Emily Gielnik has played more than 50 games for the Matildas, and counting.  It's a career that's so far included an Olympic Games and a FIFA World Cup. But her journey into that side was far from the textbook. In fact it was a school camp at the Australian Institute of Sport that started her footballing career, when her PE teacher asked if she could join in on a training session with the Matildas.  Fast forward and Emily made her debut with the Brisbane Roar at age 18. And then with the Australian Under-19s, where she scored a hat-trick on debut, and eventually with the Tillies a year later. After an extensive career around the world, Emily is back scoring goals at the Melbourne Victory. In her spare time she works with teammate Chloe Logarzo running Future Baller, clinics designed to equip young girls with holistic football skills and mental strength. It's a veritable smorgasbord of pop culture this week, and yes we're kicking off with the slide into soap opera for The Crown. It's final season is upon us and oh boy, it's a bit cooked. Zan is watching it all.Nat Bass has revealed she's in a loving relationship with a woman; how good is good news? And it's Marie Claire's turn with their Women of the Year issue, and it's all about the Tillies. It's 2023 and we're still chasing the question “who is Banksy?”, and also dealing with the (heart)breaking news that Hall is suing Oates.Elton John and Jake Shears are penning a musical about Tammy Faye Baker – please, take our money.  And Andre 3000 has emerged with a new album of ambient flute music! Oh Bjork just dropped a banger with Rosalia too, what a time!Greg Sheridan's hot takes on why women should be making more babies misses a few key points, and Myf and Zan have been in the movie theatre watching the much talked about new film Saltburn, and the David v Goliath movie Dumb Money.Show notes:The Crown S06: https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2023/nov/16/the-crown-season-6-review-so-bad-its-like-an-out-of-body-experience-netflixNatalie Bassingthwaite: https://podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/natalie-bassingthwaighte-speaks-her-truth/id1553858670?i=1000635227493Marie Claire Women of the Year: https://www.marieclaire.com.au/marie-claire-women-of-the-year-2023Banksy: https://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/2023/nov/21/banksy-reveals-his-first-name-interview-clipHall & Oates: https://pitchfork.com/news/daryl-hall-sues-john-oates/Tammy Faye Bakker musical: https://www.nytimes.com/2023/11/17/theater/tammy-faye-bakker-musical-broadway.htmlWhy women aren't having babies: https://womensagenda.com.au/latest/eds-blog/worried-about-australias-birthrate-address-the-cost-for-women/Andre 3000's ambient flute album: https://open.spotify.com/album/33Ek6daAL3oXyQIV1uoItD?si=lF8wpgs1QAC89tNsJNQFhwAndre on why: https://www.tiktok.com/@pigsandplans/video/7302111551656316206?_r=1&_t=8hZ3pk9Zk9fBjork & Rosalia: https://variety.com/2023/music/news/bjork-duet-rosalia-oral-salmon-fishing-1235804178/Saltburn: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lALMdJf6UUE&ab_channel=MGMDumb Money: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bmr8YmwnZ3w&ab_channel=SonyPicturesEntertainmentBang Back to us: bangon.podcast@abc.net.auBang On is an ABC podcast, produced by Double J. The FIFA Women's World Cup kicks off tonight, with the Matildas playing Ireland in Sydney. The 83,500-capacity Stadium Australia is completely sold out, making it one of the biggest crowds in the history of women's football. But, as the game's popularity explodes and the players cement themselves as household names, the Matildas are still fighting for basic rights – like equal pay. Today, writer and Matildas fanatic Sarah Krasnostein on the Women's World Cup – and the impact the Tillies will have on Australian sport.  Socials: Stay in touch with us on Twitter and Instagram Guest: Writer, Sarah Krasnostein
