What do you do when the storms of life hit? Our instinct is to hunker down, strain at the oars, and just try to survive. But what if the storm isn't just an obstacle — what if it's an invitation?Guest speaker Jeff Stemple walks us through one of the most familiar stories in Scripture: Jesus walking on water. And while the story is familiar, the truth buried inside it is anything but comfortable. By looking at the accounts in Mark, John, and Matthew side by side, Jeff unpacks why Matthew is the only gospel writer who includes Peter's attempt to step out of the boat — and why that "screw up" might be the most encouraging part of the whole story. The storms of life are invitations to step out in faith.Fear says stay put. Faith says step out. And what Jesus says to Peter in the middle of that storm, he says to all of us — come. The very place we least want to go may be the exact place Jesus is already standing, waiting for us to trust him.Whether your storm started last week or last year, this episode is for you.Watch all our sermons on our youtube channel "Flipside Christian Church"Join us in person 8:00am, 9:30am & 11:00am every Sunday morning.37193 Ave 12 #3h, Madera, CA 93636For more visit us at flipside.churchFor more podcasts visit flipsidepodcasts.transistor.fm

Anxiety is everywhere. Roughly 38 million American adults are taking medication to manage it—a number that has climbed sharply since 2019. But anxiety isn't just a modern problem, and it isn't merely a clinical one. In this message from Philippians 4:5–7, guest speaker David Forsyth makes the case that anxiety is a sin of little faith—common to all believers, not unique to a few—and that Scripture offers a clear, three-part prescription to address it.First, adjust your focus. "The Lord is near" is not a throwaway phrase but a statement of eschatological reality. Caesar is not Lord. Circumstances are not Lord. The risen Christ is Lord, and he stands near, interceding for his children.Second, cease worry and pray. Paul's command is direct: be anxious for nothing, prayerful in everything. The antidote to worry isn't willpower—it's prayer built on a foundation of thanksgiving. Gratitude resets the soul and establishes the atmosphere in which believing prayer can flourish.Third, believe God's promise. The peace that guards hearts and minds in Christ Jesus is supernatural—it surpasses comprehension. It is God himself standing watch over his children.David Forsyth is honest: this isn't a quick cure. The battle with anxiety is lifelong. But long obedience in the same direction pays off, and God's grace is more than sufficient for the fight. ★ Support this podcast ★

In this episode of A Little Faith, Micahel interviews Stephanie Keating about her mission work in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, and the faith crisis she faced when COVID upended her life. Sponsored by WCF, Stephanie moved to Cambodia in 2017 to teach English and the Bible, eventually marrying a Cambodian brother Pisey in early 2020. As borders shut, work disappeared, and she became pregnant, Stephanie returned to Canada in July 2020 while Pisey stayed behind. Their applications for him to come to Canada were repeatedly refused, leaving them separated for nearly two years; Pisey first held their son Elisha at 17 months old. Stephanie shares anger, grief, and the struggle of “unanswered prayers,” and the scriptures that anchored her. 2 Kings 6 and Job 5:17–18 both stand out to Stephanie to help her frame suffering, and help her deepen her faith.
Sunday Morning Sermon by Pastor Justin Braun
In this message from Matthew 14:22-33, we explore what Jesus actually means when he calls his disciples people of "little faith" — and why little faith is not the absence of faith, but a shift in attention away from Christ toward our circumstances. Through the story of Peter walking on water, we see how fear, doubt, and sinking moments don't disqualify us from Jesus's rescue — they invite it. When Peter cries out "Lord, save me," Jesus doesn't hesitate. This message is for anyone who feels like their faith isn't enough — because the good news is that Jesus meets us in the middle of the waves anyway. For upcoming events and important announcements at Skyline, visit our Facebook page or the Church Center App for the latest details! If you'd like to check out more resources, get to know Skyline Church, or donate to our ministry and missions please visit www.skylineofallon.com. Little Faith—Little Power (Matthew 17:14-20)
SUNDAY MORNING
"Prayer reconnects us to God, and fasting removes the competition." — Pastor Ryan Kramer In this message, Pastor Ryan Kramer explores the gap between knowing God's power and experiencing it. When we face "this kind" of mountain—the stubborn habits, the long-term obstacles, or the silent heavens—the answer isn't simply more faith, but faith placed in the right Person. By understanding our nature as body, soul, and spirit, we can use the tools of prayer and fasting to bring our lives back into harmony with God's will. -- The Danger of Familiarity: How past successes can lead us to rely on our own strength and routines rather than a fresh dependence on the Holy Spirit. -- Little Faith vs. Mustard Seed Faith: Why Jesus rebuked the disciples for "little faith" but praised the "mustard seed." It isn't about the size of your faith, but where you place it. -- The Triune Being: Understanding how our body (fleshly appetites) and soul (mind and emotions) often compete with our spirit for control. -- Prayer and Fasting: The two-fold process of reconnecting with the Creator while intentionally silencing the distractions and cravings that hinder our spiritual growth. -- The Purpose of Difficulty: Recognizing that God allows "uncomfortable" seasons to move us from casual faith to a deeper, more transformative reliance on Him. Scriptures for Further Study -- Matthew 17:1-21 -- Deuteronomy 32:5 -- Matthew 10:1 -- Genesis 1:26-27 +++++++ Join us for church this Sunday. "Men Of Little Faith" - January 18, 2026 - ALC 20th Year Anniversary - Rev Stan Davidson
Why Are You Afraid, You Men Of Little Faith( Matthew 8:23-27 )
The sermon delivers a sobering warning about the dangers of both no faith and little faith, illustrating how spiritual blindness and neglect of God's revealed truth lead to severe consequences. Drawing from Matthew 16:1–12, it contrasts the Pharisees and Sadducees—religious leaders with no faith who reject Christ despite overwhelming signs—with the disciples, who, despite being believers, exhibit little faith by misinterpreting Jesus' warning about 'leaven' as a concern about bread rather than the corrupting influence of religious hypocrisy. The central message is that faith is not optional but essential for discernment, and a lack of faith—whether in unbelief or spiritual complacency—results in blindness to God's work, hardened hearts, and vulnerability to deception. The remedy is intentional, daily engagement with Scripture, meditation on Christ's redemptive work, and communal discipleship, which cultivate a faith strong enough to resist the leaven of worldly and religious compromise and to stand firm in the face of opposition.

What does it really mean to have faith that stands strong in every storm? Pastor Tim Delina shares a powerful word on the importance of "perfecting faith," walking us through four moments in Matthew where Jesus rebuked His disciples for having little faith. He explains how faith is essential for provision, for peace in the middle of life's storms, and for clearly hearing the voice of God. Using Matthew's Gospel as the main text, Pastor Tim challenges us to shift our focus from self-discovery to God-discovery, reminding us that true faith grows as we know Him more. With a striking illustration of Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps training in the dark, Pastor Tim calls us to trust God even when we cannot see what is ahead. Faith is not just believing God can act, but trusting Him enough to keep following Him through the unknown. Watch now and be encouraged to invite Christ into your life, grow deeper in faith, and stay on track with God's plan. Life had been good to our guests. They had traveled the world as overseas teachers. They were blessed with a strong marriage, a nice house, great jobs, and a happy, healthy two-year old son. Was God a part of their lives? Some. But He was about to re-enter in a very big way through a very small baby. Their daughter, Faith was born weighing 450 grams. Four grams less than a pound. A true micro preemie. She was given no chance to live, but after insisting on intervention, and turning to prayer, miracles began to happen as his faith, belief, and love of God grew.Become a Parshall Partner: http://moodyradio.org/donateto/inthemarket/partnersSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
