We were both led closer to Jesus and blessed with peace in our hearts. Even during the last two years on hospice in a nursing home. God was glorified by my wife's smile that often broke into laughter. Even in the midst of the storm of Alzheimer's, peace and wisdom was revealed as our spiritual eyes were opened and hearts awakened to know God's Word is truth that sets us free. Both lifelong Methodists and Nell the granddaughter of a renowned pastor and president of Southern Methodist University, Umphrey Lee, we were led on a faith journey closer to Jesus after the Methodist Church left us, shunning God's Word to embrace the sinful culture of the world. More than 7,500 churches in the United States alone left the denomination. A life-changing trip to the Creation Museum and Ark Encounter opened our eyes to the authority of Scripture – all of God's Word is truth. We were drawn to the Church of Christ, a New Testament Church founded on Biblical authority. If you would like a photo of the book cover or more information, please let me know. Author website: www.jscottyates.com Substack: https://jscottyates.substack.com/ New Memoir ‘Everything Is Going to Be All Right' Offers Hope and Faith Amid the Trials of Alzheimer's A Story of Love, Caregiving and Faith as Husband Chronicles His Wife's Battle with Alzheimer's RALEIGH, N.C. – In his debut memoir “Everything Is Going to Be All Right: A Faith Journey Through Alzheimer's”(published by WestBow Press), Scott Yates invites readers into an intimate story of love, loss, and spiritual endurance as he walks alongside his wife through the devastating progression of Alzheimer's disease. The book recounts the journey of Scott and Eleanor “Nell” Yates, two newspaper reporters who met early in their careers and built a life together centered on family, journalism and shared faith. Their lives changed dramatically when Nell was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2016. As the disease gradually took away her ability to communicate and live independently, Scott stepped into the demanding role of caregiver, navigating the challenges that accompany what many call “the long goodbye.” He faced the daily burdens many caregivers know well — exhaustion, grief and the painful realization that some challenges cannot be overcome through personal strength alone — yet, through it all, Scott discovered profound spiritual lessons. He came to see how suffering and uncertainty can draw people closer to God and deepen their trust in his guidance. During one especially meaningful moment in the nursing home, after Nell's speech had become largely incoherent due to aphasia, Scott rhetorically said, “Isn't it going to be amazing when we see Jesus face-to-face.” Nell suddenly spoke clearly and confidently to reassure her husband, telling him, “Everything is going to be all right.” That moment of clarity became the title, message and inspiration for this book. For the next year, Scott led a Bible study in the nursing home with other patients as Nell held his hand and shared her smiles. Scott was holding Nell's hand as she took her last breath, called home to see Jesus on the same day the book was published.

The Geneva Bible helped build America, and most Christians have never heard its story. Kirk traces the history of Bible translation from William Tyndale to the Pilgrims on the Mayflower, and why kings tried to burn and bury this book before it could reach ordinary people. The truth it contained was so dangerous that people smuggled it across borders, hid it in grain sacks, and read it by candlelight. No earthly authority owns your conscience. From the very beginning, the authority of God's Word has been under attack. God gave clear instruction in the Garden of Eden as recorded in Genesis 2:16 and following: "And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, 'Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat; But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.'" In Genesis chapter 3, the serpent spoke to Eve, "Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?" The serpent put this question in her mind to cause doubt and later countered what God said, "Ye shall not surely die." Tragically, Eve took of the fruit and ate it. She gave it to Adam, who also ate it, and thus sin entered into the world. We often look back and ask how could they do such a thing. Yet, in our secular world and in pulpits across the country, the same challenge is happening day after day, questioning the authority of the Scriptures. Returning to Crosstalk to answer this concern was Ken Ham. Ken is founder of Answers in Genesis and its life-changing attractions: the highly acclaimed Creation Museum and the world-renowned Ark Encounter. Ken is a biblical apologist and author of multiple books, including Divine Dilemma (understanding death, disease, and suffering); Divided Nation (about today's culture wars); Creation to Babel (a devotional commentary); The Lie: Unraveling the Myth: Evolution/Millions of Years and Miraculous: The Ken Ham and Answers in Genesis Story.

Is Christianity just one voice among many in today's culture—or is God's Word the ultimate authority for truth, morality, and meaning? The battle over culture isn't just political or social—it's spiritual. From questions of identity to attacks on the family and the church, these debates strike at the very heart of whether we will stand on the Bible or bow to the shifting winds of society. Join us for a conversation with Ken Ham, founder of Answers in Genesis, the Creation Museum, and the Ark Encounter. We'll explore why cultural apologetics matters, how Christians can engage without compromise, and what it takes to raise up the next generation to boldly defend their faith in a hostile world. Summary: In this episode, Dr. Michael Easley and Ken Ham have a candid conversation about faith, leadership, and navigating criticism. Together, they wrestle with the tension between personal responsibility, pure motives, and God's sovereignty—asking whether decisions truly glorify God or sometimes serve our own ambitions. Looking at biblical examples like Nehemiah, they explore the difference between bold faith and foolish presumption, and how leaders can step forward with courage while staying grounded in humility. Ken Ham shares personal stories of how God shaped his calling, from his early burdens to the building of the Creation Museum and Ark Encounter. He reflects on how criticism—especially from within the church—has tested but refined him, and how he's learned to measure faithfulness not by approval but by obedience to God's Word. Dr. Easley and Ham also highlight the importance of wise mentors, compassionate leadership, and learning to speak truth with both authority and grace. This conversation is a reminder that while opposition is inevitable, God uses it to strengthen our faith. Whether in ministry, family, or personal decisions, we're called to stand firm on God's Word, lead with humility, and trust that He will use us for His glory. Takeaways Leadership requires balancing humility with tenacity. Nehemiah models boldness rooted in God's glory, not self-promotion. True faith often looks like risk against conventional wisdom. Criticism—even from within the church—can refine character. Wise mentors help leaders grow in Christlikeness. God calls us to bold obedience, tempered with compassion. Summary: In this week's episode, we will explore the Bible's use of metaphorical language (such as symbolic numbers) to convey meaning rather than timelines. You'll also learn how the word yom in Genesis can mean either “day” or a longer period of time, showing that creation and the flood narratives are written to teach theological truths, not to serve as scientific accounts.Episode links:Nashville Rising: Our Story of the 2010 Flood: https://maps.nashville.gov/npl_2010FloodStory/Samuel Noah Kramer, "Reflections on the Mesopotamian Flood," Expedition Magazine 9, no. 4 (July, 1967): 15. https://www.penn.museum/sites/expedition/reflections-on-the-mesopotamian-flood/Map: Kingdom of Urartu: https://www.asor.org/resources/photo-collection/maps/mid000036Amanda's blog post about the Ark Encounter: https://redhairedarchaeologist.com/arkencounter/Red-Haired Archaeologist® links:First Friday Freebie: https://redhairedarchaeologist.myflodesk.com/firstfridayfreebieWebsite: https://redhairedarchaeologist.com/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/AmandaHopeHaley/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/amandahopehaley/ Book: https://stonesstillspeak.comLearn more about my fabulous video editor, Tanya Yaremkiv, by visiting her website at https://tanyaremkiv.com and listening to her podcast, Through the Bible podcast with Tanya Yaremkiv.

Our full-size Noah's Ark at the Ark Encounter depicts the ark as a massive wooden ship. Many people wonder why we didn't build the ark in a box shape.

Ken Ham, the man behind the Creation Museum and the Ark Encounter, is also the person media loves to hold up as an example of why people shouldn't believe the Bible. Specifically, what's targeted is his belief in a young earth, one that is a few thousand years old as opposed to more than 4.5 billion years old. Yet Ham never wavers from his belief in what the Bible says about creation, the age of the earth, evolution, and the like. On this episode of the Lighthouse Faith podcast, Ham doubles down on his conviction in the authority of the Bible in all things, and yes, even science. For instance, Ham says that regardless of what science has discovered about light may not be the complete picture of its inimitable qualities. The Bible says God created light, "And God said, 'Let there be light.'" But what God didn't tell us in Genesis is of light's wave/particle duality, or that the speed of light is 671 million miles per hour. Ham is a scientist; one who looks at the exact same data as any other trained expert. The difference is that, because of his belief in the authority of the Bible, Ham's conclusions diverge from conventional scientific thought. Learn more about your ad choices. Some people claim that the Bible is full of errors. Such comments center on things as the origin of man, the age of the earth or the idea of a worldwide flood. Then we have those folks who see the Bible as nothing more than a "good book." They claim that it has good moral teachings but they certainly can't take it seriously as a book of facts! How can Christians respond to those who believe such lies? Are we ourselves as grounded as we should be so we can stand for biblical truth? What evidence should we be aware of that will allow us to make such a stand for truth? Joining Dalton to help you answer these questions was Dr. Tim Chaffey. Dr. Chaffey is content manager of the attractions division at Answers in Genesis. He's responsible for overseeing the development of content for the exhibits at the Ark Encounter and the Creation Museum. He writes articles for the Answers in Genesis website and Answers Magazine. He holds a BS in biblical studies and theology, an MA in biblical and theological studies, a MDiv with an emphasis in apologetics and theology and a ThM in church history. He's also earned a doctor of ministry degree, specializing in advanced biblical and theological studies. He's been an author or co-author on more than 2 dozen books. From the mountain of archaeological evidence, the more than 200 flood legends from various civilizations, the biological evidence, the virgin birth...all that and more is discussed which shows the Bible to be God's truth. Also included is an update on what's happening at the Creation Museum and Ark Encounter!

This week on The Atrium Podcast, Pastors Neal and Chad react to a clip of Mark Driscoll's take on soft Christianity. They also recap last Sunday's sermon summary in the Gospel of Matthew: The Sermon on the Mount. To put a bow tie on it, they discuss their thoughts on several of Edwin's questions on the heels of him returning from the Ark Encounter experience. For example: "Were dinosaurs on the ark?" Ken Ham, founder of Answers in Genesis (AIG), joins Ray, E.Z., Mark, and Oscar to discuss the challenges Christian ministries face in an increasingly hostile world. Throughout his career, Ken has encountered opposition, yet he has seen God use these challenges to further the gospel. Protests outside The Ark Encounter are a regular occurrence, but instead of responding with anger, AIG staff members witness to protestors, demonstrating Christ's love. Ken shares that stepping out in faith, such as building The Ark, often seems insurmountable, but God makes a way. Ken's journey has been filled with trials, yet each step has reinforced his trust in God's provision. Historically, faith thrived in times of persecution. Ken explains that Christianity's influence in the West was once dominant, but secularism has eroded the foundation of biblical belief. Generation Z is increasingly distant from faith, though many in the church are awakening to the need for a stronger biblical foundation. A key point in the discussion is the importance of biblical authority. Ken explains that all reasoning is circular, but the Christian worldview is based on a virtuous circle, where the Bible provides a foundation for understanding reality. Without absolute truth, morality becomes subjective, forcing even non-believers to borrow from Christian principles when making moral claims.Ray reinforces the idea that opposition often fuels the spread of the gospel. The guys discuss how most non-Christians simply repeat arguments they have heard rather than forming well-reasoned objections. AIG equips believers with apologetics training, helping them defend their faith with clarity and confidence. Ken has written a devotional that merges apologetics with scripture, providing practical tools for engaging with a skeptical culture. Ken and the guys remind Christians that faith is not blind but responsible. Christians are called to step out in faith while using wisdom and discernment, trusting in God's sovereignty. Ken reminds believers that the ultimate solution to society's problems is the gospel. The discussion closes with a challenge to Christians to live fully for Christ. Athletes push themselves to their limits for temporary rewards, yet believers often hesitate to give their all for eternal purposes. Ken urges Christians to be all in, recognizing that every person they encounter is someone who will spend eternity either with or without Christ. With this urgency in mind, he encourages believers to go into the world with love, sharing the gospel fearlessly and pointing others to JesusSend us a textThanks for listening! Ken Ham joins Ray, E.Z., Mark, and Oscar to discuss the growing opposition to Christianity and how challenges can strengthen faith and spread the gospel. He shares how AIG faces protests but uses them as opportunities to witness with love. Reflecting on building The Ark Encounter, he explains that stepping out in faith can be daunting, but God provides. The discussion highlights Christianity's declining influence in the West, particularly among Generation Z, yet history shows faith thrives in times of persecution. Ken stresses the importance of biblical authority, as morality collapses without absolute truth. AIG equips believers with apologetics training to defend their faith confidently. The guys remind Christians that faith is not blind but responsible, and the ultimate solution to society's problems is the gospel. Ken challenges believers to live fully for Christ, sharing the gospel boldly and recognizing the eternal significance of every soul. Send us a textThanks for listening!
