Last weekend we saw another mass shooting hate crime in Jacksonville, Florida. The three victims were Angela Michelle Carr, 52; Anolt Joseph “AJ” Laguerre Jr., 19; and Jarrald De'Shaun Gallion, 29. These are becoming all too common as the insidiousness continues to spread on social media, cable news, and many, many other outlets. You had the Walmart murders in El Paso, where a Texas man killed 23 people and injured 22 more. Then, The Tree of Life synagogue shooting in Pittsburgh, where a 46-year-old truck driver shot and killed 11 people and wounded six Back to Florida where you had the Pulse Nightclub Shooting, in 2016. A gunman shot and killed 49 people and wounded 53 others at the gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida before police shot and killed him after a three-hour standoff. In May 2022 an 18-year-old man killed 10 Black people at a Tops Friendly Markets grocery store in western New York. The gunman wrote a 180-page manifesto on racial purity before driving more than 240 miles (380 km) to Buffalo, a place where he expected to find Black people, police said. While a few of these crimes I highlighted have occurred in Florida, the problem is everywhere.  Sources: https://www.nbcnews.com/news/nbcblk/jacksonville-grief-stricken-community-grapples-target-rcna102079 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2RsXFaH5x0U https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lY06GIyMBDA https://www.pbs.org/newshour/nation/white-man-fatally-shoots-3-black-people-at-a-florida-store-in-a-hate-crime-officials-say Learn more about your ad choices. Chef Angela-Michelle, wife of Hank Hughes. She has been cooking since the age of 6 and baking since she was 8 yrs old. I guess you can say Chef Angela-Michelle was “born to cook" because her mom was a cook and her dad a chef. Not only was she a product of a grand culinary creation, but she also spent half her childhood on the family farm. As an adult, Chef researched, practiced, trained, taught and traveled the world to gain vast culinary knowledge. All of this expertise has led Chef Angela-Michelle to retire from her 25-yr modeling career and start her own cooking company, Culinary Kisses. Present day, Chef Angela-Michelle is a self-proclaimed foodie extremist who loves and cooks all kinds of food. She travels the nation performing cooking demonstrations and nutrition talks. She also travels the world to discover various food, spices, nutrition items and cooking techniques to incorporate into her uniquely delicious dishes. These recipes are passed on through her hands-on and virtual cooking classes, cookbooks, and wellness publications. Aside from studying culinary art from some of the most renowned chefs in the world, she’s also certified in plant-based nutrition by eCornell University. Bottom line, Chef Angela-Michelle loves food, and loves sharing her unique view of food with the rest of the world.

She sees the photoshoot as a way for a woman to transform how she views herself. Her clients leave with a new sense of confidence and feel empowered by the experience. Angela’s passion for photography, art, and her clients is obvious to everyone she meets. She lives to create and she is in her element when she is photographing. No matter the project Angela throws her heart, mind, and soul into everything she does.   WHERE TO FIND Angela ONLINE: Website Instagram Instagram (Personal) EPISODE SUMMARY: Angela shares her incredible story of dealing with Antiphospholipid Syndrome (APS) which is a clotting disorder. She did not know of this diagnosis until 2016 when she had a stroke and nearly died. Thankfully, she survived this traumatic event but it left her blind in her right eye. She turned to yoga to heal from the effects of the stroke and the pain of miscarriage. Practicing yoga was so helpful for Angela that she felt inspired to become an instructor herself. Embrace your scars! Sharing our story with the world can feel overwhelming because we are not sure how it will make others feel, but what we may not know is how much you could be helping others with your story! Someone else might be struggling the same way and you’ve just made that person feel less alone. Angela and I talk about how open we are with sharing our biggest scars. She says that by embracing the scars, she is educating and helping others in a tremendous way. Physical activity can be challenging when you’re faced with chronic illness. However, Angela beat the odds and found healing in yoga. She talks about how she was able to use yoga as her self care and why it has helped her mentally and physically. “Having that mindset of strength and reliance is so imperative to living a quality of life no matter what illness you’re faced with, and yoga helped me do that.” -Angela Michelle Sometimes, it can be tough to always have a positive mindset. Angela has been through a lot from having a stroke, losing part of her vision, not being able to have children, and much more. Naturally, she felt overwhelmed with the amount of stuff that was being thrown at her, but what helped was allowing herself the space to grieve and feel the hurt. She says it’s about allowing yourself to be in the hurt but not stay in it! “You have to give yourself space to have those breakdowns.” -Angela Michelle Angela says that her chronic illness was a gift. It was a gift of perspective and she really embraces that. This illness has shined a whole new light on the way that she now sees the world. “Love your body for how it makes you live and not just how it looks.”  -Angela Michelle We have to be our own advocate when it comes to our health and Angela gives us her tips on how to advocate for yourself when you’re faced with any sort of medical issue.
