In a world that confuses emotional hype with spiritual power, we often mistake the "spark" of a crowd for the "fire" of the Lord. But true biblical zeal—the kind Paul describes in Galatians 4:18—is not a collective high or a fleeting feeling. It is a fiery, ardent passion birthed in the deepest seat of the soul. It is the very power of God set within a person to perform His specific will.​This message explores the "good thing" that Paul commands us to be zealously affected by. Be warned: true zeal is often a solo calling. It is a force of acute determination that refuses compromise and seeks only the Victor's crown. When you walk in this divine fire, fellow believers may become annoyed, labeled you an extremist, or even exclude you from their circles. Yet, if your zeal is truly from the Lord, no social pressure or isolation can stop Him in you. It is time to move past the false sense of power found in groups and embrace the unstoppable, dedicated force of a heart fully possessed by God. Cover with water and bring gently to a simmer. Reduce the heat and let it bubble softly, topping up with more water as needed. Allow the steam to fill the home and carry the energy of luck, prosperity, clarity, sweetness, and success through the space.To turn it into a syrupOnce the simmer pot has infused well and the liquid is fragrant and flavourful, strain out all of the solids. Measure the remaining liquid. Add it back to a clean pot with an equal amount of sugar. For example, if you have 500ml of strained liquid, add 500g of sugar. Stir over a low heat until the sugar has fully dissolved, then add 1/4 teaspoon of citric acid per 500ml of liquid. Simmer very gently for a few more minutes until slightly thickened. Every year the Greek-Orthodox Patriarch of Jerusalem enters Christ's tomb in the Holy Sepulcher church in Jerusalem with no way to start a fire, prays, and fire miraculously appears which is then distributed to the faithful. For a brief time this fire does not burn.In this episode I talk with Ghassan Kattoua, who has joined the Holy Fire ceremony every year since he was a child. His family is one of the thirteen families who has the right to carry the banners in the Holy Sepulcher on Holy Saturday. This is not part of the liturgy but of the local tradition. This year Holy Saturday is on 11 April 2026. Jesus ignites a sacred devotion within the heart, a holy fire that no distraction can extinguish. 

In this message, Sam turns to Exodus 3 and 1 Samuel 3 to explore how God reveals Himself—not in spectacle, but in obscurity. Moses encounters holy fire in a desolate wilderness. Generations later, Samuel hears the voice of God in the quiet of the night, at a time when "the word of the Lord was rare." In both moments, heaven breaks in—but only the attentive recognize it. Moses is tending sheep in disappointment. Samuel is a young boy learning to discern a voice he does not yet understand. Neither setting feels dramatic. Both become holy. The turning point in each story is attentiveness. Moses says, "I must turn aside and see." Samuel responds, "Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening." Curiosity becomes the doorway to encounter. Attention becomes the birthplace of worship. This teaching invites us to adopt the pace of Jesus—slow, responsive to the Father, led by the Spirit. Holy ground is not found by striving, but by noticing. God still hides holy fire in ordinary places. The question is not whether He is speaking. The question is whether we are listening.
