PM Team Sports Court w/ our friends from Edgar Snyder & Associates. Were action movies better in the 80s and 90s? Was the series against the Phillies just a ‘bump in the road' for the Pirates? How bad is the Buccos bullpen? Do the guys think Carmen Mlodzinski should go to the ‘pen when Jared Jones is back? How much different will the Steelers offense look? Do Donny and Chris deserve to be mad about Poni not sharing his betting nugget before winning big on the PGA Championship?
The Pirates have called up Jhostynxon Garcia ahead of their series against the Cardinals. Garcia had a monster game in his return to Triple A and with the injury to Ryan O'Hearn, the Buccos have promoted their #4 overall prospect. How often should the Pirates trot him out there? He will hit 6th tonight and play in RF. What does the lineup look like with Garcia in it? Chris is not happy about Jared Triolo still being in the lineup. Would you rather see Billy Cook at 1B? It would be quite the time for Marcell Ozuna to step up.
New Steelers OC Brian Angelichio spoke to the media earlier today, and even though he will be a figurehead in his position with Mike McCarthy truly running the offense, is there reason to feel more optimistic about the Steelers offense in 2026? We are outside of the shell we've known for 2 decades that could allow the offense to open up a bit more than we have seen in the last few years. Is there reason for optimism? Will Aaron Rodgers trust the system? Is there reason to believe the Steelers offense will be a lot better in 2026? PM Team Sports Court w/ our friends from Edgar Snyder & Associates. A disastrous weekend at PNC Park as the Pirates were swept by the Phillies. The Phils have turned their season completely around under Don Mattingly. Their stars showed up this weekend, with Bryce Harper and a couple of aces, making huge impacts. Is this the beginning of the end for the Buccos or is it just a bad stretch? The Pirates offense showed nothing in the games on Saturday and Sunday, but the game on Friday may sting for a while. The Pirates are 5 games back in the NL Central after this weekend. And Ryan O'Hearn is out for at least a month. It felt like a litmus test for the Pirates and they failed. What are they going to do with this bullpen?
Former MLB pitcher Matt Clement joined the show. Matt reacted to the Pirates being swept by the Phillies at PNC Park over the weekend. Can the Pirates get out of this slump quickly? Matt talked about the pair of Philly starters that shut down the Buccos on Saturday and Sunday. Is Jhostynxon Garcia going to be the player called up to fill the injury void left by Ryan O'Hearn?

93.7 The Fan Sports Director Jeff Hathhorn joined the show. Jeff reacted to Konnor Griffin moving up to #2 in the lineup tonight as the Buccos play a lefty. If Marcel Ozuna doesn't pick it up by month's end, is he in trouble of losing his role entirely? There's an update on Jared Jones and it's that he is refusing to answer questions about pitching out of the bullpen. Jeff didn't want to criticize fans for not being at the ballpark last night due to the current economic climate.

The Pirates have been swept by the Cardinals at PNC Park and have lost 5 in-a-row. What are the biggest issues? They had their opportunities to win and scored some runs in the series, but were they hollow scores? JJ Wetherholt hit 2 HR in his hometown, including a leadoff homer off Paul Skenes today. Are we already starting to see the Buccos' season crumble? Fans sound off following the Pirates' 5th straight loss. Manager's Minute – What did Don Kelly say to the media after today's game?
Pirates insider Jason Mackey joined the show. We know a bad Paul Skenes outing is an outlier, but what are some of the real problems the Pirates have? Jason isn't overly concerned about Dennis Santana, but thinks that could just be switching the closer role around every other day. Bubba Chandler has been disappointing thus far. How much longer can they wait on Marcell Ozuna to turn things around? Jason said they have fallen short of the goal so far, even as a .500 team through April. We knew the Pirates defense wouldn't be good, but is there any shot it improves? The guys have some concern with Bryan Reynolds, who is known for slow starts.

The Pirates will see Andrew McCutchen tonight as the Buccos take on the Rangers. After the slow start for Marcell Ozuna, some fans made it known they were upset about seeing Cutch go. How's that aging in the last week or so? Are some fans going to want the Pirates to win, but Cutch to have a big game?
McCarthy's Mouthfuls – What did Mike McCarthy say to the media earlier today? Audibles & Analytics and Yinz Know Ball podcast host Jon Ledyard joined the show. Jon said the best-case scenario for the Steelers at 21 would be Vega Ioane to help finish up the offensive line. Jon thinks there is ‘minimal difference' between pick 10 and pick 30, in terms of prospect rank. He loves the middle portion of this draft, so it's nice that the Steelers have a lot of picks to use. Jon said Spencer Fano is a player he is starting to zone in on as a Steelers option on Thursday night. Is there a chance we see a run on tackles in the 1st round that could muddy the Steelers' waters? Jon doesn't love Denzel Boston as a separator, but that doesn't mean he can't be a good NFL WR. The guys asked Jon about the second day receivers that could develop into WR1 on a given team. Jon told people to have the name Jacob Rodriguez on their mind at 21 if the Steelers don't like what they have in their LB room. Bucco Minute – The Pirates will see Andrew McCutchen tonight as the Buccos take on the Rangers. After the slow start for Marcell Ozuna, some fans made it known they were upset about seeing Cutch go. How's that aging in the last week or so? Are some fans going to want the Pirates to win, but Cutch to have a big game?
Top 5 moments in the Penguins-Flyers rivalry. Steelers insider Nick Farabaugh from Penn Live dot com joined the show. Nick was confused for Donny the other night at the Pirates game. Nick said it's a limited pool of players that fit into the typical formula requirements leading up to the draft. Nick thinks it's more likely that Omar Cooper Jr. is the name called at 21 less than a week away from the 1st round. Nick still believes WR is the position they will go with because it's a group that features about 6 guys that have 1st round grades. Nick could see Makai Lemon sliding a little bit next Thursday, but it would still require a trade up. He thinks the Steelers moving up the board in the 2nd round is very likely. Nick pointed to the 99th overall pick as one the Steelers could use as a chess piece next week, unless they decided to draft a QB with that selection. Nick said the gap between Ty Simpson and the QB3 of this class is massive and he wouldn't be surprised if the rest of that crew falls to the 4th round. He said Drew Allar and Carson Beck have gotten so much consistent interest from the organization. Former Pirates pitcher AJ Burnett joined the show. AJ gave Chris some advice ahead of his first pitch tonight. The guys joked with AJ about the time he hit a truck driving behind home plate during his warmup. AJ said to throw at the body, not the glove. AJ said he was honored to take part in the city connect announcement last week and to be part of this game tonight. AJ described this Pirates team as a set of grinders that have done the little things to get the job done. AJ predicted a Konnor Griffin home run tonight and can't get over the size of the 19-year-old. AJ talked about how much his connection to the city of Pittsburgh means and the perfect fit it was way back when. He loves that he was part of the team that got the Pirates back to the playoffs for this city. AJ had advice for the young pitchers on the staff and how they can become the best version of themselves. AJ was pumped to see a lot of these guys in the spring when he sent a few days at the facility. He gave a breakdown of Bubba Chandler, who will start for the Buccos tonight.

Fans continued to sound off on the Pirates loss to the Nats, splitting the series at PNC Park. Pirates insider Jason Mackey joined the show. Tony Beasley is in the crosshairs after today's loss for what happened with Oneil Cruz at third base in the 9th inning. The guys went through some of the more frustrating parts of the game. Jason wondered why Joey Bart didn't take one on the elbow which would have won the Pirates the game. A little breakdown of the day from Konnor Griffin, which consisted of a tough gaffe trying to turn a double play and 2 hits at the dish. Jason said there was a weird rush to get Evan Sisk in the game in relief of Braxton Ashcraft. Jason was OK with the Pirates pitching to James Wood in the 10th as he proceeded to drive in the winning run. Manager's Minute – What did Don Kelly say after today's Pirates loss?
A very odd decision from Don Kelly last night that aided a Pirates loss to the Nationals. In a spot with the Pirates down 1 run and the bases loaded, Kelly chose to lift Brandon Lowe from the game in favor of Nick Yorke. Yorke proceeded to ground into a double play immediately. Lowe hit a home run earlier in the game, off a left-handed pitcher, but was taken out instead of facing one in that spot. To top it off, that spot in the order came up with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th and Yorke popped out in foul ground with the tying and winning runs on-base. The guys thought the move was very similar to ones we would see from Derek Shelton in the past. Is there any defense to the decision? Mitch Keller didn't have a good night, so we don't want to leave him off the hook here. Fans give takes on Don Kelly over-managing last night in a Buccos loss to the Nats. More calls reacting to the odd decision made by Don Kelly last night. And the throw by Jake Mangum shouldn't be forgotten.
16 runs last night for the Buccos in a 16-5 win over the Nationals. Joe Block and the boys were having fun. The Pirates have 10 wins, leaving only the billion-dollar Dodgers as the team with more victories so far in 2026. The Pirates have one of the more explosive offenses in baseball so far, but how long can they sustain it? The Pirates have had hot starts before, even as recently as 2024 when they started 19-8. The guys don't think this is all smoke and mirrors like the teams of the past. The rotation has been awesome a few times through and it gives them a chance every day. Are fans converting to Pirates fandom after the hot start? One caller thinks the 2026 Buccos are better than the 1979 World Series team. Mock of the Day – Vega Ioane is among the prospects visiting the Steelers today.
Pirates 1B Spencer Horwitz joined the show. Spencer hit his first home run of the season last night in a 16-run outburst from the Buccos in the opening game of the series against the Nationals. Spencer said the fun is contagious in the clubhouse right now as the team wins games, raises the cone and wears the welder mask. Spencer shouted out Billy Cook for being the guy that keeps the cone under safekeeping. Spencer talked about the hot start for Oneil Cruz and the work he put in before the season to bounce back in 2026. He got into what worked in the second half of last season, which had us saying Horwitz was the Pirates best hitter in 2025. The guys ran through some dudes on the roster and had Spencer describe them on & off the field. The guys had some fun with Spencer, as a Ravens fan, about the Steelers winning the AFC North this past season. How did Spencer spend his first offseason in Pittsburgh? NFL Draft analyst Ryan Wilson from CBS Sports joined the show. How could things break for the Steelers next Thursday in the 1st round of the NFL Draft? Ryan doesn't expect more than 3 WRs to be off the board, with the top guys like Carnell Tate and Makai Lemon as the only obvious ones. Ryan thinks the WR group is so deep that you can still find a future WR1 in the 2nd round. Ryan believes Vega Ioane is a potential Top 10 pick by the time we get there. Ryan pointed to Germie Bernard as a find entering the second night. What type of prospect is Spencer Fano and could he be a real option for the Steelers at 21? Ryan would not be stunned if the Steelers trade back into the 1st round if Ty Simpson is still on the board at the end of the night. What do some of these other offensive linemen look like that could be late risers before next Thursday? Ryan believes it could be injuries that push Jordyn Tyson down the board, who may be the best WR in the draft otherwise. Ryan said Jermod McCoy could be a name at 21 that attracts the Steelers. Taylen Green is one of the most intriguing prospects in the draft class, but what is his value as a great athlete that can't play QB all that well? Ryan said if you need to ask if any of these QBs are better than Will Howard then you probably shouldn't draft one. Ioane feels like a Ravens pick at 14, but he could slip to the Steelers. Donny Football Debrief – Where will we be setup for our NFL Draft coverage?
