NAR is ripping up parts of the rulebook and claiming a win in court, Zillow says 53% of homes lost value, and Redfin is calling this the strongest buyer's market in more than a decade. So… is the housing market finally shifting, or are we just stuck in a weird standstill? In this live episode of tWiRE (This Week in Real Estate), we're breaking down: • NAR's "dawn of a new era" – their new 3-year strategic plan to rebuild trust, modernize tools and data, and tighten ethical standards after two brutal years of controversy. • A key NAR win in a buyer commission case – why the judge striking down the proposed class (because it overlaps with Sitzer | Burnett) matters for future commission lawsuits and industry risk. • MLS access goes local – NAR repeals the national rule tying MLS access to Realtor membership and hands the decision to local MLSs after a major risk review and a slate of policy changes. • Referral fee transparency fight – the board voted for wider disclosure, the delegate body shot it down. We'll talk about what that says about "pro-consumer" messaging vs. how money really moves in real estate. Then we zoom out to the market: • "53% of homes lost value" – what that headline actually means (and doesn't), how most homeowners are really positioned, and how to talk nervous sellers off the ledge without sugarcoating reality. • Strongest buyer's market in over a decade – sellers outnumber buyers by a wide margin, especially in key metros, but it only feels like a buyer's market if you can afford to play. • A housing market that's basically stuck – sales, new listings, and prices are barely moving; yet national home prices still inched up in October even as activity plateaus. • Rates and demand – mortgage rates just hit their highest level in a month, loan demand is down about 5%, and pending home sales are slipping as buyers wait for lower rates and economic clarity. • If you're an agent, buyer, seller, or investor trying to figure out what to do next in this "buyer's market that doesn't really feel like one," this episode is for you.

Pod Crashing episode 412 with Maggie Robinson Katz from the podcast Hands Tied BBC Studios and iHeartPodcasts announced that they have partnered for the first time on a new original true-crime podcast - Hands Tied. The eight-episode series is presented by the award-winning journalist Maggie Robinson Katz (Scamtown, Mafia Tapes) and co-produced by BBC Studios and iHeartPodcasts. Launching on August 6th, episodes will be released weekly and will be available globally on iHeartRadio and wherever you get your podcasts. In "Hands Tied," listeners will be introduced to Lizz Melgar Rose who went from being interested in true crime to living it. In 2012 relatives found Lizz's mother Sandy Melgar shut in a closet, her hands bound behind her back, and her father Jim Melgar murdered. This awful tragedy was also a mystery and one Lizz was determined to solve using her lifelong interest in true crime as a guide. Podcast host Maggie Robinson Katz delves deep inside the police investigation, the courtroom where the drama unfolded as the jury wrestled with this truly shocking crime, and inside Lizz's own subsequent battle for answers - and for justice. Because there is one thing Lizz is convinced of, the wrong person is in prison for her father's murder. Maggie Robinson Katz said: "Though 'Hands Tied' is an examination into the shocking murder of Jim Melgar, my hope is that it transcends the typical true crime tropes and listeners connect with the human story at its core. The story of a daughter, and her tireless quest for answers and justice. I am grateful to Lizz for trusting us with her story - and her strength to continue her pursuit of justice. I am also grateful to BBC Studios and iHeart for joining forces with me to explore this case." Rich Knight, Director of Audio at BBC Studios, said: "At the heart of this extraordinary series is a violent crime and a search for answers. I'm grateful to our colleagues at iHeart for working with us to realise this story. And of course, I'm grateful to Lizz for letting us into her life. I hope listeners will be as moved by her fortitude as we were." Will Pearson, President of iHeartPodcasts, said: "We are excited to debut 'Hands Tied' with BBC Studios and help amplify the unbelievable details of a case that led to Sandy Melgar's conviction. Listeners everywhere will instantly become invested in Lizz's search for answers and feel her frustration as she comes up against a system she believes has failed her and her family, again and again." Hands Tied is a BBC Studios production which is co-produced and distributed by iHeartPodcasts. The eight-episode series (plus two bonuses) is hosted by Maggie Robinson Katz and was produced by Maggie Latham and Executive Produced by Joe Kent for BBC Studios, and Cristina Everett for iHeartPodcasts. The trailer for the original true-crime podcast is available to listen to now and the series launches on Wednesday, August 6 globally and can be listened to wherever you access your podcasts. Good morning Lemon Nation! Today we're digging into the absolute crash-out happening inside the MAGA universe. After days of pushing back on releasing the Epstein files, Donald Trump has suddenly flipped the script and now says Republicans should make them public. Did he realize the release was inevitable? Did someone finally tell him how guilty the stonewalling made him look? Hard to say, Trump logic is its own language. But here's the kicker: he now wants to “investigate” everyone named in the files… except, of course, the Republicans. Only the Democrats. Meanwhile, some of Trump's most loyal foot soldiers, people like Marjorie Taylor Greene, are breaking ranks on this one. And when MTG is willing to step off the Trump train, you know the wheels are starting to wobble. Are we watching real cracks form in the MAGA party? Could this be the moment the whole thing finally starts to crumble? Join us live as we break it down. This episode is sponsored by ZBiotics. Pod Crashing episode 408 with Anna Sinfield from the podcast The Girlfriends Podcast Jailhouse Lawyer "What does it mean to be a victim, or a villain? What happens when the line between the two starts to blur? On 7th July 2010, Kelly Harnett says her abusive boyfriend murdered a man right in front of her. So how did she end up in prison for it? Anna Sinfield - the journalist behind the global number 1 podcast, The Girlfriends, returns with her toughest story yet. This series isn't a whodunnit. It's not even really about what happened. It's about how a woman who was a victim of domestic violence became a villain in the eyes of the law. Found guilty of murder and locked up for over a decade; Kelly Harnett taught herself the law. And as she battled to overturn her conviction, she became a beacon of hope, fighting for the freedom of the abused women locked up alongside her. Pod Crashing episode 406 with Kelsey Snelling from the Podcast Camp Shame… "Camp Shame" is an eight-episode investigative series that delves into the darker aspects of Camp Shane's operations. Snelling, through meticulous research and heartfelt interviews, exposes how the camp, under the guise of promoting health, often pushed children to their physical and emotional limits. The podcast critically examines the systemic issues and societal pressures that allowed such practices to persist for over half a century.Central to the podcast are the firsthand accounts of former campers. These individuals recount experiences of being subjected to extreme diets, intense physical regimens, and psychological tactics aimed at enforcing conformity to narrow beauty standards. Many describe lasting impacts, including struggles with body image, self-esteem, and mental health. Snelling's compassionate storytelling ensures that these voices are heard, validated, and contextualized within broader societal issues.Beyond the confines of Camp Shane, "Camp Shame" serves as a commentary on the pervasive culture of fatphobia and the commodification of weight loss. The podcast challenges listeners to reflect on how societal obsessions with thinness can lead to harmful practices, especially when targeted at vulnerable populations like children. It also questions the ethics of for-profit institutions that capitalize on these obsessions without adequate oversight or concern for long-term well-being.Episodes available here:Https://www.iheart.com/podcast/1119-camp-shame-272594326/

It also questions the ethics of for-profit institutions that capitalize on these obsessions without adequate oversight or concern for long-term well-being.Episodes available here:Https://www.iheart.com/podcast/1119-camp-shame-272594326/ Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-unplugged-totally-uncut--994165/support.
