Rihanna - This is what you came for https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aFlZtE1dNQY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kOkQ4T5WO9E (Vidéo officiel) Chris, jeune étudiant en médecine, doit passer une entrevue d'embauche. This week’s episode features an industry executive who is Apple Music’s first Global Senior Director of Music Publishing. She leads a team that cultivates and fosters relationships with music publishers and songwriters, ensuring licensing, payments, and creative solutions are readily available and handled appropriately. Our guest began her career in the entertainment industry as a barrister in the U.K. and then an entertainment litigation attorney at Mitchell, Silberberg & Knupp in Los Angeles, CA. She was appointed to her post at Apple in 2018 when she hung up her barrister’s wig and transitioned from the legal side of the entertainment industry to the business. In her more than 14 years at Apple, she has been intimately involved in the expansion of iTunes to countless countries around the world, the launch of Apple Music in more than 100 countries on one day (including being responsible for licensing of all publishing rights for the service outside the US), and played a key role in all 10 editions of the iTunes Festival (the Apple Music Festival in its latter years). Over this time she has become very well-acquainted with the music publishing landscape, and the music publisher and collection society community around the world, having been in the thick of numerous shifts in the music publishing landscape since 2007. The creation of music, and the ecosystem and industry that nurtures that, is her passion. Captain Mike is back, cadets, and just in time to help us cover a ton of news. We start off with some PSAs for how to help the hurricane victims as well as a reminder that -- contrary to internet myth -- the Zello walkie-talkie is not an actual walkie-talking; it needs internet connectivity. Mike anc Charles also get into the Apple vs. Qualcomm mess, the Equifax hack and the company's subsequent PR stumbles, Disney's takebacks of its movies, Apple bids on Bond, Spotify bullying, no more Apple Music Festival (what?! why?!), Apple's surprising success in China, and using the Apple Watch to cheat at sportsball. All this and an update on William's Apple Watch, and of course more. Please note that your trusty Space Javelin crew will be recording a special mid-week episode, out on Wednesday, that will go over what Apple announced at their special event from the Steve Jobs Theater at Apple Park. So much discovery we can't fit in all into our regular episodes, cadets, so be sure to subscribe or stream from Soundcloud or iTunes to be sure you get all our mission details. Stand by for adventure!
We had the second half of the fandom episode all laid out but as usual, One Direction had other plans. This week we talk about 1D’s new song Infinity, Made in the A.M. and the Apple Music Festival! On this week’s episode– - Harry wears an incredible suit and SHOCKS and STUNS the world! Or at least us. - One Direction headlined the Apple Music festival! - The boys had a great interview with Beats 1 radio -- they talked about the new album, who cried while writing songs, and which one of them would be fit to be a hand model. - Our main discussion is about Infinity! We talk about our initial reactions, what we think of it compared to Drag Me Down and we do a lyric analysis. - We finally get to our feedback after a few weeks! - A listener named Caitlin wrote in about a podcast called "Switched on Pop.” They did an episode where they analyze a few One Direction songs! Check talkdirection.tumblr.com for the link! - A listener linked us to a periscope from the Believe in Magic Cinderella Ball Charity event from earlier this year! This week’s recommendations— QUESTION OF THE WEEK: What are your thoughts on Infinity? You can get in touch with us by: // sending us your thoughts in our ask box at talkdirection.tumblr.com // tweeting us at @talk_direction // emailing us at talkdirection@gmail.com Also – feel free to send us any thoughts on things we talked about on the show or topics you’d like to hear us discuss! Please rate and subscribe to us on iTunes, we’re trying to make our moms proud. Thank you so much for listening! Intro music by: www.bensound.com
On this week’s episode we talk about 1D taking a break, the twitter spat between Calvin Harris and Zayn and the Drag Me Down music video! On this episode– - Zayn and Calvin Harris had a bit of a disagreement over music streaming services and since it’s the modern age, the whole thing happened in public and we all got to witness it. Technology is weird. - Liam, seemingly accidentally, made a heteronormative comment on stage the other night. We talk about it. - The boys are headlining the Apple Music Festival and the livestream is free! So much good packed in one tiny sentence. - The #NiallGetASnapchat campaign that’s going on currently in the twittersphere is a worthwhile one to get behind. Imagine the selfies he’d share! One Direction didn’t win Choice Selfie Takers at the TCA’s for nothing. - The Sun posted an article about the boys taking a (well-deserved) break next year. We discuss how it’s a bit sad but definitely necessary. - The Drag Me Down music video was released! Here’s a link to the video if you haven’t seen it yet! We talk about their outfits, the crouch-and-run thing the boys’ seem to love, and how we wish aliens would have been featured. #ROBOTALMIGHTY - We do another round of “1D as…” This time we’re thinking up what the boys would be as things found in the kitchen as well as which social media platforms they’d be. QUESTION OF THE WEEK: Please write in for our fandom episode! Feel free to write in about anything– friends you’ve made, fan fiction, fan art, fan projects, favorite fandom inside jokes, etc!
