September 10, 2023 - Grieving The Holy Spirit – Rev. Austin Carty by Boulevard Baptist Church
How can we encourage & welcome the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives?
Expository study of Ephesians 4:29-32
Ephesians 4:29-30 Good Christians can and do disagree over secondary doctrines, practices, applications, (etc.!) When Christians disagree disagreeably, when they mislabel and misrepresent Christians with whom they disagree, and when they further suggest (or accuse) others of being the equivalent of false teachers (as per Jude 1:4) -- the Holy Spirit is grieved!

Grieving The Holy Spirit by Better Life Church
What is grieving the Holy Spirit? How do we avoid it? I was reading the book Holy Fire by R.T. Kendall today and was really challenged by how he describes what it is, how it happens, and how to fix it. I hope you find this eye-opening if you've never really thought about it before. A devotional study about not quite accepting a call of conviction upon the heart. We cannot afford to play games when the Holy Spirit makes an appeal to us through any messenger or mechanism.Acts 26:28-29 KJVThen Agrippa said unto Paul, “Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.” And Paul said, “I would to God, that not only thou, but also all that hear me this day, were both almost, and altogether such as I am, except these bonds.”---During many of our podcasts, you will hear us make reference to “The Key Principles of Effective Bible Study,” a document which outlines core concepts shown in the scriptures that will help you better understand many Biblical themes and doctrines. We have done a whole podcast series on these principles which can be found here.Lastly, we recommend that you check out https://TrueWisdom.buzzsprout.com for additional Bible Study podcasts, covering many different Bible topics, and done in a slightly different format from the podcasts on this channel. We pray that all of these resources will be very helpful to you in your Bible Studies. If you have any questions or comments, please send them to: BibleQuestions@ASBzone.comAlmost Saved...There are some who seem to be always seeking for the heavenly pearl. But they do not make an entire surrender of their wrong habits. They do not die to self that Christ may live in them. Therefore they do not find the precious pearl. They have not overcome unholy ambition and their love for worldly attractions. They do not take up the cross and follow Christ in the path of self-denial and sacrifice. Almost Christians, yet not fully Christians, they seem near the kingdom of heaven, but they cannot enter there. Almost but not wholly saved, means to be not almost but wholly lost. {COL 118.1}https://egwwritings.org/read?panels=p15.475&index=0Related Podcasts:Search Me O GodYe Must Be Born AgainThe Soul that SinnethThe Final Reward of the WickedFully Persuaded in his Own MindWhat Must I Do to be Saved? In this episode, we look at what exactly it means to grieve the Holy Spirit. This is something that we are never to do. In the Church today, this is spoken about far too casually, which undermines what it actually is and the importance it holds. Grieving the Holy Spirit is not what most people assume it is, in this episode we go in depth in the scripture to see what exactly it means, so we know what to avoid. We are never meant to grieve the Spirit, we are called to bless and serve the Spirit. Let's make the choice to answer this calling today.
We grieve the Holy Spirit when we harbor anger and refuse to forgive.
A very pointed sermon about the possibility of grieving the Spirit. Spurgeon shows a tender heart in so speaking, for he first draws attention to the love of the Spirit and the seal of the Spirit. These aspects of the sermon lay the foundation, setting forth the gracious operations of the One whom we grieve when we resist, neglect, or despise his work in us and the church. With this as the backdrop, the fact of our grieving the Spirit then becomes all the more pressing and painful, whether as individuals or as congregations. Of course, Spurgeon will not conclude without the reminder that the Spirit of grace is quick to draw near to the humble repenter, so leaving us hope.

In this episode of The Lesson, Gordon and Ashley discuss how believers can quench or grieve the Holy Spirit and more importantly, how to avoid doing that in their lives. Referenced: 1 Thess. 5:19-20; Eph. 4:30; Acts 2:1-4
