Sorry Henry Mancini, but the Pink Panther Theme Music is really in alignment with a podcast segment about the fictional shenanigans of a fictional, for now, Black private investigator in TN...Parents check who you allow around your kids! Leslie Jones is foolish but her recapping Allstars is on brand and hysterical!!! I keep my ST commentary superficial because they are wrapping this up real quick to get to the Section 31 movie but Labyrinthe the most recent episode is just...meh. Mary's Boot...We asked for it and here it is!! You got a couple of stacks, then you can afford it. Mary does not do Pay Less and never has. And for those fans of P-Valley and the Pynck and the stripper Mercedes knows about the reference #It_ART reference. Also, after viewing that video of Cassie's assault these are the boots that should be used to stomp Puff and maybe even Martell from #Loveandmarriagehuntsville, who's with me? Intimacy Coordinator Reveals How Sex Scenes Are Staged and How Actors Are Protected! From Basic Instinct to Call Me by Your Name, Coming Home to Fifty Shades of Grey, P-Valley to Outlander, sex scenes play a vital role in movies, TV shows, and plays spanning genres and subjects. Yet, as dramas and comedies increasingly reflect the reality of diversity, depicting acts of intimacy in a way that's genuine, affecting, free from entrenched stereotypes, and respectful to audiences and actors is a challenge. In The Intimacy Coordinator's Guidebook: Specialties for Stage and Screen (Routledge; April 1, 2024; Original Trade Paperback; ISBN: 978‑1‑032‑53147‑2), Brooke M. Haney reveals how intimacy coordinators use their cultural competencies and specialties in practice to create the most compelling storytelling. As Haney stresses, the job requires competency in the language of choreography - every move performed for the camera or a live audience, from a passionate kiss to a chilling assault, is meticulously choreographed, just like a dance or a fight scene - along with training in tools like modesty garments and props. In addition, an intimacy coordinator must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to read situations and respond proactively. What's more, every intimacy coordinator must find their unique lens. (For instance, some coordinators are specialists in bondage, whereas others are specialists working with minors.) The book features other intimacy coordinators' stories. It includes conversations with Olivia Luccardi (a producer and actress who played Melissa in The Deuce, the first television show to employ an intimacy coordinator), Tai Leshaun (a Black actress in Thunder Force and The Other Black Girl), Becca Blackwell (a trans actor, performer and writer), Jimmy Smits (an Emmy Award-winning Latino actor known for roles in TV dramas from NYPD Blue to Sons of Anarchy) and other Hollywood insiders who have worked on projects involving intimacy.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-unplugged-totally-uncut--994165/support.

Hello Therese, we're back for our annual holiday extravaganza. This year we're movie-clubbing Todd Haynes' very luscious and very gay Carol (2015), starring Cate Blanchett, Rooney Mara, and Sarah Paulson. We discuss the erotic imagery of merely a glove, lesbian sex scenes through the lens of a gay man, and the joy in watching flat male characters (what even IS Jake Lacy's character's name?). All that Carol talk for you plus our reactions to the Golden Globe nominations, our dream casting of Da'Vine Joy Randolph and Emma Stone as Pearl Bailey and Carol Channing in a future film, and some Muppet talk. And then…we give you a solid ten minutes on our theory that gay men hate all gay male things while lesbians are much more accepting, our trip down memory lane to remember “lesbian kiss episodes” during November sweeps, the legacy of Roseanne, and Natalie Zea hunting down Kimberly Pierce for the Boys Don't Cry short she starred in! On this episode, Amber and Erika are joined by platinum-selling R&B diva Nicci Gilbert of the iconic trio Brownstone. Nicci is a singer, songwriter, and film and stage producer who created the stage play “Soul Kittens Cabaret” in 2003. Nicci subsequently filed suit against the Starz network and others alleging that the hit show “P-Valley” uses the same plot line and wrongly infringes upon copyrighted elements of Soul Kittens Cabaret. Through her own experience, Nicci explains what intellectual property is and how difficult it can be for Black creatives in particular to protect their work. She candidly discusses the entertainment industry normalizing the theft of intellectual property through bad contracts, promises of exposure, and enforcing the notion that it's part of “paying one's dues” on the road to success. Nicci uses her and other Black artist's experiences to explain what's at stake when creatives lose ownership of their work. But most importantly, we learn what's being done to close the gap. What a pleasure to sit down and chat with the effervescent Tamra Davis. Tamra was the director of the MMMBop and Where's the Love video clips. These videos were one of the main, if the not, THE main parts of our Hanson 1997 era. It was through these videos that we were able to connect with Hanson, to visually see them and.....well pause our VHS's and stare. Tamra began her career directing music videos for acts like Tone Loc, Depeche Mode, Indigo Girls, NWA, Hanson and Sonic Youth and made her first feature in 92 with Guncrazy starring Drew Barrymore. Ms Barrymore received a Golden Globe Nomination. She then went on to direct feature films starring Chris Rock-CB4, Adam Sandler in Billy Madison, Dave Chappelle in Half Baked, Britney Spears in Crossroads and most recently, 13: The Musical for Netflix. She is also known for her documentary work on Jean Michel Basquiat: The Radiant Child and The Punk Singer about Kathleen Hanna. After having 2 kids with her husband Mike D of the Beastie Boys she started a career in Television has directed on shows such as Grey's Anatomy, Dead To Me, The Politician and P Valley. She directed the pilot for High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. She continues to work in documentaries, episodic television and feature films. You can find Tamra on Instagram @tamradavis1

Whether a series is set in the present, the past, or a different universe altogether, costume design can be the first thing a viewer notices about a character and world. It has the ability to spark curiosity, nostalgia, or sense of place by telling us who a character is (or more interestingly, who they're trying to be). In our first in-depth look at costuming, costume designers Trayce Gigi Field (Poker Face, A League of Their Own) and Tiffany Hasbourne (P-Valley, Atlanta) discuss the unpredictable nature of costuming, why each project requires a unique approach, and the collaborative art of costume design. This conversation was recorded live at ATX TV Festival Season 12 (June 1-4, 2023) in Austin, TX.PANELISTS:Trayce Gigi Field (Costume Designer, Poker Face, A League of Their Own)Tiffany Hasbourne (Costume Designer, P-Valley, Atlanta)MODERATOR:Nadia Chaudhury (Eater Austin)SUBSCRIBE to youtube.com/ATXTV for more panels, conversations & events with your favorite TV creatives and casts.FOLLOW ATX TV:Twitter: twitter.com/ATXFestivalFacebook: facebook.com/ATXFestivalInstagram: instagram.com/atxfestival/TikTok: tiktok.com/@atxtvLearn more about year round ATX TV programming & events: https://atxtv.co/Become an ATX TV Member: https://atxtv.co/membership

If you watch ESPN's "First Take" and follow LeBron James on Twitter, you may be led to believe that a BYU fan allegedly yelling the N-word at a Duke women's volleyball player is the biggest story on the planet, but there are a lot of questions to be answered about the incident. “I've attended a lot of sporting events in my career as a sports journalist. Someone shouting repeated racial slurs would stand out. The only time it goes ignored is when it's a group of black young people calling each other the N-word.” Jason lays out the evidence that Duke's Rachel Richardson, aided by her politician grandmother and tutored by anti-racism group "A Long Talk," could be the new Jussie Smollett. "Fearless" soldier Royce White joins the conversation along with Shemeka Michelle, who adds her perspective as a resident of North Carolina. Steve Kim rejoins "Fearless" to expand on yesterday's conversation and engages with Royce and Jason regarding whether there can be another athlete to fill the societal role of the great Muhammad Ali. Finally, Delano Squires joins the show to discuss NFL legend Deion Sanders inviting the cast of Starz's “P-Valley” to visit his Jackson State football team and what it reveals about historically black colleges and universities and their relationship with the LGBTQ community. Happy Belated Fireworks Day! The guys (and Demaris) are back at Compound Rory, working on "independence" day. They start off discussing why Mal declined his invite to Michael Rubin's party in the Hamptons, and ask him to explain his personal vendetta against all white parties. Rory insists the R&B guys can thump better than the rappers, and Demaris presses the guys on why they ignored her messages in the group chat. They address R.Kelly and Ghislaine Maxwell's sentencing, as well as the legendary battle between Omarion and Mario, while Mal tries to convince the team that B2K is one of the greatest groups of all time. They also give their opinions on P Valley's same-sex scene criticism, new music, Dr. Dre's new music and more!
The Starz drama P-Valley is set in a Black strip club in the Mississippi Delta. The dancers are acrobatic, artistic and independent. The show is about their labor, but also about a wide variety of stories about power, money, and a community's identity. It recently returned for a second season, so in this encore episode, we revisit our discussion about the show's first season.
