Hey everybody, season 1 of the SPECTACULAR X-Men '97 has wrapped up its run on Disney+. have been EAGERLY awaiting covering the remainder of the season ever since I reviewed the first two episodes and how much I just LOVED them. While I do think the season does have its hiccups, this season is everything I love and have missed with the X-Men in the films and even recent comic runs. I will also be delving deep into spoiler plot lines so be warned before listening to this review! Enjoy! Synopsis: One year after Henry Peter Gyrich's assassination attempt on Professor Charles Xavier led to Xavier leaving Earth with the alien Shi'ar and being presumed dead, the X-Men continue his mission of defending mutants and humans alike.
WARNING: Do not listen to this episode unless you have seen the 2024 Marvel Animation/Disney+ release "X-Men '97” or do not mind hearing key plot points. X-Men '97 is the continuation of the original animated series X-Men. It “takes place” shortly after the events of the original series finale. This is the 3rd podcast in three weeks to focus on this Marvel series. The X-Men are dealing with the fallout from the apparent “death” of their leader, Professor Charles Xavier. Many of the original voice cast are brought back for this show, with notable exceptions. Longtime comic and X-Men fan and sportscaster Robin Lundberg makes his second appearance on the show. While the series is overwhelmingly praised, there are certain debates about plot choices discussed in this episode. This episode is sponsored by/brought to you by BetterHelp. Additionally, Jean Grey has become pregnant while support for mutants has grown. After the X-Men save a young mutant named Roberto da Costa from the Friends of Humanity (FoH), Jean sees that they were outfitted with Sentinel tech and probes Henry Peter Gyrich's mind for the location of the Sentinels' creator, Bolivar Trask. Despite succeeding, she receives a horrifying premonition while doing so. The team later find Trask at a junkyard in the Sahara, where he is rebuilding his Sentinels with the aid of a lobotomized Master Mold. After defeating the Sentinels and apprehending Trask, Cyclops and Jean ponder leaving the team to raise their son away from mutant hatred. The following day, Magneto reveals Xavier's will, in which Xavier gave him control of the Institute and entrusted him with leading the X-Men.While trying to live up to Xavier's legacy, Magneto has taken to saving humans and mutants alike and refraining from killing anti-mutant militants. Distrustful of him, Cyclops and Jean stay to observe Magneto while Rogue sympathizes with his struggles. When UN forces led by Valerie Cooper arrive at the Institute to arrest Magneto for his past terrorism, he surrenders peacefully, hoping to gain the X-Men and humanity's trust. During his trial at the UN's headquarters, the FoH stage an assault on the building. During an interview with TheWrap, Wakanda Forever producer Nate Moore discussed the legal issues standing in the way of Disney and Marvel Studios producing a Namor solo film. Like the Hulk, Namor is still controlled by Universal, and has essentially been "borrowed" by Marvel Studios. In the MCU, Namor can appear in team-up films and the like, but cannot star in a solo movie. Namor also cannot appear by himself in promotional material, with the only exception being for a character poster that's released as part of a larger series of posters. MCU – MARVEL STUDIOS NEWS Marvel Studios Develops Ideas on a 'Not-So-Secret' Retreat https://www.cbr.com/marvel-studios-secret-retreat-mcu/ Marvel Studios producer Nate Moore has pulled back the curtain of the company's creative process ever so slightly, dishing on an occasional retreat held for key personnel. During an appearance on The Town podcast, the producer of films such as Black Panther and Captain America shared that the "not-so-secret retreat," held at Palm Springs "every year or two," is where top executives discuss ideas and aspirations for major films made by the studio. While studio boss Kevin Feige has discussed them previously, Moore has shed some new light over what goes on behind closed doors. "We just talk about interesting characters or stories we'd love to tell or,‘Hey, if we could do anything we wanted, what would it be? Who would it be? What characters haven't we used that we're passionate about?'" Moore explained. The retreat typically leads to one or two major "tent poles" that are then further discussed. In fact, Moore revealed that the concept of the Multiverse and building Phase 1 around the Infinity Gauntlet were all products of ideation at the retreat. He also shared that working together on such massive ideas is made easier since they have "50+ years of material to pull from." Despite an "overwhelming" number of ideas that are shared at the retreat, the most passionate individuals work on bringing these ambitious projects to life. Delving deeper into the workings of the retreat, Moore also highlighted how characters are created and the importance of an executive becoming an expert on a specific character once they're given the go-ahead. "For instance," Moore said, when I was put on Captain America 2, literally reading every appearance of Captain America in publishing. It takes about, I would say about 3 to 4 months." Creatives often have to go through archives of Marvel content after an idea is pitched at the retreat. During this process, they also begin building an "internal document" that makes note of the most compelling characters and their stories. Moore shared the process of his research for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, explaining that it gave him the opportunity to encounter "characters that are really great, moments that are really great, cool facts that you maybe don't know off the surface or off a Wikipedia entry." This in-depth research is also crucial because it gives creatives a chance to filter out problematic content in the comics and tweak it for the big screen while simultaneously coming away with "a document that's a little bit indicative of what we think the movie could be." Once executives do their homework, the ideas are fleshed out and the pitch is then broken down and rebuilt and eventually translated into the blockbuster films that we watch onscreen. Chris Hemsworth Explains Why He Hasn't Watched Tom Hiddleston's Loki https://www.cbr.com/chris-hemsworth-mcu-watchlist-not-up-to-date/ Actor Chris Hemsworth has played an integral role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Thor. The franchise star recently revealed, however, that he isn't quite up-to-date on all of the expansive franchise's films and Disney+ shows. Speaking to Josh Horowitz on the Happy, Sad, Confused podcast, Hemsworth stated outright that he was unable to keep up with everything Marvel Studios has had to offer. He only recently caught an episode of the Loki series. When asked if he hadn't seen the entire show yet, the MCU star explained, "I've got three kids and… I'm off gallivanting around the place… No, I haven't watched anything. It's not because I don't want to. I just haven't had time." Guardians Of The Galaxy Volume 3 trailer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u3V5KDHRQvk X-Men's James McAvoy Addresses Rumored MCU Return as Xavier https://www.cbr.com/x-men-james-mcavoy-return-secret-wars-responds/ Former X-Men star James McAvoy has debunked rumors that he will be returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Professor Charles Xavier. In an interview with GQ, the actor stated that he had no desire to join the MCU even as his former X-Men co-stars join the franchise. "I'm very quick to say, 'No, I'm done.' Or 'I'm not that bothered about coming back.' Because you move forward," McAvoy said, who also addressed rumors that Marvel Studios had asked him to return for Avengers: Secret Wars. "I've definitely not got the call. And if I did I would definitely not be telling you." OUTRO AND BONUS AUDIO [1:19:39] We would love to hear back from you! Bat Therapy: Psychology of Batman and other Comic Superheroes
Professor Charles Xavier is teacher, guardian, mentor, boss, leader, and…maybe therapist? With an MD in Psychiatry and a PhD “in Psychology” (we talk about how little that actually tells us), not to mention some powerful mind manipulation skills, it is important to understand the complications Professor X has with dual relationships and the ethics behind the practices he employs.
Nachdem wir SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME nachgeholt hatten, ging es ins Kino, um DR. STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS zu sehen. Regie: Sam Raimi. Der sehenswertere Multiversumsfilm ist dann doch EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE. Skywalking Through Neverland: A Star Wars / Disney Fan Podcast
It's a special Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness bonus episode! Doctor Strange and Wanda Maximoff, now Scarlet Witch, must contend with what they both have done to the Multiverse. In this episode, Richard and Sarah break down the film and share their thoughts on the characters, genre and scenes. Where do our favorite characters go from here?? What do we think of a horror film in the MCU? We also share your thoughts, too. As with any of our breakdowns, this episode DOES contain spoilers. Full Synopsis: The film opens as America Chavez and an alternate version of Doctor Strange flee through the space between universes to find the Book of Vishanti to stop a demon chasing them. (The Book of the Vishanti contains spells of defensive magic and is indestructible. Its counterpart, the Darkhold, contains all the knowledge of black magic). Chavez makes it to Earth-616 and is saved by Doctor Strange and Sorcerer Supreme Wong. She tells them that she is being hunted because she has the power to travel through the multiverse. They soon realize it was Wanda who is hunting Chavez down to gain her power so she can cross the multiverse and find her kids, Billy and Tommy. When Strange refuses to surrender Chavez, Wanda attacks Kamar-Taj, killing many acolytes. Chavez then accidentally transports herself and Strange across the multiverse to Earth-838. While searching for help, Strange and Chavez are arrested by Earth-838's Karl Mordo and brought before the Illuminati, which consists of Mordo himself, Captain Peggy Carter (from the animated series, What If?), King Black Bolt (who is part of the Inhumans), Captain Maria Rambeau (from Captain Marvel), Doctor Reed Richards (from the FF), and Professor Charles Xavier (from the X-Men). Mordo believes our Earth's Strange is dangerous, but before they can pass judgment, Wanda arrives and kills the Illuminati, except Mordo. Strange and Chavez escape with help from Strange's ex-fiancé Christine Palmer, who is an Illuminati scientist in this multiverse. Escaping from Wanda, the three enter the space between universes to find the Book of Vishanti, but Wanda appears and takes over Chavez's mind, using her powers to send the others to a sinister, mostly-destroyed universe. Strange and Palmer fight the sinister universe's Strange, who has been corrupted by the Darkhold. Strange uses this Darkhold to dream-walk into the corpse of the alternate Strange which remained on Earth-616 and save Chavez. Unable to overpower Wanda, Chavez instead transports her back to Earth-838, allowing Billy and Tommy to witness her evil. The kids are terrified by Wanda, who is there as the Scarlet Witch, but after realizing how much death and destruction she's caused, Wanda uses her powers to destroy all copies of the Darkhold throughout the multiverse, seemingly sacrificing herself in the process. Before Christine returns to Earth-838, Strange tells her that he still loves his universe's Christine but has always been too scared to have a real relationship. America begins training as a sorcerer at Kamar-Taj. Today In Star Wars History: Part 1 - January through June is now available for pre-order!! Click here for all the details, packages and discounts. His daughter, actress Elizabeth Dennehy, tweeted on Thursday, “It is with heavy hearts we announce that our father, Brian, passed away last night from natural causes, not Covid-related. Larger than life, generous to a fault, a proud and devoted father and grandfather, he will be missed by his wife, Jennifer, family and many friends,” The actor made his TV and feature debut in 1977, from that point he maintained a heavy work load for decades. In 1982 his profile increased significantly thanks to his effective performance in the role of Teasle, the sadistic small-town police chief who is Sylvester Stallone’s lead adversary in “First Blood.” One of Dennehy’s most memorable film roles came in Alan J. Pakula’s 1990 adaptation of Turow’s bestselling novel “Presumed Innocent,” starring Harrison Ford as the Chicago assistant district attorney on trial for the murder of a co-worker with whom he had an affair. Dennehy played his boss, who’s up for re-election and has multiple divided loyalties, with a subtlety that was necessary. He died from sepsis in New Haven, Connecticut.15 April 2020 - Allen Daviau, American cinematographer passed away at 77 - https://variety.com/2020/film/news/allen-daviau-dead-dies-e-t-empire-of-the-sun-1234582518/Cinematographer Allen Daviau, a five-time Academy Award nominee for films including Steven Spielberg’s “E.T. the Extra Terrestrial” and “Empire of the Sun”. Food editor and writer Colman Andrews wrote on Twitter that Daviau had died of coronavirus at the MPTF hospital. “RIP Allen Daviau, my friend of almost 60 years, cinematographer and bon vivant, five-time Academy Award nominee, dining companion extraordinaire, pure soul, who left us last night at the MPTF Hospital, his longtime home, after contracting COVID-19. Salut, mon ami.” Daviau, a New Orleans native, was nominated for best cinematography Oscars for Spielberg movies “The Color Purple,” “Empire of the Sun,” and “E.T. the Extraterrestrial” — along with two Barry Levinson films, “Avalon” and “Bugsy.” He also shot the Gobi desert sequence for Spielberg’s “Close Encounters of the Third Kind.” In 1983, he talked to American Cinematographer magazine about prepping the “E.T.” shoot, “We sat down with Steven and started screening movies together. This is the best way I know to get started, watching our own movies and other people’s movies, discussing them, evolving the style we want. We watched Night of the Hunter, Alien, Apocalypse Now, Last Tango in Paris — I forget what all.” Daviau described his favorite scene in “E.T.” to the magazine: “It would be the one in which the youngster [Henry Thomas] says, ‘I’m keeping him.’ The little girl [Drew Barrymore] walks forward, there are highlights in E.T.’s eyes, no detail in the face, and the light is yellow, the effect is very much that of a Maxfield Parrish painting.” He died from complications of COVID-19 in Los Angeles,California.16 April 2020 - Gene Deitch, American animator & filmmaker passed away at 95 - https://news.expats.cz/weekly-czech-news/american-animator-longtime-prague-expat-gene-deitch-passes-away-at-age-95/Gene Deitch was an American Oscar-winning illustrator, animator, film director and producer, he directed 13 episodes of “Tom and Jerry” and also some of the “Popeye the Sailor” series. But the hardest words I know are I love you goodbye,” he wrote. He died from complications of COVID-19 in London.Remembrances21 April 1965 - Edward Victor Appleton - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edward_Victor_AppletonEnglish physicist, Nobel Prize winner (1947) and pioneer in radiophysics. He studied, and was also employed as a lab technician, at Bradford College from 1909 to 1911. He won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1947 for his seminal work proving the existence of the ionosphere during experiments carried out in 1924. Appleton had observed that the strength of the radio signal from a transmitter on a frequency such as the medium wave band and over a path of a hundred miles or so was constant during the day but that it varied during the night. This led him to believe that it was possible that two radio signals were being received. It was sensible to suggest these variations were due to the interference of two waves but an extra step to show that the second wave causing the interference (the first being the ground wave) was coming down from the ionosphere. The basic idea behind Appleton’s work is so simple that it is hard to understand at first how he devoted almost all his scientific career to its study. Thanks to Appleton’s research, the periods when these would occur could be predicted and communication could be switched to wavelengths that would be least affected. Radar, was one that came about thanks to Appleton’s work. On a very general level, his research consisted in determining the distance of reflecting objects from radio signal transmitters. This is exactly the idea of radar and the flashing dots that appear on the screen scanned by the circulating ‘searcher’ bar. This system was developed partly by Appleton as a new method, called the pulse method, to make ionospheric measurements. It was later adapted by Robert Watson-Watt to detect aeroplanes. Nowadays, ionospheric data is important when communications with satellites are considered. He died at the age of 72 in Edinburgh.21 April 2016 – Prince - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prince_(musician)Prince Rogers Nelson, American singer, songwriter, musician, record producer, dancer, actor, and filmmaker. A guitar virtuoso and multi-instrumentalist known for his eclectic genre-crossing work, flamboyant and androgynous persona, energetic live shows and wide-ranging singing voice, in particular his far reaching falsetto and high-pitched screams, Prince is regarded as one of the greatest, versatile and most successful musicians in the history of popular music. His innovative music integrated a wide variety of styles, including funk, R&B, rock, new wave, soul, psychedelia and pop. Prince pioneered the late 1970s Minneapolis sound, a funk rock sub genre drawing from synth-pop and new wave. He sold over 100 million records worldwide, ranking him among the best-selling music artists of all time. He won seven Grammy Awards, seven Brit Awards, six American Music Awards, four MTV Video Music Awards, an Academy Award, and a Golden Globe Award. He was also honored with special awards including the Grammy President's Merit Award, American Music Awards for Achievement and of Merit, and the Billboard Icon Award. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004, the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2006, and the Rhythm and Blues Music Hall of Fame in 2016. In 2016, he was posthumously honored with a Doctor of Humane Letters by the University of Minnesota. Rolling Stone placed him among its list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time. He died from accidental overdose of fentanyl at the age of 57 in Chanhassen, Minnesota.21 April 2018 - Verne Troyer - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Verne_TroyerAmerican actor, comedian, and stunt performer who played Mini-Me in the Austin Powers film series. He had cartilage–hair hypoplasia and was 2 ft 8 in (81 cm) tall. Troyer first met with Jay Roach to discuss portraying Mini-Me in the Austin Powers series, Myers was impressed with Troyer's performance, rewriting the script for Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me to give Mini-Me more screen time and remove the character's death. Troyer reprised the role three years later in Austin Powers in Goldmember, and collaborated again with Myers on The Love Guru. After reaching a large audience as Mini-Me, Troyer portrayed the goblin Griphook in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and played the role of Percy in Terry Gilliam's fantasy film The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. He died from suicide at the age of 49 in Los Angeles,California.Famous Birthdays21 April 1816 - Charlotte Brontë - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charlotte_Bront%C3%ABEnglish novelist and poet, the eldest of the three Brontë sisters who survived into adulthood and whose novels became classics of English literature. In 1839 she undertook the role as governess for the Sidgwick family but left after a few months to return to Haworth where the sisters opened a school, but failed to attract pupils. Instead, they turned to writing and they each first published in 1846 under the pseudonyms of Currer, Ellis and Acton Bell. While her first novel, The Professor, was rejected by publishers, her second novel, Jane Eyre, was published in 1847. The book's style was innovative, combining naturalism with gothicmelodrama, and broke new ground in being written from an intensely evoked first-person female perspective. Brontë believed art was most convincing when based on personal experience; in Jane Eyre she transformed the experience into a novel with universal appeal. She was born in Thornton.21 April 1915 - Garrett Hardin - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garrett_HardinAmerican ecologist and proponent of eugenics who warned of the dangers of human overpopulation. He is most famous for his exposition of the tragedy of the commons, in a 1968 paper of the same title in Science, which called attention to "the damage that innocent actions by individuals can inflict on the environment". He is also known for Hardin's First Law of Human Ecology: "We can never do merely one thing. Any intrusion into nature has numerous effects, many of which are unpredictable." In 1968, Hardin applied his conceptual model developed in his essay "The tragedy of the commons" to human population growth, the use of the Earth's natural resources, and the welfare state. Hardin blamed the welfare state for allowing the tragedy of the commons; where the state provides for children and supports over-breeding as a fundamental human right, Hardin stated in his analysis of the tragedy of the commons that "Freedom in a commons brings ruin to all." He was born in Dallas, Texas.21 April 1979 - James McAvoy - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_McAvoyScottish actor. He made his acting debut as a teen in The Near Room (1995) and made mostly television appearances until 2003, when his feature film career began. His notable television work includes the thriller State of Play and the science fiction miniseries Frank Herbert's Children of Dune. On April 21, 1918, with 80 victories under his belt, Richthofen led his squadron of triplanes deep into Allied territory in France on a search for British observation aircraft. The flight drew the attention of an Allied squadron led by Canadian Royal Air Force pilot Captain Arthur Roy Brown. As Richthofen pursued a plane piloted by Brown’s compatriot, Wilfred R. May, the Red Baron ventured too far into enemy territory and too low to the ground. Two miles behind the Allied lines, just as Brown caught up with Richthofen and fired on him, the chase passed over an Australian machine-gun battery, whose riflemen opened fire. Richthofen was hit in the torso; though he managed to land his plane alongside the road from Corbie to Bray, near Sailley-le-Sac, he was dead by the time Australian troops reached him. Brown is often given credit for downing Richthofen from the air, though some claimed it was actually an Australian gunner on the ground who fired the fatal shot; debate continues to this day.21 April 1934 – The "Surgeon's Photograph", the most famous photo allegedly showing the Loch Ness Monster, is published in the Daily Mail (in 1999, it is revealed to be a hoax) - http://www.myday.si/index.php?c=events&view=detail&id=450&d=21&m=4The "Surgeon's Photograph" purported to be the first photo of a "head and neck". Dr. Wilson claimed he was looking at the loch when he saw the monster, so grabbed his camera and snapped five photos. After the film was developed, only two exposures were clear. The first photo (the more publicised one) shows what was claimed to be a small head and back. The second one, a blurry image, attracted little publicity because it was difficult to interpret what was depicted. Wilson's refusal to have his name associated with the photograph led to it being called "Surgeon's Photograph". The strangely small ripples on the photo fit the size and circular pattern of small ripples as opposed to large waves when photographed up close. Analysis of the original uncropped image fostered further doubt.21 April 1989 - Tiananmen Square protests of 1989: In Beijing, around 100,000 students gather in Tiananmen Square to commemorate Chinese reform leader Hu Yaobang. - https://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/chinese-students-begin-protests-at-tiananmen-squareSix days after the death of Hu Yaobang, the deposed reform-minded leader of the Chinese Communist Party, some 100,000 students gather at Beijing’s Tiananmen Square to commemorate Hu and voice their discontent with China’s authoritative communist government. The next day, an official memorial service for Hu Yaobang was held in Tiananmen’s Great Hall of the People was broadcast live to the students. General secretary Zhao Ziyang delivered the eulogy. The funeral seemed rushed, and only lasted 40 minutes, as emotions ran high in the Square. Students wept. Security cordoned off the east entrance to the Great Hall of the People, but several students pressed forward. A few were allowed to cross the police line. Student representatives carried a petition to the steps of the Great Hall, demanding to meet with Premier Li Peng. The larger number of students still in the Square but outside the cordon were at times emotional, shouting demands or slogans and rushing toward police. The Chinese government refused such a meeting, leading to a general boycott of Chinese universities across the country and widespread calls for democratic reforms.IntroArtist – Goblins from MarsSong Title – Super Mario - Overworld Theme (GFM Trap Remix)Song Link - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-GNMe6kF0j0&index=4&list=PLHmTsVREU3Ar1AJWkimkl6Pux3R5PB-QJFollow us onFacebook- Page - https://www.facebook.com/NerdsAmalgamated/- Group - https://www.facebook.com/groups/440485136816406/Twitter - https://twitter.com/NAmalgamatedSpotify - https://open.spotify.com/show/6Nux69rftdBeeEXwD8GXrSiTunes - https://itunes.apple.com/au/podcast/top-shelf-nerds/id1347661094RSS - http://www.thatsnotcanonproductions.com/topshelfnerdspodcast?format=rssInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/nerds_amalgamated/General EnquiriesEmail - Nerds.Amalgamated@gmail.comRate & Review us on Podchaser - https://www.podchaser.com/podcasts/nerds-amalgamated-623195
Jesse and Josh talk about going to parades and watching fireworks, which lead to improvised scenes about a small town with an underwhelming parade, a Disneyland security guard who is determined to prevent people outside of the park from enjoying fireworks, and an unfortunately placed carnival game! Then, in a very special extended narrative improv, Jesse and Josh create a completely original story set in the X-Men universe, in which young mutant Kitty Pryde is fed up with the lack of privacy in Professor Charles Xavier's school for mutants! Sir Patrick Stewart has had a long and storied career, full of characters he’s portrayed both obscure and well-known alike. While he’s most known for roles such as Captain Jean-Luc Picard from Star Trek and Professor Charles Xavier from X-Men, he’s been in much more than just those roles. This week, Teegan and Lindsay take a dive into his past to talk about a few of his past, perhaps lesser-known roles, his contributions to geekdom in general, and how he’s helping people cope with quarantine by reading sonnets on social media. Also in this episode, Teegan discusses older games and how certain gamers tend to revere them while ignoring their bad points and how it’s totally okay to like something that is flawed (like Dragon Age: Origins, with its incredible story and characters and atrocious combat system).

James McAvoy is always welcome on the Empire Podcast, and this week he returns to talk to Chris Hewitt about the role he's played most often in his illustrious career: Professor Charles Xavier. It's a role McAvoy is playing for the last time in X-Men: Dark Phoenix, and he runs through his Charley X Hall Of Fame in a fun interview. Then, in the podbooth, Chris is joined by Helen O'Hara, James Dyer, and Nick de Semlyen to talk about watching versions originale in France, discuss the week's movie news, from the Le Mans '66 trailer to further R-Battziness, and review Dark Phoenix and Late Night. Oh, and they have a chat with Nick about his first book, the 80s comedy-centric Wild And Crazy Guys. Enjoy!

I am your friend, Chirsty.BR: Good afternoon. I'm Brittany.M: I'm Michelle.C: Recently, the weather is cold. Have you seen some heart-warming films?BR: Of course. Let me tell you.BR: Yeah, the film is named 超时空同居M: Okay, it sounds like a science fiction.BR: Well, it's also a romantic comedy.M: Oh no. I feel hurt since I'm a single dog.BR: 哈哈!M: I can't wait to know what it is about.BR: It is about Gu Xiao Jiao of 2018 and Lu Ming of 1999 live in the same room by accident due to space time overlap. They can go back and forth freely between the ages.M: I think its novel in romantic movies.BR: They go from disliking to cooperation. Finally, they fall in love with each other. However, Lu Ming of 2018 appears and controls everything.M: Two identical people?BR: Uhmm. In 19 years, Lu Ming has changed from a kind man to a bad man with ambition. After knowing the truth, Lu Ming of 1999 changes the decision and they have a happy ending.M: I think that kind and evil are in the blink of an eye.BR: At the same time, its theme song is appealing.M: OK. I will listen to it for a moment. M: Then, I will also introduce a romantic movie called “Titanic”.C: It is enough classic.M: This is a film directed by 詹姆斯·卡梅隆,starring by 莱昂纳多·迪卡普里奥,凯特·温斯莱特. The story follows the Titanic hitting an iceberg in 1919, and it tells the love between a poor painter and a rich girl.C: I remember it has won the 70th Academy Awards, 11 awards.M: Yeah, 莱昂纳多plays Jack, he is a humorous, handsome and affectionate man. 凯特plays Rose, she is a socialist. I like the latter way. However, by accident, 顾森西's sister顾森湘was murdered. Someone framed it to易遥.BR: No one trust her? Finally, I know, she threw herself into the river.C: But顾森西helped her because of love.BR: Wow. Youth film is so wonderful.C: Love is also.B: Hey, Emily. By the way, Marvel Comics great Stan Lee died a few days ago. After hearing that, I feel sorry for him.E: What a pity! I am a Marvel fans, too. So, now, lets talk about a famous work, Wolverine.B: OK. Here we go!E: The film talks that in 1845, James Howlett, a boy living in Canada, saw his father killed by groundskeeper, Thomas Logan. The trauma activated the boy's mutation: bone claws protruded from his knuckles, and he killed Thomas, who revealed that he was James's real father. B: James fled along with Thomas's son Victor Creed, who is thus James's half-brother. They spent the next century as soldiers, fighting in the American Civil War, both World Wars, and the Vietnam War. In Vietnam, Victor killed a senior officer.E: James defended Victor and the two were sentenced to execution by firing squad, which they survived. Major William Stryker approached them in military custody, and offered them membership in Team X, a group of mutants including Agent Zero, Wade Wilson, John Wraith, Fred Dukes, and Chris Bradley. They have joined the team for a few years, but the group's disregard for human life caused James to leave.B: While Logan and Victor joined forces to fight off Weapon XI, Kayla was mortally wounded leading the captive mutants to Professor Charles Xavier and safety. After Logan killed Weapon XI, Stryker arrived and shot Logan in the head with adamantium bullets, rendering Logan unconscious. Before Stryker could shoot Kayla, she grabbed him and used her mutant power to persuade him to turn around and walk away until his feet bled. Logan regained consciousness but had lost his memory. He noticed his dog tags read "Logan" on one side and "Wolverine" on the other. He paused upon noticing Kayla's body, but did not recognize herE: The words touch me is that "Countless choices define our fate, each choice, each moment, a ripple in a river of time. Enough ripples and you change the tide, for the future is never truly set." B: It's so touching. And, “Wolverine” has also a strong cast.E: Wow, what's it?B: They're director Gavin Hood, actor Hugh Jackman, Liev Schreiber, Lynn Collins, Ryan Reynolds, Kdvin Durand, Taylor Kitsch, Scott Adkins, Troye Sivan and so on. E: The producer is the patriarch of American comics---Stan Lee, who is known to us. Its product company is Marvel Comics. What's more, it is shot at Texas, American Grand canyon, New York. B: The film consists of fantasy, science, love and action. Now let's see the behind-the-scenes look. E: “Wolverine” was shown on 5th March 2009 in China. That's to say: After “Spider-Man” “Iron Man”, it is the third time to import films concerning hero on May Day continuously.B: More interestingly, Gavin Hood explained why he wanted to direct “Wolverine”: “Partly because I need to prepare tuition fees for my daughter. Actually, I'm not expert at directing it.”BR: The happy moment passes so fast. It's time to say goodbye.C: The weather is changeable. Pay attention to keeping warm, so that we can prevent cold.BR: And, the final examination is coming. Do you ready for it?C: Have a good review! And, see you next time!BR: Bye.

Set in the year 2029, we find a world where there are no newly born mutants, and the ones that did exist have been all but completely wiped out. Spirit broken, body beaten and losing its ability to quickly heal, and with a sense of self-loathing to the point where suicide seems an increasingly attractive option, Logan finds himself working as a limousine driver, trying to scrape together enough funds to help nonagenarian Professor Charles Xavier, who he has stashed in an isolated facility in Mexico, away from the general population due the the fact that Professor X, without his meds to corral his psychic abilities, loses control of his mutant powers and lashes out in seismic burst from his seizures. During this time, Logan is introduced to a young girl named Laura, an escapee from a mutant-manufacturing lab who, astonishingly, seems to have identical powers to the Wolverine. Hitting the road, the trip seek to escape those who are out to take them down, while also looking for a mythical mutant sanctuary called 'Eden'.

This entry in the retro X-Men series finds the mutants in the series-alternate universe year of 1983, ten years after the events of Days of Future Past, where the cold war is rampant between the United States and the Soviet Union, with most people already worried about being on the brink of annihilation of life on Earth within just a few hours if nuclear war should ever break out. Erik Lehnsherr, aka Magneto, is living as a closeted mutant to keep his family safe, working as a metal worker in Poland with a loving wife and daughter. Professor Charles Xavier is at the mansion that serves as the School for Gifted Youngsters (aka, mutants confronting who they are and learning to control their powers). Both have their home worlds rocked in tragedy. And Mystique spends her time traveling to the four corners of the Earth in order to liberate mutants wherever she can, such as the German teleporter, Nightcrawler. The mutants begin to fight amongst each other yet again when the world's first mutant, the powers-absorbing En Sabah Nur, aka Apocalypse, is resurrected from his dormant state since 3600 B.C., wastes no time in hatching a plan to lay conquest to the entire planet. He sets about pulling together powerful mutant accomplices, dubbed his Four Horsemen, in an effort to bring humanity under their rule, after threatening them with nuclear annihilation. Now it's up to Xavier, Mystique, Beast, and a band of untested gifted students to fight for the right of people who want their kind destroyed from being crushed under the rule of these mad mutants.
Most people with little knowledge of comic books and comic book characters know a few things about X-Men's Storm, aka Ororo Munroe. After losing both her parents during the Suez Canal Crisis in Cairo, Egypt, an orphaned Ororo became a young pickpocket. From there, she wandered into Kenya where a group of uncontacted peoples worshipped her as a goddess. It was in Kenya that Professor Charles Xavier, creator of the original roster of X-Men, sought her out to join a second incarnation of X-Men with Wolverine, Thunderbird, Colossus, Nightcrawler and others from around the world. Ororo gave up her life as a goddess to accept Professor Xavier's proposition to join a world that, not only doesn't worship her, but despises her for being born with a genetic mutation -- the power to control the weather.
In which our heroes wave goodbye to the X-Men, wheel their way to the Avengers Tower, and fire Nick Fury as they ask: how would Professor X run the Avengers? We once again mock Hawkeye for being shit, get into an old fashioned Boop Off with Loki, and accidentally go to war with Asgard by traumatising their favourite prince. Jackson violates Thor, Zammit turns Iron Man into a butler, and Duscher just wants to perfect his Professor X voice. So knock the big A off the Avengers tower and replace if with an X and make the whole place wheelchair accessible because Xavier’s in for the craziest summer of his life and he’s not gonna let stairs get in the way. Want to help fund ramps for the newly furnished X-Tower? In honor of the upcoming films Amazing Spider-Man 2 and X-men: Days of Future Past, we (foolishly) decide to once again test the waters of Spider-man and His Amazing Friends. We were promised a crossover with X-men. And, as you can imagine, this promise was only partially delivered. However, we do manage to push through the heartbreak to discuss the type of pants Juggernaut may or may not wear, Aunt May's stress levels while unknowingly hosting the X-Men and whether or not a quickie can cause blindness (we're divided on the answer). To the great delight and surprise of Sean, Tim and Giancarlo (Andrea remained unimpressed), we managed to nab a visit from Professor Charles Xavier for our "Conversations with Stars" segment. Amid some hard-hitting, Pulitzer-worthy questions, Prof X reveals the real story behind his paralysis, dishes on mutant control of Hollywood and discusses window treatments with Andrea. And Giancarlo manages to invent hand wheelchairs, a creation that even the folks behind the American Disabilities Act would scoff at! You can listen via iTunes, Stitcher or, if you're feeling saucy, stream the podcast right from this very page (oooh technology!). And, if you're still reading, feel free to email or follow us on Twitter @SMDGpodcast. We'll gladly follow you back! And our social media etiquette is fit for royalty. Or something. Finally, feel free to head over to our website, where you can induce brain trauma by watching this episode of Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends!
