On the Monday episode of the North Shore Drive podcast, presented by FanDuel and Edgar Snyder & Associates, the Post-Gazette's Adam Bittner and Christopher Carter discuss colleague Gerry Dulac's reporting on the Steelers' contract negotiations with Joey Porter Jr. Is there a chance the two sides won't reach an agreement on an extension before the season? How much is Porter Jr. realistically worth compared to other top corners like Patrick Surtain II, Derek Stingley Jr., Trent McDuffie and Sauce Gardner? And do the Steelers need him in their secondary with veterans like Jamel Dean and Jalen Ramsey aging and young players like Daylen Everette still finding their way? Our duo tackles those questions. Then later, Chris details his research on how realistic Mike McCarthy's goal of 55 touches per game can be for skill players including DK Metcalf, Michael Pittman Jr. and Jaylen Warren. And he explains how he feels Robert Spears-Jennings fits into Patrick Graham's defense following his most recent film study on the PG website. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. The Post-Gazette's Gerry Dulac and Christopher Carter report from Steelers OTAs at the team's South Side facility. The explain how younger players including Drew Allar, Will Howard and others are getting more work this week with older veterans now off until training camp at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe. Were Allar and Howard able to make the most of their reps with Aaron Rodgers and Mason Rudolph absent? Does Howard need to unseat Rudolph as Rodgers' primary backup to make the roster? Will GM Omar Khan and coach Mike McCarthy get enough value out of Darnell Washington following his extension last week to play alongside Pat Freiermuth for the long term? Is new DC Patrick Graham signaling intent to play more nickel defense with names like Jalen Ramsey, Joey Porter Jr., Jamel Dean, Jaquan Brisker and DeShon Elliott in the secondary? And what's the timeline for an extension for Porter Jr.? Our duo tackles those questions and more. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Post-Gazette Steelers insiders Gerry Dulac and Ray Fittipaldo report from Day 2 of the team's mandatory minicamp at its South Side facility. They react to the news that Nick Herbig has signed a lucrative contract extension. What does this mean for coach Mike McCarthy and DC Patrick Graham's defense moving forward? Could a move be made with T.J. Watt or Alex Highsmith, who both have significant contracts of their own at the same position? Or could GM Omar Khan really be looking to pay big money to all three moving forward? And what implications could Herbig's deal have on negotiations with other 2023 NFL draft class members including Joey Porter Jr., Darnell Washington and Keeanu Benton? Post-Gazette Steelers insiders Gerry Dulac and Ray Fittipaldo report from the first day of the team's mandatory minicamp at its South Side facility. Why was rookie CB Daylen Everette a frequent target for QB Aaron Rodgers and WR DK Metcalf in drills? And how did he perform? Adam Crowley and Dorin Dickerson reported on The Fan Morning Show reported Aaron Rodgers will be in Pittsburgh this week. On the Wednesday edition of the North Shore Drive podcast, presented by FanDuel and Edger Snyder & Associates, host Adam Bittner and guest Christopher Carter ponder lessons the Steelers can learn from past competitions between young QBs. They reference colleague Ray Fittipaldo's story in which he looked back on battles between Brian Brohm and Matt Flynn with the packers; Kirk Cousins and Robert Griffin III with the Commanders; and Brock Purdy and Trey Lance with the 49ers. Can Drew Allar and/or Will Howard replicate the success Flynn, Cousins and Purdy had as later round QBs? Does Howard have the historical edge as the player drafted lower? And what does Allar need to show at rookie minicamp alongside names like Max Iheanachor, Germie Bernard and Gennings Dunker? Our duo tackles those questions, then talks Aaron Rodgers future after colleague Gerry Dulac reported this week that the patience of Steelers brass including GM Omar Khan and coach Mike McCarthy is wearing thin with the former MVP. Gerry Dulac is reporting that the Steelers patience with Aaron Rodgers is getting thin. If Rodgers doesn't give them an answer by the middle of May, there could be something more than frustration. Bob thinks it's still on the board that Rodgers retires. Joe thinks this may aggravate Rodgers and Joe wonders if the Steelers are trying to aggravate Rodgers.
April 29, 2026 - Season 16, Episode 129 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Wednesday morning show, Alex Kozora and I get right into discussing the Pittsburgh Steelers and the recent roster moves the team has made. We discuss DL Dean Lowry deciding not to sign just yet and the Steelers cutting WR/QB John Rhys Plumlee on Tuesday. We also discuss the roster total number entering Wednesday. The Steelers surprised a lot of people on Tuesday when they placed an unrestricted free agent tender on QB Aaron Rodgers. Because of that move, Alex and I discuss the who, what, when and where related to the transaction. We attempt to clarify everything related to the tender and how it relates to the compensatory draft pick formula. Alex and I also discuss how Rodgers might take the tender transaction in addition to us building a short list of teams that might potentially consider signing Rodgers before July 22. Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette seems pretty convinced that the Steelers won't go into the regular season with young quarterbacks Will Howard and Drew Allar as the only two backups behind Rodgers should he ultimately re-sign with the team. We give our thoughts on what Dulac said on the topic during the middle of this show. Later in this show, Alex and I reveal our initial 53-man roster predictions for the 2026 season now that the draft has concluded. We highlight our few differences and go over our reasons for them. This 111-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted in the recap above and we end this show by answering a few emails we have received from listeners. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. April 7, 2026 - Season 16, Episode 116 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Monday morning show, Alex Kozora and I get right into discussing the offseason schedule that the Pittsburgh Steelers released since our last show. We go over how it differs this year and how we are still awaiting the dates of the team's rookie minicamp. Tony Pauline recently had an update on former Indiana WR Omar Cooper Jr. as it relates to him potentially being the Steelers' first round selection this year, so we go over that little tidbit. Alex and I also look at two other wide receivers in this year's draft class, Elijah Sarratt out of Indiana and Denzel Boston out of Washington, as it relates to them both checking a ton of boxes when it comes to what the Steelers look for from measurable and testing standpoints. Is former Miami QB Carson Beck a legitimate draft option for the Steelers this year? We address that question on the heels of something posted recently by Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Alex and I also look at how many boxes that Beck checks on the old list of qualities that Bill Parcells used to adhere to. As part of those boxes checked conversation, Alex and I name several other quarterbacks that fit that list. Alex recently graded all the notable offseason free agent additions made by the Steelers up until this point, so we go over each of those and where we slightly differ with each player. This 89-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted in the recap above and we end this show by answering several emails we received from listeners. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. April 2 – Ep. 96: For today's episode, Joe Clark and Ross McCorkle discuss several topics from Mike McCarthy's media tour at the annual coaches meeting in Pheonix. Next, we talk about the latest developments in the backup QB market including Kirk Cousins signing with the Las Vegas Raiders. Does this increase the Steelers' chances of drafting a QB? We debate that question and more. We also look at Gerry Dulac's suggestion that a first-round tight end could be in play and what that means for the Steelers. We wrap up the show with a listener question about Mike McCarthy's absence from the Pro Day circuit. April 1, 2026 - Season 16, Episode 114 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Wednesday morning show, Alex Kozora and I get right into discussing the several things that Pittsburgh Steelers HC Mike McCarthy and team president Art Rooney II both said in recent interviews while the two were in Arizona for the NFL's annual league meetings. We first discuss whether Rooney II indeed now has a firm deadline for a decision by QB Aaron Rodgers. We also discuss what McCarthy has said recently about his conversations with Rodgers. McCarthy talked more about Steelers QB Will Howard the last few days, so we go over those quates. We also discuss McCarthy talking more about the kind of wide receiver he might be looking for in this year's draft. As part of that wide receiver discussion, Alex and I look back at some measurables from that position group that McCarthy has previously drafted while he was the head coach of the Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys. We compare those measurable averages to several top wide receivers in this year's draft class. Will McCarthy, Khan, or both show up at the Indiana pro day on Wednesday? We discuss that question in addition to what McCarthy said recently about only attending one pro day so far even though he had planned to make six of them this offseason. After wrapping up all the things that McCarthy and Rooney have recently said, Alex and I discuss the probability of the Steelers selecting a quarterback in this year's draft. We look at what McCarthy seems to be looking for as far as quarterback measurables and how former Arkansas QB Taylen Green fits those. Green, by the way, is reportedly scheduled to come to Pittsburgh for a pre-drafty visit. The Steelers are also reportedly bringing in former Memphis OT Travis Burke for a pre-draft visit, so Alex and I discuss what we know about him and how he might be a day-three selection candidate for the team later this month. Alex recently spotted several key members from the Steelers at the Tennessee pro day so on the heels of those sightings, we discuss the two top cornerbacks from that school and the possibility of the Steelers selecting one of them in the first round later this month. Would the Steelers really consider selecting former Oregon TE Kenyon Sadiq in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft? We address that question thanks to recent comments made in an online chat by Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. This 99-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted in the above recap and we end this show by answering several emails we received from listeners. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices.
