The Anglican Church in North America (ACNA) is a small but mighty denomination. As I have written elsewhere, Anglicanism has the potential to breathe new life into the evangelical movement. But the denomination is facing challenges on many fronts, some of them self-inflicted. Archbishop Steve Wood, the senior leader of ACNA, has been credibly accused of sexual harassment and other offenses. Another bishop, Stewart Ruch, is currently facing a church trial for his handling of a sex offender in his diocese. Bishop Derek Jones, who has led the military chaplain corps, is now behind a rancorous attempt to leave ACNA and take more than 300 chaplains with him. All of the current controversies — those involving Archbishop Wood and Bishops Ruch and Jones — have also highlighted the inadequacy of the church's canons to deal with matters of conflict and discipline. Over the past few years, MinistryWatch has covered several scandals in the denomination, and the process has been tentative and clunky at almost every level. For example, ACNA first made formal charges against Bishop Stewart Ruch — known as a “presentment” — in December of 2022, three years ago. After many fits and starts (some of which you can read about here), the trial finally took place this week, and we still don't have a verdict. I have heard from credible sources that the cost of the trial will exceed a million dollars. More than a year ago, just before ACNA's provincial meeting in Latrobe, Penn., I wrote what I think the denomination should do to graduate from organizational adolescence into adulthood. Those recommendations included: Make a final decision on women's ordination. Eliminate non-geographical dioceses, including Church for the Sake of Others. Revise and expand the canons of ACNA. Pick a leader with a strong arm and a velvet touch. Issue a clear statement on sexual issues. Perhaps the biggest fumble, though, was ACNA's selection of a new archbishop. Not only has he proven himself to be not up to the task, he has become a part of the problem. Even if he is found “not guilty” of the presentment against him, the process itself has already been damaging to him and the church. That is why I would add one more recommendation to the list above: Steve Wood should resign as archbishop of the Anglican Church in North America. There is no way forward for him that doesn't do further damage to the church. If he is exonerated of the charges in the presentment, many in ACNA who already distrust his leadership and the inadequacy of the canons will cite that exoneration as proof of a rigged system. If he is found guilty, he is unfit to serve. I continue to believe that ACNA has great promise. The 15 years of its existence — especially when considered in the long arc of church history — is but a moment. Anglicanism offers much to the world, and to evangelicalism in particular. But it must face this moment with decisiveness and integrity. ACNA faces an existential crisis that grows more acute by the day, and before Anglicanism can save evangelicalism, it must first save itself. The producer for today's program is Jeff McIntosh. Until next time, may God bless you.

Send us a textWhat happens when a successful corporate career collides with the deeper priorities of fatherhood? In this candid conversation, John Boney shares the raw journey of finding balance after his 25-year marriage ended, while raising three children who are now thriving adults.Standing at 6'7", John brings the same thoughtful perspective to parenting that once made him a formidable basketball player. Growing up in the small town of Latrobe, Pennsylvania (famous as Arnold Palmer's hometown), John absorbed values of punctuality, respect, and loyalty that shaped his approach to life. When career ambitions led to moving his family six times in nine years, he eventually reached a pivotal moment—choosing family stability over the next corporate ladder rung."I think what I learned was I had to find something that was gonna bring me joy and happiness," John reflects, explaining how prioritizing what truly matters led him to Force Management, where he now helps organizations accelerate sales performance. His story offers powerful lessons about perseverance through challenge, especially as he navigated the complexities of co-parenting after separation. The conversation takes fascinating turns through practical parenting wisdom, including how using TED-based questions (Tell, Explain, Describe) creates meaningful dialogue with children of any age. John shares how faith became his anchor during difficult times, offering the simple but profound mantra that sustained him: "Let go and let God."Whether you're facing career transitions, relationship challenges, or simply seeking to be more present with your children, John's journey demonstrates how maintaining core values of commitment, loyalty, and character can help raise well-adjusted adults even through life's most difficult seasons. His pre-game message to his children—"Have fun, work hard. I love you."—stands as a testament to how consistency and authentic love create the foundation children need to thrive.Support the showPlease don't forget to leave us a review wherever you consume your podcasts! These special edition episodes have been posted after the Pittsburgh Steelers wrap up each one of their 2025 training camp practices. As usual, Alex and I go through all of the position groups and try to give you the rundown on as many players as possible in the shortest amount of time. This is a longer episode as we recap all of training camp throughout this show when it comes to all position groups and main takeaways. August 13, 2025 - Season 16, Episode 9 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Wednesday morning show, Alex Kozora and I get right to discussing the overall health of the Pittsburgh Steelers now that their 2025 training camp practices at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, PA are over with. We discuss Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers getting dinged during Tuesdays practice and more. Steelers DT Cameron Heyward finally addressed the media to talk about his contract situation a few days ago so Alex and I completely parse all that he had to say on that topic. We go over what it sounds like Cameron Heyward is waiting in terms of his contract being adjusted, what he might and might not get as an end result and the several types of pushbacks he has received concerning the topic. Would Cameron Heyward seriously consider missing games in 2025 due to his contract situation? We discuss that question and also go over several other questions related to his contract wants and how that has been handled by his side this offseason. Keeping with the Heyward theme, Alex and I discuss Steelers TE Connor Heyward in this show. We talk about how safe his spot on the 53-man roster seems to be right now and if the Steelers should look outside the organization for a possibly upgrade to be their fourth tight end. Speaking of the tight end position, Alex and I discuss an old breakdown that former New England Patriots HC Bill Belichick had when it comes to what he looked for in his tight ends and the roles for each on the depth chart. That makes for a fun conversation when applying to the Steelers current group of tight ends. We also go over Belichick's old thoughts on offense and other offensive position groups. With the all-22 tape from the Steelers first preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars now fully digested by both of us, Alex and I recap the good, bad, ugly, and other notable things that we observed. We address and review the individual play of several Steelers players from Saturday night as part of our lengthy postgame breakdown of the tape. The Pivot podcast recently released training camp interviews with Steelers HC Mike Tomlin and new CB Jalen Ramsey that certainly got our full attention. We discuss both interviews and especially Ramsey's in depth. I explain why the Ramsey interview really has me even more fired up when it comes to the impact he can make on defense for the 2025 season and beyond. This 140-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted in the recap, and we make sure to answer several email questions we received from listeners of the show. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. In this clip from the Wednesday edition of the North Shore Drive podcast, presented by Edgar Snyder & Associates, host Adam Bittner welcomes Post-Gazette insider Christoper Carter to ponder winners from Steelers training camp at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe. Why was Payton Wilson able to meet sky-high expectations at middle linebacker? How has Darnell Washington asserted himself in the passing game alongside names like Pat Freiermuth and Jonnu Smith? Has Yahya Black proven that he's the top reserve offensive lineman behind Cam Heyward, Keeanu Benton and Derrick Harmon? Is Scotty Miller now a lock to make the team after demonstrating chemistry with Aaron Rodgers? How much does Jalen Ramsey appear poised to transform this defense after the late offseason trade that brought him to Pittsburgh in exchange for Minkah Fitzpatrick? And has Broderick Jones successfully shaken off a rough first week to show he can be a strength for the offensive line? Our duo tackles those questions and more.
In this clip from the Wednesday edition of the North Shore Drive podcast, presented by Edgar Snyder & Associates, host Adam Bittner welcomes Post-Gazette insider Christopher Carter to ponder the losers at Steelers training camp at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe. Could Robert Woods miss the team at receiver, having possibly been surpassed on the depth chart by names like Roman Wilson and Scotty Miller? Or does he still have a chance to find chemistry with QB Aaron Rodgers? Where does Isaiahh Loudermilk fit in the pecking order on the defensive line after rookies Derrick Harmon and Yahya Black had strong outings? Is Cory Trice Jr. in danger of losing a roster spot amid yet another injury? And with competitors like Beanie Bishop and James Pierre putting solid tape together? And could Skylar Thompson be a threat to Will Howard as the No. 3 QB behind Rodgers and Mason Rudolph? Our duo tackles those questions and more.

On the Monday episode of the North Shore Drive podcast, Post-Gazette insiders Christopher Carter and Ray Fittipaldo discuss burning topics heading into the final week of Steelers training camp at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe. Is depth at receiver still a concern behind DK Metcalf? Or have Roman Wilson and Scotty Miller done enough in the eyes of GM Omar Khan and coach Mike Tomlin to resist a free agent signing or trade involving veterans such a Amari Cooper or Allen Lazard? And where does the injured Calvin Austin III fit into that conversation? Then later, the guys ponder which depth corners are best positioned to make the 53-man roster behind Darius Slay Jr., Joey Porter Jr. and Jalen Ramsey. Will Brandin Echols or Beanie Bishop ultimately get the nod as DC Teryl Austin begins the process of paring down his roster in the coming weeks? Our duo tackles those questions and more.
When MIke Tomlin wants to sit down and chop it up, you soak it in and try to take in all his words and wisdom. In this can't-miss 2025 training camp special —Ryan Clark, Channing Crowder, and Fred Taylor—make their annual trip to Latrobe for a powerful, wide-ranging sit-down with Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin, just weeks away from one of the most anticipated seasons in franchise history. Tomlin pulls back the curtain on what it's like coaching Aaron Rodgers, now in black and gold and laser-focused at another shot at a Super Bowl. From the moment Rodgers walked into the building, the standard didn't change—it elevated. Coach T talks leadership dynamics, the merging of legacies, key pick ups adding star power on both offense and defense and how he's building a locker room that can support both the present and the future. It's a true Sunday service with Coach's honesty and gems dropped as the guys go deep into what Rodgers still brings at age 41, the lessons learned from past seasons, and why this year may look a little different but rooted in the same core principles. Tomlin also reflects on his longevity in the league, the evolution of his leadership style, and the pressure—and privilege—of chasing greatness in a city that demands it. His love affair with football and what drives him each day is shared and he even reveals some secrets that will make the football world say- ohhh now I get it! Tap in now for the full conversation with Mike T as the guys peel back the layers of one of the most respected figures in sports. July 23, 2025 - Season 16, Episode 1 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Wednesday evening show, Alex Kozora and I get right to discussing the Pittsburgh Steelers reporting to Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, PA earlier in the day for the start of their 2025 training camp. We first discuss the team placing G Isaac Seumalo on the Active/NFI list at the start of training camp with a soft tissue injury. We talk about how he will miss the start of training camp and who is likely to fill in for him at left guard until he is healthy. We talk a little bit about how the Steelers are really a healthy team overall heading into training camp this year. Steelers HC Mike Tomlin talked to the media Wednesday afternoon, so we go over a few key things that he had to say at the start of camp. We focus a lot on what Tomlin had to see about the expected cornerback usage in 2025 when it comes to the top three in that position group, Joey Porter Jr., Jalen Ramsey, and Darius Slay. Steelers GM Omar Khan also had a press conference on Wednesday, so Alex and I parse the main talking points to come out of his media session. There's a lot to recap from Khan when it comes to possible additions moving forward and future contract extensions this summer. We discuss how active Khan has been this offseason with him also keeping a close eye on the 2026 NFL Draft. We go over what he had to say about the decision to trade away S Minkah Fitzpatrick a few weeks ago as well. Fresh off of signing his new contract last week, Steelers OLB T.J. Watt also had a formal press conference on Wednesday. Alex and I make sure to parse the several key things that he had to say during his media session. Later in this show, Alex and I attempt to quickly recap a few notable things that a few other various Steelers players had to say on reporting day. With the Steelers set to have their first official training camp practice of 2025 on Thursday, Alex and I look ahead to things we are looking forward to learning right out of the chute this year. This 76-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted in the recap and we make sure to answer a few listener questions at the very end. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. July 14, 2025 - Season 15, Episode 160 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Monday episode, Alex Kozora is back after a long weekend off and we get right to discussing the latest concerning Pittsburgh Steelers OLB T.J. Watt and his ongoing contract situation. Specifically, Alex and I look at the probability and possibility of Watt holding out completely at the start of training camp and thus not showing up at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe when the rest of the team does. San Francisco 49ers WR Jauan Jennings is back in the news on Monday morning as he reportedly wants a new contract or to be traded. We look at if Jennings could potentially land with the Steelers via a trade and what kind of new contract he's likely looking for this summer. As a Monday morning, most of the NFL's 2025 second round selections remain unsigned. We discuss why that's the case this year and who is most likely to blame for that. We discuss the Steelers not having to worry about that problem this year and we look back at the contract that C Zach Frazier signed last year as a second round selection. On the heels of Ross McCorkle doing a 2025 passing and receiving stats exercise during the Friday show, Alex and I go over the changes he submitted over the weekend. Alex and I discuss a few loose stat projections that he has right now for the Steelers tight ends, QB Aaron Rodgers, and WR DK Metcalf as well. With Alex back on Monday, we pick up where e left off on Wednesday when it comes to reviewing players in my annual 90 In 30 serries. Today, Alex and I discuss 12 more players from that ongoing series and they are; OLB Eku Leota, DT Isaiahh Loudermilk, DT Dean Lowry, C Ryan McCollum, G Mason McCormick, CB Cameron McCutcheon, WR Lance McCutcheon, CB Kyler McMichael, WR DK Metcalf, WR Scotty Miller, OLB Jeremiah Moon, and T Doug Nester. This 115-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted in the recap. We also end this episode by answering a few outstanding email questions we have received this past week from listeners of the show. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices.
