Vad är skillnaden på saker som hänt och sådant man drömt? På liv och litteratur? Maria Küchen ser gränserna upplösas hos Göran Tunström. Lyssna på alla avsnitt i Sveriges Radios app. ESSÄ: Detta är en text där skribenten reflekterar över ett ämne eller ett verk. Åsikter som uttrycks är skribentens egna.Det finns ingen skarp gräns mellan fantasi och verklighet. Bilderna jag har av mina närmaste är inga exakta avtryck av människorna de är – mina minnen och känslor lägger till och drar ifrån. Och varje roman är ett mikrokosmos där författaren väver ihop fantasi och erfarenhet tills det faktiskt blir ointressant vad som har ”hänt på riktigt” och inte.Det blir väldigt tydligt när man närmar sig författaren Göran Tunströms liv och verk. Många förknippar honom med romanen ”Juloratoriet” från 1983. Denna släktkrönika över tre generationer med en genialt hänförande blandning av fantasi och verklighet, vann hela svenska folkets hjärtan.Någon har kallat den ”den sista litterära lägerelden”. Sedan dess har knappast något skönlitterärt verk i Sverige samlat människor på samma sätt. Unga och gamla, rebeller och stofiler, kulturelit och kroppsarbetare – alla slog sig ner kring ”Juloratoriet”.När den kom var jag 22 år. Ett decennium senare, som färsk författare, blev jag krönikör i tidskriften Metallarbetaren. Det var även Göran Tunström. Vi möttes ett par gånger tack vare det, men jag vågade knappt säga ett ord till denna legendar. Och nu är det för sent.Tunström hade svagt hjärta och lungcancer efter decennier av kedjerökning. I januari år 2000, knappt 63 år gammal, på en middag med vänner, föll han ihop utan förvarning och dog helt stilla. Han blev nästan tio år äldre än sin pappa, vars svaga hjärta han hade ärvt. Förlusten av fadern i barndomen går sedan som ett mörkt stråk genom liv och verk. Den innebar också att han miste sitt hem.Pappa Hugo hade varit präst i värmländska Sunne. Efter hans död fick familjen inte stanna kvar i prästgården. Från att ha bott luftigt och vackert, hamnade änkan Rosa och hennes fyra barn i ett kyffe till lägenhet. Kanske skapade det en rotlöshet hos Göran Tunström som senare fick honom att resa och bo världen över – den grekiska ön Hydra, Latinamerika, Indien, New York. Men vem vet?Det är bara spekulationer. För att skriva någons biografi behöver man oundvikligen fläta ihop spekulationer och fakta. Det kräver ett särskilt handlag. Kanske behövs en skönlitterär författare – någon som kan skapa en levande berättelse, men utan att förvanska. Som Lars Andersson. Under 20 års tid närmade han sig systematiskt vännen och kollegan Tunströms liv och verk.Ur ett rikt och rörigt stoff förlöser han berättelsen om en människa han kände, men som ingen av oss kan lära känna helt. Den 800-sidiga biografin ”Försök med ett liv” gestaltar en verklig person som jag drömmer fram medan jag läser. Boken bygger bland annat på sexton fullskrivna anteckningsböcker som Lars Andersson hittade bland efterlämnat material. I dessa skrivhäften är det inte alltid tydligt om Tunström har noterat saker som hänt eller saker han drömt.Anteckningarnas trådar vävdes in i verket – ett trettiotal volymer med poesi och prosa, utgivna mellan 1958 och 2003. Göran Tunström var en litterär gigant. Första steget i raketen som lyfte honom mot stjärnorna var generationsromanen ”Maskrosbollen”. Den gavs ut 1962 när han var tjugofem. Hans jämnåriga älskade den. Fjorton år senare kom den självbiografiska ”Prästungen” – med den fick han en större publik. Innan ”Juloratoriet” kom och förändrade allt.Boken utspelar sig liksom flera av hans romaner i Sunne. Där bodde inte Göran Tunström som vuxen. När han inte var på resa höll han till i Stockholm och på ön Koster i Bohuslän. Men i Juloratoriet blev Sunne hans litterära hemmaplan, ett unikt landskap befolkat av människor ur både verkligheten och fantasin – ofta sammanflätade i samma gestalt.De påminner om något, dessa romanfigurer. Jag kommer att tänka på kändisar. Också de är fantasifoster, även om det finns en okänd människa av kött och blod någonstans bortom föreställningarna som mediernas berättelser skapar.Ibland blir kändisar folks låtsaskompisar eller förälskelser. Det kallas parasociala relationer, detta att fantisera fram en personlig gemenskap med människor som inte vet att man finns. Författare och artister flätas ofta in i parasociala förbindelser eftersom allmänheten har en så intim relation med deras verk. Och verket är förstås lika mycket släkt med sin författare som barn och föräldrar – men något pålitligt avtryck av upphovspersonen blir det aldrig. Det har ett eget liv.Göran Tunströms historia är för alltid sammanbunden med Leonard Cohens. Inte bara för att de var vänner som tillbringade viktiga perioder tillsammans på Hydra, utan också för att Cohen var så berömd. Även de mest distanserade av oss fascineras av det. Vän med världsstjärnan Cohen – wow! Det är rätt tramsigt, men de här männens kändisskap är åtminstone tätt förbundet med ett skapande av vikt.Cohens sånger har påverkat mig starkt, och Göran Tunströms böcker drog mig in mot litteraturen. Utan honom och en handfull andra förebilder hade jag kanske aldrig blivit en skrivande människa.Deras verk ger lite mer glans åt min vardag. Här sitter jag nu i en fåtölj med en kopp kaffe och datorn i knät och fantiserar om Tunström och Cohen, som på sextiotalet på Hydra delade skrivbord. Utsnittet ur deras gemensamma verklighet får ett heligt skimmer, Grekland är ju fantastiskt och skapande kan vara underbart.Dock inte alltid. Tunströms kamp med författandet var smärtsam ibland, och han hade perioder när han inte kunde skriva alls. När han kom ut ur en av dem, efter ”Juloratoriet”, blev det en nyhet på Rapport.Det var inte bara genom Cohen som Tunström trädde in i gränslandet mellan fantasi och verklighet i det allmänna medvetandet. På höjden av sin bana var han och konstnären Lena Cronquist verkligen kändisar – ett power couple i svenskt kulturliv. Hon skymtar i hans böcker, han avbildas i hennes målningar. Det är konst som liv och liv som konst, men den som fastnar i verklighetsbakgrunden missar det väsentliga: Kraften i verket som just någonting skapat. I det påhittade finns en autenticitet som vår tid tycks ha allt svårare att uppfatta.Verken är platser där dröm och verklighet möts fullt ut – precis som i var och en av oss, varje dag, hela tiden. Och ett konstnärligt verk, precis som livet, tillåter förklädnader. I ”Juloratoriet” smyger pojkarna Sidner och Splendid ut i natten och möter Selma Lagerlöf. Hon dyker upp ibland i Tunströms romaner, ännu en värmländsk litterär gigant, halvt verklig, halvt ihopdrömd. Llevábamos semanas de retraso, arrastrando los pies por un callejón sin salida, y era hora de estampar el puño en la mesa y poner al día este maldito circo. Por si eso fuera poco, las puñeteras editoriales seguían sin darnos tregua alguna, allá donde mirásemos nos bombardeaban con tochales y rescates de una vida pasada. Teníamos una lista preparada para combatirlo, un arsenal de nombres que no iban a quedar enterrados: Javier de Isusi, Jeff Lemire, la nueva sombra que crecía alrededor de Blacksad y esos mutantes noventeros que nunca saben cuándo retirarse. La noche iba a ser larga en la radio. Muy larga. Pero no nos importaba. Había gente ahí fuera, gente escuchando, gente que necesitaba estas historias para no perderse del todo en su propia oscuridad. Y por ellos, íbamos a encender la ciudad. Another unconfirmed, but believable rumor that has taken the Internet by storm concerns Marvel TV's Wonder Man series and its episode run times, which places the longest episode at 34 minutes and the shortest at 23 including credits. Per The Hollywood Reporter, DC Studios has greenlit a Superman spinoff series focusing on standout Skyler Gisondo's Jimmy Olsen and coming to us from Dan Perrault and Tony Yacenda, the creators of Netflix's award-winning mockumentary American Vandal. The series is said to focus on Olsen and other Daily Planet reporters, (though Lois Lane and Clark Kent were conspicuously excluded,) as he tackles cases involving superpowered villains, with Season One featuring Flash rogue Gorilla Grodd as a big bad. Predator Badlands was the apex, ahem, predator at the box office last weekend debuting to $40 million domestically and doubling the haul internationally at $80 million worldwide. The film outperformed expectations, representing a much-needed shot of adrenaline in what has been a lethargic Fall box office, while also putting up bests for the franchise; beating out 2004's Alien Vs Predator and 2018's The Predator in the domestic and global arenas, respectively.Blue Beetle and Cobra Kai star Xolo Maridueña has been cast in season 3 of Netflix's One Piece and will play the character Portgas D. Ace.Jennifer Lawrence recently revealed that she and Emma Stone are developing a movie about the iconic Muppet Miss Piggy with Oh, Mary! writer and Tony winner Cole Escola penning the script, marking the character's first solo outing siynce Jim Henson debuted her on The Muppet Show in 1976.Netflix and Sony have finalized a deal for another “KPop Demon Hunters” movie, with plans to release the animated musical sequel in 2029.Lionsgate has released the first trailer for Michael Jackson biopic 'Michael' starring Jaafar Jackson, the nephew of the late pop icon. Steven Spielberg is returning to executive produce “Gremlins 3” while “Harry Potter” filmmaker Chris Columbus is set to direct and produce. Disney has released the first official trailer for season 2 of Percy Jackson and The Olympians, which begins streaming on December 10th. In gaming news, Skydance Games is once again pushing the release for the much-anticipated “Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra” video game from May 2026 to November 2026. Rockstar Games also announced that they would be delaying Grand Theft Auto 6 once again, this time from May 2026 to November 2026 as well. Ryan Reynolds and Amazon MGM have teamed up to develop a remake of Thunderbolt & Lightfoot, a 1974 action comedy that starred Clint Eastwood and Jeff Bridges. Reynolds is eyeing to star in the adaptation and is also collaborating on the script with writers Enzo Mileti and Scott Wilson, a writing team who worked on season four of comedic crime show Fargo. Shane Reid, who edited Reynolds' Deadpool & Wolverine, will make his directorial debut with the project.

These two very different examples of children's horror give us plenty of scope to discuss the varied expressions of the genre, and this episode's digressions include the creation of the Honey Monster, the genius of George Elliot and the surprisingly specific prudishness of pre-teens. Enjoy! And just a warning, Stone Cold is on the grittier side. There's a serial killer character and a bit more violent. Nothing too explicit, but it's not as fun as some of our other topics. Natalie Lawrence is an author and illustrator who explores our relationship with the natural world, looking through multiple lenses - from the biological to the mythic and psychoanalytic. She completed a MSc and Ph.D. in History and Philosophy of Science at Cambridge, exploring the making and meanings of monstrous creatures in seventeenth century Europe. She published her first book as a teenager, Feathers and Eggshells, inspired by Hampstead Heath and the birds she was entranced by as a child, and published Planta Sapiens with Paco Calvo in 2022. She has also given a TedX talk, appeared on BBC Radio, and worked with installation artists.  In this chat, we talk about humans' fascination for monsters, how the walrus was originally conceived of as being a monster, the Hydra of Hamburg, cryptids as contemporary monsters and the ways in which our understanding of what is real and what exists has changed over the centuries.
