From Turkeys to Bears: Wild Adventures with Keith Beasley | 100% Wild Podcast Ep.425 On this episode of the 100% Wild Podcast, we've got Keith Beasley from Canada dropping in to talk bears, beats, Battlestar Galactica—okay, just bears and a bit of turkey drama. We're diving into spring bear hunting, our less-than-stellar turkey season, and why chasing predators in the wild is such a rush. Expect some goofy Mambo No. 5 tangents, Tim's tale of nearly totaling his car, and Matt overthinking bear baiting. Keith shares real-deal tips on hunting Ontario's backcountry, cooking bear meat so it's actually edible, and why bowhunters need to try this. Oh, and we geek out over a kid's turkey hunt video that's blowing up—until the internet trolls roll in. Here's the rundown: How to hunt bears in Canada without looking like a rookie Turkey season stories that prove we're not experts Making bear meat taste good (no, really) Navigating Ontario's massive wilderness Random debates about hunting and other nonsense Join the Rack Pack Facebook Group : https://www.facebook.com/share/g/n73gskJT7BfB2Ngc/ Get ahead of your Game with DeerCast available on iOS and Android devices App Store: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/deercast/id1425879996 Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.druryoutdoors.deercast.app Don't forget to stock up for your next hunt! 1st Phorm has you covered! Happy Tuesday! If you are a true Star Trek fan like I am, then this week's episode is for you. I am talking with my friends Sam Witwer and David Collins about their beautiful and controversial new Star Trek film, 765874 Unification. If you love Star Trek and haven't heard about this project, go check it out before you listen to this week's episode! Using incredible cutting-edge technology, the film features Spock and Captain Kirk (yes, the originals!) only Kirk is played by Sam. Don't believe me? Watch the film, it will blow your mind. I've known Sam going back to when he played Crashdown on Battlestar Galactica. He has also done voice work for Star Wars: Unleashed and Star Wars: The Clone Wars. David Collins is a prolific sound designer, including for all things Star Wars, from The Mandalorian to Skeleton Crew. I had such a blast nerding out with these guys and I think you will too! Stick around for the hindsight, where my producer Jeph talk about the episode and get into the ethics of using AI to enhance an actor's performance. It's a great conversation! Pathetic Earthlings, who can save you now?Well, there might be one guy...Flash Gordon has been on our screens for almost 90 years, and the story of the dashing all-American hero, his companions, and his battles against Ming the Merciless laid the groundwork for modern sci-fi, influencing everything from Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek and Doctor Who.From his humble comic strip roots, Flash's adventures were perfect for a modern film adaptation, and legendary film mogul Dino De Laurentiis was adamant he knew what he wanted for his Flash Gordon; a visual feast, a lavish production, a playful tone and his friend Danilo Donati as the production and costume designer. From its colourful costumes to its campy dialogue, Flash Gordon is a spectacle that has transcended time, and cinema owes Flash a huge debt of gratitude, but it was not an easy movie to make. Its original director Nicolas Roeg ended up leaving after a year, and Mike Hodges stepped up, but with very little control over what you see on screen. Queen's iconic soundtrack for Flash Gordon was groundbreaking, blending rock music with film scoring in a way that had never been done before. Flash Gordon remains a cult classic, influencing generations of filmmakers and fans, and continues to be celebrated for its unique charm and creativity. Despite the issues behind the scenes, and the behaviour of their leading man, Flash Gordon has an undeniable charm that has kept it alive in the hearts of fans worldwide. It alive? Sorry, I meant... GORDON'S ALIVE!I would love to hear your thoughts on Flash Gordon (1980) !Verbal Diorama is now an award-winning podcast! Send us a textThis week on The Wall Street Skinny, we're diving headfirst into one of the most volatile weeks in recent memory—and we brought backup. After a whiplash-inducing reversal in the bond and equity markets, Jen and Kristen break down how the tariff announcements are rippling through rates, treasury auctions, and investor sentiment. From the Fed's shrinking balance sheet to the rising fear that the U.S. may be losing its “flight to quality” status, we unpack what's really happening beneath the headlines—and why the bond market might be the biggest canary in the coal mine. Then, we're joined by legendary investor Steve Eisman—yes, the Steve Eisman portrayed by Steve Carell in The Big Short—for a candid conversation about the state of the global economy, what everyone's missing in this moment of policy upheaval, and why he's not panicking. We get his take on the implications of Trump's tariffs, the fate of the U.S. dollar, and what it would actually take for the Fed to step in meaningfully. Steve also shares how he spotted the subprime crisis before anyone else, and why he's still staying cool in today's environment of uncertainty and anxiety.Whether you're an investor trying to make sense of the macro crosswinds or a Wall Street hopeful wondering how the system reacts in real time, this episode is packed with hard-earned perspective, market wisdom, and—yes—a few deep cuts from Battlestar Galactica. Stay tuned to hear how Steve really feels about being played by Steve Carell, and why sometimes the best strategy is to zoom out, shut off CNBC, and not sell your soul to the volatility gods.Sign up for our Talent Accelerator HERE today! The first reviews for Snow White have finally dropped! On today's Kristian Karloff Show, Kristian breaks down what the critics are saying about Disney's latest live action remake. Is the Disney Snow White reboot, starring Rachel Zegler Snow White and Gal Gadot Snow White, a fresh take on this classic Disney fairy tale or just another swing and miss for Disney princesses? We dive into early reactions, what's being said about Rachel Zegler's performance (including those Rachel Zegler weird comments that sparked debate), and whether Gal Gadot brings the iconic Evil Queen to life. Plus, how's the Snow White chat music and what are folks saying about the dwarves? Kristian has you covered! We also talk about the Snow White trailer and how this Snow White live action remake is being received by critics—and if you should be excited (or worried). Whether you're a die-hard Disney fan or just curious about the latest remake, this breakdown covers everything you need to know. PLUS, there's big news on James Gunn's Superman! According to The InSneider, the current cut of Gunn's Superman has a runtime of 140 minutes (2 hours and 20 minutes). With four months to go before its July 11th, 2025 release and some additional filming happening in Ohio, things could still change. The cast is stacked, including Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult, Nathan Fillion, Isabela Merced, and more! AND if that wasn't enough, we've got confirmation that Amazon Prime Video's God of War series has officially scored a two-season order! Peabody-winning writer and showrunner Ronald D. Moore (of Battlestar Galactica and Outlander fame) confirmed the news while chatting with Katee Sackhoff on her podcast, The Sackhoff Show. Moore revealed he's currently deep in the writer's room and steering the series in a new direction after taking over from the original creative team. No word yet on when it'll start production, but this is one we'll be keeping a close eye on! Happy Tuesday Everyone! Last week's episode with Battlestar Galactica creator Ron Moore was such a doozy, we had to call in re-enforcements to discuss it. And who better than my Battlestar Bestie Tricia Helfer? You know Tricia from her role as Number Six. She also played Charlotte Richards/Goddess on Lucifer and voiced Sarah Kerrigan in StarCraft II, among many other roles. I love any excuse to get together with Tricia and it was such a blast to do a deep dive into Ron's interview (Sorry, Ron— we're not over it!). We talk about how Ron built a collaborative set on Battlestar, getting booed at our first Comic-Con, the moment Tricia switched from dying her real hair to wearing a wig as Number Six, and so much more! Plus, Tricia and I brainstorm projects for our reunion— Cagney and Lacey, anyone?
Dan Schkade is a terrific artist/writer who is currently drawing the Flash Gordon daily strip for King Features. He's also written and drawn a lot of other cool stuff including The Spirit, Battlestar Galactica, Impossible Jones, and his creator-owned titles; Saint John and Lavender Jack. But what you need to know most it's pronounced "SHKah - dee." Like Scotty. Like the dog. Or the Chief Engineer.
Celluloid Heroes: Episode 3Film: Battlestar Galactica1978. Vancouver, British Columbia. Summer has long meant one thing: great popcorn movies. And in the summer of 1978 a still Star Wars-crazed Brad Abraham saw - in the movie theater - what would become a short-lived obsession as he and children his age anxiously awaited the arrival of The Empire Strikes Back in 1980. This is the story of Battlestar Galactica: Saga of a Star World.Follow Celluloid Heroes on INSTAGRAM https://www.instagram.com/TheCelluloidHeroesPodFollow Brad Abraham at www.bradabraham.comShare your thoughts with us! Another filmmaker retrospect allows me to sum up former Marine-turned-marketing exec-turned hit TV producer Donald P. Bellisario. From writing on the staff of Black Sheep Squadron and the original Battlestar Galactica to creating the Magnum P.I., Quantum Leap and NCIS saga, what are some other deep cuts he was responsible for? Along the way, I also get to play some inspiring screenwriting tips-and-tricks he gives in his Television Academy interviews! Look out, everyone: This week's episode is an all-timer! We've got the one and only Ron Moore in the STUDIO. I am still so intimidated by Ron and it was such an honor to sit down with him for this conversation. If you DON'T know Ron Moore, I don't even know what to say. He created Battlestar Galactica, Outlander and For All Mankind. He spent a decade writing for Star Trek, on both The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine. His mark on American sci-fi is massive and I can't believe I get to call him my friend. We talk about all things Battlestar, including a really beautiful conversation about the show's ending. We talk about how he got his start writing for Trek, what he's learned from the characters he's created and what's next on the horizon for him. I know you'll enjoy this conversation, it's one of my absolute favorites. After the interview, stick around for a tease of next week's episode— We've got something super-fun and special planned for you! Come see us live in Indiana!
