Poni had a question for everyone to start today's show – where did the Mason Rudolph love come from? How much of the heavy lifting does the end of the 2023 season do? Chris said people love a comeback story going back to biblical days. Did he get a raw deal? People haven't seen him play bad football in Pittsburgh for a little while.
Are you starting to get excited, Pirates fans? The report from Jeff Passan the other day had us wondering if the Pirates would actually follow up on their lofty off-season expectations. The mood was pretty dire – questioning if it would be any different than the off-season's we are used to. Poni said he has heard it will be the ‘best off-season under Bob Nutting.' Well, we'll see about that. The Fan vs The Fans. Former Penguin Tyler Kennedy joined the show. The guys asked TK why he doesn't go on the Morning Show, but he's present on the others. Tyler said the weirdest guy he played hockey with was Brent Burns – sighting the extensive reptile collection and the quirky things he'd do. How many players are more superstitious than Sidney Crosby? There are reports that Evgeni Malkin will have a sit-down with Kyle Dubas to discuss future options, which could mean more Geno in a Penguins uniform.
Aaron Rodgers talked to the media today and the guys think that is a telltale sign that he will play on Sunday. Usually, a QB won't talk to the reporters if he isn't going to play a few days later. Poni posed the question – is Mason Rudolph the best backup QB in team history? He has more wins than Charlie Batch in backup duty. We looked back at some backup QBs in Steelers lore. Poni thinks Rudolph pulling Mike Tomlin and his team out of the ground in 2023 is something that could win him some tiebreakers. Does Tommy Maddox deserve any consideration? Former MLB pitcher Matt Clement joined the show. The guys asked Matt about the Pirates off-season rumors and if the team has any shot to make a mark. Matt went through some names the Pirates should truly pursue. He thinks, even though the staff is already strong, the Pirates should look into pitchers like Ranger Suarez if his market isn't as strong as expected. Matt said the Pirates can't wait too long with Paul Skenes on their roster and they need to show urgency. Is it a good idea for the Pirates to start Konnor Griffin out of the gate in 2026? Matt insisted the Pirates will bolster their starting rotation and could make other splashes, to a smaller degree. Mike Florio from Pro Football Talk joined the show. The guys asked Mike about his card collecting days and he explained why 1976 was a big year. Mike also gave quite an interesting take on an ice cream topping. Once the talk got to football, it turned to Aaron Rodgers and if he would play in Chicago on Sunday. Mike expects Rodgers to play and that he will do everything in his power to play against the Bears one more time. Mike thinks Rodgers is aware that this could be his final season, which could make it more difficult to keep him out of games. The guys asked Mike about the tussle between Ja'Marr Chase and Jalen Ramsey on Sunday, which resulted in Ramsey's ejection and Chase's suspension. How do officials walk the fine line of punches in games?
We have more of an answer on why the Steelers traded George Pickens. It wasn't the front office being at its wits end with him – it was his teammates. Poni thought Joe brought up a good point earlier today, questioning why any of these guys have the grounds to decide who is/isn't on the team since they haven't won a damn thing? How much of a say did Aaron Rodgers have in this (who wasn't on the roster when they made the trade)? ALL ACCESS w/ Aditi – Aditi doesn't believe the George Pickens trade will go down as the ‘worst' in Steelers history and sometimes a player just needs that change of scenery. Aditi referenced Baker Mayfield going through the same thing in Cleveland. Is it a smarter move for the Steelers to play Aaron Rodgers or Mason Rudolph on Sunday? She said Rodgers is the starter for a reason and an opponent like the Bears probably gets his juices flowing a little bit more. Donny Football Debrief – It's a little early for mock drafts, but this one got us a little excited.

Poni is coming around on playing Mason Rudolph on Sunday, noting how good he has been in his last few appearances with the Steelers. Does Rodgers make the Steelers chances of winning ‘much' better? Chris thinks if Mike Tomlin is going to play Rudolph then he should declare it right now and not leave the team guessing.
The insiders are getting the cold shoulder from Aaron Rodgers after leaking his injury news on Sunday night. Poni said he thinks the Rodgers honeymoon is over. He feels like the performance against the Chargers was enough to sour fans on the old man QB. Poni specified that this is the honeymoon with the fans, not with the organization. They compared it to a new-car smell and that the fans don't have that anymore with Rodgers. There is a sense that is why Mason Rudolph is getting a hero's welcome from fans.

Former Penguin Tyler Kennedy joined the show. TK said Erik Christensen had some of the best hands in hockey that he's ever seen – relating to the Penguins' struggles in shootouts. Tyler said the Penguins are starting to win him over, but the last 2 games have been very tough ones to lose. The guys discussed the difficulty between winning Stanley Cups back-to-back versus winning Cups a few years apart. Is Erik Karlsson a ‘born loser,' like Poni says? Would you take him over Kris Letang?
The Steelers activated Will Howard today. Is there any shot he becomes a good QB in the NFL? Or should we just look at the draft stock and give him no chance? It's easy to point to the Steelers as the blame here more than anything, but the guys discussed what he could look like if given an opportunity, referencing his numbers and what he had to work with at Ohio State. It doesn't sound like Pat Narduzzi is taking this matchup against Notre Dame very seriously, saying he doesn't care if they lose the game by 100 points, as long as they win the final 2 (against Georgia Tech and Miami). Why does it feel like the fans care more than the head coach? Is Narduzzi just doing a bit here in his downplay of the Fighting Irish? The guys wondered how Pitt's season could be rattled if they do get killed by Notre Dame on Saturday. Poni is worried about Desmond Reid being held out if Pat doesn't see it as a big game. How are Pitt fans feeling going into the Notre Dame game? Is this the biggest game Pat Narduzzi has coached in Pittsburgh? Mike Florio from Pro Football Talk joined the show. Mike puts a low percentage on a Mike Tomlin trade because it would require Tomlin's want to do it, but also because the Steelers take such pride in only have 3 coaches in 50+ years. Mike said there will always be a team out there that is interested in having what the Steelers always have – being in playoff contention every year. Mike expects Tomlin to always have options, but doesn't think it would be half of the league bowing down to have his services. Are the Giants an attractive job with Jaxson Dart at QB? Mike doesn't sense any appetite in the Steelers to make a change. Jakobi Meyers is the only WR Mike heard the Steelers were in on at the deadline. Mike was confused by Tomlin saying it wasn't an ‘off night' for Aaron Rodgers, but not being concerned about his long-term performance. The guys caught Mike by surprise when they brought up the New York Post story regarding his wife and how the Steelers' wives/girlfriends have no proof of her existence. Mike said Asante Samuel Jr. was in-demand around the league and credited the Steelers for making a low-risk move.

Mike Tomlin isn't worried about Aaron Rodgers after the other night. Poni thinks it was a bad enough game to scare him about the season's future with him at QB. At what point are we ready for Mason Rudolph? There should be bounce back games against the Bengals and Bears, given their defenses. Even if the Steelers go to Rudolph and he bails them out again, it still makes Tomlin look bad. What would the threshold have to be for you to bench Rodgers?

Aaron Rodgers urged people not to panic after yesterday's bad loss to the Chargers. Will the Steelers get to 9 wins to extend Tomlin's streak? Poni thinks that there is a real chance that Rodgers is the first QB under Mike Tomlin to have a losing record. Mike Tomlin was very upset by a certain question in his presser after the game. Kenneth Gainwell out-snapped Jaylen Warren last night. Calls. PIT-LAC Game Balls. Game ball number 3 goes to Donte Jackson, who picked off Aaron Rodgers and did a good job covering DK Metcalf. Game ball 2 goes to Ladd McConkey for his 100-yard performance and touchdown. Kimani Vidal gets game ball number 1.

Poni does not have a feeling for this Steelers vs Chargers game. The Chargers are second in the NFL in time of possession, while the Steelers are 32nd. Herbert is better than Aaron Rodgers…right? Do the Steelers have enough to cover all the good WRs that the Chargers have? Fair Game with Nick Farabaugh. Nick does not see MVS playing anytime soon and that he has to “prove himself” in practice. Nick has the Chargers winning.
Poni debuts his new segment. The Steelers/Chargers Power Hour
Hour 1 with Joe Starkey and Donny Football: Joe thinks the Steelers have a chance to make some damage. The Steelers have the best point differential off turnovers this season. Rodgers' Rebuttals – What did Aaron Rodgers say to the media today? ALL ACCESS w/ Aditi – Aditi said it is fair for people to criticize the Steelers for the lack of moves yesterday. Aditi didn't think the price for guys like Jakobi Meyers and Rashid Shaheed were too steep for the Steelers to take a chance. Aditi talked about players going through breakout games and what it could mean for them going forward. Do the Steelers have guys like that in their WR corps? Broadly speaking, Aditi doesn't see the Steelers among the top 3 or 4 in the AFC, but will be in the playoff picture as always. She said the smarts from Aaron Rodgers has been a true difference maker in the Steelers offense. Out of Poni's somewhat ridiculous QB suggestions for 2026, she said Joe Flacco would be her pick. Donny Football Debrief – A community college in Compton, CA had a rough football season with some ‘grizzly' veterans on the field.
There is a conspiracy theory floating around that Art Rooney II ‘blocked' any trade the Steelers could have made to save draft picks for next April when the event takes place in Pittsburgh. The Steelers are projected to have up to 12 selections that weekend and the owner may feel like holding onto the capital is the best move. Do we think there is anything to this? Former MLB pitcher Matt Clement joined the show. Matt came hot out of the gate talking Pirates free agency, saying his first call would be to JT Realmuto and that they should offer him a 3-year deal. Matt didn't put any blame on Isiah Kiner-Falefa for his baserunning gaffe in Game 7. He added thoughts on some of the other events in the game. How much did he enjoy the final game of the season? Mike Florio from Pro Football Talk joined the show. Mike said the Steelers should throw away the ugly throwbacks they wore on Sunday Night Football. The guys had Mike react to the trade deadline and the lack of moves from the Steelers yesterday for players like Jakobi Meyers or Rashid Shaheed. Mike doesn't buy into the conspiracy theory that Art Rooney II prevented the front office from making moves. What does he think of Marquez Valdes-Scantling, who will stand as the Steelers lone WR move? Mike was surprised they didn't acquire Allen Lazard since the Jets were undergoing a fire sale. Mike doesn't think there should be regret in dealing George Pickens even if they failed to fill that WR2 void. Mike isn't ready to consider the Steelers a serious contender – he said their season comes down to fending off the Ravens. Poni threw out a few QBs that could be available for the Steelers in 2026 if Aaron Rodgers retires after the season. Mike believes Kyler Murray will be available and will possibly get cut by the Cardinals before we enter the offseason. Mike described the YouTube TV feud with Disney/ESPN as ‘unfortunate' because it continues to make things more difficult for the consumer. Mike said if they ‘gave a crap' about the customers, they would resolve this before they do anything else, but there is too much ego coming from the top. Mike said the NFL is powerful enough that they can settle this problem if they really wanted to – saying it's ‘curious' that the league is standing on the sidelines here.
We continued to react to the Steelers standing pat at the trade deadline. Poni had a gripe with the people who cover the team, many of which are on our airwaves. Almost all of them lauded the team for not making a single move yesterday, giving the team an A+ for their work. Poni believes the same people would have given the team the same grade if they had made moves. The Fan vs The Fans. Former Penguin Tyler Kennedy joined the show. The Penguins have made a plethora of moves, including the promotion of Sergei Murashov, who could be the goaltender of the future. TK said if this kid has great early returns, it creates a ‘good, tough' decision for the Penguins when Tristan Jarry is healthy. He suggested the team putting Jarry on waivers if Murashov shows out. Tyler said it will be a tough transition in terms of crowd noise and attendance, as well as the uptick in the pace of play. He will likely get his first action against Alex Ovechkin, the greatest goal scorer of all-time. The guys asked Tyler about the collapse in Toronto the other night when the Penguins held a 3-0 lead after 2 periods.

We are just over an hour away from the NFL Trade Deadline. Still nothing from the Steelers today. Poni's latest WR rumor is that the Steelers called the Cardinals about Marvin Harrison Jr., but it doesn't seem like talks picked up much steam. Do the Steelers have their toes in any other waters as of now? Could Deebo Samuel be on the move as this deadline approaches? The guys don't seem to like that move much at all. Did the Steelers miss out on Rashid Shaheed? Tomlin Tidbit – Has Jalen Ramsey found a new position?
The trade deadline is here and it appears the Steelers haven't done anything. The Chargers traded for Trevor Penning to help out their offensive line that is in some disarray. The Steelers WR help will be capped with Marquez Valdes-Scantling, who was signed to the practice squad yesterday. A few calls on the trade deadline fallout. Poni had very short patience. Donny Football Debrief – Tom Brady cloned his dog that passed away a few years ago.
Poni said he is upset at Omar Khan for doing nothing at the trade deadline. They made a move for Kyle Dugger last week, but no moves made today and nothing to improve the offense, other than Marquez Valdes-Scantling to the practice squad. Did Omar fail his test today? Do the Steelers overvalue the TE and RB usage in the pass game?

The Steelers were coming off 2 very disappointing defensive performances that had a lot of people rolling out on them before they responded in a big way yesterday. Poni said it's a different NFL today than it was going into the action yesterday – and that is reason for some optimism. Did TJ Watt have a ‘great' game yesterday? The guys talked about some other adjustments made by the defense that made a difference. Calls on TJ Watt after a big game against the Colts. PM Team Professors.
Poni says that he's impressed by the way that Aaron Rodgers will criticize himself and the offense, even after wins. The Steelers spread out the offense more than they usually do yesterday, and Calvin Austin took advantage. Aaron Rodgers was likely unhappy with Roman Wilson's fumble in the fourth quarter. Mullsy was not a fan of the offense's performance yesterday, as they averaged under 4 yards per play. Callers voice their opinions on the game yesterday. PIT-IND Game Balls – Payton Wilson, Alex Highsmith, Kyle Dugger.
VICTORY MONDAY. The Steelers beat the Colts, who came into the game 7-1 on the season. A bludgeoning did take place, but it was the Steelers laying the lumber to the best offense in football. The Steelers forced 6 turnovers, including one on special teams, in the win. Is this something they can count on every week? Some people are coming out of the game not feeling great after a pretty comfy win against a good team. Poni isn't ready to crown them as AFC North champs again, but gravity around the league is hovering closer to .500 after Sunday. Did yesterday's game do anything for your optimism? Are fans underrating the win from yesterday? The Steelers changed up their defense a little bit, too. PIT-IND Plays of the Game.

Cam Heyward told reporters that players deserve the brunt of the blame for why the defense is playing the way it is. One thing Poni points to is the fact that TJ Watt is so resistant about moving around. Should we be worried that Watt has lost a step? It seems like the Steelers' detriment is continuing to rely on their players even as they continue to age. Steve Palazzolo from the 33rd Team joined the show. Steve agrees with Poni and thinks the Steelers have the ingredients to beat the Colts on Sunday after 2 straight losses. Will this be the season that the Mike Tomlin .500 or better record comes to an end? Steve thought things would work on the Steelers defense, but that has not happened. Steve said they should use the advantage of all 3 edge rushers and make sure the defense never knows where they are coming from. What are the Steelers getting in Kyle Dugger? Donny Football Debrief – The Irsay family is going to auction off some pieces of memorabilia of Jim Irsay. What is the coolest piece?
