In this episode of The Tone Mob Podcast, Blake Wyland is joined by Amico Demuzio—pedal steel guitarist and multi-instrumentalist for Charles Wesley Godwin's band. They dive into Amico's unexpected journey from welding school dropout to full-time touring musician, fueled by a love for lap steel, vintage Peavey amps, and weird-sounding pedals. If you're a gearhead, there's plenty to sink your teeth into: Boss Slicers, Jerry Garcia tones, Kernum pedals, amp plugins that sound freakishly real, and why the pedal steel might be the most emotionally charged instrument in modern music. They also explore the joys of analog gear, silent stages, DIY tone shaping, and whether or not Peavey amps deserve their crusty-but-beautiful comeback. Plus: cold pizza, mushroom foraging (the sober kind), and a few tips for getting started on pedal steel without throwing your back out—or your wallet. Whether you're into country, indie, Americana, or just love a good underdog story, this episode delivers music talk, gear insights, and laughs in equal measure. I love Peavey amps from the early-to-mid 1980s, because I grew up with them in my favorite music shop, Clawson's Music in Corpus Christi, TX. In my last 80s Peavey episode, I looked at the Special 130, that is a killer amp, but is heavy, way too loud for most gigs, and at times a bit non-intuitive due to the mid-shift and multiple gain controls. My buddy, Mike LoPinto, who plays with Chris Stapleton, clued me into the Studio Pro 40. It checks all of the boxes, as it is easy to carry, has plenty of volume, a full sound with an Eminence 12 inch speaker, and is pretty cheap at the current going price of $100-$200. For me, it is a great grab and go amp, and the perfect amp to take to the gig as a backup to my Headstrong Lil King, or my Fender 1965 Deluxe Reverb. Why did Eddie Van Halen leave Peavey? In this episode, we dive into the real story behind Eddie's departure from Peavey in 2004, taking the iconic 5150 amp and Wolfgang guitar with him to launch EVH with Fender. According to a new Guitar World interview with Peavey CEO Courtland Gray, Joe Satriani's endorsement deal may have played a key role in Eddie's decision to walk away. Was Eddie upset that Peavey signed another guitar legend? Did the launch of the JSX amp cause friction? We'll break down the timeline, the behind-the-scenes tensions, and how this split shaped the future of EVH gear.

God lytt!

Letting go of the busyness, was a gift Jennifer gave to herself. Her grandmother was always keeping busy as was her mom, but Jennifer wasn't happy just doing things that she didn't really want to do.My guest wanted to satisfy her interests of both the right and left sides of her brain. Becoming an engineer seemed like a logical career choice because her father was an engineer. Twenty years later, she realized she was bored and needed more. She retired and completed her Masters degree in Industrial Design. When Jennifer mentioned to her mom that she may pursue an architecture degree, her mother said "don't waste your time."Jennifer's grandfather started having heart complications when her mom was just 9 years old. Jennifer is certain this is where and when the anxiety issues started for her mother. Jennifer's grandmother was also anxious and worried about her husband's health. Both women were always ready for the next emergency. Waiting for the other shoe to drop. Anxiety and stress can easily be passed down from generation to generation. In understanding her family's serious circumstances at the time, Jennifer felt it was now time to stop the cycle of anxiety and being busy just for the sake of being busy. When intuition suggests something has to change, it's a good idea to listen to that silent voice. Jennifer took advantage of her downtime during the pandemic to reflect, plan, try new ways, analyze, stop, evaluate and try again. Her result is her book Natural Reflectors.Natural Reflectors: Moving From Burnout to Engagement by Phasing Reflection into Actions (Natural Reflectors Series Book 1)Amazon Link: Natural Reflectorshttps://www.amazon.com/Natural-Reflectors-Burnout-Engagement-Reflection-ebook/dp/B09DFNLLDWThe World Health Organization names stress as the health epidemic of the 21st Century. Slowing down not only reduces stress, but produces outcomes with a greater impact.Natural Reflectors explores the idea of instilling, within our actions, a mindset of intentional reflection taken from the power of nature's cycles. You will learn how a healthy process of managing one's life has both elements of reflection and action. Find within these pages stories such as:Bill Burnett from Stanford's Design Your Life Lab explaining how we can only make good decisions when listening to both our mind and bodyStacy Levy, an environmental artist revealing the stories in nature that surround each of us, allowing us to see them, appreciate them, consider them, and maybe even learn from themCarl Honore describing how our behavior is heavily influenced by our definition of timeIf you have ever thought that there must be a better way to find meaning and purpose in your everyday life, read Natural Reflectors. If you are tired of living on autopilot, or if you are seeking a greater connection with the world around you, this book offers hope. Great balls of fire! On this VERY Hot Jazz Network Podcast, host George Cole talks with international Rockabilly star, Darrel Higham. Endorsed by Gretsch Guitars and Peavey Amps, Darrel Higham has worked with Jeff Beck, Robert Plant, Jools Holland, Imelda May, Billy Lee Riley, Rocky Burnett, and more. Listen to George and Darrel wind their way through the intersecting paths of musical interests and discuss guitars, great guitarists, and the music that makes them "tick"!ABOUT Darrel Higham: Born in Bedford, England in 1970, Higham grew up listening to the music of Elvis Presley and Eddie Cochran. Through the influence of these artists, Higham took up the guitar in his early teens and joined his first band whilst still at school. In 1992 he spent 6 months living in the USA; touring and recording with Eddie Cochran's original backing band, The Kelly Four. His first solo album was released in 1995 on Nervous Records, entitled Mobile Corrosion. Higham played lead guitar in the West End production of Elvis: The Musical in 1996. He co-wrote the first biography on his musical hero, Eddie Cochran for Mainstream Publishing in 2000. Along with solo albums and records released with his Rockabilly band, The Enforcers, throughout the 90s and 00s, Higham also played lead guitar and produced many other artists. He co-owns Embassy Studio in Hampshire and oversees a great many sessions there. In 2007, Higham started work with Stray Cats drummer, Slim Jim Phantom. Together they recorded 2 albums and toured Europe, even making an appearance on BBC's Later With Jools in 2012. In 2011 he shared the lead vocal duties with Imelda May on the Jeff Beck DVD and subsequent CD, A Rock 'n' Roll Party. He has played guitar for Robert Plant, Jools Holland, Imelda May, Sharon Shannon, Shakin' Stevens, Jeff Beck, Billy Lee Riley, Rocky Burnette, Bono, Paul McCartney, to name but a few. Darrel is endorsed by Gretsch guitars, Peavey amplifiers and TV Jones pick-ups. Being born into rock royalty doesn't make you a rock star—you've gotta earn it with your own chops. And whether it's the classical pedigree of his first name or the hard-rock infamy of his surname, Wolfgang Van Halen has a long lineage to live up to. As he displays on this episode of Shred With Shifty, he's more than up to the task. Wolf joins Shifty to teach the blistering, tap-heavy solo for his song “Take a Bow,” from 2023's Mammoth II. It follows in his dad's footsteps, sure, but it also shows Wolf has a voice and vision of his own—both of which are just as potent and theatrical as his father's. Wolf treats us to a tour of his new signature semi-hollowbody EVH model, the SA126, with details from EVH managing director Matt Bruck. But he doesn't hold out on the family jewels: Wolf shares the story of his father's iconic Frankenstein Strat and brings it on the show, with some extra dirt on his dad's journey from Marshalls to his signature Peavey 5150 amps. When Shifty asks who's stewarding his father's invaluable gear, Wolf eases our concerns: “If the world ended, they would still be okay,” he grins. Click below to subscribe to the podcast! This Saturday's "Saturday Matinee" on Vintage Classic Radio will kick off with "The Great Gildersleeve,” where the episode "Selling the Drugstore" from February 22nd, 1942, takes us on a humorous journey with Throckmorton P. Gildersleeve, a character spun off from "Fibber McGee and Molly." In this episode, Gildersleeve contemplates selling the drugstore he's come to own, leading to a series of comedic events and moral dilemmas. The cast features Harold Peary as Gildersleeve, Walter Tetley as Leroy, Lillian Randolph as Birdie, Earle Ross as Judge Hooker, and Richard LeGrand as Mr. Peavey, among others, contributing to the show's unique blend of humor and heartfelt moments. Following that, we'll enjoy "The Burns and Allen Show" in the episode "Jack Benny in the Beauty Shop," originally broadcasted on November 2nd, 1943. This episode showcases the unmatched chemistry of George Burns and Gracie Allen in a hilarious mix-up involving Jack Benny at a beauty shop, leading to a flurry of misunderstandings and witty banter. The episode stars George Burns and Gracie Allen themselves, with Jack Benny playing his own notoriously stingy persona, alongside regulars like Bill Goodwin, the announcer, and musicians like Meredith Willson. To round out our matinee, "The Railroad Hour" presents the musical episode “Orange Blossoms” from February 11th, 1952. This production is a delightful adaptation of the operetta by Victor Herbert, telling a romantic and slightly comedic tale set against the backdrop of the French Riviera. The episode stars Gordon MacRae, bringing his vocal talents to the fore as the lead, with support from Lucille Norman, adding charm and depth to the musical numbers and narrative. Each show from our lineup offers a unique glimpse into the golden age of radio, from the comedic antics of beloved characters in "The Great Gildersleeve" and "The Burns and Allen Show" to the melodious romance of "The Railroad Hour." Together, they create a Saturday matinee that promises laughter, music, and a touch of nostalgia.

Chasing Tone - Guitar Podcast About Gear, Effects, Amps and Tone
Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast!Blake has an anecdote about the Dave Matthews band which he shares with the guys while Richard talks about Threads and an advert that uses the same piece of stock music as this show does. Brian recalls the time he met Hartley Peavey, Blake worries about the provenance of his hat, and Richard talks about the new Jake. E. Lee signature amp from Dave Friedman which he very much loves. How do you set the whammy bar up on your 'Strat? Richard asks the question because he saw a great tip on the interwebs and wants to share it with the listeners, but has to struggle agains certain negative attitudes towards said instrument. Meanwhile, Brian rants in silence while the guys hurl insults at him. The guys then look at the myth of the backplate and whether it is acoustically or electrically significant and Richard is getting into DIY pedals. Brian give his some helpful tips on soldering and breadboarding and general DIY advice. Let's see how much Richard listens to him... Would you rather have a really rubbish amp or a really rubbish guitar? The guys chat about this and about how important the right cab can be while Brian struggles to think of a name for a Wah pedal. Again. Brian also confesses he has a collection of domains and this baffles Richard, who has fallen in love with a new Jazzmaster guitar and is also thinking about the Tone-X pedal. Origin has released a new Klon clone and Brian tells us a bit about the history of the Tumnus Deluxe before he and Richard drop some huge hints about a new release. Peavey on the Teevee, Mon Chat, Ear protection, Steve Lukather, Megadeth disappointment, Steve Martin, Mustard crimes...it's all in this week's Chasing Tone!We are on Patreon now too!Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/chasingtonepodcast)Awesome Merch and DIY mods:https://modyourownpedal.com/collections/booksFind us at:https://www.wamplerpedals.com/https://www.instagram.com/WamplerPedals/https://www.facebook.com/groups/wamplerfanpage/Youtube:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdVrg4Wl3vjIxonABn6RfWwContact us at: podcast@wamplerpedals.com-Support the show
