This interview is with Gregory Theim, a longtime Oregon businessman and wine lover who grew up alongside the early Oregon wine industry. In this interview, Gregory shares stories of growing up around his father's businesses, his introduction to wine, and his experiences watching Oregon wine develop.Gregory was one of five children. In the early 1970s, he and his father opened Gregory's International, a gourmet food and wine shop at the newly developed Water Tower in Johns Landing, San Francisco. The store featured foods and specialty products from around the world, along with gourmet cheese, beer, and wine. Gregory became especially interested in Oregon wine and took wine courses at Portland State to learn more about it.Through tasting, traveling, and talking with some of Oregon's early winemakers, Gregory gained a deeper appreciation for the industry. He remembers Dick Erath in particular as both a friend and mentor during those early pioneering years.After running the grocery business with his father until 1979, Gregory went on to become a home builder and later opened a Traeger sales and supply store in Sherwood. General Manager Darren Mougey isn’t going to have an easy time putting together his 53-man Jets roster.  Several players have come from out of nowhere to make a valid case to hang around.  The defensive line and cornerback groups will be particularly difficult to work through, but we’ll give it our best guess here. https://api.spreaker.com/v2/episodes/74696919/download.mp3 Jets Roster QB (2): Geno Smith, Cade Klubnik Klubnik has done enough to earn the backup QB job.  This means there won’t be any need to use an additional roster spot on a signal-caller such as Bailey Zappe or Brady Cook.   One of those two may land on the practice squad, but that’s about it.  If this were a team with legitimate playoff aspirations, you make Klubnik your QB3 behind a veteran.  As it stands, that’s not the case. RB (4): Breece Hall, Braelon Allen, Isaiah Davis, Kene Nwangwu Hall is nursing a groin injury but is expected to be ready for Week 1 along with Allen and the similarly banged-up Isaiah Davis.  Nwangwu is a running back on paper, but a kick returner in reality.  Big year for Allen who needs to prove he can stay healthy and produce at the pro level. WR (6): Garrett Wilson, AD Mitchell, Omar Cooper, Isaiah Williams, Tim Patrick, Arian Smith AD Mitchell has dealt with his share of critics since dropping three passes in his Jets debut, but we’re expecting big things from him opposite Garrett Wilson this season.  Add Omar Cooper to the mix and this could be a dangerous trio.  Arian Smith makes it by the skin of his teeth, with his status as a draft pick allowing him to survive the roster cutdown.  Tim Patrick gets the nod as a proven vet but going with the younger option in Malik McClain, who we have going to the practice squad. TE (4): Mason Taylor, Kenyon Sadiq, Jeremy Ruckert, Jelani Woods Prior to the start of the season, we’d wondered aloud about Jelani Woods and whether or not his history with Frank Reich would give him a chance to stick.  Well, it certainly didn’t hurt the situation, and Reich now has a group of tight ends with what should be one of the highest ceilings in the league. OL (9): Olu Fashanu, Dylan Parham, Josh Myers, Joe Tippmann, Armand Membou, Chukwama Okorafor, Max Mitchell, Xavier Newman, Anez Cooper. One of the better young lines in the NFL; if we see Fashanu and Membou take another step forward, the Jets offense will benefit tremendously.  Also worth remembering that guard is a new position to Tippmann who we believe will have a monster year. DL (9): Harrison Phillips, T’Vondre Sweat, David Onyemata, David Bailey, Will McDonald, Jowon Briggs, Kingsley Enagbare, Joseph Ossai, Darrell Jackson. Sweat stands to be the most important acquisition on defense since Darren Mougey’s arrival if the 360-pounder can hit his ceiling.  Onyemata should work well with the likes of Phillips and Briggs to help fix what ailed the Jets run defense last season. LB (5): DeMario Davis, Jamien Sherwood, Mykal Walker, Marcelino McCrary-Ball, Jaden Keller Keller is the long-shot here, but with Davis’ age and Sherwood’s struggles last season, it may make sense to keep another linebacker in the fold, and Keller has had himself a good camp.  In the end, the Jets may opt to go with Kiko Mauigoa to avoid cutting a player who was just drafted last year. CB (7): Brandon Stephens, Azareye’h Thomas, D’Angelo Ponds, Nahshon Wright, Qwan’tez Stiggers, Jarvis Brownlee, Jordan Clark The Jets have had several players stand out at corner in camp, but you can’t keep ’em all.  We’re going with Jordan Clark in the final spot because he’s been outstanding thus far and has some versatility.  Mory Bamba could be headed to short-term IR.  Tre Brown and Samuel Womack have been good enough to justify a spot somewhere in the league and at the very least should land on the Jets practice squad. S (4): Minkah Fitzpatrick, Dean Belton, Andre Cisco, Malachi Moore Fitzpatrick is expected to be the best safety on the roster.  Belton has been one of the stars of camp and should be the other starter at some point this season.  Cisco is looking to bounce back from getting injured last season and has played well up to this point.  VJ Payne has been sidelined with an injury for most of camp, so we expect the Jets to place him on IR for the short-term. Specialists (3): Jason Sanders (PK), Austin McNamara (P), Thomas Hennessy (LS). If the Jets are smart, they’ll be turning over every stone in professional football to upgrade at kicker, but we’ll go with Sanders here for the sake of filling the spot.  McNamara is one of the league’s best, and Hennessy enters his tenth season. This resource addresses the core question: How do we reach new people, connect them to the church, move them to spiritual maturity,  and launch them to multiply. Resource Overview FORMED Structure: • Four core elements: Real Relationships, Transformational Teaching, Disciple Making Environments, and Intentional Multiplication • Built from dozens of pastor roundtables identifying common church struggles. • Developed by Scott Sullivan, Ray Sullivan (now Pastor at First Waycross), and PJ  Dunn (overseeing Revitalization at the Georgia Baptist Mission Board) • Will be taught through six regional cohorts led by trained leaders, including John. Key Definitions: • Culture: The shared expression of beliefs, values, and rhythms that define an  organization's identity; "how it feels" rather than just mission or vision• Disciple (Georgia Baptist definition): A committed, passionate follower of Jesus  Christ, based on 2 Timothy 2:1-7's four generations of disciples and three-word pictures (soldier, athlete, farmer) Critical Leadership Questions Three essential questions every pastor should answer: • Do we have a culture of discipleship, and is it working? • Do you have a definition of a biblical disciple for your people? • Does the culture and success of the ministry depend solely on you as the leader? Personal Disciplines for Leaders: • Start with personal abiding - "I can't lead what I don't do." • Distinguish between being in the Bible for your people (sermon prep) versus being in  the Bible for yourself • Pray specifically: "Lord, who do I invite in?" • Most successful ministry comes from one-on-one, one-on-two investments over time. Example: John invested ten years in a man who came hungover most mornings; now that man is leading a college ministry. Multiplication Mindset: • Invite younger leaders into discipleship groups to pass the torch • Equip them to replicate: "Now you go find some guys." • Story: A man moving to North Carolina took extra MacArthur Daily Bibles to start  groups there Practical Opportunities Beyond Sunday Services: • Partner with existing community services (food banks, deliveries) • Prayer walks in neighborhoods • Student car washes • Leverage natural contexts (pickleball example: introvert wife built new friendships,  led couple to church, provided support during medical crisis) Church Facility Design: North Metro Church built a massive foyer/mall effect holding 500 people, transforming culture by giving space for pre-service connection rather than herding people like cattle. Action Items • Georgia Baptist Mission Board Discipleship Team: Launch FORMED resource by the end of April, release four podcast episodes every two weeks for cohesive learning • Regional leaders (including John): Prepare to lead cohorts using  an overview/introduction approach (Matthew Gibb's piece to be distributed) • Churches interested in Sherwood's On Mission materials: Contact John Spencer at johns@sherwoodbaptist.net for manual/digital copies Closing Principle "A church that is easy to attend but hard to connect in will always struggle to multiply.  Bet the farm on relationships - Jesus did."

OR Unplugged” is a coalition created by parents in Portland to support healthy digital environments for children. The group provides resources to parents and families like curriculums for digital wellness, suggestions for alternative devices to smartphones, and community events with “unplugged” activities. The group also works as a thread to unite several smaller, local groups of parents across Oregon that are like-minded about creating phone-free environments for their children. Currently, these groups exist around Central Oregon, Hood River, Ashland, Salem and the Portland-Metro area.   One of these groups, based in Sherwood, was founded by Daniel Golder, a father who wanted to create a screen-free upbringing for his children. He calls the local group “Analog Alpha,” because of the group’s goal of helping Generation Alpha being “adept at technology without being dominated by it.”   Kathy Masarie is the founder of OR Unplugged — she’s a retired pediatrician who pivoted to this advocacy work after two decades in healthcare. We’ll hear from Masarie and Golder about their work.
