Lucas Anders interviews Jim Hosking (writer/director) about his new feature EBONY & IVORY. See the Canadian Premiere at the Calgary International Film Festival (CUFF) Saturday April 19th at 6:45 pm at the Globe Cinema. Director Jim Hosking, and actors Sky Elobar & Gil Gex will be in attendance for a post screening Q&A.You all know the song EBONY & IVORY. If you don't... Imagine two musical legends convene at a remote Scottish cottage to discuss a potential collaboration that may unite an entire generation.Stevie (Gil Gex, DANGEROUS MEN), a blind musical legend, sails to the Mull Of Kintyre to visit Paul (Sky Elobar, star of THE GREASY STRANGLER), another musical icon. What results is a tense summit to discuss a potential collaboration that will ultimately result in a Global Number One smash hit single. EBONY AND IVORY offers a highly fictionalized account of the first meeting between Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder as they get to know each other with the hope of sparking a future collaboration. In the horror community, the easiest way to show you are a fan is by what you wear. The horror T-shirt has been a staple in the fandom for what seems like forever. But it wasn't always like that. To say that fans have it easy today is a slight understatement. Not only in terms of their availability, but of the selection that is out there! It is an easy way to show the public that you are a card-carrying horror fan, whether you're wearing a Texas Chain Saw t-shirt, Cannibal Holocaust, or even a Night of the Living Dead shirt, it gives others that immediate notation that this person likes horror films. Fright Rags, one of the bigger horror T-shirt companies, has been around for over 2 decades, so we decided to ask owner/operator Ben Scrivens on the show to not only talk about the ins and outs of running a T-shirt company, but also to talk about our love of horror films and conventions. Films mentioned in this episode: Blood Sucking Freaks (1976), Braindead (1992), Bride of Re-Animator (1990), Burial Ground (1981), Cannibal Holocaust (1980), Christine (1983), Day of the Dead (1985), E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982), Evil Dead (1981), Evil Dead 2 (1987), Faces of Death (1978), Friday the 13th (1980), Friday the 13th Part 3 (1982), Friday the 13th: The New Blood (1988), The Gates of Hell (1980), The Greasy Strangler (2016), Halloween (1978), Halloween II (1981), Hellraiser (1987), House by the Cemetery (1981), Humanoids from the Deep (1980), I Spit on your Grave (1978), It's Alive (1974), Jaws 2 (1978), Jaws 3D (1983), Killer Klowns from Outer Space (1988), Let Sleeping Corpse Lie (1974), A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge (1985), Night of the Living Dead (1982), Q: The Winged Serpent (1982), Return of the Living Dead (1985), The Shining (1980), Tales from the Darkside (1990), Tenebrae (1982), Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 (1986), They Live (1988), The Thing (1982), Videodrome (1983), The Warriors (1979), The Wicker Man (1973)

It's a bitter sweet episode of Cult Film in Review as we say goodbye to a long-time member of the cast (for now?). We're also reviewing a film that is giving us a mix of emotions, the 2016 comedy, The Greasy Strangler. In this episode, we ask, “does purposeful bad acting require very good actors?” […] The post The Greasy Strangler – A Greasy Goodbye appeared first on Cult Film in Review.

'Cinema Degeneration Presents' is a podcast that aims to be an all-encompassing show that doesn't limit itself to one topic or genre. We'll be covering all sorts of movies, books, music and more. There will be solo reviews and group chats with multiple different guest hosts and interviews. Sometimes there will be themed segments such as "How The F*#k Did That Get Made", "The Good, The Bad, The Independent", "Why Is That Not Eric Roberts?" and iterations of past shows like Old Not Obsolete and This Is Your Brain On Film. For our 3rd episode we are bringing you a celebration of the truly weird and utterly independent with a double feature of reviews. Starting off the festivities our hosts Cameron Scott and Marcus Koch review the 2016 slippery killer classick "THE GREASY STRANGLER" directed by Jim Hosking. This weird slice of fried gold horror comedy is such a wild ride that we highly recommend wearing your seatbelts. {You have been warned!} This review is followed by a "The Good, The Bad, The Independent" segment recorded back in 2020 with hosts and filmmakers Rebecca Rinehart and Cameron Scott during the height of the pandemic lockdown once thought lost to the hard drive overlords reviewing the 2018 anthology flick "Hi-Death" directed by such indie sensations as Brad Sykes, Tim Ritter, Amanda Payton, Todd Sheets and Anthony Catanese. Join us in celebration the truly mad and definitely weird.

The Blind Rage Podcast is ringing in the second week of July with Jim Hoskings' absurdist horror-comedy THE GREASY STRANGLER, one of the most insane films we've covered so far. Meet Big Braden, a middle-aged incel, who shares a filthy, mold-coated dwelling with his eccentric father Big Ronny. Together, they conduct disco walking tours, telling fabricated tales of the biggest acts of the ‘70s. It is on one such tour that Braden crosses paths with Janet. An explosive—and extraordinarily awkward—love affair immediately ensues. Creating a rift in the lovers' newfound bliss is the jealous and overbearing Big Ronny, not to mention a naked, grease-coated psychopath stalking the streets under the cover of night. Dubbed The Greasy Strangler, the menace attacks at random, collecting a host of mutilated bodies during his multiple wraths. Things take an nasty turn when Braden begins to suspect Big Ronny could quite possibly be The Greasy Strangler…

Bouphe pick! The director of this film describes it as “a mysterious man comes to a small town to perform a mysterious event and everybody is fascinated by him and everybody is in love with everybody else”. He also made The Greasy Strangler. It's awkward, weird, otherworldly, and like a dream you have after eating too much cheese.
