For 15 years, I gave myself every excuse not to run.Wrong shoes.Wrong gear.Too tired.Too cold.My feet hurt. You name it - I said it. And I believed it.Until one morning in Crete. I'm at this beautiful outdoor gym. No water. No socks. No Netflix. A total act of God that my AirPods even connected.I hit play and on comes Lynyrd Skynyrd. “Gimme Three Steps.”I start walking. Then jogging. Then running. And I couldn't stop. I didn't stop. The cadence. The breathing. The eye of the tiger look in my eye.WOW. I felt like myself again. That strong, focused, determined version of me I didn't even realize had gone missing. And once I found her - oh, she was BACK.And it felt so. damn. good. This episode is about that moment. The one where you remember who you are. The one where something clicks and suddenly, all the excuses lose their power.Because she's not gone, she's simply waiting. Waiting for you to reclaim that part of you.And this kind of reconnection is available to anyone.Including you.If there's a version of you that's been lost…If there's a dream or habit or instinct you've been putting off…It's time to start paying attention. The signs are there. It's up to you what you do with them.

"Back in March of 1979 the movie The China Syndrome came out. Weeks later the Three Mile Island nuclear disaster occurred. Their latest album, Even in Arcadia, is now the number 1 album on Billboard 200 and that caught the attention of our good old friends at Pitchfork. This week, we're back with a good old fashioned “Review the Review.”Songs:Sleep Token - “Emergence”Sleep Token - “Past Self”Jay was pondering Theseus's Paradox on a recent drive (not really, but go with me on this) which is the thought experiment that questions the identity of an object over time when all of its parts are replaced. There are some touring bands that one could apply this question to, such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, Kansas, REO Speedwagon, Heart, and others. What do you think, is a band whose original members have all been replaced still the same band?
"Dockery Farms is said to be the place where the Delta Blues began. That is a bold statement but once you hear the research I have gathered it will be hard to argue. Robert Johnson did not sell his soul for great musical talent. He went to Dockery Farms which is still open today and welcoming visitors."

This week, we received our annual audit visit from corporate! That's right, The Chairman not only graced us with his presence, but he demanded we deliver to you this episode: “Grave Mistake: BÖC Shoulda Been Huge!!!”. One could argue that selling 24M albums would negate “Shoulda Been Huge” treatment. However, when most folks can only name 3 songs by this band, and one of them is due to an SNL skit, we think they fit the bill. This episode is rooted in our Should Have Been category; however, there is a strong case to be made that they've been largely forgotten as innovators and architects of what we know as heavy metal. We think they should be remembered as titans of hard rock and metal! This week is the seventh volume of our deep dive into the trippy and groovy beginnings of the heavy stuff! Cut your lava lamp on, gaze at that blacklight poster through the haze of smoke, and join your favorite rock n' roll grave robbers as they dig deep into the core of 70s Acid Rock n' Proto Metal crypt to unearth some obscure bands that helped influence and mold what would become known as Heavy Metal. What is it that we do here at InObscuria? Well, we exhume obscure Rock n' Punk n' Metal in one of 3 categories: the Lost, the Forgotten, or the Should Have Beens. This particular episode is planted firmly in the: LOST category, as all of these recordings occurred between 1970 – 1976. “One's a dude, right? I want the one that's NOT the dude…” DOWN III: OVER THE UNDER, the 3rd studio offering from southern fried doom lords DOWN, has a very 70's centric feel from start to finish. From the songs and the production to the album cover, OVER THE UNDER might just be the most 70's influenced and 70's sounding DOWN album ever recorded.
