AFTERBURN:Some of the topics covered are:• We are to be friendly, but not participate• Yeshua puts Peter (Kepha) back in his place• It takes humility to realize when you're wrong• The end result is at issue• Willie Wonka's Golden Ticket?• Pineḥas and peace• How do I know what my plank is, and how do I fix it?… and much more!Afterburn: also known in the world of fitness as the “afterburn effect”, simply put; The more intense the exercise, the more oxygen your body consumes afterward. The same could be true as you build up your spiritual self. After an intense teaching session, you need answers as more thoughts and questions consume you in your spiritual growth.Rabbi Steve Berkson, director of MTOI, provides an opportunity for the Afterburn to take place by additional thoughts and insight about what he just taught as well as answering questions from the local congregation and those watching the live stream.Don't miss out on new teachings every week. We all want to feel accepted and welcome in the ultrarunning community, no matter what we identify as. And we all can play a part in making that a reality for everyone, especially for the queer community. In this episode, we speak with Altra Athlete Ryan Montgomery, who is a queer ultrarunner and is a huge advocate for queer inclusivity. On top of that, Ryan is also a highly accomplished athlete, securing the Golden Ticket at Javelina Jundred in 2021, completing it in 13:33. Ryan is on a mission to build incredible communities and safe spaces for LGBTQ+ runners by hosting retreats and community events with OUT TRAILS. Most recently, Ryan held a retreat in the Mt. St Helens area for the queer trail running community which was a massive hit. Ryan had a challenging 2022 as he dealt with plantar fasciitis and got into a scary car accident that sidelined him for a bit. But, he's currently on the mend and back to running, looking for his next big goal ahead. In this episode, Ryan discusses how we can all play a part in creating inclusivity for the queer community, how he was able to bounce back from injuries, and how he's been able to be such a multi-faced athlete when it comes to succeeding in different types of ultras. Huge thank you to Ryan for this episode! Association. It is one of the overlooked things in VO for those just getting in because you don't know what you don't know. Who's real, who's a scammer? Who just got a GOLDEN TICKET and what is happening??? I feel smart association pays off... I have watched it happen over the past year and tried to learn what I need to do and make sure I am not seen the WRONG WAY!
Keely, Corrine, and Hillary sit down with Riley Brady, an ultrarunner who has been running ultras for almost a decade. Most recently Riley was 2nd at the Javelina Jundred securing their golden ticket for the Western States 100 in June. We talk to Riley about how our sport and community can be more inclusive to athletes of all gender identities when sport is historically a binary system. It's the ultimate celebration episode, full of fun training and life talk! We started with a joyful reflection about navigating through the dark forests in life, and how the path that starts out broken and sad can evolve in ways you never imagine (like with a FREAKING BABY). Then we hit on a bunch of running and life topics: why steady/moderate running is often overlooked in training plans, how to execute moderate running in a base period and all year, Adam PeterGOD winning the World Championships, what Courtney Dauwalter has been up to since our interview on episode 123, and exciting new data and an upcoming study on wrist-based heart rate. The most important part of the episode is a discussion of leading with love and openness in the running community by providing affirmation to non-binary athletes, highlighting Riley Brady winning a Golden Ticket to Western States at the Javelina 100. When is the last time you had a conversation with a stranger in line for the bathroom? When is the last time you asked the person five years ahead of you how to take the first step towards your new business? When is the last time you truly talked about yourself? Life isn't about a big break, it isn't about one pivotal life changing moment, it's about the small moments that compound. Understanding who you are and how you can show up as that person every single day is a courageous act that most of us never experience. Conversations turn into a flow chart of opportunities and opportunities launch you into the next chapter of your life. We've arrived! It's the season seven finale to determine the next super mondo champion of champions! Sure, this game opens with a round based on sweaty wordplay, with round two building into a series metatextual mashup clues that combine multiple mediums. And yes, it culminates in a lightning round where the leaderboard is constantly shifting. But this is the finals, darnit, so returning champs Liz, Derek, and Matthew are all operating at a very high level, so the competition cannot be more tense. I had to stop writing this episode description to go pat myself down with a cool wet towel just from recalling how intense everything got. And I'm working from home today, so I forgot to put on Old Spice, so now the sweat has really cooked up a nasty stench in my general vicinity. And when it comes to straight up B.O., I wouldn't necessarily say that everyone loves their own brand
Huzzah! Elaine and Felicia are in person and are FINALLY tackling the board game, despite Target's attempts at sabotage. Thanks for listening! Full show notes are coming soon! In this week's episode, I got to talk with Kelley Higney, the Founder and CEO of Bug Bite Thing, a chemical-free solution that instantly alleviates the stinging, itching and swelling caused by insect bites and stings. Hearing this story was so inspiring to see the passion and personal story behind the launch of what is now a global product. We chatted about how Kelley and her family were unprepared for the mosquitoes after moving to Florida from California and how her oldest daughter, who was just six-months-old at the time, suffered terribly from mosquito bites. When none of the over-the-counter remedies worked, Kelley knew there had to be a better solution. Enter Bug Bite Thing: Kelley began to research how other countries were combating insect bites and stings when she came across a little known suction tool. And of course, the day the tool arrived, she actually got a bite walking to her mailbox. She immediately gave it a try and instantly all the itching, swelling, and pain just disappeared! The suction tool transformed the quality of life for her family and she knew she had to share it with the world! Listen in to hear more about Kelley's journey that led to her and her mother, Ellen McAlister, securing Lori Greiner's ‘Golden Ticket' on Shark Tank in 2019 and Bug Bite Thing's continued growth into the Global Market. In fact, Bug Bite Thing is now Amazon's #1 selling product for insect bite relief with over 50,000 reviews and is also available in over 30,000 retail locations across the United States, and is sold in 25 countries. In this episode you will hear: -How Kelly took Bug Bite Thing from Farmer's Markets to the Global Market -How one news story catapulted product sales -The impact of customer feedback on business growth -How Kelley and her mom prepared for their Shark Tank Debut -What life after Shark Tank has been like for the business & for Kelley and her mom -Ways Kelley has navigated massive growth while also staying a family run business -Why A Bug Bite Thing is making educating customers a priority We'd love to hear from you. It's the last of our divisional finals! Who will be the third contestant to advance to the season championship match? Will it be Rob? Or Scott? Or Liz? Or maybe a fourth contestant will crash the record, chloroform the other contestants and stroll to a leisurely, unfulfilling victory leading to record low ratings that will, in short order, doom the podcast? Only one way to find out; ask a friend who listens. Episode Notes
AEW began establishing storylines following Grand Slam, while NXT prepared for its latest rebranding as it continued building to Halloween Havoc. Host Adam Silverstein breaks down everything from the last week across both brands starting with NXT [5:30] where Ilja Dragunov inserted himself between Bron Breakker and JD McDonagh, Alba Fyre stalked Mandy Rose, Pretty Deadly shined and some rough booking decisions disappointed. Next, "The Silver King" moves to AEW [31:12] where he first breaks down Rampage: Grand Slam, including the Golden Ticket battle royal and appearances from Great Muta and Action Bronson. AEW Dynamite featured an odd double feature of Juice Robinson and Bandido challenging respective champions Jon Moxley and Chris Jericho, Saraya's abysmal attempt to start another "revolution," MJF establishing himself as a threat and Daniel Garcia remaining constipated in his breakaway from Jericho.
