumphant reemergence onto the world stage at the dawn of the 21st century, collective interest in the ancient “weapon against weakness” once again surged forth, bringing with it a flood of new strength enthusiasts from all walks of life looking to reclaim their birthright of a mighty physique, brutishly powerful and resilient body, and a sleek, athletic frame – and the ballistic kettlebell lifts have once again reclaimed their throne. But there's a problem: For most trainees – who are used to slow, linear movements with barbells, dumbbells, and machines – one element of the kettlebell ballistics continues to confuse, frustrate, and hinder even the most dedicated of kettlebell fanatics: THE ARC. The Arc describes the quick, curved path the kettlebell must travel during a ballistic lift. And unlike many other elements of weight training, the Arc cannot be conquered, it cannot be captured, and it cannot be controlled. It can only be tamed. Even for experienced instructors the process of teaching budding kettlebell enthusiasts how to tame the arc has been more trial and error than it has been a precise and detailed treasure map. Until now. In this book, I will show you how to use a skeleton crew of tools – gymnastics rings, some floor space, and your own fair flesh – to unlock the secrets of ballistic strength in less time than you thought possible. And by the end of this bold and epic journey, you, too, can be a tamer of the lost arc!

First, the Rules Court convenes once again to look at the eligibility of our request for rerolls last week. To resolve the issues with Josh's Favorite Pokémon Is Mewtwo Clause, we're joined by @asteroidera, aka Kel, who was the first Bug Catcher to volunteer and benevolently offer up their Mewtwo. They do EXP. Share's first-ever live trade on-air, and then after some fawning by Josh, we begin our journey in earnest. Although one of us whose name rhymes with Burrito Chug is a Mayor Cheat who had already gotten the Poké Flute and released Marowak's soul, we quickly recount our ascent up the Pokémon Tower and then move onto greener pastures—the endless sea of green and literal sea that is the southerly Routes 12-15. After we've winded our way to Fuchsia City, we find a place that's both never looked better and also decidedly worse without its iconic Safari Zone, which has been replaced with the non-functioning (at least for these two grown adult men) GO Park. What's left but to see what kind of traps Koga and his gang of Jugglers & Tamers have laid... and whether we'll finally make it to our first episode this season without a eulogy.

Join Pastor Chris Lawson as he concludes our series in 1st Peter. We all stumble and we all get knocked down and fooled by that crafty, counterfeit lion. Praise God, because the real Lion of Judah knows us, loves us, and wants us to be with Him. When we come to Him for help and forgiveness, He will restore us, confirm us, strengthen us, and establish us.
Jake and Jon discuss the champions, Digimon. The pair try hard to stay on task discussing Digimon Tamers, a standalone season of the series. Chosen for its mature take on the franchise the delves into trauma of its characters as the children deal with hardships, such as death of a friend, depression, and other potential harm they face on Earth or the Digital world. That said the pair discuss various things like Saban and other properties, from power rangers to things like Van-pires and the one guy from Big Bad Beetleborgs. But join Jake and Jon as they discuss the world of Digimon digital monsters and how Tamers started as being set in the real world where Digimon is a game and show only to see that it was bleeding over into the real world something the original developers never thought possible. But as Digimon emerge so do their human partners known as tamers. Takato, the series goggleheaded leader, and his partner Guilmon, the goodest boy digimon, go from fun loving friends to champions of justice. Rika, the tamer known as the Digimon Queen, and Renamon, the fox with the drive to be the best, go from cold hearted fighters to caring friends. Henry, son of one of the original Digimon coders, and Terriermon, the bunny with a sarcastic attitude as big as his ears, go from hiding from fights to protecting those they care about. Jeri and Leomon from shining optimism to heartbreak. Kazu and Guardromon, full of it and a copycat respectively. Kenta and Marineangemon, kind of a bitch and a cute little angel. Ryo and Cyberdramon, the best of the best. Suzie and Lopmon, a little girl and her bunny. And Impmon, who goes fromca prankster that sounds like he should be on the Sopranos to a quest from redemption. Watch Digimon tamers and give us a listen.
