The Penguins made one small move, McCutchen signs a minor league deal with Rangers and Rodgers says nothing ahead of free agency

Dubas' Discourse – We listened to what Kyle Dubas said to the media today following the NHL Trade Deadline. Open Phone Friday.

Steelers correspondent Mark Kaboly from the Pat McAfee Show joined the show. Where do the Steelers stand on Aaron Rodgers? Mark doesn't think the team will set a deadline, but the anticipation is that it will happen soon. What would have to happen for the Steelers to let Mason Rudolph and Will Howard drive the car? Mark insisted that Rodgers is still the Plan A for 2026. Mark isn't wiping a trade off the table that could happen over the weekend, like the DK Metcalf move from last year. More w/ Mark – Mark said Will Howard has the lovable personality which is a reason why he has so many fans without taking a snap as a rookie. Mark liked that Howard was present around the facility while he was on IR and thinks the players appreciate his attention to detail. The guys went through a list of pending UFAs and doesn't think many, if any, come back in 2026. He said Isaac Seumalo walking out the door is a team decision. Mark said Rachaad White would be an interesting name to look for. Will the Steelers bring back any of their depth defensive linemen? More w/ Mark – The guys made Kaboom try KFC jelly beans. Mark discussed his love for the word ‘gimmick.' Which outside free agents does Mark think will end up in Pittsburgh? Mark thinks a veteran guard will find his way to Pittsburgh and perhaps a former Browns OL. Mark said he wouldn't rule out anything with Omar Khan.

Was the NHL Trade Deadline a dud? Not just for the Penguins, but the entire league was pretty quiet. NHL Network spent time breaking down the Penguins deal for a guy that has 3 points this season. The talking heads gave the Pens props for this move and said Kyle Dubas may have put together the best 4th line in the NHL. A recap of the 2026 NHL Trade Deadline. Did the Penguins do enough? Donny Football Debrief – If the Steelers get bad news on Broderick Jones, could they look into Taylor Decker as a 1-year stopgap? A massive LT visited the team today as part of the pre-draft process. Could they consider tackle in the 1st round again? Will we see an NFL player box Logan Paul?

We are 1 hour away from the NHL Trade Deadline. The Penguins have yet to make a move. Will they? Is it a failure on the part of Kyle Dubas if they stand pat? Could a small move pay big dividends the way some of the others have for Dubas this season? We also reacted to the Evgeni Malkin play from last night that could end up in suspension and Sidney Crosby practicing today. Would you rather the Penguins make a splashy buy or a splashy sell? The guys are OK if a little deal is made. BREAKING: The Penguins have acquired Elmer Soderblom from the Red Wings for a 3rd round pick. Elmer is a massive human – 6'8, 252 pounds, but has just 3 points all season. Steelers insider Nick Farabaugh from Penn Live dot com joined the show for some Fair Game w/ Farabaugh. Nick doesn't expect us to know the answer to the QB question on Monday, but maybe by the end of next week. Who is dictating terms here? Nick said the Steelers probably won't offer Aaron Rodgers anything until he makes it clear that he wants to play. What will the contract look like for Malik Willis and is it too steep for the Steelers? Nick thinks Omar Khan and Mike McCarthy are in lockstep here and they want Rodgers back. Nick thinks the Steelers will add 2 WR in free agency and 2-3 in the draft. He expects them to make a signing ‘pretty early' into free agency on Monday, but doesn't expect it to be a ‘big' name right away. Nick thinks the WR on the trade market are likely too rich for the Steelers to make a play on. Jalen Tolbert is a name Nick mentioned – citing his ties to McCarthy from Dallas. Nick doesn't think the Steelers are going to be too aggressive in pursuit of Kenneth Walker, but expects them to be active in the secondary RB market.

Poni's 5 Steelers free agent targets: Tyler Allgeier, Romeo Doubs, Wan'Dale Robinson, Greg Newsome and Andre Cisco. Pirates insider Jason Mackey joined the show. Jason reacted to Andrew McCutchen signing a minor league deal with the Rangers. He stands behind the Pirates making the right move by letting Cutch walk this time around. Jason isn't sure how the Pirates ever cool these waters with Cutch and what it could look like if he balls out in Texas. Jason gets the feel that Konnor Griffin is bound for Triple A based on how the spring has gone so far. Jason doesn't think Griffin will be upset by the move because it could be the right move for him right now. Who is Tyler Callihan and why did the Pirates let go of a reliever for him? Jason said Justin Lawrence opened some eyes this spring coming off an injury that cut short 2025. Total Request Thursday.

Poni has the feeling the Steelers are going to sign Kenneth Walker early in free agency. The Super Bowl MVP that was great for the Seahawks this season and in the playoffs. His projection is $9M/year. Is that too much for a RB in 2026? What does that mean for Jaylen Warren? This year there will be a ‘PM Team Contributor of the Year' tournament to celebrate March Madness. Donny Football Debrief – Daniel Jeremiah has released a new Top 50. There is a new WR inside the top 20. We also revisited some good draft takes from year's past.

The Bills made a move for DJ Moore today, sending a 2nd round pick to the Bears in the exchange. This just reset the trade market as AJ Brown could be the next guy on the move. Is Moore better than DK Metcalf? The price seems pretty cheap, in terms of trade capital, for the Bills, but maybe they are close enough with Josh Allen to get over the top. Did Omar Khan make the right move standing pat? KDKA TV's Bob Pompeani joined the show. Bob said it's tough to gauge if Aaron Rodgers will be back again. The guys made Bob grade potential QBs that could be the Week 1 starter in 2026. The guys asked what advice he would give Pat McAfee if he ever asked. Pomp said Bob Costas and Bryant Gumbel are 2 of the best interviewers in sports media history. Pomp said Romeo Doubs would be his choice for the first free agent for the Steelers to sign. Bob doesn't think a pair of the pending free agents make it back to Pittsburgh. A few fun ones for Bob before we wrapped up. Power Rankings – 5 guys you want Steelers to re-sign.

We are 1 day away from the NHL Trade Deadline as the surprise Penguins are all of the sudden a buyer. But how big of one? Will the Pens go after someone as notable as Vincent Trocheck? We may see Kyle Dubas take it slow and not go overboard, even though the Pens need center help. Shane Wright was a name we broached – a center with the Kraken that is freshly 22-years-old and had 44 points last season. What should the Penguins do with Evgeni Malkin? The guys think it only makes sense to re-sign Geno after the season if he plays well and helps this team make it to the playoffs. Did Kyle Dubas already have another plan in his mind about Malkin before the Penguins season played out? Steelers insider Ray Fittipaldo from the PG joined the show. Ray could foresee Aaron Rodgers giving the Steelers an answer off-the-record like he did last year as this thing could string out for another year. Ray admitted that some of Rodgers' comments yesterday made the situation a little bit more ‘murky.' Ray doesn't expect this to be a question mark until June again this time around. Ray isn't sure how likely it is that any of the outside free agents would come in and be the Steelers QB. Ray talked about the chances Will Howard and Mason Rudolph have to steer the ship. Ray reminded the guys that they will not give Howard the keys without having seen him in any game action. The guys noted that Jacoby Brissett, despite a 1-11 record last season, had numbers eerily similar to Rodgers in 2025. Ray thinks Kenneth Gainwell will explore his market in free agency after winning team MVP. Chris gave Ray some WR names to pick from and he chose Romeo Doubs, thinking he'd be around $15M/year player. How much would the Steelers have to offer Calvin Austin to get him back? Ray said the versatility of Jalen Ramsey allows the Steelers to explore multiple avenues when it comes to the defensive backfield this offseason. Which WR is the best in this draft? Ray is surprised there wasn't more news around Carnell Tate running a 4.52 40-yard dash. Ray thinks WR is the first move the Steelers make on Monday, either via trade or free agency.

Pirates insider Jason Mackey joined the show. Jason reacted to Andrew McCutchen signing a minor league deal with the Rangers. Mullsy is duking it out with someone from the McAfee Show. He's tired of the dough-eyed optimism surrounding Will Howard before he ever throws a pass in the NFL. Poni is giddy because the more and more he thinks about it, the more he feels like the Steelers may not be held hostage here and maybe they are the side that isn't interested in another go with Aaron Rodgers. What other options are out there? 93.7 The Fan Sports Director Jeff Hathhorn joined the show. What did Jeff make of the Aaron Rodgers interview today with McAfee's guys? Jeff still believes the Steelers choice is to have Rodgers be their starting QB next season. Could money be a hold up here? Jeff doesn't get the feel that Malik Willis has a lot of smoke around him from the Steelers. Jeff said the focus from the team may be on 2027, but then what about Will Howard? Jeff recapped his week at the NFL Combine. He said Mike McCarthy loves QBs the way Jon Gruden does and every rookie prospect is going to have high praise after their meetings. Jeff doesn't see the Steelers going QB in the 1st round and could be counting on Ty Simpson slipping. Jeff expects Kenneth Gainwell to test the market and Isaac Seumalo to be gone once the legal tampering begins at noon on Monday. How are the Steelers going to attack WR? Jeff thinks CB could be an early selection in the draft. Judge Donny – Should the Steelers offer Malik Willis a 3-year, $70M deal?

Aditi spoke to members from a coaching staff today that are interested in Rodgers' services. Aditi doesn't think they have anything to lose if they go the Will Howard route. Aditi wondered if the Steelers will just hit the reset button and go with Howard. Aditi couldn't confidently answer if Rodgers will play – or play somewhere that isn't Pittsburgh. The guys ran through some WR that got freshly cut or could be available when we enter the new league year. Aditi doesn't think the price will be as high for Kenneth Gainwell as we may think just because of the market for RB. Donny Football Debrief – WR market looking flush. Lou Holtz passed away in the last hour.

How many other teams around the league will be interested in Rodgers? What do the markets look like for Malik Willis or Kyler Murray as we approach free agency? Will Murray be willing to be a backup somewhere that is more attractive than Pittsburgh? The guys asked Mike about a few different free agent WR with legal tampering opening up on Monday. Mike highlighted Alec Pierce as someone that can create explosive plays from anywhere. Are the Steelers about to lose their MVP from last season?

The guys asked Andy about working with his team in-game as it differs each year in this era of college athletics. Andy is hip to one of the fastest rising social media pages highlighting former college hoopers.

The guys asked Ryan about the news of Caleb Downs having a torn meniscus on his report from the combine. Ryan sees Jordyn Tyson as a late 1st round type player, so he should be on the board for the Steelers. Ryan told the guys he got zero buzz of Ty Simpson to the Steelers. Ryan has Eli Heidenreich as a Day 3 pick as a player that can play all over the place on offense.
