In this episode of Living in Step with the Holy Spirit, Bruce Downes reflects on Romans 8:9–11 and the powerful truth that the Spirit of God dwells within us.Many people live the Christian life as though God is somewhere far away and they are trying to reach Him. We pray, serve, work hard, and try to grow in holiness, but often we forget that God has already drawn near.Through the Holy Spirit, God has made His home within us.Bruce reminds us that the Christian life is not simply about following Christ from a distance. It is about allowing the risen Lord, present within us by the Holy Spirit, to shape who we become. The same Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead is present in believers today. The same Spirit who transformed frightened disciples into courageous witnesses continues to guide, strengthen, and lead the Church.Today's invitation is simple: pause, become still, and grow in awareness of the Holy Spirit within you.
Today’s Bible Verse: “The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands.” — Acts 17:24 Acts 17:24 is part of Paul’s message to the people of Athens, where he introduces them to the one true God. Surrounded by temples, idols, and competing ideas about spirituality, Paul points to a foundational truth: God is the Creator of everything. He is not limited by buildings, traditions, or human understanding. He is the Lord of heaven and earth. Want to listen without ads? In this sermon, Fr. Theophilus Mikhail explains the significance of the Holy Spirit dwelling within believers. He emphasizes that God's promises, including the presence of the Holy Spirit, never change and remain constant throughout time. Fr. Theophilus describes how the Holy Spirit convicts us gently of sin, judgment, and encourages righteousness, offering a wake-up call rather than blame. He warns against falling into despair like Judas by ignoring the Spirit's guidance and stresses the importance of escaping temptations quickly, similar to fleeing from a snake. The Holy Spirit also inspires virtues such as love and wisdom, helping lead believers toward God's kingdom. Fr. Theophilus encourages regular prayer asking God to fill us and our children with the Holy Spirit for strength and guidance in life. #HolySpirit #ChristianFaith #FrTheophilusMikhail #Pentecost #SpiritualGuidance #FaithInGod #StPaulHouston #Coptic #FrMatthias Subscribe to us on YouTube https://youtube.com/stpaulhouston Like us on Facebook https://facebook.com/saintpaulhouston Follow us on SoundCloud https://soundcloud.com/stpaulhouston Follow us on Instagram https://instagram.com/stpaulhouston Visit our website for schedules and to join the mailing list https://stpaulhouston.org
أما تعلمون أنكم هيكل الله، وروح الله يسكن فيكم؟ - ١ كو ٣ : ١٦
5/31/26 - Romans 7:14-25 - "Sin Which Dwells in Me" (Rev. Justin L. Hunter)
omans 8New King James VersionFree from Indwelling SinThere is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. Therefore, brethren, we are debtors—not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.Sonship Through the Spirit

What was so special about this miracle that Peter didn't tell anyone until after the resurrection? What made this miracle so unique that it's the only miracle, apart from the resurrection, that Peter directly refers to in the Bible? In this message Douglas explores what the transfiguration tells us about Jesus and ourselves.
In the final episode of the series, we explore and unpack a prophecy in ch 8 about the wider vision of God's presence in Israel. Asking how this expanded inclusive vision can change how we see/be in the world. What do ‘the nations' see when they look at you?
This sermon centers on two deep human fears: abandonment and being unloved, tracing them back to the fall in Eden where doubt in God's love first took root. Jesus directly addresses these fears in John 14:18, promising not to leave his disciples as orphans but to come to them through the Holy Spirit. This promise is not superficial comfort but the profound reality of God's indwelling presence. Throughout salvation history, God has always been with his people, but now, through the Spirit, he dwells within them. The Spirit is not secondary to Christ but brings a deeper intimacy with God, actively working in believers to transform them. This indwelling assures Christians that while they may feel lonely, they are never truly alone or abandoned. The Spirit animates, sanctifies, and draws believers into love and obedience—not out of fear or obligation, but as a response to God's love poured into their hearts through Christ. As fears resurface, believers are called to trust in the Spirit's abiding presence. Ultimately, the sermon proclaims that God's presence within us dispels the lies of abandonment and replaces them with the enduring truth of divine love.
In Week 20 of our FOLLOW series through Exodus, guest preacher George Flees walks through Exodus 25 and the beginning of God's instructions for the Tabernacle. Why did God ask Israel to build a sanctuary? Why were the offerings voluntary? What was the purpose of the Ark of the Covenant and the Mercy Seat? And how does the Tabernacle ultimately point us to Jesus? This message explores:God's desire to dwell with His peopleThe heart of willing worship and generous givingThe meaning of the Ark of the CovenantThe purpose of the Mercy Seat and blood atonementJesus as the true and final meeting place between God and humanityThe assurance of salvation through ChristFrom Mount Sinai to the Tabernacle to the cross of Christ, Exodus 25 reveals a God who desires relationship, communion, and nearness with His people.
This week on Consider This, Justin Ebert and Ryan Vincent discuss 1 Kings 4–22 and 2 Corinthians 1–7. They explore Solomon's wisdom, temple-building, glory, and tragic compromise; Elijah's confrontation with Baal and his discouragement after Mount Carmel; and Paul's vision of suffering, comfort, weakness, reconciliation, and godly repentance.
In this episode of St. Anthony's Tongue, we ask a simple but deeply important question: Does God dwell within us?Many Catholics have heard Saint Paul's words that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, but we often reduce that teaching to a warning label about sin rather than a mystical truth about God's nearness. From Scripture, Catholic theology, and the lives of the mystics, we explore the indwelling of God, the Holy Spirit within the soul, and why prayer is not about summoning a distant God.This episode is especially for anyone struggling with scrupulosity, spiritual anxiety, dryness in prayer, or the fear that God is far away. Catholic mysticism does not teach that we are God, nor is it New Age spirituality or Gnosticism. It teaches something far more beautiful: by grace, the living God makes His home within us.We'll look at the temple language of Saint Paul, the promise of Christ in John 14, the indwelling Trinity, sanctifying grace, contemplative prayer, and the witness of saints and mystics like St. Teresa of Ávila, St. Elizabeth of the Trinity, and St. Augustine.God is not far away. You do not have to summon Him. By grace, He is already nearer than you think.
Meditation by Fr. Eric Nicolai on May 4th, 2026 at Ernescliff College, Toronto.John 14, 23-26: ‘If anyone loves me he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we shall come to him and make our home with him.The image that we, our soul, is like a dwelling place for God. The Lord says we shall come to dwell in us, like in a home, a castle, a mansion. He desires to find a beautiful place, a oul made for him, a soul that is fit for him, with an interior cleanliness. He sees you and me now, in our purpose, our inner person—mind, heart, desires, conscience, wounds, and hopes—not just outward behavior. He says we want to come. That action of the holy Trinity that comes to defend us, to be our advocate. He has many things to tell us.Music: Vienna Philharmonic OrchestraThumbnail: Neuschwanstein in winter in Germany

Do you think it's hard to be a good person? There are many factors, many influences, on each individual: family of origin, biology, social context, peer pressure, cultural issues, nature and nurture. But of course, what is missing from that list is the individual, the person, their heart, their soul. At the end of the day, we each make our own choices. But that doesn't make context irrelevant. Jesus begins his letter to the church in Pergamum in Revelation 2:12–17, “I know where you dwell.” Context is not irrelevant. The “where” matters. Listen as Pastor Luke Herche preaches on this passage, looking at the place of compromise, the faithful witness, and the blessings of God's house. Part of a series on the book of Revelation. From Sunday Worship, April 12, 2026. ------------------------------- Want to go deeper? Take some time to reflect on the sermon with the following questions: We are unlikely to eat the food of literal idols. However, in what areas of life do you feel pressure to compromise your values to get ahead or ensure financial security? What is going on in your heart that tempts you to compromise in this way? Jesus tells the church that he knows exactly where they dwell. How does it change your perspective to know that Jesus deeply understands the specific pressures of the environment you live in every day? In what ways does remembering Jesus as the Faithful Witness who faced the sword for us empower you to stand firm when you feel the reality of dwelling where Satan's throne is? How does the promise of hidden manna and a white stone with a new name offer a better kind of security and identity than the things we are tempted to chase in our careers or social circles? ------------------------------- allsoulspca.org All Souls (Urbana, IL) is a part of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), a Christian, Reformed denomination with historic and theological roots in the Protestant Reformation.
The message centers on Jesus' warning to the church in Pergamum that spiritual compromise can quietly settle in even where faith is professed, as believers learn to coexist with darkness while thinking they still walk in light (Revelation 2:12–13); living “where Satan's throne is” meant constant pressure to blend truth with pagan culture, emperor worship, and false sources of healing, yet Christ reveals Himself as the One who wields the sharp, two-edged sword—His Word—which alone exposes reality, cuts through deception, and discerns true motives (Hebrews 4:12; Revelation 1:16; Revelation 19:15); the warning echoes Jesus' own words to beware that the light we think we have is not actually darkness (Luke 11:35), calling believers to examine whether their lives truly align with Scripture or have subtly adapted to the world, because only the Word of God can rightly judge where we dwell, whom we are faithful to, and whether we remain loyal to Christ as His bride in the midst of a hostile and seductive culture.
Today's speaker is Dr. Zach Bowden, Chief of Staff and Assistant Professor of Theological Studies at Cedarville University. Dr. Bowden concludes the series, "Exodus: Our God Saves," looking at chapter 40. He teaches that the glory of God is not an abstract notion, but rather, it is for us, and shines forth in the forgiveness of sins.
https://newsongpeople.com/messages/the-god-who-dwells-with-his-peopleFrom the very beginning, God has been on a mission to dwell with His people—not at a distance, but intimately, face to face. The tabernacle was never just a tent in the wilderness; it was a living picture pointing forward to Jesus, the one who would tear the veil and invite you into the presence of God forever. And now, through Christ, you don't just visit where God dwells—you carry His presence wherever you go.

Welcome to The Daily, where we study the Bible verse by verse, chapter by chapter, every day. Read more about Project23 and partner with us as we teach every verse of the Bible on video. Our text today is 1 Corinthians 3:16-17. Most people read this passage and think it's about personal holiness. But Paul isn't talking to you (singular). He's talking to you all — the church. Do you not know that you (plural) are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you? If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him. For God's temple is holy, and you are that temple. — 1 Corinthians 3:16–17 Paul delivers a sobering truth: The gathered community — not the building — is God's dwelling place. And the greatest threat isn't outside the church. It's inside. Division. Gossip. Pride. Competition. Criticism. These don't just hurt feelings — they damage God's temple. The church is rarely destroyed by the world. It's usually destroyed by believers acting worldly. Every jealous comparison, every harsh word, every split, every whispered complaint, Paul calls it temple vandalism. Because the Spirit dwells among His people, and whatever harms His people harms His dwelling. What God calls sacred, don't tear apart. But the opposite is also true: When you forgive quickly, speak gently, protect unity, and pursue peace — you strengthen what God lives in. Your words either build the temple or chip away at it. Choose to build the church and the community today. DO THIS: Pray for one person in your church you've been frustrated with. Then choose one act of peace-building toward them today. ASK THIS: Have my words weakened the church or strengthened it? Who do I need to forgive or approach with humility? How does seeing the church as God's temple change my posture? PRAY THIS: Father, forgive me for any way I've damaged Your church. Make me a builder, not a destroyer, and give me a heart that protects Your people. Amen. PLAY THIS: "Make Us One"
