This week's Nose thanks you for your underwear concern. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is a sequel to 2018's Black Panther. It is the seventh and final movie in Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the first phase of The Multiverse Saga. It is the 30th film overall in the MCU. I don't really know what most of that stuff means, but here's some stuff I do understand: Wakanda Forever is the fourth movie written and directed by Ryan Coogler. It's the second-highest grossing movie of 2022 at the domestic box office. And it's currently nominated for five Academy Awards. And: Poker Face is a howcatchem, case-of-the-week murder mystery series created by Rian Johnson. It follows Natasha Lyonne's Charlie, a woman who can always — always — tell when someone is lying. Five episodes are currently available on Peacock. We of course finish our run of horror, thriller and mystery movies with a film set on the holiday, itself -- Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers. Ashley, Matt and Grant discuss this '80s sequel to the John Carpenter classic.
Halloween is a series that spans 12 films, novels, comics, and saucy, saucy fan fiction... so saucy. But let's admit it, not all of the of them are good, right? In fact, some of them are pretty bad. Virtually no horror franchise is immune to weak installments, regardless how iconic. That is why Ade is acting as the public defender of sorts for the lesser Halloween films. In this last installment of Talktober, we feature each of the branching and divergent timelines. Curse of Thorn? We got you covered. Headmistress Laurie Strode? We've got opinions. But do not fret, we also touch on the tenets of the franchise that make them great too, including John Carpenter's formative works. We discuss the performances of many of the Michael Myers actors: Nick Castle, Tony Moran, Dick Warlock, George P. Wilbur, Don Shanks, Chris Durand, Brad Loree, Tyler Mane, and James Jude Courtney. We also ponder how Rick Rosenthal could have directed both Halloween II and Resurrection. Yeah, explain that one. We compare Rob Zombie's iteration of the Myers family to that of Blumhouse, but admittedly this episode was recorded before we had seen Halloween Kills. Also, remember that last year we did an entire episode on Season of the Witch, which is like, totes gnarly.
