In 1996, all that remained of 80s pop-rock behemoth Genesis was founding members Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford. The multi-platinum powerhouse that was frontman Phil Collins had left the band to pursue other projects, leaving the band in the same position it was left in when previous frontman Peter Gabriel jumped ship in the 1970s. Rather than take this as an opportunity to finally lay Genesis to rest, Banks and Rutherford regrouped with Stiltskin vocalist Ray Wilson and a crew of session musicians to go darker, with the 1997's Calling All Stations. Critics hated it, the general public was uninterested enough for the band to cancel a planned American tour around it, and it ultimately led to Genesis' disbanding. Was Calling All Stations truly "a formless blob of synth sounds"? Did Ray Wilson truly have "no confidence or personality"? That's what the goodboix Lee and Pat hope to figure out on this latest episode of Jukebox Zeroes. Join them on a journey full of post-grunge yarling, outdated synthesizers, and a clumsy Halloween tie-in. Featuring expired ham, drunk uncles, and the ukulele stylings of Softshoe Magoo. This Month's Local Artist Feature: "Timebear" by Titans Of Industry

Genesis Breyer P-Orridge has been one of my dearest and most human friends for the past few decades. Gen’s a musician, icon, cut-and-paste artist, occultist, and pandrogyne with whom I’ve worked and played in many ways over the years. Gen founded The Coum Transmissions, Throbbing Gristle, and Psychic TV, with whom I played keyboards in the early 2000’s. Gen also embarked on a very personal cut-and-paste experiment with partner Jackie, where they both sought to unite through psychic and physical remixing. Gen is currently challenged with a case of leukemia and has to stay close to the oxygen machine. But it seemed like a good excuse to bring out the portable recorder (generously funded by our Patreon subscribers!) and have a conversation. Visit the GoFundMe Campaign for Genesis Breyer P-Orridge https://www.gofundme.com/genesis-breyer-porridgeStephen decided to leave this mostly unedited, to give y’all a taste for what it’s like to sit in Gen’s apartment and just have a real conversation. Don’t worry, though - a conversation with Gen is a conversation about the fate of our species and reality itself. Please accept it as our holiday gift. -DouglasAll the music on today's show comes from Genesis' extensive catalog:Just Like Arcadia from Allegory and Self (PTV 1988)Caresse Song from Allegory and Self (PTV 1988)Distant Dreams-Part Two from Mission of Dead Souls (Throbbing Gristle)Thank You Part II from Thank You (PTV/PTV3 2011)Walkabout from 20 Jazz Funk Greats (Throbbing Gristle 1979 )Hot On The Heels of Love from 20 Jazz Funk Greats (Throbbing Gristle 1979)Lies and Then from Hell is Invisible, Heaven is Her/E (PTV3 - 2007 feat. An introduction to our new series 'ORIGINS - Stories of Hope from Genesis'. In this first talk Andrew Wilson, our Teaching Pastor, covers four key areas: the origin of everything (1:1-4), the origin of humanity (1:27-28), the origin of evil (3:4-7) and the origin of hope (3:15).
The Genesis-sized replica of Noah's Ark is just the beginning of Ark Encounter, Kentucky's new biblical theme park managed by the Christian apologist ministry, Answers in Genesis. Troyer Group are the architects behind the ark, with president and chair LeRoy Troyer as the lead architect. I spoke with LeRoy about the challenge of building a project with Biblical construction specs, as well as the inherent controversy of designing something that is meant as a kind of proof of concept for Answers in Genesis' ideology: that the Bible "is the true history book of the universe".
Our goal was to create a Podcast dedicated to keeping adults up to speed with music lingo. In this episode we break down the lyrics and meaning's behind O.T. Genesis' "CoCo", and Fetty Wap's "Trap Queen".
Adam Vinson, pastor and teaching elder of Sovereign Hope Church, began a teaching series on the book of Genesis. This sermon examines Genesis' teaching on being created in God's image
Genesis is a book of origins, as the name suggests, but it is in many ways more addressed in the New Testament than the Old Testament. Genesis, along with the next four books of the Bible, was substantially written by Moses, though some portions, such as the death of Moses in Deuteronomy, may have been written or edited by others. Genesis' origin differs profoundly from the Semitic origin stories of other cultures, which serves to highlight how different our faith is from that of other religions. Notably, the origin stories explain the gods emerge from the chaos. Genesis is suitable for instruction in the faith and not be dismissed.
