In this week's episode of Diving In Deep, Sara is joined by the hilarious and talented Hannah Dasher! Hannah shares what it has been like going from being signed by a major label to being an independent artist. She also discusses her hit Tiktok series "Stand By Your Pan" and how she uses social media to her advantage as an independent musician. Sara and Hannah talk about the future of country music, being a woman in the industry, and the impossible standards set for women in country music. Tune in to hear more about Hannah's journey through country music, her crazy nana, and finding her image. Listen to Unbroke: (https://ffm.to/seunbroke) About Hannah Dasher: Whether she's whipping up content for her online audience or penning her next hit, Hannah Dasher never slows down when it comes to getting where she's always planned to be. Raised in Savannah, GA, Dasher built her career from the ground up while living in a small attic apartment just off of Music Row and performing at writer's nights and local showcases. Her hustle has clearly paid off, as she now performs for audiences across the country and has opened for music legends like Bocephus, The Cadillac Three, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Her music combines her timeless, nostalgic Country twang with a fresh new sound, and with her bold lyrics and one-of-a-kind personality, Dasher is no character; she lives as she performs. She recently released her new album "The Other Damn Half" available on all platforms, and she's gearing up for her second headlining tour. Do you wanna party, Theophiloi? I sure hope so, because the Multipals series continues with another of our rowdy friends: Anne Thériault (from Ontario), who joins us to talk about her work writing about St. Dymphna and the podcast And Also Some Women, focusing on the women of the Bible. Sadly, I don't believe we get around to talking about a certain saint who called down lightning and completely wrecked some blood-thirsty seals, but to be fair, you already have a podcast for that. She also talks about her favorite episodes of this show, because look, we all need to be cheered up these days and I'm no exception. Topics of Discussion: Bilingual wordplay, going full youth pastor, French Canadian cursing that won't violate our Clean tag, go transubstantiate yourself, the bagel culture war, a bad history thing, the fruit circle of Hell. the Lady Saint Hydra, Hugh Grant's secret name, The boarders of Geel, the greater part of a skeleton, just saying -isms, most is excellent, Composite Mary-Man. Hymnal: "All My Rowdy Friends Are Coming Over Tonight" by Bocephus. Apocrypals is edited by Editorial Deacon Lucas Brown. They won the Grammy for Country Group in 1976 for their recording of "The End Is Not In Sight." That same year, they won the Cash Box Award for "Best Progressive Group." Other honors with the Aces include several ASCAP awards, as well as receiving the "Key to the City of Memphis" in 1976. He has sold over 70 million albums and won CMA Entertainer of the Year 5 times, that and a whole lot of other accolades. Hank Williams has come to be known as a person who speaks his mind. Better or worse. You might know him from the theme song for the NFL's Monday Night Football. It was based on his 1984 hit "All My Rowdy Friends Are Coming Over Tonight", it ran for decades! His daddy before him had a hard drinkin' hard livin' life and so did Hank Jr., as well as his son Hank III, let's start things off with "Family Tradition": That was my personal favorite, "Whiskey Bent And Hell Bound". And more about the "Family Tradition" that preceded that song. Shelton Hank Williams, known as Hank III, his son is now performing as the next generation Hank, Coleman Williams as simply IV. He just released his debut music this past April. And there is also Jett Williams, Hank Jr's step-sister. And Holly Williams, Hank III's half-sister, I love her 2014 song, "Waiting on June". Here is more Hank Jr with "If the South Woulda Won" off of 1988's Wild Streak: That was "A Country Boy Can Survive", one of Hank Jr's most enduring hits and a fan favorite. Bocephus as known by many and the name given to him by his daddy. Named Bocephus after Grand Ole Opry comedian Rod Brasfield's ventriloquist dummy. Hank Sr. died at a young age and when Hank Jr was only 3 years old and raised by his mother Audrey. Here is "My Name Is Bocephus": Audrey, Hank Jr's mother had him performing his daddy's hits all over the country and Hank Jr. resented being known as an impersonator of his father. He tried putting his own songs into his live sets of his daddy's songs, but the crowds were not pleased as they had come to hear Hank Williams songs. He would start changing his style and coming into his own despite the crowd reaction. Hank was almost killed in 1975, during a mountain-climbing accident in Montana, where he fell 500 feet. After taking years off and many surgeries, he returned more focused and what would become his career defining period. When he reemerged he had grown a beard and started wearing sunglasses and a Cowboy hat, this would become his signature look. Here is a song made popular again by Alan Jackson on his 1999 covers album, "Under The Influence", here is Hank doing "The Blues Man": Times are good around Austin and the Country... interest is down and the Stock Market's up; and let's pray that it stays that way. But it was during what is now known as the Great Recession that Bocephus released his last big single and I love it. I doubt I'll hear it tonight, so we will play it now, this is "Red, White & Pink-Slip Blues". --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/tiny-curations/message
Phil, Jake and Jason are joined by returning champion singer-songwriter Dave Hause to rank the questionable experiment Chris Gaines on the List of Every Damn Thing. Plus we re-rank sex!Follow Dave on Instagram (@davehause), Twitter (@hausedave) and Facebook (DaveHauseMusic). You can find his songs on Spotify & Apple Music. If you're in Europe, here's the info on Dave's upcoming Germany / Austria shows. Most dates are sold out, so get on it for the ones that aren't! If you have something to add to the list, email it to list@everydamnthing.net (or get at us on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook).SHOW NOTES: We make some references to ASMR, which stands for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response (sometimes Auto Sensory Meridian Response). It's not always, or maybe not even usually, a sex thing. Kink-shaming is something Phil's always trying not to do. “Asparagus Tarzan”(Spargeltarzan) is a German slang term of endearment / insult equivalent to “stringbean” or “beanpole” in English. Here's some etymology. The name comes from a description of famous skinny German footballer, Hans Bongartz. “Friends in Low Places” was written by Dewayne Blackwell and Earl Bud Lee. As expected, there's nothing on the internet saying that either of them didn't spend all their songwriting proceeds on taking their family to the movies. We discuss a few male celebrities with “can I speak to the manager” haircuts, including The Goo-Goo Dolls' Johnny Rzeznik, Country singer Keith Urban and Criss Angel. We go into some detail about the CD booklet pics from the album Garth Brooks in… The Life of Chris Gaines, including the one featuring his creamy hammies. The similarity between Gaines and Zoolander is uncanny but we think they're both going for the same thing. It's like how calculus was invented by Newton and Leibniz at the same time. We talk about how the rapper Spice 1 sometimes switches mid-song into a dancehall influenced persona named Reggaengsta. A good example is from Clip & the Trigga. Luke the Drifter was an alter-ego that Hank Williams used for more explicitly religious material. Here's a little poem/sermon that's maybe a little ahead of its time, "Too Many Parties and Too Many Pals". Hank Williams, Jr. was apparently given the nickname Bocephus by his father, as he rocked in the cradle. We talk a bit about Eminem's alter-ego Slim Shady. Here's a link to Feminem, who may or may not be related. Here's Chris Tucker in a recent standup special talking about Blade himself. We mention George Clooney, whose friends (aka Jason) know him as the “Cloontang”. Here's the Childish Gambino cover of Chris Gaines' “Lost in You”. We talk about the Greg Album / Cher project Allman & Woman. Greg Allman has yet to be ranked on the List of Everything but his ex-wife Cher can currently be found at #7. The Jay-Z / R. Kelly album is called Best of Both Worlds. Since most people can't go to the bar, we decided to bring the bar to you! Do you have an abundance of leftover holiday spirits? Grab a cold one, relax, and join us for this retro booze battle! To judge an episode on booze, we couldn't rely on just anyone to swing the gavel. We needed someone who could really handle their liquor! That man, Bum Wine Bob! The host of "Bumming with Bobcat" showed up with a quarter, two Colt 45s, and a great attitude! The first contestant of the week, drinking a glass of water, Drew Zakmin brings the best Booze of 1991. Representing the best booze of 1981, Marc James also brought a whiskey sipper with him. And rounding out the competition, Mancrush goes way back, and delivers the booze of 1971! Oddly enough, the guys have known Bum Wine Bob for years! So everyone was pretty jazzed about finally getting to record together. In this episode, you might actually find out what people are drinking tonight, Laurel and Hardy push the highest quality cheap beer, Zakmin assumes a spy's adolescent nephew drinks a lot, afterschool special fun with Mom, a Bocephus sticker on the rear of your 442, RCA makes a grave mistake, being sick soft gooey and cold, the man with the most onscreen kills, a dude who likes vodka, Drew and a Russian bear run a train with lots of Vodka, Mancrush drinks in the parking lot of Staples, Plenty O'Toole gets thrown out a window, a suit saves United Artists from financial ruin, Jewish wine becomes a college staple, Florida's green sports beer from Pennsylvania, odd breweries, Miller Lite gets major competition, Bobcat tells a tale, a terrible whiskey idea, a group who should never drink, the best "budget booze" with Bobcat, and what four-letter word immediately makes booze better? Do you agree with Bob's rulings? Play at home and judge for yourself! While you're at it, send your rulings to our Facebook and pick up 20 points on the Dueling Decades Leaderboard! Please don't forget to subscribe and review! Want to share some of your own 1980s & 1990s memories? Join the other thousands of people in our Facebook group and get more original nostalgic content every day! If you're into the 1960s & 1970s, join our new group! Today on the Daily Bible Podcast, we take a look at how David won the Game of Thrones by taking over all the tribes of Israel while they were having a major disagreement. Who the hell is Jeff Hornsby? This is what I asked myself about a year ago when I started following him on Facebook. Every time I logged on Facebook there was Jeff with some crazy picture or doing something cool. Shooting fully automatics weapons for gun makers Posting pics of him and his friend Hank Williams Jr Him hanging out in the middle of a herd of buffalo while wearing a fur coat with a huge fur hat with horns Hunting pythons Former host of an Animal Show like Crocodile Hunter You get the point. Since I was always wondering what this dude was doing and where he came from, I thought I would reach out to see if he would come on the show. So I reached out to him and he was more than happy to talk about his life and what he has done. If you know Jeff, then I know you will really enjoy this. If you don't know Jeff you will still really enjoy this. Jeff's family were the owners of Pet Kingdom in Fort Myers. He tells us several stories from that time where he was buddies with an Orangutan, rode in a van with a Llama, cougar, monkey and some other creatures. How he was able to leverage that into a famous TV show about animals called “-----------”. We then get to hear about his stories of randomly meeting Hank Williams Jr and how they became friends. Legit friends. Not like Facebook friends. Hung out his house several times type of friends. I'm a huge Bocephus fan so this was really cool to get some personal insight into Hank Williams Jr. Other things were talked about and I feel like Jeff and I could have talked for a lot longer but the hour will have to do for now. Thanks for coming on Jeff!! I really enjoyed it! Don't forget to subscribe if you enjoyed this or found any value in it. Thanks for Listening!

It's the penultimate episode of Ken Burns' Country Music, "Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way?" and there's way too much to talk about in the 10-year span of time. The Ryman/Opry transition, the first iteration of Pop Country, George and Tammy, the Austin scene, Waylon Jennings and the dawn of the Outlaws, Billy Joe Shaver, Hank Jr. aka Bocephus, Dolly, Emmylou and the 50-year shadow of Gram Parsons. Plus, our recommendations for listening beyond the series.
Bocephus uses a body double, old people having sex in the woods, and we rank our Big 5 ugliest celebrities. Plus an extra long Nerd Stuff with news on The Mandalorian, Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker, Spider-Man, She Hulk, Moon Knight, G.I. Joe, and much more. The Interdependency as it is now owes everything to Oxbow, the breadbasket of Shard. Oxbow was, along with Boon and Summit, one of the original three settlements, and farmers flocked from all around to stake their claim on the vast tracts of arable land surrounding the small township. In the days of the fledgling Interdependency, it fell to the farmers of Oxbow to produce all the fruits, vegetables, grains, and meats that would sustain the whole of Shard. Many flourished in this challenge, but none so much as the families of Sod, Manore, and Tillfield. As the land began to die, choked by the poison Miasma, the yield of Oxbow began to diminish. Disease whipped through the town in a seemingly unending blight. The survivors clung to what little hope they had and they made do.In spite of these hardships; the disease, the downturn, the strife, to this day, from Nomad’s Heights to Port ‘o Plenty, there is always food from Oxbow.*In today’s episode, a stop off in Oxbow digs up a past of painful memories and deep-seated blood feuds. It’s the Harvest Festival, and hometown boy DeGrasse wishes he were anywhere else. We dance with a paterfamilias, meet a rat named Bocephus, and eat entirely too much oatmeal. This week on Play By Podcast: The Interdependency Shuffle 12: An Especially Hard DayPlay By Podcast is Michael Collins (@arealwriter), Leon Barnes (@SlapKatZ), Liam Higgins(@KeepCalmKlingon), and Laura Coe (@_NotMyDivision_)Cover Art by Ariel Corrales (@arielcorrales_)
In this week's episode, we're featuring one of the most honest albums in the long career of Hank Williams, Jr.: "Habits Old & New" (1980). After a suicide attempt in 1974, a severe climbing accident in '75 and a divorce in '77 - there's little doubt that Hank Jr. did some re-evaluating. He emerged with a new musical direction. Steering away from the traditional country sounds of his famous father that had been his mainstay for the past 10+ years, Bocephus added elements of blues and southern rock and in a fourteen month period in the late 70s/early 80s, he hit his musical high point, in this reviewer's opinion. Three releases, which culminated in our feature album in 1980 brought a brutal honesty and rebellious attitude which he became known for. "Habits Old & New" pulled no punches and remains a fan favourite. Highlights include the intensely personal "All In Alabama" about his near-death trip up Ajax Peak; the cynical "The American Way" and the iconic "The Blues Man". A lot of country fans found something to relate to in this album, and you may just be able to see why.

I didn't listen to much of this one, but i think I made the sound better. Or maybe it just sounds weird in a different way, I don't know. I was working on a car until long after dark so it's pretty impressive I'm uploading this at all.

Show Notes for Episode 65: “Save Whitey” This week host Dave Bledsoe talks about White People and why they can't have nice things, not even that Jack Daniels Elvis Decanter they bought at the Swap Shop over on Route 5! We start with the White Folks across the Pond who decided they would rather burn down their entire economy than have any more Brown folks move next door, and jump right over to America where our own White Folks are starting shitter fires at the Tractor Pull. (We're WAY past dumpster fires here folks) . We give a shout out to our Sister Show on the Fast Eddies' Podcast Hut Network, “Ere, what up in yer gob yah bleedin' sod” hosted by Reggie Smythwick Jones--what up Reg! We go over little things like the Civil War, Gavin's tragic choice to try online dating, and how you are forced to break Godwin's Law when you discuss working at an Amazon distro warehouse. We ALSO provide some fairly simple solutions to the biggest problems afflicting White People in America and they do NOT require internment camps, given up their guns, or being converted to homosexuality. They DO require voting for Hillary Clinton, so I expect they will think this is equally awful. We open the show with Trumpiest Trump Supporter Who Ever Trumped, this week and close out with Bocephus telling us all it will all right if you don't go anywhere near where you might actually find a job. Hypnostate provides the music in our opening credits. The Show on Twitter The Show on Facebook The Show on Soundcloud www,whatthehellpodcast.com Learn more about your ad choices.
