Send us a textOver a long career in musical theatre, Matthew Seadon-Young has performed in some of the most acclaimed productions in recent history including Marianne Elliott's gender-swapped 'Company' and Jamie Lloyd's hit production of 'Urinetown'. His latest venture sees him playing con-man Gordy in the UK premiere of 'Shucked' at Regent's Park Open Air Theatre. In our interview, Matthew shares with us his excitement at making his Regent's Park debut and at the start of Drew McOnie's tenure as Artistic Director. 'Shucked' was a huge success on Broadway and audiences are eagerly anticipating the transfer of Brandy Clark and Shane McAnally's joyful musical.  Jack O'Brien also makes his directorial debut at Regent's Park, and we hear Matthew talk about how the show has been adapted for the great outdoors. In this new interview with Matthew Seadon-Young, he shares his insight into the craft of carving out a career in musical theatre. Indeed since leaving Mountview, he's been seen in 'Les Miserables' and 'Billy Elliot' on the West End, 'Rockets and Blue Light' at the National Theatre and Manchester Royal Exchange as well as more recently 'The Baker's Wife' at the Menier Chocolate Factory. Sunset Boulevard is getting talked about again on social media for its impressive act 2 stunt - but not entirely for good reasons. The production, a revival of the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical in a bold new staging by Jamie Lloyd starring Nicole Scherzinger, recently began previews at the St James Theatre on Broadway in New York and has encountered a couple of issues with their updated 'route'. During the show's second act, its Olivier Award winning leading man Tom Francis sings the titular number via live video feed, and the nature of this moment has divided social media users, with many declaring it simply not viable on the comparatively intense streets of Manhattan. In today's episode Mickey-Jo is debunking some of the more dramatic responses to this as well as sharing some context about the history of this scene, the production itself, and my thoughts about its ongoing potential... • 00:00 | introduction 04:06 | what is Sunset Boulevard? 09:36 | what is *that* scene? 16:03 | the journey to Broadway 19:52 | what went wrong? • About Mickey-Jo: As one of the leading voices in theatre criticism on a social platform, Mickey-Jo is pioneering a new medium for a dwindling field. Welcome to an altogether new show here at Cinema Degneration we are calling "Without Warning." The theme for this show is unlike any other in our lineup. Hosted by Cinema Degeneration CEO Cameron Scott and his co-host, author, voiceover artist, and host of 'The Diabolical Index' Korey Dawson. The theme is simple: Scott calls Dawson out of the blue with no warning as to what the topic of conversation will be...without warning if you will. Scott will continuously test the overall skill and level of pop culture and movie expertise of Mr. Dawson with totally random topics including movies, literature, pop culture, music, art, comics and more. Dawson has absolutely no prior knowledge to these show topics and is going into the discussions totally blind. These shows are a hoot to record, and we hope as much fun for the audience to listen back to. The 7th episode show topic is on the most legendary of slasher franchises with the "FRIDAY THE 13TH FRANCHISE". Essentially you are all in for a deep dive discussion on the entire Friday the 13th film saga including the remake and Freddy VS Jason.  We'll talk all about the good, the bad, and the ugly. Topics range from lengthy debates on favorite characters, most memorable kill scenes, theories and tidbits and trivia, everything about ole Jason Voorhees (including our favorite version of Jason), Mama and Papa Voorhees, Tommy Jarvis, Creighton Duke, Roy, Crazy Ralph plus more. Included in the festivities are various rants and segways into topics such as the the Road Warrior, Halloween and Jamie Lloyd (in relation to F13), Freddy Krueger, Cheech & Chong, Sherlock Holmes, She's So Pretty 1 & 2, Real Men, Phantasm and much much more.  Join us!   "You're All Doomed!"

So join us as we go "Back in Time" to a show that opened last summer and then take it "Easy" with a show that just opened last week! Note: spoilers present throughout for both shows, along with discussion and spoilers for corresponding movies (00:00) Introduction (02:19) Back to the Future (22:31) Water for Elephants -- Despite Back to the Future winning the Olivier Award for Best Musical when it was in the West End, it ended up receiving lukewarm notices on Broadway. While we weren't impressed by many of the songs, it was still interesting to read through the song-by-song breakdown of the cast album (particularly that nugget of information about Jamie Lloyd being the original director). Cindy's impressions of circus-related stories hasn't been great, starting with the song in Matilda the Musical and peaking with Guillermo del Toro's Nightmare Alley. Some examples of the acrobatics in the show can be seen in the New York Times feature, as well as in their Good Morning America performance. If you ever wanted to know about running away to join the circus, Reddit has some answers for you. While this episode was recorded during late previews of Water for Elephants, reviews have since come out. Christine was shocked at Jesse Green's critic's pick and agreed much more with Sara Holdren's review on Vulture. While there's no cast album released yet, you can get a taste of more songs from the sitzprobe, part 1 and part 2. -- Music featured in this episode: Back to the Future: The Musical Apple Music / Spotify / Amazon Music Water for Elephants: Easy The Lion Has Got No Teeth Wild The Road Don't Make You Young — Follow us on Twitter and Instagram @BottomlessBway, our blog at https://bottomlessbway.home.blog, or email us at bottomlessbway@gmail.com! Mark and Kenny brainstorm Madonna assignment song ideas for the AIWTDITAM EP (including the soon-to-be classic ballad “Table for One” and “Meet Cute”) alongside another synth-fueled collaboration w/ Pharrell about the dance floor. Topics include Madonna's beating heart and climbing vocals, the revelations in the original Pharrell demo, Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger, victorian bodices, Emma Thompson, Jamie Lloyd's revival of SUNSET BOULEVARD, reality game shows, Grizabella, Paula Abdul, and the bootie breakdown. Plus, Kenny and Mark bust out some hot tamales and discuss the lost track “Ring My Bell” (not a cover of Anita Ward's classic). A little lower baby!

Paapa welcomed Jonny into his bijou dressing room in London's National Theatre and the conversation ranged over: drinking during a show, Paapa's risky superstition, how Jamie Lloyd doesn't want you to know where to stand, what a famous director in the audience can do to you, two actors nightmares that launched Paapa on the stage, separation anxiety and what it does to his brain and what onstage chemistry is and how to preserve it. Opinions were divided when this 80s horror flick sequel hit theaters, but the franchise demonstrated its unyielding commitment to advancing its storyline. While some fans appreciated the added complexity given to the unstoppable masked killer, others longed for the simplicity that made the original movie a timeless classic. As we witness the return of the mystifying Michael Myers, we are reminded of his baffling resilience, having survived his supposed final confrontation in the previous flick. The Halloween season is once again plunged into terror as “The Shape” unleashes his wrath. But this time, a mysterious and supernatural connection emerges between him and his young niece, Jamie Lloyd, adding layers to the horror as familial ties intertwine with the supernatural. So, brace yourself as Tim Williams and guest co-hosts, Charlie Cotter and Laramy Wells, once again return to the haunted Haddonfield, Illinois to discuss “Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers” from (1989) on this episode of the 80s Flick Flashback Podcast.
