Those NXT call-ups weren't just for Christmas (Raw), they were for life (Smackdown)! But where they better than they were on Raw? PWTorch editor Wade Keller presents the Thursday Flagship edition of the Wade Keller Pro Wrestling Podcast with guest cohost Todd Martin from the PWTorch VIP Podcast "The Fix with Todd Martin." They discuss Raw including Todd trying to talk Wade into being more on board and at peace with Daniel Bryan's anti-consumerism/pro-environment heel character, the strength of the Ronda Rousey-Natalya match, Vince McMahon's discomfiting on-air performances, Andrade Cien Almas's lack of push, Mustafa Ali's considerable push and whether it's worth the investment, and much more. Then Todd's thoughts on the latest NXT TV show including the crowd reaction to Aleister Black lately. And then the Jon Jones-UFC 232 USADA mess, how it has affected Todd's own travels, and whom he thinks is most to blame for all of this. He also makes his picks for the fights on Saturday night's card in Las Vegas... I mean, Los Angeles.
Merry Christmas! This week Alex and Patrick review the last televised WWF event to ever take place from Chattanooga, TN as we look back at the Christmas edition of Raw from 2000. The show featured a lot of great talent in not-so-great matches. In this week's news section we cover yet another "new era" for the WWE, iMPACT and WOW getting their new tv deals, and Alex gives up on Dean Ambrose. Enjoy! Review starts around the 46:00 mark. The Importance of Seeing Ernest Bonus: Ernest Saves Christmas....Raw & Uncut It's time to enjoy the raw audio that was used to make our Ernest Saves Christmas episode. Hear the show without the edits, sound bites, and trimming of the fat. Enjoy extra long ramblings, off topic conversation, and Derek leaving the room to get more alcohol. Consider this a peak behind OUR denim curtain. Three friends decided to embark on a journey that will take them to fond reminders of childhood, as well as some new content they've never watched before. They will be sitting down together, watching every Ernest program in chronological order, and then recording a podcast about each show. From local commercials, to Ernest in the Army, of one, that is. This is The Importance of Seeing Ernest, the comprehensive and encyclopedic compendium of all things Ernest. This is good film making, Vern. Feel free to follow along with us by becoming a Vernonite. It's the last episode of 2017. And I'm going out with a blast baby! After I first recap the Christmas Raw. I had a busy week with family in town, it being the holidays and going to a TrailBlazer game. I didn't get to SmackDown or New Japan this week but don't worry next week is gonna have a ton of both. The main course of tonight's entree is the first annual Webby Awards. It's a year end recap of the best and the worst of 2017. I had a ton of fun coming up with the winners of the first annual Webbys and I hope you have fun listening to it. Let me know if you agree with the winners by sending your questions, comments and concerns to weeklywrestlingwrant@gmail.com and follow me on Twitter @webconn69.
