Welcome to another exciting episode of God-sized Stories with Patricia Holbrook! In today's episode, we have a very special guest, Debbie W. Wilson, joining us to talk about her new book, Little Strength, Big God. Debbie shares her incredible journey of faith and discovering a God greater than her Goliaths. She opens up about her tendency to obsess over problems and her never-ending to-do list, often feeling the weight of having to fix and do everything. But she reminds us all of an important truth – God does not expect us to carry the burdens alone.Drawing from Jesus's teachings, Debbie emphasizes the importance of maintaining perspective in our relationship with God. When we find ourselves emotionally uptight and not enjoying our fellowship with Him, we have lost sight of God's size. One powerful concept that Debbie shares is the idea of being yoked to Jesus. As we work alongside Him, He carries the heavier burden, granting us rest in our souls. With this perspective, it is clear that our job is to simply trust and work with God rather than relying solely on our own strength and abilities.Patricia also reflects on her writing career and the challenges she faced as English being her second language. Feeling inadequate and unworthy, she witnessed God do incredible things despite her weaknesses. She encourages us all that even with little strength, we serve a mighty God.In this interview, Debbie shares her insights on topics such as the fear of God, overcoming injustice and ill treatment, and the power of obedience in cultivating a strong and vibrant faith.Join us on this captivating journey as we discover together how to embrace the God-sized stories in our own lives. Tune in to this episode of Flourish-Meant for stories, insights, and practical advice on finding strength in a big God when faced with overwhelming circumstances. Debbie W. Wilson is an ordinary woman serving an extraordinary God. Drawing from her walk with Christ, twenty-four years as a former Christian counselor, and decades as a Bible teacher, Debbie writes and speaks to connect sojourners to the heart of Christ. Debbie W. Wilson, a senior in college, initially had no desire to go into ministry. However, after attending a conference and feeling God's calling, she reluctantly applied for a position in International Student Ministry. Wrestling with self-doubt and believing she was not the right fit, Debbie eventually joined the ministry and grew in her faith. Through this experience, she discovered that God chooses individuals not based on their qualifications, but as an opportunity for personal growth and reliance on Him. Despite continually feeling inadequate when faced with God's calling, Debbie has learned to trust in His strength and has embraced her love for ministry. In this episode we cover the following topics: - Personal experience of difficulty with children's sleep patterns and feeling overwhelmed - Finding strength and opportunities in challenging situations - Heading up a decorating committee for church despite lack of experience - Feeling overwhelmed but still desiring to do what is asked - Reference to the story of Deborah and Barak from the Bible - Small view of God and big view of problems - Importance of stepping out in faith and following God - The guest, Debbie W. Do you ever feel like you don't have enough faith to do what God asks you to do? Or that God isn't big enough to help you? If you answered yes to either question, you're not alone. Even Abraham and Noah also struggled when God gave them instructions!   We need to remember that it's not about having faith in ourselves. God isn't interested in the amount of faith we have when we start, but it is the faith we place in God that matters. Faith in ourselves doesn't impress the Lord.   Throughout scripture, God commends people who obeyed Him despite their lack of faith. We start our race, and as we obey, our faith in God grows.   Read the full shows notes of Connie's conversation with Debbie W. Faith Over Fear

None of us were born with a fear of failure. But over time, as we learn and grow and live imperfectly, we begin to attach labels to our journeys and mishaps. We call them failures, and over time, we may determine we are as well. Our faulty processing will greatly hinder our progress, growth, and effectiveness, if we let it. Fear of failure often stems from a very dangerous focus: Making much of ourselves and little of God. But Scripture tells us life—and growth—comes when we die to ourselves so that Christ can live in and through us.
