In this Sunday morning show, Alex Kozora and I get right to discussing the Pittsburgh Steelers on the heels of their Saturday night preseason game win against the Jacksonville Jaguars. After some initial overarching thoughts on the first preseason game, Alex and I roll through the additional players that did not play against the Jaguars due to injuries. We also go over the one injury the Steelers did sustain during the Saturday night preseason game that HC Mike Tomlin highlighted during his short postgame press conference. Alex and I then get into breaking down the Saturday night preseason game based only on the television copy, and we start on the offensive side of the football. We discuss the play of quarterbacks Mason Rudolph and Skyler Thompson on Saturday night and how both played well above the line. We discuss those two quarterbacks pushing the football down the field quite frequently in Jacksonville and also discuss the few touchdown passes from the game. Could Thompson potentially make the Steelers 53-man roster as the third string quarterback over rookie Will Howard? Might the Steelers consider placing Howard on the Reserve/Injured list to accommodate Thompson? How about the Steelers potentially trading Thompson before the start of the 2025 regular season? Howard has a fracture on a finger of his throwing hand, but surgery won't be necessary. A few reports are suggesting it is his pinky finger, which is probably the one you want it to be if you had to pick. There was also a brawl at today's practice. Juan Thornhill stoked the fires of the hype around the team's defense. How good can they be? 93.7 The Fan Sports Director Jeff Hathhorn joined the show. He said Roman Wilson had, maybe, his best day of camp. Jeff thinks Wilson's spot on the depth chart may be a piece of motivation from Mike Tomlin. Jeff said the offense looked fluid today with Aaron Rodgers dicing things up with some simple throws. Jeff mentioned Jack Sawyer and how he has size that doesn't get mentioned enough. What did Jeff make of the viral video of Rodgers moving around in drills? Jeff felt good about saying it was the best day for the offense and maybe the best overall day of camp. Jeff broke down a potential punter battle brewing.

Will Howard was presumably injured in practice today. Aaron Rodgers threw a pick that was a perfect pass that hit Connor Heyward in the facemask. Pirates broadcaster Greg Brown joined the show. Greg says that he was not shocked by any of the moves the Pirates made at the trade deadline. He also says that “there's something in there” with Jack Suwinski. Greg says that the leadership aspect of players is overrated, and he'd rather get young guys more at-bats. He says that moving Falter allowed for Oviedo to come up. Brown calls the Bednar and Hayes trades “gigantic” moves. He also says that he'd be surprised if Skenes wasn't open to re-signing here. Steelers correspondent Mark Kaboly from The Pat McAfee Show joined the show. Mark doesn't believe that Mullsy made 9 straight threes in a pickup game. The guys bring up Mark's controversial comment on the Mcafee show about throwing toilet paper away. Mark said they were just wipes. Mark says it is very unlikely that the Steelers would trade for Terry Mclaurin. Apparently, the Steelers have the second best odds to trade for Micah Parsons. More w/ Mark – The consensus is that Rodgers had his best practice as a Steeler yesterday. Kaboly says that he was getting his best protection yet yesterday. He also says that the offense was terrible on Wednesday and was probably motivated to bounce back. Broderick Jones is currently hurt and has not been on the field. Mark finds it hard to believe that Broderick will get benched this season because the options behind him are not good. Fans were excited whenever Aaron Rodgers completed a pass over the middle of the field. Kaboly says that Payton Wilson has taken it to the next level in training camp so far. He also expects a positional battle between Juan Thornhill and Chuck Clark. More w/ Mark – Mark says that Will Howard looks better than what a 6th round QB should look like in his first camp. He says the Steelers think they got a steal, but not a ridiculous one. Mason Rudolph knows that he's not the starter, but he knows that he has to be ready if needed and ready to win.
