It's Marvel Monday and we're diving into another Captain America movie! ABOUT CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER As Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world, he teams up with a fellow Avenger and S.H.I.E.L.D agent, Black Widow, to battle a new threat from history: an assassin known as the Winter Soldier. AIR DATE & NETWORK FOR CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER April 4, 2014 | Theatrical Release CAST & CREW OF CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER Directors: Anthony Russo, Joe Russo Cast: Chris Evans as Steve Rogers/Captain America Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow Robert Redford as Alexander Pierce Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Falcon BRAN'S MOVIE SYNOPSIS Steve goes for a run but he's fast so it's funny. He meets a guy named Sam and they yuck it up a bit. Natasha picks him up. They have a mission to attend to! Even though they're on the mission together, Black Widow actually had a different mission than Cap. He's not happy about it and tells Nick Fury as much but Nick doesn't care. So Nick goes to decrypt the data that Natasha gave him but he can't which he finds suspicious. When he goes to meet up with another agent, he's ambushed by a group of people. It's not good. After a big fight, we see someone called the Winter Soldier walking towards him. Fury is able to escape before the Winter Soldier gets to him. He's able to get to Steve's apartment and tells him what's happened and hands him a flash drive of the ship's data and tells him to trust no one. Bad news gang - Nick Fury is dead. Natasha is confused why Nick was in Steve's apartment. Steve is now a fugitive and it doesn't take long for people to start attacking him. Luckily, Natasha is on his side. They are able to find the location of an old SHIELD base in New Jersey. While heading there, they have to kiss to get people off their case, obviously. They get to the base and head to the basement and Natasha is able to get the computer to boot up. The computer now holds like the consciousness of Arnim Zola from Red Skull fame. Turns out SHIELD recruited Zola to reform Hydra. Turns out, it didn't work and now they have the Winter Soldier doing their dirty work. Rogers and Romanoff almost get stuck in the bunker when a missile hits it. Winter Soldier is told to get them. Feeling like they need help, Cap decides to bring Sam into the fold from that time he met him while running. They try to get some insight from a Hydra mole but the Winter Soldier shows up. Big fight, big fun. But Steve recognizes him within his mask, his ol' pal Bucky Barnes. But Bucky doesn't know what he's talking about. They're captured by the baddies but Agent Hill breaks them out and brings them to a secret hideout where they find out that Nick Fury is alive. They hatch a big plan that involves Black Widow going full Mission Impossible with a face disguise to break into Hydra with the plan of leaking all the info. Nick Fury shows up to help make things happen. Meanwhile, Cap and Sam struggle with Bucky Barnes. It's not looking good for Cap but Bucky Barnes ends up rescuing him before disappearing. With S.H.I.E.L.D. in disarray, Romanoff appears before a Senate subcommittee to defend her and Rogers's actions. Fury, under the cover of his apparent death, pursues Hydra's remaining cells. Rogers and Wilson decide to find Barnes. Watch the show on Youtube - www.deckthehallmark.com/youtubeInterested in advertising on the show? Hydra's Scream II (VJtheDJ Re-Work) The Story of a Global Handshake. A few weeks back, the Instagram timeline got a bit loud. Davud IX shared his first steps into the world of Vogue production from Uzbekistan, and like anything in this culture, it was met with a "trial by fire." I stepped in....not to gatekeep, but to bridge the gap. After 8 years of walking New Way, Davud isn't a stranger to the floor; he's been in the trenches. He just needed a moment of understanding to frame his journey correctly. I promised him then that we wouldn't just talk about it....we'd make something about it. The Remix: A Musical Hug This isn't a correction; it's a handshake across the globe. I took Davud's original "Hydra" sounds from the sent files, took the sharp industrial synths and other bits, rearranged them and turned into a queen haha. This re-work was not meant to bend the whole world but to show this bitch...... DO NOT LET THESE GIRLS GET TO YOOOOOOU!!!!!! But also listen and communicate. From the "Instagram Incident" to the studio, and from Uzbekistan to the world, this is how we grow the culture. We respect the years put in on this, and we elevate the sounds together. What if the villain of the Bible has been hiding in plain sight across every mythology and empire in history? Doug Van Dorn and Dr. Judd Burton return for a members-only deep dive into the identity of Satan, not as a one-dimensional adversary, but as what Judd calls "the zero with a thousand artifices," an entity who wears different masks in different cultures while remaining the same being at the center. The guys trace him from the accuser in Job to the serpent in Eden, from Baal in the Ugaritic texts to Zeus in Greek myth, from Marduk in Babylon to Amun-Ra in Egypt, making the case that this figure has been seating himself as the chief deity of every dominant civilization throughout history. Doug offers a provocative reading of Job where the book opens with Satan as the accuser and closes with him revealed as Leviathan — the chaos monster that only God can tame — and suggests the Greeks separated what the Bible holds together, splitting the serpent and the sky god into different characters to recast the villain as the hero. The second half pushes the conversation into modern territory. If this entity rides the wave of empires, what does he look like now in a post-Enlightenment world that claims to have outgrown the gods? Doug argues that the separation of spirit and matter was always an illusion, and that Marx came from Hegel, Hegel came from Hermetic magic, and the occult never actually disappeared, it just moved underground. Judd connects the dots between ancient dialectical traps, the weaponization of language, and the re-emergence of pagan symbolism in modern politics and culture. The guys also explore Satan's counterfeit divine council, how the cross catastrophically disrupted his kingdom, the connection between chaos and water symbolism from Leviathan to Jesus walking on the sea, and why understanding this cosmic chess game is essential for making sense of everything from Epstein to alien abductions to the strange stories that pour into the Blurry Creatures inbox every week. Jim Love hosts Hashtag Trending, and highlights updates to TechNewsDay.ca/.com including a new "Best of YouTube" section for curated tech channels. Anthropic alleges three Chinese AI labs—DeepSeek, Moonshot, and MiniMax—ran industrial-scale distillation campaigns to extract capabilities from Claude models using proxy services and "Hydra cluster" networks with tens of thousands of fraudulent accounts, prompting Anthropic to strengthen identity controls and detection with cloud partners.  Amazon shares fall for nine straight sessions after investors react to plans for roughly $200B in 2026 capex largely for AI infrastructure, raising questions about ROI and future free cash flow. A cited analysis by YouTuber Nate B Jones argues Google's Gemini 3.1 Pro signals a strategy shift toward deeper reasoning (not just coding/agentic tools), noting a 77.1% ARC-AGI-2 score and DeepMind's scientific problem focus, contrasting OpenAI's product/distribution, Anthropic's agentic coordination, and Google's "pure intelligence" approach. The episode also references Citri Research's 2028 scenario planning report outlining a plausible fast-arriving AGI chain reaction—falling inference costs, rapid adoption, labor displacement pressure, and geopolitical competition for compute and talent—and promotes the Saturday show Project Synapse on long-term AI trajectories. Finally, Love discusses Sam Altman's comments at the India AI Impact Summit dismissing viral claims about ChatGPT water and energy use without providing specific counter-numbers, noting growing public backlash as data center water and electricity demands rise; the full interview is linked in show notes. Jackson as Nick FuryHayley Atwell as Peggy CarterSebastian Stan as James Buchanan 'Bucky' BarnesBRAN'S SYNOPSISThe movie kicks off with some scientists in the Arctic finding an old aircraft with someone frozen inside along with a circular shield. WHO COULD IT BEEEEEE?Flash back to March 1942, during World War II. Nazi dude and Hydra leader Johann Schmidt steals a mysterious glowing cube called the Tesseract, which possesses untold godly powers. In New York City, we meet little Steve Rogers. All Steve wants more than anything is to be in the Army, but he's rejected due to being a tiny boy. Dr. Abraham Erskine overhears Steve talking to his buddy Bucky Barnes about how badly he wants to serve his country, so he allows Rogers to enlist. What Steve doesn't know is that Dr. Erskine is interested in Steve for something called the "super-soldier" experiment under Erskine, along with British MI6 agent Peggy Carter. Once Steve selflessly jumps on a grenade as part of a test, they know he's their guy. Erskine tells Rogers that Schmidt once took a prototype version of the super-soldier formula that gave him superhuman strength but painfully changed his appearance. So, ya know, keep that in mind. It's lab time. Steve gets hooked up to this equipment and injected with all sorts of stuff and then put into this chamber. He's yelling and screaming but tells them to keep going. Once over, Steve comes out of the chamber and is frickin' jacked.Turns out Schmidt sent an assassin to kill Erskine who gets away in a car. But Steve is now a super soldier, so he just races him down by running after him. Before Steve can question him, he kills himself with a cyanide capsule and destroys the formula while he's at it.Steve doesn't get to super soldier much. Instead, he's sent on a tour as "Captain America" to sing & dance and promote war while scientists study his blood and attempt to reverse-engineer the formula. But when Rogers finds out that Bucky is MIA, he demands to fly behind enemy lines to find him. Turns out it was Schmidt all along. Steve confronts Schmidt. Schmidt's mask is taken off to reveal he is red. I suggest we call him "Red Skull".Steve, Bucky, and some other freed prisoners form a band...of brothers... called the Howling Commandos. Steve gets a new suit in the process and potentially a new gal 'cause the sparks between him and Peggy Carter are off the charts!Using information extracted from Zola (Red Skull's little henchman), the final Hydra stronghold is located, and Rogers leads an attack to stop Schmidt from doing all the bad things he wants to do. Right before Steve climbs aboard Schmidt's super-bomber, he and Peggy kiss big ones!He hops on the plane just before it takes off and they fight. The Tesseract is freed from its container, and Red Skull uses it to open a portal. The Tesseract then burns through the plane and falls into the ocean. Steve knows he has to go after it, so he radios Peggy to say goodbye and then crashes into the Arctic. Everyone assumes Steve Rogers died after they ultimately find the Tesseract on the ocean floor.Steve wakes up in a 1940s-style hospital room. He hears a radio broadcast of a baseball game that he attended in 1941 and becomes immediately suspicious. So he breaks out of his room and runs into Times Square, blown away by all the screeeens! Nick Fury shows up and tells him that he has been asleep for almost 70 years. In a post-credits scene, we basically get an Avengers trailer. Fury approaches Rogers and proposes a mission with worldwide ramifications. Watch the show on Youtube - www.deckthehallmark.com/youtubeInterested in advertising on the show? In October 1973, the poet and singer Leonard Cohen—thirty-nine years old, famous, unhappy, and at a creative dead end—traveled from his home on the Greek island of Hydra to the chaos and bloodshed of the Sinai desert when Egypt attacked Israel on the Jewish high holiday of Yom Kippur. Moving around the front with a guitar and a group of local musicians, Cohen met hundreds of young soldiers, men and women at the worst moment of their lives. Those who survived never forgot the experience. And the war transformed Cohen. He had announced that he was abandoning his music career, but he instead returned to Hydra and to his family, had a second child, and released one of the best albums of his career. In Who by Fire, journalist Matti Friedman gives us a riveting account of those weeks in the Sinai, drawing on Cohen's previously unpublished writing and original reporting to create a kaleidoscopic depiction of a harrowing, formative moment for both a young country at war and a singer at a crossroads. Matti Friedman is an award-winning journalist and author. Born in Toronto and based in Jerusalem, his work has appeared regularly in the New York Times, The Atlantic, Tablet, and elsewhere. Friedman's last book, Spies of No Country: Secret Lives at the Birth of Israel, won the 2019 Natan Prize and the Canadian Jewish Book Award for history. Pumpkinflowers: A Soldier's Story of a Forgotten War was chosen in 2016 as a New York Times Notable Book and one of Amazon's 10 best books of the year. His first book, The Aleppo Codex, won the 2014 Sami Rohr Prize and the ALA's Sophie Brody Medal. Matti Friedman on Twitter. I point out to my viewers and listeners how these public figures, these "influencers" deceive, and I encourage people to stay out of their webs of deception.  If you know their names, it's almost certain they are a manufactured figure.  They are the handpuppet on the tentacle of the Hydra. WTF AMU? The Alpha Male Universe just recalled their Earth Ambassador. Mr. Cool to Mr. Cucklehead. Fresh off a loss to a girly fighter, Andrew Tate has been handed one self-destructive script after another. The OYs writing his part have inverted his previous persona in a matter of weeks. I'm not sure if Tristan was even booked on the return flight to Universe Alpha. I've never paid attention to any of these people, but it's sure to enter my radar when they begin their direct work to destroy the psyche of mankind for their Ghoulie handlers. Many thanks for the channel campaign help. 80% of artists struggle with the same problem: getting seen by curators, gallerists, and collectors. And solving this problem is like slaying a multiheaded Hydra—the tasks are endless. In this episode, we talk about how to conquer the Hydra. I break down the reasons artists get stuck, even when they're working hard. You'll learn why the order you tackle things matters more than the tasks themselves, and how one overwhelmed member went from "30 things to do, doing none of them" to making real progress in six months. I'm also announcing the Netvvrk Navigator—a new assessment tool I built with artist William Powhida that shows you exactly where you are in your career and what to work on next. Plus, a special offer for the first 10 annual members that's only available once. If you've been working hard without seeing results, this episode will show you exactly what to do next.

Welcome back to the RPGBOT.Podcast, where today we're talking about Plane of Elysium—the one afterlife that sounds so good the Dungeon Master has to invent mechanics to stop you from moving there permanently. It's paradise. Your needs are met. You're at peace. You're happy. Too happy. In fact, if you stay too long, you might fail a Wisdom save and decide adventuring, heroism, and saving the multiverse are overrated compared to eternal riverfront property and a Mai Tai. And if that sounds suspiciously like quitting D&D to live in a gated community called "Ecstasy," don't worry—we'll explain why enforced happiness, dragon shift-work, and a giant bone spine gate mean Elysium is still absolutely unhinged. Show Notes What Is Elysium? Elysium is the Neutral Good Outer Plane, positioned between the Beastlands and Arborea. It represents true contentment, rest, and fulfillment, rather than law, chaos, or moral absolutism. Souls here aren't punished, tested, or judged—they're finally allowed to relax. The Core Vibe No labor, no scarcity, no stress. Everything you need is provided. Happiness is genuine—unless you're in the gate town, where it absolutely is not. The Four Layers of Elysium Amoria Gentle meadows, forests, and idyllic towns along the River Oceanus. Every settlement somehow has riverfront property. Biomes get weirder the farther you travel from the river (plains, badlands, deserts… for reasons). Eronia Craggy mountains, harsh winters, rugged terrain. Heaven for dwarves, mountain folk, and anyone who thinks Colorado weather is "nice actually." Belierin (Bellerin) The prison layer of heaven, which is a sentence that should worry you. Holds legendary threats that couldn't be killed: hydras, ancient evils, fallen dukes of Hell. Access is restricted—mostly via the River Oceanus. Perfect setup for a level 20 "heaven jailbreak" campaign. Thalassia Endless ocean dotted with heroic islands. Where the best souls go—or where deities personally abduct you before you die because you're just that good. Eternal tropical vacation, sailing, fishing, and zero capitalism. The River Oceanus A holy river that flows through Elysium and beyond. Functions as a major planar highway connecting multiple Upper Planes. Also conveniently Hydra-proof. Who Lives Here? Guardinals (celestial animal-folk with extreme "Narnia energy") Moon Dogs (the best boys; CR 12; hunt evil; deserve all the treats) Phoenixes, because nobody here is trying to harvest them for profit Numerous deities, including Pelor, Lathander, and Shantaea Pathfinder vs. D&D Pathfinder does have an Elysium—but it's functionally closer to D&D's Arborea. Same name, wildly different vibes. The Gate Town: Ecstasy Located in the Outlands, connected to Elysium. Appears joyful, welcoming, and celebratory… because happiness is magically enforced. Suppressed emotions inevitably explode into violence. Ruled by twin dragons: The Lightcaller (gold dragon, daytime ruler) The Night Whisperer (silver dragon, nighttime ruler) Never seen together. Definitely suspicious. Key Locations in Ecstasy Philosopher's Court – a "safe" place to vent grievances that now regularly turns into Fight Club. Revelhome Inn – run by a Lawful Neutral medusa who turns problem guests into garden statues. The Bone Plinth – a giant spine you climb to reach the gate to Elysium, because nothing says "upper plane" like skeletal horror décor. Planar Mechanics Overwhelming Joy (Optional Rule): Fail repeated Wisdom saves and you refuse to leave Elysium. If forcibly removed, you'll do everything possible to return. Fear effects are weakened. Violence is rare—unless you're in Ecstasy, where it's scheduled. Key Takeaways Elysium is D&D's most tempting afterlife—and the one most likely to derail your campaign. It offers true happiness, not moral judgment or endless labor. The layered structure lets every character imagine their perfect heaven. Belierin quietly turns heaven into an endgame boss rush. Ecstasy proves that enforced happiness is way scarier than honest suffering. Overwhelming Joy is a brilliant narrative mechanic for testing player priorities. What we mean when we say 'freight fraud': Ways to defend trucking against the hydra-headed monster

"These are very entrepreneurial people, and very smart. And at this level, it's a business." --Wex Fleet One's William Fitzgerald Of the top of this Overdrive Radio episode, Fitzgerald, over the Wex company's anti-crime efforts, made reference to just how organized the rings perpetrating a variety of scams all around the trucking industry have gotten. And the money involved -- money you want to keep, whether it's a piece of freight transaction with a broker, money in your business accounts used to fraudulently buy fuel or steal freight, or one of the many other flavors of fraud you'll hear touched on in this week's podcast. At the annual National Association of Small Trucking Companies conference, a panel convened to offer perspectives on crime, aimed at answering the question of just what we mean when we talk about "freight fraud." Too often, leaders around the industry and regulatory bodies tend to lump all manner of crimes in that bucket. We saw it to an extent again with news last week about the Department of Transportation's intent to utilize AI tools against it: https://www.overdriveonline.com/15814889 Overdrive Executive Editor Alex Lockie's report there delved into ways experts believe automated systems could be used for recognition of bad actors, yet specifics in DOT Deputy Secretary Steven Brabury's talk were few and far between. (Keep tuned for follow-ups as Lockie keeps ears to the ground for federal responses to follow-up questions sent to DOT.) For NASTC President David Owen, It was one woman's work around an old but ever-evolving issue -- that of "reincarnated" or "chameleon" carriers gaining authority over and over and over to outrun safety-record issues -- that got him thinking more closely about how the association might help small carriers of all stripes with education about and mitigation of all manner of frauds. Owen brought writer and researcher Danielle Chaffin into NASTC as Senior Sales Engineer following work mapping out numerous authorized entities she could link to each other in the registration system, as others like Dale Prax have done. She could see fairly simple, she felt, patterns of misrepresentation bad actors utilize. In enforcing the rules against such entities, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration seems to date reactive. A crash happens, FMCSA sees the employing carrier has reincarnated once or multiple times, and shuts them down. That seemed to be the case after the triple-fatal crash of Harjinder Singh. FMCSA shut down his employing carrier soon after that crash came to light: https://www.overdriveonline.com/15753590 If enforcement efforts could recognize a chameleon-type operation before such a disastrous event could even occur, though, would certainly be welcomed by most legit trucking companies. It's heartening to see DOT leaders at least paying lip service to putting systems in place to help. With the most high-profile crashes, for all the focus on CDL drivers behind the wheel, non-domiciled or not, all are employed somewhere. There's no shortage of analysis concluding many such employers are running around the normal hoops through which good carriers small, large and in between must jump to stay within the bounds of the rules to sustain real, legitimate business. Chameleon-type operations represent but one of the myriad types of frauds perpetrated on legitimate truckers and the American public. Panelists run through a variety of schemes and ways to tackle them head-on: Resources: **Cargo theft prevention: https://overdriveonline.com/15769312 **Recognizing double brokers, vetting systems: https://www.overdriveonline.com/15707529 **Identity theft: https://www.overdriveonline.com/15708218 **Wex's William Fitzgerald's fuel-fraud talk: https://www.overdriveonline.com/15772651 **'Cyber hygiene' and social-engineering hacks: https://www.overdriveonline.com/15755615

We name what so many feel but can't quite articulate: mercy has been generous, but justice is near, and the gap between those two realities exposes where our hearts stand. From a controversial shooting to deeper cultural rifts, we trace how sin breeds lawlessness, how lawlessness fractures families and cities, and why banding together around truth and charity is the only path through the noise.Subscribe, share this with a friend who needs steady ground, and leave a review to help others find the show. In our 100th episode, we celebrate three years of POD256 and almost two years of building the open-source Bitcoin mining stack. We share behind‑the‑scenes stories from our first Telehash block find and chart what's coming for 2026. We walk through how the 256 Foundation allocated over $400k in grants across Ember One (open hashboard design), Libre Board (open control board), Mujina (open miner firmware), and Hydra Pool (self‑hosted pool), and how these projects are already flipping the closed “black box” mining model on its head. We dive into progress updates: Mujina running on Bitaxe Gamma, early Ember One integrations and cooling, Hydra Pool one‑command spin‑ups, plus community contributions like Stratum v2 support and Home Assistant control; and preview our plan to run Telehash #3 on a fully open stack live. We also invite miners and devs to point hashrate, contribute code, and join us at Telehash and NEMS as we turn this momentum into a product-style demo of open mining in action. We revisit the wild Telehash night when an Apollo-powered solo pool briefly wrangled an exahash and struck block 881423 (shout-out to Megawatt!), reflect on building the 256 Foundation and this pod from the early “Hash Cast” days, and outline how anyone from heatpunks to large farms can plug into the stack. Finally, we highlight community calls to action: spin up Hydra Pool, hack on Mujina, help us evangelize at meetups and campuses, and support free and open-source mining. Last but certainly not least: Code is not crime, support the Samourai devs' families and sign the pardon petition here: https://billandkeonne.org

Dr. Grauer retired from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 2006. travelersinthenight.org From March 2025. Today's 2 topics: - Astronomers have yet to discover any long lasting natural object, beside our Moon, which orbits the Earth, however, occasionally, a small space rock enters into a temporary dance with our home planet.   - My Catalina Sky Survey teammate Greg Leonard was asteroid hunting in the constellation of Hydra with our Schmidt telescope on Mt. Bigelow, Arizona when a fast moving unknown point of light passed through a set of his images. After Greg reported his observations to the Minor Planet Center for the next 10 days it was tracked by observatories in Arizona, Italy, Hawaii, Australia, and Argentina.  Citizen scientist H. A. Güler analyzed these data. The Minor Planet Center published the discovery of the near Earth asteroid 2018 CN41. The discovery was deleted when the object turned out to be a Falcon Heavy Rocket Upper stage with a Tesla roadster attached.   We've added a new way to donate to 365 Days of Astronomy to support editing, hosting, and production costs.  Just visit: https://www.patreon.com/365DaysOfAstronomy and donate as much as you can!
