There is so much going on over here! I can hardly contain myself! The first thing you need to know is that I'm doing a big giveaway for my book's one year birthday. We have free tickets to see Warner Bros new movie Isn't It Romantic for ten lucky winners. Speaking of my book, Why I Hate Green Beans is on sale right now at Amazon! Click here for an incredible deal! (Psst: You can also pre-order my new book. Don't tell because it hasn't been announced yet!) Now, on to Colton. He is officially on the struggle bus. With Elyse leaving, and the stress of timing Heather’s kiss JUST RIGHT with those fireworks, it’s no wonder he’s teetering on madness. Or maybe it’s the bug he ate in the jungle. Either way, I have a feeling the infamous CrossFit leap over the fence is looming in the near future. Get pumped. EPISODE NOTES: One of our very own long-time IHGB readers, Emma St Clair, wrote a romance novel based on a reality show just like The Bachelor and it is killing it on Amazon. I read it in a day and loved it. Do you know why? Because I laughed. Emma is witty. You don’t get that much in romances. It’s called The Billionaire Love Match and it couldn’t be more delightful. You’re not going to find any fantasy suites, but you will find all the characters endearing. Especially the sassy female lead who wears boots! In this week’s episode (which, behind-the-scenes info: was the first we recorded for season 2) we chatted with Sam Weber, one of the moms behind local apparel brand, Hart and Honey Tees. We talked about balancing your biz as a side hustle, the challenges and benefits of influencer marketing as a small business, and being a mom and a entrepreneur at the same time. We had such a great time recording this episode in Sam’s back yard as summer was drawing to a close.Read More »

Well, our good friend Travis Cottrell is back with us this week, and oh, do we have a fine time. However, since y'all know how we like to pride ourselves on technological excellence, you might as well be aware that apparently my microphone wasn't completely plugged in for this episode. So be forewarned that I sound considerably more tin-ny than normal. DO NOT BE DISCOURAGED, however, because Melanie and Travis managed to get their microphones connected and it all works out fine in the end. On this episode we talk about our sleeping preferences (pillows, comforter weight, side of bed, etc.) and prove once and for all that Melanie and I are not low-maintenance individuals. Melanie also shares her surefire method for hacking hotel thermostats, and my enthusiasm for this bit of information probably reveals more about me than I'd like. We also answer more of your questions and cover a whole lot of conversational ground (you have never seen three people agonize more over their hypothetical guests to a hypothetical dinner party than we do). Plus, Neil Diamond shows up. Please do enjoy. Here's where you can get more info on the stuff / products / places we mention: - The Office - Peace Like A River - Friday Night Lights - The Great British Baking Show - Angela Cottrell's Chocolate Gravy - Amy Grant's Lead Me On - Whitney: Can I Be Me - Bryan Stevenson's Just Mercy - Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee - The Popcast Live Show in Chicago (we can't wait!) - Closing Song 1 - Closing Song 2 - Our Big Boo Cast t-shirts from Milk and Honey Tees (and for the record, this shirt is CRAZY soft) - Schneider. A few days ago some of the folks on our Big Boo Facebook page were kind enough to leave comments with some questions / topics that they wanted us to discuss, so that is exactly what Melanie and I do on this episode. We picked seven to start with, and my goodness: WE HAVE SOME THOUGHTS. I actually couldn't fit all of the answers into one episode (you'll hear the rest next week), but we cover a lot of territory when it comes to grief, friendships, writing, and whether or not we enjoy crafts (we'll take "NO" for $400, Alex). This episode is maybe a little extra personal, but we loved getting to talk about this stuff. Hope y'all enjoy! Here's where you can get more info on the stuff / products / places we mention: - "Old Friends" by Ben Rector (we don't mention it specifically - but it's fitting considering what we say about friendship) - Melanie's friend Jen - Sophie's mama - "Caroline's" shoe box Fiesta floats - Carpool Karaoke with Paul McCartney (we don't talk about this at all, but it's so heartwarming and will totally brighten your day) - Closing Song - Our new Big Boo Cast t-shirts from Milk and Honey Tees! Some of you may know that Mississippi State lost the NCAA Women's Basketball National Championship thanks to an incredible last-second shot by Notre Dame, so in the first part of episode 101, Melanie and I take some time to walk through some of the post-game emotions I felt last week in Columbus, OH. We also talk about our spring fashion frustrations, and I may or may not have called a cold-shoulder top the mullet of shirts (I don't know that my assessment is original, but I can assure you that it is heartfelt). The most exciting news on this episode is that Melanie's new devotional book, Everyday Holy, comes out on Tuesday, April 10th, and IT. IS. BEAUTIFUL. See? It is lovely. Anyway, we talk through the writing process for a devotional book and get a little nerdy about that thing. Then we talk about writing trade books and get a little nerdy about that thing. And then we talk about what's going on with our kids and sports and lo, even some summer plans. Hope y'all enjoy it! Welcome to the fifth episode of The Bible Binge. We asked the questions: What if there was a podcast that used pop culture literacy to enhance your biblical literacy? What if you could listen to a recap of the Bible like a recap of your favorite TV show? We're in Season 1: The Lineage of Jesus. In this episode, we discuss Ruth. A story of about a kind heroine who must navigate a dead husband, a demanding mother-in-law, and a dating app that takes her to the threshing floor. Mandy never saw herself as a designer, but when a homemade t-shirt started getting attention from friends, it became clear that God had other plans for her. She now operates Milk and Honey Tees, a home-based business that creates stylish, comfortable tees with meaningful messages. A portion of every Milk and Honey Tees sale supports Africa New Life's Dream Beauty Academy - a program that offers job training, childcare, and discipleship to vulnerable women in Rwanda. My guest today is Mandy Osborne, owner of Milk and Honey Tees. She runs a successful t-shirt printing business from her home. What I love about Mandy is the intentional way she runs her company. She does things on purpose and I can't wait for you to hear her share about what she does. Plus we had a blast chatting that I think we both forgot we were recording. So much fun! She started out selling to friends online and this soon became a "larger than expected" business on Etsy. Mandy is also a mom to 3 boys. She purposely kept her business at home so she could be available to her family. She gives us lots of nuggets of truth and wisdom on living and working from home. We also talk about her Etsy Pattern website and how that has grown with her business. Listen to hear what Mandy is doing to give back to a community in Rwanda. The THREE THINGS she is loving: 1. Tan Towels - Easy to use self-tanning towels 2. New Morning Mercies - Her devotional book by Paul David Tripp 3. When Breath Becomes Air - Memoir by Paul Kalanithi Another book we talked about was Present Over Perfect: Leaving Behind Frantic for a Simpler, More Soulful Way of Living by Shauna Niequist I LOVE GROCERY PICK UP and use Walmart because it is a free service.
