Cedar Rapids Kernels Take Game One Over South Bend Cubs, 10–4 CEDAR RAPIDS, IA — The South Bend Cubs couldn’t overcome early and late surges from the Cedar Rapids Kernels, falling 10–4 in the series opener Tuesday night. Cedar Rapids jumped on Cubs starter Tyler Schlaffer right away, plating four runs in the first inning. Schlaffer lasted just one frame before giving way to Conner Schultz, who provided 3.1 innings of steady relief, allowing only one run. Carlo Reyes followed and tossed two scoreless innings to keep South Bend within striking distance. The Cubs fought back in the fourth, erupting for four runs to tie the game. Jefferson Rojas launched his first home run of the season — a two-run shot — and Reginald Preciado added a two-RBI single to center, scoring Andy Garriola and Reivaj Garcia. South Bend added pressure on the bases with two double steals in the inning and finished the game with six stolen bases. However, the momentum shifted again in the bottom of the seventh. Evan Taylor made his South Bend debut and struggled, issuing a leadoff walk before surrendering a two-run homer to Gabriel Gonzalez. Taylor allowed five runs in the frame as the Kernels pulled away for good. Despite strong offensive efforts, including Preciado’s first three-hit game of the year, the Cubs were stifled by Cedar Rapids’ defense, which turned four double plays to squash potential rallies. Final Score: Cedar Rapids 10, South Bend 4See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

** PLEASE SUBSCRIBE ** Featured in WYGYFF Episode 2: Multi-instrumentalist, producer and record label owner Evan Taylor. He served as bandleader of the Bernie Worrell Orchestra and produced the P-Funk keyboard wizard's posthumous 2024 album, Bernie Worrell: Wave From the WOOniverse. The collection features collaborations with Bootsy Collins, Fred Wesley, Norwood Fisher, Buckethead, Leo Nocentelli, Stanton Moore, Will Calhoun, Fred Schneider, Sean Lennon and Jerry Harrison, among others. Taylor also runs Loantaka Records out of Glendale, N.Y., as well as the Loantaka Sound studio in downtown L.A. RECORDED SEPTEMBER 2024 Hosted by Scott "DR GX" Goldfine — musicologist, author of “Everything Is on the One: The First Guide of Funk” and creator/host of the popular TRUTH IN RHYTHM podcast — "Where'd You Get Your Funk From?" is the latest interview show brought to you by FUNKNSTUFF.NET. Where'd You Get Your Funk From (WYGYFF) is an open format video and audio podcast focusing on the here and now, with a broad range of creative and artistic guests sharing fascinating stories, experiences, and perspectives. WYGYFF is a welcoming avenue to newer and independent musical acts as well as established and still active musicians of any genre; authors; filmmakers; actors; artists; collectors and archivists; radio & podcast personalities; journalists; scholars; sound techs; promoters; photographers; and other creative people. A common thread, is the show's standard opening question: Where'd you get your funk from? This is much deeper than it may seem as the answer need not be strictly about funky music, as not everyone has found the funk. It could hit on whatever type of music touches their soul or pleasure centers. Additionally, the question extends beyond music. Paraphrasing George Clinton, funk is whatever it needs to be to get you over the hump. Thus, guests can explain where they got their grit, perseverance, inspiration, talent, creativity, character or other qualities that shaped them into who they are today. This serves as a springboard into candid, in-depth and engrossing conversations. LEGAL NOTICE: All video and audio content protected by copyright. This episode of Side Projects honors the legacy of the late, great, legendary keyboardist Bernie Worrell. His friend and colleague Evan Taylor talks about the posthumous album he produced called Wave From The WOOniverse. It contains 12 previously unfinished Bernie Worrell compositions and 1 unreleased Funkadelic song. It's been a two year labor of love for Evan and Bernie's widow, Judie. And the amount of guests on this double album is staggering. There's Will Calhoun from Living Colour, Mike Watt, Norwood Fisher from Fishbone, Marc Ribot, Fred Schneider, Sean Ono Lennon, Bootsy Collins, and a lot more. Evan tells me how he met and began working with Bernie, initially, and how they hung out at Evan's parent's house in New Jersey. He talks about his history with Bernie and how he and his record label, Loantaka Records, were tapped to head this project. It wasn't always easy to get the music together, but it gave some great stories, which he shares. So grab the album wherever you get music. Follow Evan @evantaylorthe artist or @loantakarecords. Interview with Evan Taylor Bernie Worrell Orchestra bandleader. Evan Taylor whose latest production is the posthumous Bernie Worrell: Wave From The WOOniverse about this release and some of his other diverse musical endeavors. Bernie Worrell: Wave From The WOOniverse is a double album concocted in fourteen cities, issued on 12” LP vinyl a day after Bernie's birthday, (April 19) on Record Store Day 2024 by Org Music in conjunction with Loantaka Records as a Record Store Day “exclusive.” As of June 28 it's also available via streaming platforms. The release will be accompanied by a bound-to-be viral video of the title track directed by Los Angeles-based dancer, Madeline Riley. Taylor has remained behind the scenes for most of his career. He worked in various capacities with Worrell, mike watt, Money Mark, Theresa Wayman (Warpaint), King Tuff, The Chapin Sisters, and Jimmy Destri of Blondie. He has made 1960's country-influenced records with members of Black Flag, participated in eclectic recording projects and performed with practically every member of Talking Heads. Evan's also released a string of critically acclaimed singles as part of the Art-Rock duo Purple Witch of Culver. Evan has never identified with the archetype of “cosmic Funkateer.” He grew up with diverse tastes that ran from The Beach Boys to Prince. As a producer his brand has been “staying off-brand.” In 2022, Taylor was presented with a unique opportunity he felt he had been preparing for his entire career. Bernie Worrell: Wave From The WOOniverse addresses the abundance of unfinished work Bernie Worrell, a prolific writer and visionary, left behind when he passed away in 2016. These compositions remained untouched for a period of decades, collecting dust on reels of two-inch analog tape. Eventually, the tapes were re-examined to analyze Bernie's nuanced and creative method. After a period of deep reflection, the Bernie Worrell estate decided it was time to complete his vision. With a series of Bernie's collaborators, contemporaries, and friends including Bootsy Collins, Sean Ono Lennon, Jerry Harrison (Talking Heads), Leo Nocentelli (The Meters), Fred Schneider (B52s), Miho Hatori (Cibo Matto), Steve Scales, Marc Ribot, Fred Wesley (James Brown, Parliament), Marco Benevento, Stanton Moore (Galactic), Steven Bernstein, Daru Jones (Jack White), Will Calhoun (Living Colour, mike watt, Norwood Fisher (Fishbone), Jared Samuel Elioseff, Kyp Malone and Jaleel Bunton (TV on the Radio), Binky Griptite (Dap Kings), Nick Montoya, Paul Dooely, Alecia Chakour, Smokey Hormel, Ana Becker, Eric McFadden (Sgt. Splendor), Sarah La Puerta, Michael Rueben and many more innovators his initiative was completed with dedication to preserving the integrity of the magic which makes Bernie a beloved extraordinary soul. Also included on the album is a previously unreleased Funkadelic track, “Contusion,” which showcases Bernie's masterful work with the group. https://loantaka-records.com/ . http://evantaylormusic.com.
This week's guest, producer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Evan Taylor (Bernie Worrell Orchestra, Loantaka Records), brings us The Beach Boys' 21st studio album - and the last one under the group's name to be written and produced solely by troubled leader Brian Wilson - 'The Beach Boys Love You'. Released in 1977, this strange, at-times childlike collection of songs sounded like nothing else the band had done up until then. With raspier-than-usual vocals from the Wilson brothers and Brian's newfound infatuation with the Moog synthesizer, it left many fans/critics confused at the time but has since been recognized for presaging both synth-pop and new wave. Songs discussed in this episode: Good Vibrations - Brian Wilson (Live on SNL, 1976); Distant Star - Bernie Worrell (Featuring Jerry Harrison); Take 5 - Bernie Worrell; What Have They Done To My Funk - Bernie Worrell (Featuring Bootsy Collins, Michael Moon Reuben, Ouiwey Collins, Buckethead); Be My Baby - The Ronettes; Let Us Go On This Way, Hey, Little Tomboy, Roller Skating Child, Mona, Johnny Carson, Good Time - The Beach Boys; Good Time, Shyin' Away - American Spring; Honkin' Down The Highway, Ding Dang, Solar System - The Beach Boys; Solar System - Alex Chilton; The Night Was So Young, I'll Bet He's Nice - The Beach Boys; Shoot The Curl - The Honeys; Let's Put Our Hearts Together, I Wanna Pick You Up, Airplane, Love Is A Woman - The Beach Boys; Wave From The WOOniverse - Bernie Worrell (Featuring Miho Hatori)

When you think about the fact that Evan Taylor grew up in Florence, Alabama, as a big Crimson Tide football fan, you wonder how he ended up a Razorback. But that's the national pull this program has under Dave Van Horn. When you're consistently one of the top programs in the country, that's what happens. And Taylor became enamored with the Razorbacks during their 2018 College World Series run. But it's not easy to join a top program. Taylor struggled early, pitching fewer than 15 innings in his first three seasons combined. That led to a conversation with DVH that helped turn his career around. This season, Taylor has turned into one of the most reliable arms in the Razorback bullpen, posting a 3.38 ERA and 47 strikeouts in 37 1/3 innings. The struggles—and the worries that came with them—are a thing of the past.

VIEW IMAGE The best From 2021 ПОЛНЫЙ ТРЕКЛИСТ 1. Evan Taylor talks about Fostering Connections which is an organization whose mission is to serve abused and neglected childrens in Tulsa county and surrounding county. They do have a resource center near 51st in Harbour where families can shop for free once a month and get clothing items, back to school items and cribs. They also offer assistance like emergency placement where if someone gets a baby in the middle of the night they can provide diapers and formula and other stuff. There are a lot of ways where fostering can happen like you can go directly to the Department of Human Services, you can also go to private agencies and there is also kinship adoption. And as of now we still do have a tremendous shortage of foster parents in Oklahoma and Foster Connection can connect you through different ways to foster a child if you do want to have one. For your donations and for more information about what they do you can email Evan Taylor through their website at www.fosteringconnectionsok.org. Welcome to the Phlite Zone! With your hosts Jimmy Rodweller and Evan Taylor. Tonight, we will be discussing a touch of each team. The Phillies just signed JT and Didi, but did they add enough pieces to the pitching staff to contend with the rest of the loaded NL East? The Sixers and Flyers seasons are in full effect and both teams are meeting and even exceeding expectations. The Phlite Zone crew will discuss their thoughts on the fast starts. Then there’s the team at the Linc… The guys will give their thoughts on the Carson Wentz saga since everything over the past several months is centered around the 130 plus million dollar man (What does the Goff trade mean for Carson’s value?). The theme of tonight’s show will be who in Philadelphia is overrated and over-hated. Names on this list for discussion will be Carson Wentz, Claude Giroux, Bryce Harper, Ben Simmons, etc.

Welcome Sarah Safaie & Evan Taylor to the show. Together they are Purple Witch of Culver. They’re an experimental, jazz, electro funk duo with an infusion of poetry. Sarah tells me that one of her musical influences is Lisa Simpson and Evan’s parents have an unusual way of showing their support for his choice of career. Oh, and Evan’s mom calls in the middle of the podcast. The duo has three singles out right now and they’re like nothing else that’s come out in 2020. The sound is a mix of vintage electronics & St. Mark’s Poetry Project. Check out the music on bandcamp or through streaming services. Follow them on social media to find out about upcoming releases. They’re planning on one per month. Follow us @PerformanceAnx on social media. Subscribe, rate, & review. And if you like the episodes, consider saying thanks with a cup of coffee. We’ll pass it around! You can do it once with no commitment. Now let’s get things going with Purple Witch of Culver on Performance Anxiety on the Pantheon Podcast Network.
