What can we do to combat a bad nights sleep? Do magnesium supplements really help? What do you think of things like snore guards? Mouth taping? Eye masks? AND, sleeping in the nude vs PJs ... YAY OR NAY?
Would you be happy to pay $110-a-year for a residential parking permit, so you could get a park outside your place whenever you wanted? Some Christchurch City Council candidates think you would. Especially, if you live in the central city or in a suburb close to town where on-street parking can be a real problem. The council is already looking into it. That's how we have an idea how much it would cost. Around $110-a-year. These candidates are saying today that it's time to give residents priority parking in their own streets. But I'm with developer Matthew Horncastle, from Williams Corporation, who is dead against the idea. He says anyone who pays rates has the right to use an on-street car park, whether they live in the area or not. And he's right. He says a lot of people can't afford to buy an apartment or a townhouse with off-street parking - so they have to park on the street. I know how infuriating it can be for people who can't get a park outside their place because every other Tom, Dick and Harry is parking there. And I know that it's a particular problem in the centre of town. Although, it's a problem too in the suburbs a bit further out from the city. Earlier this year, two-hour parking limits were introduced on Bishop Street in St Albans because people were struggling to get a park. Which I'm fine with. I've got no problem with that. Because that keeps the parks available for everyone. Resident parking permits are a different story, though. I think they're one of those things that sound good or look good on paper but, in reality, aren't. For example, policing them would be more work and cost for the council. Plus - just because you have a permit, it doesn't guarantee you a park. You could pay your $110 and end up parking around the corner. Or further away. I hear the argument that people living on a street should have priority over others when it comes to parking. But I think we just have to accept that we have more and more properties in Christchurch without off-street parking and residential parking permits aren't going to solve the problem. Steven and Ian begin with a quick conversation about living in a time of political violence and horrific videos popping up freely on social media feeds (0:00). From there, they do a hard pivot to a conversation about the recent MTV Video Music Awards (which continue to exist for some reason) and the rapid ascent of the pop-rock singer Sombr, whose recent LP I Barely Know Her dropped last month (5:45).After that, they do a "yay or nay" segment on freak folk (26:13). They also find time to finally dip into the mailbag, where they answer emails about the best "day" bands (32:02) and whether it's okay to wear a band T-shirt to that band's concert (39:33).In Recommendation Corner, Ian talks about emo band Algernon Cadwallader and Steven goes for the Michigan rock outfit Liquid Mike (45:30).New episodes of Indiecast drop every Friday. Send us a textIn this episode, we discuss aspects of the Dursley family and 4 Privet Drive and if we give them a yay or nay. Enjoy!Topics/Summary:· 1:24 The Dursleys are mean to Harry. Yay! This is the hallmark of the Dursley household. We would really be missing something if they were complete angels to him. It might be an interesting story if they were kinder, but the fact that they are trying to stamp the magic out of him that make them so memorable.· 8:06 The cupboard under the stairs. Yay! We absolutely need to see the cupboard under the stairs. Harry is only there for the first book of the series, but it marks a very important checkpoint in Harry's life. It is where his Hogwarts letters were addressed, and it is where his journey begins.· 14:13 The Dursleys are stupid. Nay! It is easy to be stupid and mean. But if they were a little smarter, we might hate them more. The same way Umbridge is smart and can get her way, the Dursleys might benefit from a little more brains.· 19:56 4 Privet Drive is a nice place to live. Yay! If 4 Privet Drive and the surrounding area is pretty nice and a pleasant enough place to live, it means more for Harry to dislike it so much. If it was a terrible place, he would have more of an excuse to hate it. But it is the Dursleys themselves that make it such an uncomfortable place for him.· 23:37 Harry and Dudley are friends from the start. Nay! The moment when Dudley and Harry part ways at the end is the most important for the Dursley/Harry arc. That is the capstone of Harry's time with the Dursleys. Harry only realizes what he had until it is gone. · 27:22 The Dursleys accept Harry's help in fleeing Voldemort. Yay! The two form a sort of alliance by the end of the story, and that truce is what allows the Dursleys to accept Harry's help and find shelter for the conflict to come. They accept Harry's word and part ways as equals.Having anything you want to hear or say? Click here for a voice submission or here for text. ThePotterDiscussion@gmail.comthepotterdiscussion.comNox

0:00 - Jeff Legwold! Long time, no talk. We missed our Leggy updates. A few weeks ago, he told us not to worry about Jahdae Barron still being unsigned. He was right about that. Now, should we be concerned that RJ Harvey hasn't put pen to paper yet? 14:31 - Fox Sports might be hiring some of the Barstool guys (like Dave Portnoy) to join their college football TV broadcast this season. Clearly, they're trying to emulate the McAfee model. Do we enjoy Pat McAfee? Or is he overstaying his welcome a bit? Then, Moser calls us from Italy with an update. 32:15 - The Bears just signed their 2nd round pick, and he was only 2 picks away from RJ Harvey. This means that Harvey should be signing soon, right? Also, let's revisit the Greatest Cry that was ever recorded on tape.
0:00 - Are you a fan of the Home Run Derby? Brett's a derby sicko, Moser hates it, and Vic's somewhere in the middle.20:18 - A few shorts weeks ago, we couldn't BELIEVE the Nuggets established this weird Co-GM Vice Presidents thing. The reaction wasn't particularly positive. Now, after all these roster moves, Nuggets Nation has complete faith in them. Quite the turnaround!35:43 - Rookies are scheduled to report to Broncos training camp tomorrow, and yet multiple Rookies haven't signed a contract yet (including Jahdae Barron and RJ Harvey). We weren't worried about this before. Should we be concerned now?
0:00 - Are you a fan of the Savannah Bananas? Do you like Banana Ball? Or is it an insult to the sport of baseball? 19:51 - Rick George thinks CU should play Nebraska in football every year because it's "good for the game." CU fans of the world - if you could only pick one...would you rather play CSU or Nebraska every year?36:01 - Our old Rockies friend DJ LeMahieu got DFA'd by the Yankees. Most people look at Arenado getting shipped off to St. Louis as the beginning of the end. Vic says it was actually losing DJ.

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Buffalo blogger and podcaster Chris to discuss both the Buffalo Bills and Sabres, including a segment devoted to eight potential upcoming scenarios for the Bills. As always this is an interesting time of the year for the Bills and every team in the NFL. It may not feel like it at the moment but championship teams are born or die over the next few months based on decisions made about players to re-sign, let walk, cut, trade away, trade for, sign in free agency and of course the NFL draft. Patrick points out eight potential scenarios that could happen with the Bills over the coming days and weeks and tasks Chris with playing general manager Brandon Beane for each. Chris discusses if he would make each proposed move or not and elaborates why. On the Sabres front the team is ready to return to action Saturday after a two week league-wide break for the Four Nations Face Off. Chris has thoughts on Lindy Ruff saying the Sabres can still back into the wild card mix by approaching games a certain way. He also comments on Jordan Greenway returning to the lineup, who he's likely playing with, why Zach Benson has been skating on the fourth line, Devon Levi owning the nets in Rochester and Chris' realistic expectations for the remaining 28 games. That plus sound issues that have plagued Talking Buffalo over the past few days, a few big show announcements and plenty more. Be sure to follow Chris on X at @2ITB_Buffalo and check out the Two in the Box blog in addition to the Instigator Podcast. Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red's at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. Do you ever hear about the latest eating or diet trend and wish you could “ask an expert”? Well, you've come to the right place! Listener Frances asks: “Hi, Megan. I'm curious. What do you think about this new intuitive eating craze? I've been listening to a few podcasts and reading, and I was on board at first, but now I'm not so sure because I really, really think your advice about eating PROs, hydrating, and exercise makes a lot more sense. I don't know. What do you think? Thanks.” This week, let's get a take from another expert, Philip Pape, host of the Wits & Weights podcast. Philip will give you the low down on intuitive eating and whether this is trend to embrace or avoid. His answer just might surprise you!
