The Tillies are the Australian football team taking the country and the world by storm. But behind every great football team, there's an amazing team of experts working behind the scenes, incredible women who help to manage the Matildas. On today's episode, we meet Ann Odong, the Media and PR Manager for the Matildas. Ann is responsible for making sure the fans get access to the players and get to learn about their lives. But she's also equally responsible for looking after the players, and remembering that sometimes they too need a break from the media. At an incredible home World Cup, Ann and the media team worked behind the scenes to make sure the Tillies captured hearts right around the world. But Ann is also a huge advocate for stepping into the foreground to be a visible role model for young women and girls and is the inspiration behind this series. This episode proves that there are so many roles and opportunities for passionate sportswomen both on and off the field, we hope you enjoy the final episode of this mini series: managing the Matildas. Long before the glossy production and the fan zones, long before the slick social media presence and the souvenir stores in host cities, Ann Odong and her friends were covering women's soccer. A lawyer and journalist, she essentially used her profession to fund her obsession, often allowing her heart to rule her head, and she has finally been reaping some reward as a digital content producer for FIFA at the Women's World Cup. She told me about making the athletes visible, how to build trust and how she came to shoot one of the most viral videos of the tournament with the Nigerian team.

Catherine is here today with Ann Odong. For those of you who are active followers of women's football in Australia, this will be a name that rings a bell and a loud one at that – Ann Odong. At a time when women's sport is starting to gain traction and attention, for over a decade, Ann has been part of a new wave of digital publishers with her website "The Women's Game" at the vanguard of women's football coverage. Ann has sacrificed the better part of close to ten years in favour of covering women's football after she discovered a gaping hole in the marketplace. Just before the 2007 Women's World Cup rolled around Ann was trying to do research for that and she couldn't find anything. Trying to find sources, articles and any information was really difficult. And then in 2008 when the Westfield Women's League came around, Ann thought why not start a website with all the information on women's football in just one place so people who are researching don't have to try and go to 15 different type of sites to find what they need. At the time, Ann's relationship with football media work began on a radio show in Perth called The World Football Program discussing the A-League with her mentor - Penny Tanner encouraging her all the way! Coupled with what Ann describes as a ‘really Macbook' and a ‘super simple understanding of how to build a website', The Women's Game was born out of her bedroom in Perth, Western Australia. After years of hard work, the website has gone on to establish itself as a leader in opinion pieces, articles and information on women's football in Australia. Find Out More About Ann Odong Ann's Website - The Women's Game Follow Ann on Twitter @AnnOdong Ann Odong on Instagram @AnnOdong It's now time to tune into this one persistent, energetic and vibrant woman of inspiration.
