A lifetime studying music and it's litany of influences converge in Matthew “Math” Judson's Demagogue's Delight (1916 Records), with songs ranging from sweet song-of-the-summer earworms like “Magic” and the Arctic Monkeys-like pogo-inducing charisma of “Gunfire” and “Mind Over Matter'' to the wistful, soaring journey-within-a-song beauty of “Unanswered Prayers'' and “Out The Back”. Throughout, the album is punctuated by standout guitar solos and hooks galore and is a journey through self awareness and growth. Featured are contributions from Blake Atwell, Shreddward Brailliff (Bright Light Social Hour), Michael Patrick St. Clair (White Denim, Polyphonic Spree, Okkervil River), Travis Kennedy (The Deer, Electric Ladyland Studios) with mastering by Steve Marek (Monobody, NNAMDÏ, Tigran Hamasyan). Young Math Judson dove headfirst into music as a child in the Chicago area at the age of 9 when his parents kindly replaced his homemade tupperware drum set with a real one. From there, he progressed to studying percussion and piano and joining marching band and drum line to jamming with friends in the basement while being nurtured by accomplished professors who had worked with everyone from Al DiMeola, Clark Terry to KC & The Sunshine Band. In college the lefty learned to play on the right handed guitar and played in a plethora of bands ranging from post-punk to funk and jazz fusion while honing his skills performing with professional Broadway performers like Anthony Rapp (Rent, Dazed & Confused) and Shoshana Bean (Wicked, Hairspray, Ariana Grande, Michael Jackson). After earning a degree in jazz studies, the artist moved to Austin with the band that would become The Pride in 2014 and launched a solo career while touring with The Digital Wild (members of Fort Never). That solo career conceived Demagogue's Delight, which showcases Judson's considerable skills and funnels them into a promising debut bursting with captivating single-worthy gems.Soundcloud | Bandcamp | WebsiteRecent Press: Fox TV Music In The Morning live performance | Austin American Statesman Review | How Did I Get Here Podcast | New Noise Magazine | “Magic” KUTX Song Of The Day

I programmet intervjuas även George McCrae, Timmy Thomas, KC and The Sunshine Band, Steve Alaimo, Latimore, Jimmy Bo Horne och Clarence Reid (alias Blowfly).

Betty Wright blev med glödande röst och relationsdrama i låtform den klarast lysande stjärnan i ett framväxande skivimperium (TK), som bidrog till att förändra 70-talets musik. Mats fann Betty i hennes stora villa gömd bland palmer i Miami. I programmet intervjuas också George McCrae, Timmy Thomas, KC and The Sunshine Band, Steve Alaimo, Latimore, Jimmy Bo Horne och Clarence Reid.

Wesley David has lived 2 very different lives, and the only thing that’s held them - and himself - together has been an obsession with music. Growing up in a self-described ‘Wacky, doomsday Bible cult’, the Singer-Songwriter has relied on a love of all things Rock ‘n’ Roll since a young age as an escape - one which would eventually lead him to become a touring musician in LA. Influenced at a young age by the alt-rock and pop of the 90s like Oasis, Nirvana and Radiohead, plus classic and prog rock from the Who to Rush, his whimsical, tongue-in-cheek songwriting style was both identity and escape from the often hopeless and frightening world of an Apocalypse delayed. On his upcoming album Never Late Than Better, which was written and recorded during the Covid-19 Pandemic, he synthesizes thoughts and feelings displaced from a life half-lived as a Christian missionary apologist, only to come full circle into the doubt and reluctant freedom of becoming a skeptic and unbeliever. It’s a journey not without a sense of humor at the unexpected in life, and a playful sense of the absurd....Because what could be more absurd than a hundred drunks shouting Sweet Caroline together at the top of their lungs? Touring work after college was in the form of a Piano bar entertainer, where Wes rose to the top of the scene in the Southwest only to realize how much it eventually jaded him. Across countless shows, he’s opened for K.C. and the Sunshine Band, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, performed at Festivals featuring Journey/Steve Miller Band, and played extensively from places as far flung as Dublin to Las Vegas and the Caribbean. Featured in local magazines and even NBC News, it was a dream job at first for a broke musician. But touring is exhausting; and the old escape back to the optimistic pop-rock sounds of the 90s still held firm.Fast forward to the Pandemic, and priorities changed by necessity. The title is itself an inside-joke referring to the sense of wasted opportunities and years gone by too fast, both due to chronic autoimmune health problems, and performing but not authentically creating. But now Wes is excited and looking forward to a year’s end of live streaming events and full touring for Never Late Than Better in 2021, with venues already lined up. A little older and wiser, and like the penultimate song on the record in fact speaks to - doing something later than you had wanted is still better than not doing it all.Website: Wesleydavidmusic.com Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/wesleydavidmusic/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAA_UkFCrPaPyr3QJpUhLbA SonicBids: https://www.sonicbids.com/band/wesley-david/'Spiritual-but-proud-unbeliever' song on album:https://open.spotify.com/track/5FT9so8Yg4WbhJOkX91TvaFull album - Never Late Than Betterhttps://open.spotify.com/album/3aJuN6LWhXDrSxsIm1PBJAFeatured article in Long Beach Post (Long Beach CA)https://lbpost.com/hi-lo/never-late-than-better-chronicles-wesley-davids-salvationFull Podcast, Diveintodiscussion.com - https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/dive-into-discussion/id1300304273*** Time Stamps*** 00:52 Monologue 20:41 Announcements28:38 Intro32:12 Interview *****Now that we’ve begun to process our history with toxic religion, we seek to regain autonomy over our minds and bodies from residual narratives, whether cultural or religious; while working towards respecting and empowering the autonomy of others. The Democrat Riot Backfire. Now official, as Democrats attempt to distance themselves from the violence they have hitherto condoned. Their internal poll data must be crushing. That said, Kamala Harris has advised "everyone beware" because the riots are simply "not gonna stop." Senator Rand Paul and his wife are attacked by a Democrat Mob. Kelley Paul describes her harrowing experience. President Trump offers commentary on the rioters, anarchists, agitators and hate-filled looters of the Left. We analyze the roots of the Democrat Riot Strategy, and why they've taken way too long to disavow. A species of Elite Incompetence. The connection to ObamaGate. Plus, Minnesota going red. Colorado in play. An August Night. With Listener Calls & Music via Bjork, K.C. & The Sunshine Band and Neil Diamond. See omnystudio.com/policies/listener for privacy information.

Hello from a hot and sunny London, and I've just celebrated taking our first steps out of lockdown by going up into the loft and digging out a box of 12" vinyl disco classics. I've chosen the lesser-played versions of these mega-hits: some from the original days of disco, and some which have been produced more recently. Overall I feel the set has quite a silky, orchestral feel to it, including Joey Negro's delicately balanced rendering of strings, pianos, vocal harmonies and loving breakdowns of the O'Jays "I love music", Bebu Silvetti's crazy keyboard skills and unrivaled disco percussion on his "Spring rain", and my personal set favourite, Dimitri from Paris' epic cinematic Super Disco Orchestra remix of Odyssey's "Native New Yorker". It's an amazing instrumental version, and I was tempted to drop in some of the vocals just for old times' sake, but - well what do you think? This track makes me so happy I just cry every time I hear it. Seriously, I've got a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes right now! Maybe because I was lucky enough to meet Odyssey when I was just a teenager. Somehow I had managed to persuade them to let me interview them for the hospital radio station where I volunteered. They'd done a gig at Nottingham's Rock City and I waited in the foyer of their hotel well into the early hours of the morning to meet them. I'm still so star-struck I've got no idea what I spoke to them about in the interview, but I recall they were charming. Thanks Billie, Lilian and Louisa. So, make some space, invite your five friends and dance, dance, dance, the two metre lock-down special. Thanks to the great DJs, editors and remixers who are also keeping the disco fire burning including Joey Negro, The Reflex, and Disco Purrfection aka DJ Disco Cat. Here's the full tracklist for this set: (1) Love Hangover (Extended Full Mix) DIANA ROSS; (2) Going back to my roots (Joey Negro Disco Blend) ODYSSEY; (3) Cuba (Disco Purrfection) THE GIBSON BROTHERS; (4) Daddy Cool BONEY M; (5) Heaven must be missing an angel (Sh*t Hot Sound System) TAVARES; (6) Funkytown (12" Extended MG Edit) LIPPS INC; (7) That's the way (I like it) (Loshmi Edit) K C & THE SUNSHINE BAND; (8) I love music (Joey Negro Sweet Music Mix) THE O' JAYS; (9) Native New Yorker (Dimitri From Paris' Super Disco Orchestra Remix) ODYSSEY; (10) I will survive (Groovefunkel New Disco Mix) GLORIA GAYNOR; (11) September (The Reflex/DJ S) EARTH WIND & FIRE; (12) Let's all chant (Butch Le Butch Rework) MICHAEL ZAGER BAND; (13) Rapper's Delight (Long Version) THE SUGARHILL GANG; (14) Good Times (Hangover Boss Remix/Original 12" Mix 2006 Remaster) CHIC; (15) Spring Rain (Disco Purrfection) SILVETTI; (16) Nice and Slow (Disco Purrfection) JESSE GREEN; (17) Disco Inferno (Time Capsule Version) THE TRAMMPS; (18) Boogie Wonderland (12" Version) EARTH WIND & FIRE; (19) Devil's Gun (Jayphie's Groove 2016) C J & CO +++++ Every morning during lock-down I've been listening to http://www.discostudio54.com/ which plays the best variety of disco tracks. Evelyn Champagne King - Shame Disco Mix Edited Back In 2007 By Mr. Turner https://hypeddit.com/track/9jarfc Disco is a genre of dance music and a subculture that emerged in the 1970s from the United States’ urban nightlife scene. Its sound is typified by four-on-the-floor beats, syncopated basslines, string sections, horns, electric piano, synthesizers, and electric rhythm guitars. Well-known disco artists include Donna Summer, Gloria Gaynor, the Bee Gees, Chic, KC and the Sunshine Band, Thelma Houston, Sister Sledge, The Trammps, the Village People and Michael Jackson. While performers and singers garnered public attention, record producers working behind the scenes played an important role in developing the genre. Films such as Saturday Night Fever (1977) and Thank God It's Friday (1978) contributed to disco's mainstream popularity. Disco started as a mixture of music from venues popular with African Americans, Hispanic and Latino Americans, Italian Americans, and LGBT people in Philadelphia and New York City during the late 1960s and early 1970s. Disco can be seen as a reaction by the 1960's counterculture to both the dominance of rock music and the stigmatization of dance music at the time. Several dance styles were developed during the period of disco's popularity in the United States, including “the Bump” and “the Hustle”. By the late 1970s, most major U.S. cities had thriving disco club scenes, and DJs would mix dance records at clubs such as Studio 54 in New York City, a venue popular among celebrities. Discothèque-goers often wore expensive, extravagant and sexy fashions. There was also a thriving drug subculture in the disco scene, particularly for drugs that would enhance the experience of dancing to the loud music and the flashing lights, such as cocaine and Quaaludes, the latter being so common in disco subculture that they were nicknamed "disco biscuits". Disco clubs were also associated with promiscuity as a reflection of the sexual revolution of this era in popular history. Disco was the last popular music movement driven by the baby boom generation. It declined as a major trend in popular music during the late 1970s. However, it was a key influence in the development of electronic dance music, house music, hip-hop, new wave and post-disco. While no new disco movement has dominated popular music since its decline, the style has had several revivals and the influence of disco remains strong across American and European pop music.
