What has better chances – Aaron Rodgers back at QB or Marcus Freeman as the new head coach? Ray isn't sure how much we see of Adam Thielen on Sunday, but doesn't think it would take all that much juggling. Ray said Roman Wilson and Ben Skowronek would see less playing time if Thielen cracks the lineup. Jon Gruden went on the Fan Morning Show that he would be shocked if Will Howard isn't a very good quarterback. Gruden said he wouldn't expect Howard to be on the bench much longer. Gruden thinks Omar Khan got a steal in the 6th. Chris Hoke thinks things would be different if Howard was a first-round pick, but Howard isn't going to play this year.

How do they keep finding these TEs? Michigan made a lot of young guy mistakes but also overcame them because they have kids who can step up. Max Bredeson for Heisman? PFF numbers on him don't capture what he does. The split stretch trap TD was a *READ* by Bredeson!!! Offensive philosophies: One school of thought (Lloyd, Harbaugh) is if you option you let the defense call the plays. Other school of thought (Chip, Malzahn) is take what they give you. Post-Gattis, M ran maybe three RPOs/season. Blake Frazier: Still not super strong but that agility is visible. Ryan Hayes as a RS Fr would have looked like this. In the break: Sam Webb's football career, Craig praises Seth/Brian, Seth says there are MSU guys who would do this sort of thing (e.g. Chris Vannini) if they had the fanbase to support it. Michigan fans want to KNOW more than they want to believe. DEFENSE USC gameplan vs the Washington gameplan. This was the Ohio State 2024 gameplan: play four against the run, 75% two-deep, lots of QQH, and invite the opponent to screw up. Will Howard, Demond Williams: these are college QBs. If you give them enough opportunities to make hard reads they'll screw up and throw it at a defender. This has gotta be hard for Wink because if you play this way against an NFL team you'll get shredded. Vanilla defense unlocked fast play from their linebackers. Yay Michigan went away from Bear fronts against 2 TEs on the field. This is hard for Wink, but he's not good at disguising fire blitzes, and believes he does. Got away with it at the Ravens because he had great man coverage defenders. He needs to use less of them to keep them effective. They still got taken advantage of on passing downs in this game. Edge defense: only one Barham went too high incident, which is VERY GOOD! Hutch would have games with 1 or 2 and I'd praise him to the heavens. Need to calibrate. M mixing more man into their coverages. Jordan Young out there at the end of the half—that kind of stuff has to stop. Young is young Rod Moore, but at this stage it's Rod against Washington in 2021 not Rod against OSU—Rod needed time to become the guy who could start against Ohio State.

August 29, 2025 - Season 16, Episode 17 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Friday morning show, which was recorded late Thursday night, Alex Kozora and I get right to discussing the Dallas Cowboys trading LB Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers earlier in the day. We go over several things related to the Pittsburgh Steelers as a result of Parsons being traded to the Packers and how the Cowboys managed the situation and negotiations with the player. Alex and I discuss the differences between Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and Steelers president Art Rooney II when it comes to how often each meets with the media. Alex and I also discuss how Parsons' agent is the same one that Cowboys WR George Pickens has. After discussing Parsons being traded, Alex and I discuss WR Marquez Valdes-Scantlingchoosing to sign with the San Francisco 49ers as a member of their practice squad following Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers reportedly recruiting him to sign with Pittsburgh. We discuss the possibility of Valdes-Scantling staying with the 49ers all season and whether there is still a chance he could wind up with the Steelers at some point in 2025. The Steelers have now established their initial practice squad for 2025, so Alex and I discuss the 17 players that have now been signed to that unit. August 10, 2025 - Season 16, Episode 8 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Sunday morning show, Alex Kozora and I get right to discussing the Pittsburgh Steelers on the heels of their Saturday night preseason game win against the Jacksonville Jaguars. After some initial overarching thoughts on the first preseason game, Alex and I roll through the additional players that did not play against the Jaguars due to injuries. We also go over the one injury the Steelers did sustain during the Saturday night preseason game that HC Mike Tomlin highlighted during his short postgame press conference. Alex and I then get into breaking down the Saturday night preseason game based only on the television copy, and we start on the offensive side of the football. We discuss the play of quarterbacks Mason Rudolph and Skyler Thompson on Saturday night and how both played well above the line. We discuss those two quarterbacks pushing the football down the field quite frequently in Jacksonville and also discuss the few touchdown passes from the game. Could Thompson potentially make the Steelers 53-man roster as the third string quarterback over rookie Will Howard? Might the Steelers consider placing Howard on the Reserve/Injured list to accommodate Thompson? How about the Steelers potentially trading Thompson before the start of the 2025 regular season?
