Anne Flower is a pro runner for HOKA and Neversecond based in Colorado Springs, CO. In 2025, Anne exploded into the trail running conversation when she broke Ann Trason's course record at the historic Leadville 100 - a mark that stood for 31 years. In South Dakota, distance running rarely comes with a spotlight.Mikah Peters earned one anyway.The Brandon Valley senior spent years quietly building belief, never assuming he'd be the best guy on his own team, let alone a national contender. Jeffrey Epstein's non-prosecution agreement (NPA) in 2008 was nothing short of a golden ticket to freedom—a secret, backroom deal that shredded every notion of justice. Brokered by then–U.S. Attorney Alex Acosta, the agreement effectively shut down a federal investigation that had uncovered dozens of victims, some as young as fourteen. Instead of facing life in prison for trafficking minors, Epstein received an absurdly lenient sentence: eighteen months in a county jail, with work-release privileges that let him leave six days a week. The NPA not only shielded Epstein but also granted immunity to his unnamed “co-conspirators,” protecting a network of powerful individuals who may have helped facilitate or benefited from his crimes. It was a blatant perversion of justice, a deal that only someone with deep connections and untold influence could have secured.What made the NPA so egregious wasn't just its leniency—it was the secrecy surrounding it. This weekend, we stepped into the fire at the Javelina 100 Mile to chase a golden ticket back to the Western States 100. This episode is the full story of the race, which ended with a golden ticket in 2nd place (behind Will Murray's astounding course record), 27 minutes faster than last year's win.The main discussion is about why the golden ticket presentation ended with a twist. David handed the golden ticket to Canyon Woodward, who finished less than 2 minutes back in 3rd place. Canyon deserves it. Passing it to him was more special than any race. We break it all down while it's all fresh in our sleep-deprived minds.The 2025 Javelina 100 Mile might change ultrarunning forever. The times for men and women obliterated the old records, showing that the same trends we're seeing at shorter races (mostly involving high carb allowing athletes to push hard from mile 1) apply at 100 miles too.
