He broke the sound barrier with two broken ribs and a broom handle jammed into the cockpit of an experimental jet. Chuck Yeager wasn't just the first man to fly faster than Mach 1—he was the embodiment of American grit, guts, and go-for-broke test pilot bravado. In today's episode, Ben and guest Brandon Fibbs dive into the wild life of a World War II ace who dogfought Nazis, cheated death more times than he could count, and then strapped himself into rocket-powered death traps just to see what they could do. Before astronauts were heroes, Chuck Yeager was already a legend.
Saddle up with Ben and guest Brandon Fibbs for the untold story of Bass Reeves, the most fearless lawman the Wild West ever saw. In today's episode, we follow Reeves as he tracks down over 3,000 outlaws, armed with nothing but grit, a badge, and a sharp shot. A former slave turned U.S. Marshal, Reeves rewrote the rules of justice with his relentless pursuit of criminals—whether riding through storms, swapping disguises, or staring down gunslingers. Get ready for a wild ride through the legend of the man who brought order to chaos and became one of the greatest lawmen in American history.
In today's episode, Ben is joined by Brandon Fibbs to tell the story of Eugene James Bullard, an unsung American war hero who was one of the first African American Military Pilots who flew for France in WWI, and then fought the Germans again in WWII.
You've seen TV shows like Masters of Air and movies like Memphis Belle. Incredible stories of American boys fighting Nazis for dominance of the skies in WWII. But what you haven't heard of is the Soviet 588th Night Bomber Regiment... an all women bomber squadron that flew under the cover of darkness in bare-bones plywood biplanes that dropped more than 23,000 tons of bombs on Nazi targets. Join Ben Thompson and Brandon Fibbs in today's episode to hear more!

Brandon Fibbs' search for truth resulted in him leaving behind his family's deep christian roots and becoming an atheist. Brandon is now a producer in LA, but he grew up in the heart of Evangelical Christianity. It was fascinating to hear how things like the military, gun control, politics, 9/11, homosexuality, and NASA all played a role in his shift in faith. Most importantly, however, Brandon loves Battlestar Galactica, as do we. It was such a pleasure to talk to Brandon, and we could have talked for so much longer. Enjoy! This week I speak with documentary film producer, science enthusiast, and friend, Brandon Fibbs. Brandon was raised in a fundamentalist Christian home but as he entered adulthood, questions haunted him. We talk about his friendship with Neil deGrasse Tyson, his deconversion, his sense of wonder at his place in the universe and how awe replaced faith in his life. We also talk about his work on the 2014 reboot of Cosmos and the brand new 6-part series, "The Story of God with Morgan Freeman," which airs on Sunday, April 3.Learn about "The Story of God with Morgan Freeman" at http://channel.nationalgeographic.com/the-story-of-god-with-morgan-freeman/Visit Brandon's YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/user/Fibbs1701/featuredRead Brandon's article, "Carl Sagan Took My Faith — and Gave Me Awe," at http://www.faithstreet.com/onfaith/2014/03/10/carl-sagan-took-my-faith-and-gave-me-awe/31220Learn more about Life After God at www.lifeaftergod.org

Plus, we'll have film news and reviews, including Star Trek Into Darkness, on the latest episode of Keeping It Reel with FilmGordon
The Star Trek TV and movie series imagine a bright future for humans in space, one in which we explore alien worlds with the aid of advanced technology. Because the writers tried to include as much realistic science as possible within the fictional framework, the stories have been an inspiration for students, scientists, inventors; and anyone interested in pondering our destiny on Earth and beyond. In this show, Brandon Fibbs reviews the latest Star Trek movie now in theaters, and Lawrence Krauss talks about how Star Trek uses science to explore what is possible in our universe.
