Former NFL quarterback and SiriusXM broadcaster Rich Gannon joined the show. Today is the debut of The Fan on SiriusXM, channel 169. Rich is friends with Mike McCarthy and is excited for him to be in Pittsburgh. He likes Will Howard thinks he has plenty of arm talent, plus can scramble. Rich thinks Drew Allar had some challenges around him in college and has good arm talent but is going to take reps and time.

We saw the introduction of Broderick Jones in Dallas yesterday after the Steelers sent him there via trade Saturday night in exchange for a 3rd and 6th round pick. The Steelers also sent a 4th rounder to the Cowboys. Jones didn't mince words – he said the Steelers screwed him up. Jones did a lot of moving around in his time here because the coaching staff pandered to Dan Moore time and time again. Is he right? The guys pointed out some recent Steelers that have gone elsewhere and thrived, to a degree. Names like Kevin Dotson and Devin Bush come to mind. That used to never be the case. Poni had a dog analogy to relate to the Steelers… but it never really did. Oh well. Former NFL QB Ben DiNucci from CBS Sports joined the show. Ben played under Mike McCarthy and was the perfect guy to ask about Big Mike keeping 4 QBs on the Steelers 53-man roster. Ben was the QB3 in his first year under McCarthy and he mostly stood around at practice until injuries forced him into the fire. So, what will it look like with 4 guys? Ben expects Aaron Rodgers to get a ton of reps as a guy who never really takes a practice off. Ben thinks McCarthy will still be the main coach for the QBs and it's not just an off-season thing. August 21, 2026 - Season 17, Episode 11 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Friday morning show Alex Kozora and I start by talking about the likelihood of the Pittsburgh Steelers trading CB Joey Porter Jr. before the season starts on the heels of the Thursday night report from NFL insider Jordan Schultz. We go over the overall plausibility of Porter being traded and the several boxes that would need to be checked before the Steelers even remotely considered dealing him to another team. Will the Steelers ultimately get a contract extension with Porter done prior to the start of the regular season? What if they don't and what if they also decide not to trade him because of that? Alex and I attempt to go down that discussion path early in this show. The Steelers will play their second preseason game Friday night against the New York Jets so ahead of that, Alex and I give our full preview of that contest and that includes several players and things we will be watching for this evening.
