While reading Deborah Levy’s novel THE MAN WHO SAW EVERYTHING and her recent “working autobiography” THE COST OF LIVING I often found myself pausing and kind of sinking into a passage I’d just read. Going back and rereading it not because my attention had wandered nor exactly to unpack an idea but because I felt the need to experience it over again. To have it happen to me.  Levy started her career writing plays that have been staged by the Royal Shakespeare Company and broadcast by the BBC. She is the author of multiple novels, several of which have been Man Booker Prize finalists, the short story collection Black Vodka, and two of the aforementioned “working autobiographies”.  The two books of hers I’ve read are packed with ideas, but like great theater, they treat ideas as verbs. They’re thought in action. In a sense they defy you to talk about them. But let's try to, anyway. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Small Biz Matters – a half hour program each week where you can work ON your business rather than IN it.with Alexi Boyd from Boyd Office Management ServicesDate: 23 July 2019 Inventory control and management can be one of the biggest headaches for a huge number of businesses out there; particularly emerging ones. Knowing how much you have of each component or ingredient, its location and its age is absolutely essential when each of these building blocks are your bread and butter. Plus a change to any product component or staff or storage - even when it does means positive growth can sometimes create more turmoil than it is worth. But small businesses all know change IS necessary for success and as our guest this coming week will explain it can, without the right tools in your arsenal, break your business. Here to share his experience is Rhys Roberts, the founder of Cloudsolve here to share his wealth of experience with businesses of all sizes with inventory management. Please be aware the stories, theories, re-enactments and language in this podcast are of an adult nature and can be disturbing, frightening and in some cases offensive. Listener Discretion is advised – there is very adult content ahead and you have been warned. Welcome heathens welcome to the world of the weird and unexplained. I’m your host, Nicole Delacroix and together, we will be investigating stories about the weird, wonderful, unexplained, eerie, scary and down-right unbelievable. There will be tales of ghosts, murder, supernatural beings and unexplained mysteries. So, sit back, grab your favorite drink, relax and prepare to be transported to today's dark Enigma.... And on today’s Dark enigma we’re going to be exploring a different type of story. This one is dark and full of terrors, but we’ll get to that in a moment. Today we’re going to be talking about the phenomenon known as the black eyed children. Some of you may have heard the tale, some of you may not, either way, we’re going to be jumping in head first, but before we do, we have some business to address. That’s right heathens, time for the drinking game but again, only for those of you that are at home and have nowhere else to go tonight. This time, I went simple. Anything with Black Vodka, and I did include a link for a black magic martini that is totally yummy. But much like todays topic they are super delicious and extra creepy. Now for the game part… every time I say Black Eyed will be a single shot and every time I say psychic, that’s a double shot. Now that we have the business end out of the way we can jump headfirst into today’s dark enigma… Imagine sitting in your living room, relaxing, drink in hand, maybe watching television or maybe just reading a book. Your eyes feel heavy and you begin to doze off, the strain of the day slowly fading away as your eyes close. Suddenly, a loud knock on the front door brings you back to full attention. It’s so late, you think to yourself. Who could it possibly be? (someone insert the Men At Work song) You make way to the door and peer out. You see a dark silhouette of a small figure. You open the door, thinking it’s a child. You are right. But what you notice next makes this anything but a normal encounter with an adolescent.
