Rising electricity rates across the country are adding pressure to families and businesses already dealing with inflation in other aspects of their lives. Most Americans get their power from a utility that needs to turn a profit for its investors. And people are fed up with the status quo. “Across the country, the utilities have just gotten greedy and are asking for more than they need,” says Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes. Some communities are considering cutting out the profit motive for utilities, taking on the complicated and expensive prospect of moving to public power. But switching from an investor-owned utility to public power is an uphill battle. What are other strategies for reining in corporate greed and making electricity more affordable? Sixteen games. Sixty-two goals. Two breathless weeks of UEFA Champions League playoff drama. Has Europe's elite competition ever been this entertaining? And with the away-goals rule gone and a new format delivering chaos, comebacks and late drama... Is this proof that the changes are good for football? On the other hand VAR is back under the spotlight too, after another hugely controversial decision involving Lloyd Kelly and Juventus. What needs to be done at the top to stop referees taking over the game? And then there's Newcastle United. It's been a monumental two years: Champions League knockout football and silverware secured for the first time in 70 years. Should Eddie Howe be receiving more credit? And should his name already be mentioned alongside club icons like Sir Bobby Robson and Kevin Keegan? The Rest Is Football is powered by Fuse Energy. Episode 223Bonkers - 16In January of 2026, ICU nurse Alex Pretti was killed in a violent confrontation with border patrol agents carrying out their duties in Minneapolis and corporate media pundit turned Youtuber Don Lemon allegedly participated in an anti-ICE protest inside of a church during a service. Pretti, who had been involved in violent encounters with ICE previously, became the new face and martyr of the political left, while others were quick to point out the violent bad-faith tactics of Minneapolis leadership, riot organizers, and Pretti himself. The country found itself in a feverish debate about ICE tactics in a political climate that overwhelming voted a more hardline approach to immigration enforcement. What power does the state have to push back against federal power? How do we handle radicalized protestors? Not to be outdone, Don Lemon filmed himself coordinating with professional protestors planning to disrupt a church service for ties one of the pastors has to ICE. Parishioners were subjected to loud, angry, profanity-laced chants from protestors and Youtubers alike while he weaseled himself from person to person in the name of "journalism", asking questions that basically amounted to "how do you feel about being an evil person who supports ICE?" The stunt shocked Christians everywhere in the nation, raising questions about the role of the church during civil unrest and where the limits are regarding the rights enshrined in the U.S. Constitution. Real Forno Show: Why a Mac Jones Trade Is ‘Bonkers' + Jordan Addison Trade Value — Tyler Forness and producer Dave break down Vikings trade chatter, blasting ESPN's proposed Mac Jones deal as an overpay in picks for an ill-fitting QB and arguing it would repeat a Kirk Cousins-style cycle. Michael Wolff joins Joanna Coles to focus on one of Donald Trump's most revealing tools: the telephone. Drawing on decades of firsthand experience—from Trump's landline calls to New York Magazine in the 1990s to rambling, unsolicited calls as president—Wolff explains why Trump is almost never off the phone, why he hates email and paper trails, and how calling isn't about exchanging information so much as asserting dominance, rehearsing grievances, and never being alone. It's a portrait of a man who governs, leaks, vents, and connects almost entirely by voice—using the phone as both comfort object and command center—and a revealing look at how Trump's constant talking shapes his politics, his relationships, and his presidency. Show Notes On this week's podcast, Dan and Kris board the SAG Cartoon Express once again! This time, they stopped at a particularly crummy episode of Super Mario World. Just how bad is a cartoon that accidentally swaps Mario and Luigi's color palates AND inexplicably makes a bunch of tiny Marios come out of a block? And why is Yoshi so annoying? Let's find out! Then, in Week Old News, Nintendo announces unreleased Virtual Boy games for Switch 2, the game industry seems to hate AI just as much as the rest of us, God of War finds its Zeus, and the Disney Afternoon finally gets Bonkers. Finally, in the Checkpoint, Kris finishes the excellent Adventure of Samsara, Dan bought a fancy coffee machine, watched Death of a Unicorn, and they both froze their butts off for the good of the show. January is fake, Michael Douglas is way too calm about child kidnapping, and Brittany Murphy deserved the world. This week on Put Your Books Down, Natalie Sanderson Jones and Angela Bingham spiral joyfully through seasonal despair, unearned cinematic confidence, long leather coats, emotionally unavailable therapists, dry lips, and the absolutely BONKERS ending of Don't Say a Word now that it's resurfaced on Netflix. We question why everyone in early-2000s thrillers reacts to trauma like it's a mild inconvenience, pitch the sequel Hollywood was too cowardly to make, mourn Brittany Murphy properly, and somehow end up planning late-in-life stand-up careers fueled by Gwyneth Paltrow permission and sheer audacity. It's movies, mental health, January rage, red carpet opinions, and one long love letter to being deeply unserious about everything. New episodes every week. Happy New Year Jokers! We've been doing this for nearly 5 years which is just BONKERS. If you loved the yam two-parter then you'll love today's bonus episode. Enjoy!
Capt. Kevin was off on some New Year’s OSR, but he checked in via the wonders of modern technology…to find Tru Luvin Fishing’s Domenic Paniccia sitting in his chair at the studio! As you can imagine, lots of fun and fishing talk ensued. Capt. Kirk shared the audio of a pack of yotes going BONKERS on his property…and why? Because something was in there with them, and one of those seems to have met an untimely end thanks to the beast that growls at the end of the clip. What was it – a bear? panther? BIGFOOT?!?!?!? Not sure what brought it up (maybe the New Year’s fireworks?), but the guys got to talking about flashlights and kicked around all kinds of recommendations. That led to this episode going really gear-heavy. Flashlights, artificial lures, knives…and more. Here's your L.V. Hiers gear tip of the week: Chris got the Handy Heater for Christmas this year. He was skeptical, but it really works! Cranks out the heat in a hurry, variable temp setting, auto shut-off, and a timer, too! Facebook
Clint Stoerner & Shain Bijani kick off the last hour with 5 O'Clock Fire as they update you on the latest Texans injury report & more! Also, college football is broken. Before the weekend gets here, Clint & Shaun got their predictions for the regular season finale between the Texans & Colts.

Welcome back to Lez Hang Out, the podcast that actually got Leigh to watch an entire season of a show the same year it was released! This week, co-hosts Leigh (@lshfoster) and Ellie (@elliebrigida) hang out to discuss one of the most talked-about new shows of 2025, Netflix's The Hunting Wives. This queer-baity murder-mystery novel turned actually-queer TV series, starring Malin Akerman (Margo) and Brittany Snow (Sophie), has completely taken over the gay internet. Whether you've seen a single episode of The Hunting Wives or not, you've 100% seen gifs of Margo and Sophie that are decidedly not safe for work. We had so many people reach out to us about this show that we simply could not leave 2025 behind without first talking about the Sophie and Margo of it all. We don't have wildly different opinions on shows all that often, but this one had Ellie absolutely obsessed and Leigh feeling deeply uncomfortable 80% of the time (although she still plans to watch the next season!). In Leigh's defense, the characters are all largely unlikeable hot messes and there are way too many creepy, gross men for any one show. Sophie is an alcoholic that could not make a good decision if her life depended on it and Margo is a predatory sex-addict– oh, and did we mention these wives basically all end up being murderers? Bonkers plot aside, the chemistry between Malin Akerman and absolutely anyone on screen with her at any given time is off the charts. Even if you can't buy into Margo's performative sexuality, there is no denying the chemistry between her and Brittany Snow. In season 2 we're hoping for a lot less of having to watch Margo sleep with high school boys and a lot more of Sophie taking ownership of her choices (and choosing to make gayer ones). Chinese state media hailed it as one of China's “Four Great Inventions” of modern times. Today, what most people remember are the graveyards. Or the thousands of bikes left on streets and public areas. In less than a year, 70+ bike-share startups burned billions of dollars to put 20+ million bikes on Chinese streets. It was insane. It was unsustainable. Oh boy. In this video, we dive into the bonkers Chinese bike-share bubble of 2017-2018.

What do a high-society murder, crossword puzzles, and a dysfunctional family have in common? We're back to recap and review a rather BONKERS movie from UPTV. We'll give you a full plot recap and the bottom-line verdict on whether it's worth the watch in our 'Gold or Coal' segment.Have you watched this one? Weigh in with your thoughts! We're wishing stoners young and old out there a joyous Season's Greetings with our BONKERS HOLIDAZE SPECIAL. Philena still hasn't seen WICKED: FOR GOOD but we got more than enough witches and weirdness for her with THE WONDERFUL WIZARD OF OZ from 1910, a silent wonder which condenses Dorothy's entire journey into just 13 baffling minutes! What this early (but not first) version of THE WIZARD OF OZ lacks in coherence, it more than makes up for with stoniness. Glinda turns Toto into a strange dog-beast, and the flying monkeys are replaced with a bat-winged frog nightmare! We not only tell you what to smoke with this one but also what to put on your playlist while you enjoy the confusion. THE WONDERFUL WIZARD OF OZ is public domain so it's streaming on YouTube, Archive and even TikTok! And speaking of barely coherent, our main feature is SANTA CLAUS, a brain-melting oddity from Mexico in 1959 where Santa Claus and Merlin must stop a pantaloons-clad Devil from wrecking Christmas. If you put this fantasia on at your family holiday gathering instead of LOVE ACTUALLY or whatever the normies watch this time of year, grandma will feel like she's stoned even if she doesn't have a medical marijuana prescription. This psychiatric experiment was directed by René Cardona, who later gave us such gruesome classics as NIGHT OF THE BLOODY APES (1969) and the cannibalism epic SURVIVE! (1976). Another public domain gem, so it's streaming everywhere but the print that's on Tubi is the best. We suggest watching with a crowd, but if the male loneliness epidemic has you down, here's the MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER 3000 episode that Cory watched: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nTWs3zvz1z4 We also talk about the Netflix merger with Warner Bros (but recorded it before the Ellisons got involved), the short-lived CASABLANCA TV series from the 80s, Greg watching BATTLE BEYOND THE STARS (1980) on his new mammoth 4K TV and ZOOTOPIA 2. Happy New Year's everybody and see you back in February 2026! Lair of the White Worm (1988) is picked by Dave this week, and it's one of those wonderfully unhinged British horror films that could only have come out of the'80s. Written and directed by Ken Russell, the movie was loosely based on Bram Stoker's 1911 novel of the same name - though in true Russell fashion, it quickly veered far from the source material and into surreal, erotic, and darkly comic territory. Produced by Vestron Pictures, the same studio behind Dirty Dancing and Return of the Living Dead, the film was made on a modest budget of around $2 million. Despite its low cost, Russell filled it with his signature visual flamboyance, blending Gothic horror, mythological imagery, and satirical British eccentricity into something uniquely chaotic.Filming took place in Derbyshire, England, using local countryside locations to give the film its haunting yet distinctly English atmosphere. The cast included a mix of rising and established talent - notably a young Hugh Grant, years before his rom-com fame, and Peter Capaldi, long before becoming Doctor Who. The movie was shot in just six weeks, with Russell working fast and loose, improvising many of the more bizarre scenes on set. Upon release, it divided critics: some praised its camp energy and gleeful weirdness, while others dismissed it as absurd. Over the years, though, Lair of the White Worm has achieved cult status - celebrated for its blend of folk horror, sensuality, and sheer outrageousness that only Ken Russell could deliver. If you enjoy the show, we have a Patreon, so become a supporter here.Referral links also help out the show if you were going to sign up:NordVPNNordPassTrailer Guy Plot SummaryIn the quiet English countryside, something ancient… something hungry… has awakened. When a strange discovery uncovers a dark legend, a group of unsuspecting locals is pulled into a world of hypnotic seduction, slithering evil, and serpentine terror. As ancient forces rise and modern reason crumbles, the line between myth and nightmare disappears - and no one is safe from the creature that has waited centuries to strike.Lair of the White Worm — brace yourself… this is one bite you won't walk away from.Fun FactsLair of the White Worm was one of Vestron Pictures' final horror productions before the company collapsed in the late 1980s.The film is very loosely based on Bram Stoker's novel of the same name — many critics note that only names and the central “worm” concept survive Ken Russell's adaptation.Amanda Donohoe, who plays the seductive Lady Sylvia Marsh, won the role after Russell saw her on stage in London and loved her bold, fearless screen presence. The movie contains several surreal hallucination sequences inspired by Ken Russell's own Catholic school upbringing, which he frequently mocked in his work.Hugh Grant has said that working with Russell early in his career taught him to embrace creative risks, even when the material was utterly bizarre. The white worm effects were achieved using hand-built animatronics and puppetry, combined with old-school editing tricks to hide limited movement.Costume designer Vicki Carroll created Lady Sylvia's iconic snake-themed outfits, including her famous white body paint and fanged headpiece. The film's soundtrack includes original music composed by Stanley Myers, who is also known for scoring The Deer Hunter. The movie was released unrated in the United States because the producers felt an MPAA rating would be impossible without severe cuts.thevhsstrikesback@gmail.comhttps://linktr.ee/vhsstrikesback

SANDCAST: Beach Volleyball with Tri Bourne and Travis Mewhirter
Welcome back to SANDCAST: Beach Volleyball with Tri Bourne and Travis Mewhirter, where Mewhirter is back on a late-night edition breaking down the 2025 Beach Volleyball World Championships, where Thursday turned positively bonkers. Where to start? How about with... - France's Arnaud Gauthier-Rat and Teo Rotar shocking medal favorites Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan - Germany's Nils Ehlers and Clemens Wickler figuring it out at the right time in a critical upset over Norway's Anders Mol and Christian Sorum - USA Volleyball's Chaim Schalk and James Shaw continuing their Cinderella run with an upset victory over Cuba's Jorge Alayo and Noslen Diaz But then, of course, there was some sense of normalcy, as: - Sweden's David Ahman and Jonatan Hellvig swept France's Remi Bassereau and Calvin Aye, while countrymen Elmer Andersson and Jacob Holting-Nilsson swept Andre and Renato - Melissa Humana-Paredes and Brandie Wilkerson continued their tour de force, as did Brazil's Barbara and Carol and Latvia's Tina Graudina and Anastasija Samoilova - Kelly Cheng and Molly Shaw left no doubt in a convincing win over the Czech Republic, and the Czech men, Ondrej Perusic and David Schweiner, left no doubt in their win over Portugal's Joao Pedrosa and Hugo Campos - Kristen Nuss and Taryn Brasher hang on to beat Raisa Schoon and Katja Stam Close calls were won by... - Evandro and Arthur, who snuck past Marco Krattiger and Leo Dillier - Sven Winter and Lukas Pfretzschner, who battled with Hendrik Mol and Mathias Berntsen - Thamela and Victoria, who slipped past a very talented Ukraine team in Tetiana Lazarenko and Daria Romaniuk And a huge bummer of an event in Ana Patricia and Duda pulling out to injury. While it benefited USA Volleyball's Julia Donlin and Lexy Denaburg, it was a massive bummer SHOOTS! *** WE'VE GOT MERCH! Check it out here!! Women are told to push through, smile, and keep producing—until the body says “enough.” In this Healthy Waves episode, Valerie Pedigo (Renewed Spirit Adventures) and cancer survivor–author Allison Pazuk break down a practical, science-meets-soul path back from burnout and crisis. We cover nervous system regulation you can try today, how community speeds healing, and Allison's BONKERS framework for self-advocacy during cancer care. If you lead, parent, or perform at a high level and feel the crash coming, this conversation gives you grounded next steps—rooted in breathwork, boundaries, and belonging. About the guests : Valerie Pedigo — Founder, Renewed Spirit Adventures. She helps high-achieving women recover from burnout through retreats, coaching, nervous-system-first tools, and an accessible sisterhood community. Allison Pazuk — Former math teacher turned entrepreneur, stage-3 ovarian cancer survivor, and author of Going Bonkers with Cancer. She created the BONKERS framework to help patients become CEOs of their own healing. Key takeaways: Burnout often hides behind “high capacity”; it accelerates when we disconnect from purpose and numb emotions. Community heals faster than isolation. Hearing parallel stories softens defenses, regulates breath, and reduces shame. Nervous system first: move from survival (fight/flight/freeze/fawn) to parasympathetic (rest/restore) before big decisions. Try Valerie's “I Am Held” breath cycle: Inhale nose 4 (“I am”), hold 4, exhale mouth 8 (“held”). Repeat x3 to create pause and aligned action. Identity reclamation is the crux. When women realign with values, work rhythms, relationships, and boundaries change—some things stay, some exit. Allison's BONKERS: Brave questions; Open to research; Non-conforming when needed; Kick-ass self-belief (e.g., “I am enough”); Emotional honesty; Resilience; Self-advocacy as the throughline. Be the CEO of your body: bring questions, ask “yeah, but how does this apply to me?”, review data, and decide collaboratively with clinicians. Mindset practices that compound: daily meditation, honest journaling, coaching/mentorship, and values-based choices that ripple outward to family and teams. Healing isn't perfection—it's consistent returns to breath, boundaries, and belonging.
