This week on Tales from the Attitude Era, former WWF writer Tommy Blacha and co-host Rob Pasbani head to St. Louis to recap the June 12, 2000, episode of RAW is WAR! After a brief break, A Work In Progress is back for the new year, continuing our journey through the final days of WCW. This week's episode opens on a somber note as we share some sad news with our listeners before turning our attention to WCW Souled Out from January 16, 2000.On the card, Billy Kidman goes one-on-one with Dean Malenko, Vampiro faces David Flair and Crowbar in a handicap match, The Mamalukes take on the Harris Brothers, and—yes, this actually happened—Oklahoma challenges Madusa for the Cruiserweight Championship. It's WCW in 2000, and it's every bit as chaotic as you'd expect. All of this and much more on this week's episode of AWIPOD.Additionally, as we prepare for the Glenn Abbott Memorial Rumble on Saturday, January 17, we invite anyone who knew Glenn to send in a written, audio, or video message to awipodwrestling@gmail.com. Your messages will be shared during the tribute show as we honor a friend who will never be forgotten.RIP Glenn Abbott — deeply missed by all who knew him.

With This Ring #75: Armageddon  Cindy and Ryan are back again to wrap up the year 2000. In this episode we cover the quick turnaround from Survivor Series to Armageddon and the very half-hazard build to the main event, which seems to be just put the big 3 matches from last month into one big match this week. Does it work? We'll discuss all this and more: We start with the re-emergence of Vince McMahon and him demanding a divorce from Linda and the Rock making fun of all his opponents. We discuss the new direction for Dean Malenko and his infatuation with Lita. William Regal making fun of Alabama. Chris Jericho continues his feud with Kane. We see the end of the title reigns of both the RTC and Billy Gunn, marking the end of Billy as any serious type of single's threat. The APA is back, hooray! The 6 Way living up to its hype and how much can 1 match carry a show? Christmas Raw, with an Angle Family Christmas. Stone Cold feuding with Stephanie and getting a World title match. Vince McMahon and a budding relationship with Trish Stratus. All this and much more. Enjoy!

With This Ring #67: Backlash 2000   Ryan and Cindy start the next WWF season much the same way we finished the old one, with the Rock feuding with Triple H and the McMahons. In this edition we go to Backlash, which had 5 singles matches, none of which were Terri vs. The Kat, putting it a tick above WrestleMania from the get go. Among the topics discussed: The start of the Vince Russo/Eric Bischoff tenure in WCW, and how that led to Mike Awesome, WCW wrestler, defending the ECW title against Tazz, WWF wrestler and how that was displayed on WWF TV. Chris Jericho's brief earliest WWF title run.  The promise of Stone Cold Steve Austin.  The chemistry between Eddie Guerrero and his Mamacita.  We again talk about how misplaced X-Pac and Road Dogg are in the tag division.  Dean Malenko and Scotty Too Hotty having a notable Light Heavyweight Title match. SHOWESTER MANIA RUNNING WILD BROTHER! The Rock and Triple H having their usual Sports Enterainment Spectacular in a match that seemed more WrestleMania main event than the WrestleMania main event.    All this and much more. Enjoy!

Dave Penzer got his start in the wrestling business at Global Wrestling Alliance in South Florida first learning from Dean Malenko's father, Larry, and Bob Roop. He talks about his job finding and driving enhancement talent to matches, and how that inadvertently landed him at WCW. Penzer shares stories about his WCW days traveling with Jericho, Arn Anderson, Eddie Guerrero, Chris Benoit, and Chavo Guerrero Jr. including the big Arn Anderson and Eddie Guerrero fight over an apple pie, and the time Jericho stripped Dave Penzer of his clothes in a hotel bar & the footage ended up on the tabloid TV shows, Hard Copy & Inside Edition. He remembers what happened at a house show in Minnesota when Eric Bischoff overheard a conversation between Penzer and Jericho, and the night in Tupelo, Mississippi with Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, Sting, and Randy Savage and the failed music cue. He talks about Vince Russo's detrimental impact on WCW, when Penzer knew the WCW ship was sinking, what that very last Nitro show was like for him, and the conversations he had with WWE after they bought WCW. Plus, he has a few tales about his initial TNA run, his return to Impact during the pandemic, and passing the TNA ring announcing mic to Jade Chung last December.
