Katherine Grace McNamara is an American actress, known for playing Clary Fray on the 2016–2019 supernatural drama television series Shadowhunters, and Mia Smoak in the superhero series Arrow. She has also starred as Julie Lawry in the post-apocalyptic miniseries The Stand.

On this episode of the Geektown Behind The Scenes podcast, I am chatting with actress Katherine McNamara about her new film 'Untitled Horror Movie'.Katherine, you will probably know as Mia from The CW series 'Arrow', Clary Fray on the supernatural drama 'Shadowhunters', or Sonya in the 'Maze Runner' films. More recently she has appeared in the CBS adaptation of Stephen King's 'The Stand', and now re-teams with her 'Shadowhunters' castmate Luke Baines in the wonderfully fun 'Untitled Horror Movie'.'Untitled Horror Movie' is described as a comedy about making a horror movie by Nick Simon, the director who brought you, 2017 film 'Truth or Dare'. When six co-stars learn their hit TV show is about to be cancelled, they decide to shoot their own movie - after all, how hard can it be? Stuck for a plot, they unintentionally summon a demonic spirit with an affinity for violence that starts picking them off, one vapid actor at a time.The film stars Luke Baines and Katherine McNamara from 'Shadowhunters', Claire Holt ('Vampire Diaries'), Emmy Raver-Lampman ('The Umbrella Academy'), Darren Barnet ('Never Have I Ever') and Tim Granaderos ('13 Reasons Why') as the main six.There are also a few other familiar faces who pop up too including Kal Penn ('House', ' Designated Survivor'), Aisha Tyler (' Whose Line Is It Anyway?', 'Archer'), Kevin Daniels ('Why Women Kill', 'Council of Dads'), Lesly Kahn ('Quantum Leap'), and Sohm Kapila ('Jane The Virgin').Written by star Luke Baines & director Nick Simon, the entire movie was shot during the pandemic by the actors in their own homes, with them doing their own lighting, makeup, and stunts! Mundanes Brenna and Joe muddle their way through a three for one as they tackle Cassandra Clare’s 2007 urban fantasy novel The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, the CGI atrocity that is the 2013 film adaptation and the 2016 Freeform TV adaptation, Shadowhunters (which they declare the best version of the story). Expect A LOT of sighs, guffaws and questions as the pair address the book's generic narrative and love triangle, Clary Fray's lack of agency in the climax and the film's failures in set design, special effects and acting.
